Nice on surface, poor under the covers!
Very nice place and nice decor at first blush. This was our second stay at this place in two weeks. Same deficiencies, so it wasn't a fluke. Cookies at check in! Very Nice pool. However:
1. Shower handle was broken/loose. Told front desk - no change in 48 hours.
2. Bathroom layout is poor. Have to get in shower under faucet to turn it on.
3. Internet was terrible. Every time we logged in we had different experiences (wife and I). Sometimes it failed. Sometimes it asked you to become a Honors member. Very flaky and unlike another Hilton I'm in right now which is perfect.
4. Clock was 12 hours off without a way to reset it to the correct time.
5. Continuous fan while in auto mode. Never shuts off.
6. No towel racks, only two small hooks. Use the top of doors instead! And no baths fan.
7. No body wash in shower - only shampoo and conditioner. Two small, pitiful bars of soap were provided.
8. No breakfast included.
9. Business Center was closed.
10. Ice machine on 1st floor inoperable.
11. Refrigerator inoperable. No switch to turn on and no temperature selector.
12. No microwave.

Pretty nice place with some odd drawbacks
Clean, upscale and modern. Pretty chic-looking. However, not sure about the interior designing. For example, no towel racks just a couple of hooks on door? No bathroom fan? The air conditioner controls - odd. Had auto set but even when I changed the commanded temperature, fan ran all night. The awkward shower entry that forced you to get in, stand under the shower head to turn it on? No body wash in the shower or no conditioner? But they had two shampoo dispensers and a lotion dispenser. No place to put my shaving cream and razor in the shower except on the floor? Also, odd, non-consistent log on experiences to the wi-fi. My wife had to create a Hilton Honors account while I didn’t.

Best hotel option by far in the area for a reasonable price. A bit older but still nice- staff was very friendly and helpful. Mundelein itself doesn't have a ton going for it so you'll likely be driving/taking an uber to get to places

Overpriced for what you get--breakfast, which is free in other hotels, was $14 per day for the same powdered eggs and oatmeal. Because cleaning crew isn't everyday, had to call to order more toilet paper, more tissues, and to empty my trash.

We have a great Stay at this Double Tree. It's definitely on the older but overall great experience. It was very quiet, even though it seemed like the place was full. Very close to everything, a short drive to target, Macy's, and dining options.

Overall the stay was great. Unfortunately I now am fighting for a charge to be removed that apparently mysteriously showed up. Doubtree denies they charged me anything but there's a charge from doubletree on my account.

The check-in was simple and the hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. 2 issues in the room were reported and were resolved and corrected within minutes! It will be a good place to stay again when needed.

Staff was friendly but the refrigerator in the room didn't work very well, the hair dryer in the bathroom was sticky and needed to be cleaned, the fan in the bathroom didn't work, cable TV was ok. Overall cleanliness was good.

The hotel has bed odor throughout. Desk and wood surfaces were sticky to the touch. The carpet, panels and furniture were outdated and worn. We were surprised that Hilton name was attached to such a poor quality place. Decided not to eat there. We will not be back.

They put a letter under our door after check in stating there would be no power tomorrow for the day. I paid for the entire night and day and now first thing in the morning there will be no power, a/c and pool or hot water. Just disappointed. Staff had no idea what room
Was available an hour after check in started he was very nice and trying to accommodate but someone is not running this place as it should be. I shouldn’t pay for 22 hours when I’m only able to have power for 13 hours. Insane.

Some Improvements
This is a very beautiful hotel, but it needs some upgrading. The carpeting in the common areas is old and worn. The rooms were fine, but why is there not a fan in the bathroom? Also, the tub/shower area needs improvement. I'm disappointed there is no longer daily cleaning, but I guess that's the way things are going now. If you need some paper supplies, you have to go get them. Really? at $140 a night. I don't expect clean sheets every night, but clean towels and checking of supplies would be nice.

The room had only been refreshed not clean. It s was obvious that someone had cats in the room previously. My BF had a horrible asthma attack and could barely breathe. The hotel was sold out so there were no options.

Overall decent stay. Check-in was perfect and any hotel employees we interacted with were great. The building and rooms are really starting to show their age though. The love seat in the room was fit for the curb (at best), the TVs and remotes were a bit wonky and one of the faucet handles had fallen off in the bathroom (easy fix, but I'm wondering why a 10-second fix was avoided). The location was good and the area was nice. I'd definitely stay here again, but there are probably nicer options in the area for the same price or less.

It was nice staying in a really clean hotel. Having a clean bathroom especially shower, clean sheets, clean furniture which should be hotel standard, but is not in hotels close to the double tree.
The lady working the front desk when I checked in Friday afternoon was very pleasant even after dealing with a difficult guest in front of me.

Nice, affordable trip
Front desk/check in service was outstanding. Great location and price for this location. It is a little bit of an older facility with some wallpaper peeling and older decor, but the bathroom was upscale remodeled, the beds were great, and there was a nice workout room.

I can't believe what passes for 4 star. This was a huge disappointment on our Anniversary stay. Very limited TV channels, no available shuttle, no bathroom fan, pool area is a hot mess. Outdated, small room. I would not recommend this hotel.

Very nice property. Staff excellent! GREAT location. We would definitely stay there again. 2 areas of improvement: 1) please put a pen 🖊️& paper in the room. Also, no housekeeping for 5 days is unacceptable post-COVID. Besides these 2 things, our stay was lovely.

The lady at the front desk was so accommodating and we were in our hotel room well before the check in time! Then as we go in and out throughout the night the man behind the front desk was serenading everyone and his voice and spirit gave the hotel a cozy home feel! I WILL ALWAYS PICK HILTON!

The suite was decent in size but could could use some rearranging as the chair partially blocks the fridge from opening fully. I wish there was a bathroom also in the bedroom not just in the common area. And I wish there was more access for garbage and not just one tiny bin that filled up almost immediately. The couches can for sure use a deep cleaning. Outside of that it was still enjoyable.

Not as good as what I was expecting. No one is behind the desk when I walked by most times. There was a sketchy group of people drinking by pool with glass beer and loud boom box, pot smell in hallway. Lack of towels in room upon entry. Feeling like it needs a little facelift with more presence of staff who oversee the facility. Restaurant had limited hours.

We stayed there this past weekend, December 2-4. The rooms are very outdated. The chairs at the end of the beds were stained and spotted. You can tell they've never been cleaned or it's been a very long time since they've been cleaned. The chair at the desk was so old material on the seat was deteriorating. There was no pen, pencil, pad of paper-nothing. There was no cup for getting a cup of water. THERE WAS NO HOT WATER FOR SHOWER. There was hot water from the sinks but not the shower. When informing the front desk I was told they'd see if they could get someone. We will not recommend this hotel to anyone. Not worth the money we paid.

Filth Under the Bed
I dropped something on the floor and looked under the bed for it. The floor under the bed was filthy. There were all sorts of debris there, including a used tissue. I reported it to the front desk in the morning. At Hilton hotels you have to ask them to do housekeeping. I guess no one ever asked them to clean under the bed.

The hotel canceled our stay and had to fight with them to get a reservation. They canceled it at the hotel and would not admit it was there fault. They did not have breakfast unless you want to pay for it. The paint was pealing off over the shower. The guy at the counter was not nice.

The front desk staff was very helpful every day. Extremely accommodating to my needs, whether it was for additional coffee packs or bath items. I had to extend my stay. The front desk very helpful with that as well. I would stay here again. The room was clean. I like that I wasn’t “required” to have room service unless I needed it.

I guess the new normal is that housekeeping is upon request. I get doing that with towels and linens but the trash cans in our room were TINY and after 3 days they were overflowing. The shower handle got stuck in the on position and we had to call the front desk to turn it off. After they fixed that there was only lukewarm water available for showering—even a day later. The bed was super comfortable but that was about the only positive thing I could say about our stay.

Room was not made up through out our stay, even though we requested it. Beds were not made, there were no trash bags. 2nd day, toilet paper was not installed on the roll. When the A/C shut off, room was noisy from street noise. At check- out, desk staff had shirt unbuttoned quite a bit and looked unprofessional. For the money we paid, the service was NOT there.

This is a very nice hotel EXCEPT for one very important thing: the bathroom has no vent. Therefore, it took close to
30 minutes for the mirror to unfog, even after a tepid shower. This made the bathroom unusable for a long time. Overall, the hotel is top notch. I don’t understand why they skimped on bath ventilation??

Hilton could do better
When we arrived we were a little underwhelmed by the overall appearance of the hotel. The lobby was ok. Checking in was good. Very nice people working there. We thought we were getting a king bed but there weren't any left. No big deal. Our room had a kind of a musty smell but looked clean. The fan in the bathroom didnt work. Never good. We had a party to go to. Didn't spend much time in the room. When we got back I realized the ac unit didn't work. Too tired to do anything about it. After sleeping a while I woke up and noticed my pillow smelled bad. It was the musty smell I noticed when we first arrived in it. A hot musty room made for a horrible night sleep.

The room was quiet and comfortable. The bed was good and clean. Double tree could make it easier for room cleanings. We stayed 6 nights and had room cleaning only twice.
