It's under much needed renovations, but has a ways to go. Good value, safe area, and convenient, but parking has always been a problem and the entrance is extremely sloped (really wish they could fix that. I'm surprised someone hasn't gotten hurt.)

Staff was awesome. It's definitely an older hotel that is trying it's best to remodel, but it's taking a while. The bathroom/shower was just old, and therefore looks dirty. Beware, if you are a light sleeper, there are train tracks right outside of this hotel and the train runs pretty frequently.

Staff are very nice. The place smells though of some sort of cleaning fluid. No small frig in the room. Breakfast the next day has waffles available, scrambled eggs and sausage. NO bread, no bagel, no pastry. NO orange juice or apple juice as the machine was out of order. No bacon.

Did not look like the pictures online….dated. Had to switch rooms because the tv didn’t work and there was no fridge in the room. Small beds. Served its purpose for the night but would not want to stay for multiple nights. Night staff was very nice though.

Weekend trip
Pleasant stay, got there late around 11:30, got checked in quickly with no issues. Clean room, mini fridge and microwave , my only complaint would be hearing the train going by which could be a little loud but didn't last long. I would stay here again

Dissatisfied Trip to Williamsburg
Upon our arrival, we were told our reservations were cancelled. I was more than embarrassed after driving 6 hours to no place sleep for my Mom, Aunt and Uncle and myself. Truly dissatisfied and no options offered byb the front desk. Why wasn't I notified after having confirmed reservations? Totally unacceptable.

checked into first room and the toilet wasnt even secure to the floor and hallway had dead roaches laying the floor which ended up being there for several days as they dont have any daily cleaning its only like once a week they can clean including house keeping for your room. So we had to change rooms only the first morning there were eggs at the breakfast with a sign following “no eggs no milk” they were waiting on a order we were there for 5 days and no order came in which led to no breakfast at all being offered. The pool area has lots of leaks in the roof when it rained. several of the doors in the place were broken open so they no longer shut/locked. all in all the hotel was in poor condition and needs to be gutted and redone as whole.

Piece of crap motel worst place i have stayed
Staff was very nice. Room was old and run down no plugs in sink or tub. Tub spout dripped all night. Toilet paper holder broken. Beds were so small and uncomfortable. You got a sheet and a small blanket. 4 people to room and 2 towels we did finally get 2 more towels. Ran out of toilet paper had to use kleenex. First morning got up to eat breakfast only waffles no truck. On day of departure got up early had to be back to work by noon 3.5 hour trip home. We packed the car and went in to grab a bite to eat this was at 7:00 am and no breakfast no truck delivery so we did not get to eat and no time to stop. if we had know there would be no breakfast we would have gotten up earlier to have time to stop and eat. the room looks nothing like the pictures. No number on room outside door. I think when you book through a 3rd party they give you the crap room. Will never stay at a Wingate again.

Basically - If you’re in town for a quick visit and just looking for a decent place to rest your head at night this will meet that exact need. Hotel room was clean, nice in room amenities, decent hot continental breakfast (ends right at nine) and coffee bar, heated indoor pool, and is centrally located to the parks and downtown Williamsburg. These factors alone could make this a five star hotel.
Checking in did take a while because the lady behind the counter was pre occupied with being on the phone in the other room and didn’t see me. Being told about the 24 hour “coffee bar” was a nice unexpected touch, but we did have to look through the cabinets to find things as nothing was in stock next to the machine. Some things that are in general very concerning was the front door was always propped wide open and there was no staff behind or near the counter during this time. When we got back to the hotel from visiting the park (11pm) there was a note on the desk that said “If you need help go to room 101. -Management” and when we went to make hot chocolate before heading upstairs we startled an older gentleman who had been sleeping across some chairs. It wasn’t quite sure if he was there as a guest or just as a visitor who was enjoying the game and free coffee - as he seemed to have knowledge as to where the light switches and cups were.
Based off the non existent presence of the hotel staff at night and certain security factors takes this rating down to three stars.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. It’s our second time here. It’s now our go to hotel every time we go to Williamsburg. We stayed at one of their newly renovated rooms. It’s very clean, the bed is comfy and the hot breakfast is very good! Close to Busch Gardens and Water Country.

At 11:00 pm we were awoken by some alarm going off in the hotel. No one was at the front desk, I called the number for the manager 2x & only got voicemail. The alarm was finally shut off at 6:30 am!! ALL NIGHT we had to listen to it. There was no hot water in the sink & the water pressure in the shower was non existent. You could barely get wet that's how poor it was.

Just don't. We had stayed at a different Wingate a few years back that was fine. The price was good for this so i booked without research. It is under renovation but there is a lot needed to make this decent. When we checked in we discovered we were the only guests for the night. That was our first clue! I wouldn't think of eating at the breakfast. It is just a tired old building. The only good thing was the check in lady who was pleasant and this review is not a reflection of her.

I got in late and the room was clean and staff friendly. Only complaint would be I was told about breakfast in the morning, but when I went to check it out/get something quick--the milk and juices were locked up and the only thing in the area was cereal. A cleaning person asked if I would like some cereal after seeing my confusion to the mini fridge with milk being locked--I declined. It was 7:45 which breakfast is 6-9 I was told. Also, they had the items out as if they had hot food, just no actual food.

The property is newly renovated. Rooms have blackout shades, a nice-sized TV, an awesome refrigerator, and a microwave. The only setback is the lowness of the toilet. You will have a challenging stay if you have hip or back problems. I have both hip and back problems and it was very difficult to use the bathroom due to the lowness of the toilet. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay. The night receptionist, Kendra is very kind and welcoming. The cook fixes the best breakfast! Eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, all types of bread, waffles, yogurt, and breakfast drinks. Delicious! Get there before 10am weekends and 9am weekdays.

Disappointing
We checked in earlier than the 4:00 check-in time because we were going to Busch Gardens and didn’t want the hassle of checking in after the park visit. So glad we checked in early. Got back at 7:00 and there was no one at the front desk for the rest of the night. There was a huge stain on our floor and smaller ones throughout. We just made sure to keep our shoes on. The tv didn’t work. I picked up the phone to call front desk and the phone didn’t work. No ringtone, so I had to keep calling from my cell phone. I called every 30 minutes and no answer. We just forced ourselves to finally go to sleep. The breakfast was the best part of the hotel experience.

We liked that it was within walking distance to so many restaurants. Dislikes were that it needed some updates (which it looks like thry're in the process of now). For example, fan in the bathroom didn't work, so super steamy after showers. It was clean though and we were only here for a short visit. Good for the price.

Only good for an overnight stay
It would’ve been nice if we get a checked in a little bit earlier than 3 o’clock because we met friends there and they had stayed the night before so they had to keep our belongings in their room. Staff was friendly, but the problem we had were the rooms rust on all the door jams, no microwave rug was coming up from the floor. The wallpaper was bubbling, the air conditioner wouldn’t turn on any higher or lower, two of our four pillows were flat and it smelled like weed once you got on the elevator.

I knew that this hotel was under renovation because I did my research. I had also read reviews of other people before me and became a little skeptical. But I have to say that the staff was very courteous and the renovated rooms were very clean and contemporary. I slept very well both nights I was there. Yes, there are things that can be worked on at the hotel like the AC being broken in the lobby, and an electrical problem that prevented them from offering a hot breakfast on Monday. But I chose to shrug my shoulders, have a good attitude about the upcoming day, and moved on. There are always issues with hotels that are under renovation, but there are things that can be controlled and can’t be controlled. I recommend this property to anyone, especially once they finish the hotel up.

Bare-bones hotel
The stay was very disappointing because half of the hotel was under renovation. The first room that I was given had not been thoroughly cleaned. There was trash behind the night stand and the bathroom had a urine odor. When I spoke to the front desk clerk about the condition of the room she stated she had to check it out first. I was then offered a room that had not been renovated on a lower level. It appeared to be clean, but later I began to notice a mildew smell. As I was checking out the ceiling in the bathroom began to leak. The room was extremely cold with the A/C on and the blankets on the beds were very thin. No comforters, irons or other amenities were in the first room. I was told some rooms have them and some don't. I expected to use the exercise room but it did not exist. The vending area and laundry room were also under renovation. This should have been disclosed during the booking.

Nice hotel, 9/10 rating.
The first floor of the hotel was nicely remodeled. Although our room was older, it was adequate. The bathroom needs remodeling but was clean. The hot breakfast was excellent. They had eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, cereal, coffee/tea, juices, bagels, muffins, etc. We would suggest a privacy curtain over the transparent one because anyone could see through the room. Overall, we had a great stay. We would rate it 9 out of 10.

Horrible assistant manager. Kicked off property before I could check in. Totally cold heart and lack of understanding of my extenuating financial crisis. Was accused of things that I did not do. She was on the total power trip.

Prepare for yourself!
The bathroom had two small bars of previously USED Dove soap bars. Returned to car for my own from my suitcase. Totally unacceptable. Everything else about the room was fixed or great!

Shower would not work, we were put into a room that had already been placed on a maintenance list for mechanical work.. then our new room looks like it hasn’t been cleaning led well. Found someone else’s hair in the bed when we pulled the sheets back. Carpet was dirty also, very disappointed.

More hands on deck
Our stay was nice and convenient considering all the restaurants around the hotel. It was close to Busch Gardens which was nice. The breakfast was from 6-9. We got down there at 8 and there was cereal and waffle batter for waffles. There was 1 egg left, no pastries or muffins. The hotel was booked with tons of guests and there wasn’t 1 employee who was replenishing the food.

I completely understand they are remodeling but i would recommend that items in the room should work upon entering the room. I understand business would fall if places close during renovations but sometimes it helps with the confusion

Nice, clean, quiet,
Room was great, service was very nice. The building seemed dated in some respects - saw some rust in some of the common areas, but that's probably normal in such a humid climate. Everything looked clean and contemporary. The desk clerk said that all of the ice machines were out of order, which was kind of annoying - my friend had sprained her ankle about an hour before check-in, and I had to drive to CVS at midnight to get ice. Other than that, I liked it and would definitely return. All your employees were terrific.

The property is undergoing renovations, some things are to be be expected such as maybe the room not being updated or even the pool not being available. However our phone did not work in our room, the water in the whole building was shut down more than 5 hours, our room key continuously was deactivated every-time we left ; even if we went to the counter. We left the hotel and did not complete our stay.

Hello,
I checked in hotel late at around 1pm and was given room 504 and this room was dirty bath tub have paint stains with dried Sheetrocks debris, carpet and floor was also dirty with crumbs of Sheetrocks, also the the fire alarm was handing and not mounted, safety issues. Since was late, I went to sleep, next day morning July 1st I went to front desk and showed all the pictures and told her you guys should not have sign this room to me or anyone, it is not clean and safe, the front desk girl was rude and said that room was painted and that's paint stains and you book through third party. I told her I just came to tell you the room is dirty and left. I can send you the pictures of this room. This is the second time I book through Expedia and both times I got bad experience with the hotel.

Booked a room with a bed and couch bed to accommodate the amount of people that would be staying in the room(2 adults 2 kids). When we arrived they put us in a room with only a bed and 2 chairs. When we told them that we booked a room with a pull out couch they told us to contact Expedia for a partial refund because we are not guaranteed the room that we booked. The staff could’ve told us that they didn’t have the room we booked available at check in or when we called about a early check in. But instead took it upon themselves to put 4 people in a 1 bed suite. There were other issues with accommodation at this hotel besides this but this was the biggest issue and they did bare minimum to fix the problem, only told us to contact Expedia for our inconvenience.

I enjoyed my overnight stay. The evening staff was great. This dated property is being renovated and reflects that as construction materials and dumpsters were outside around the corner. I could see old beds and new TV boxes in them. I was in a room that was not renovated and frankly it was just fine. The floor passed the dirty feet test and the air conditioner worked perfect and was quiet. No sign of bugs or mold. A nonsmoking room that smelled like a nonsmoking room. Refreshing. The bathroom was dated but clean and well stocked with towels, shampoo and such. I would not hesitate to stay at this property again in its current condition. The swimming pool is closed which was not an issue for me. They serve a basic breakfast which was good as I laterally got there right after they brought the eggs from the kitchen. No Williamsburg horror story here and it will just get better as they keep renovating it.

Decent, but needs some upgrades.
Only stayed for one night. Front desk staff was friendly and check-in was a breeze. They were doing some sort of construction on the top floors, but they were not doing anything while we were there. There was no 2nd floor button on the elevator, which isn't a deal breaker for me. Room was spacious, but a little dated. No fridge or microwave (microwave was in the kitchen in the lobby). Like any hotel, we had some loud neighbors at 2am in the hallway but the noise didn't last for long. They served hot breakfast. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Overall, it was a decent room to stay in for a night and I would stay there again.

Taking into consideration the property is under renovation, i get that some things are not available. Yet, when you have to go to a separate floor, not good. Room had a damp smell. And im not sure if it was the staff, but people dont need to smoke outside the front door of the lobby

We have stayed on this property at least 2 times a year for the past 18 years. We chose it because of proximity to family. We were so pleased to see the facelift at the - unfortunately it’s just lipstick on a pig. For the second time in 3 months we were denied our king room because we didn’t reserve the room through Wyndham. The rooms had neither microwaves or refrigerators. The rooms still have the same noisy heating and cooling units and the stained ceilings have not been painted. The door did not have a security lock on it. One elevator was broken with no button to push. Breakfast was from 7-10. We were there at 9 and there were no cups available for coffee. We actually went back to our room for cups because no one was at the front desk. The sausage was pink - there were 4 pieces and a few eggs which looked disgusting. We did ask for some additional pastries because there were only 2 bagels left. We were told that the crowd with kids were in early and ate everything. The front desk clerk came in and literally threw two muffins on the plate and said here are muffins. I’m sure she was frustrated, but some maturity should have been shown on her part. The breakfast lady was very apologetic saying that she had just started. The hallway carpets were dirty - not vacuumed in a while. I’m very disappointed in the property and not sure that we will return. I expect more from a Wyndham product and disappointed that Expedia doesn’t make the room availability clause transparent.

Property is undergoing renovations.
Room was dirty, found a whole handful of someone else's hair in the sheets when I folded the top sheet back and hair all over the bathroom.
Floor wasn't vacuumed.
Scents used in the room caused me to go into allergy duress.
I checked out a day early.

Seeing this was a cheap hotel I’m not surprised about the down falls. There was no refrigerator or microwave in the room. You were able to use the microwave in the lobby tho. The indoor pool was closed also. The staff was so sweet and helped with what they could. There was no fee for breakfast.

I have traveled a lot, and this was the first time I had ever been told that I could not use a hotel's toilet before check-in.
The pool was closed. The first morning there was not a grab and go breakfast. I made sure to remove the" do not disturb" tag, with plenty of hours left for a second day cleaning and the room wasn't cleaned.
I guess the lack of cars in the parking lot should have told me something!

Let me start by saying we knew. The property was under construction however when we entered our room it did smell of cigarettes and after flushing the toilet one time it broke. Had to call maintenance to come and take a look. I'm sure the rooms will be nice once completely remodeled but the one we were in was not. Lobby is nice but they advertise grab and go breakfast and coffee in the morning. However the coffee machine was broken and grab and go breakfast had to be asked for. Should have been out ready to go or at least assign letting people know where to go to get it.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
The AC was extremely loud like a diesel engine! I had to turn the AC off to get some sleep. Of course the room got stuffy after that.
We came during renovations so there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room. And no coffeemaker...AGGGHHH!!!

There was NO HOT WATER, no hot breakfast, no pool, no WIFI, one of the front doors to the lobby was broken, plastic tarp in entryway, one of the elevators was broken, hotel was dirty, musty smell, bathroom sink and tub leaked all night, no extra cot available, noisy trains ran past hotel all hours of the night.

Entire property under construction. Didn't stay and no one mentioned this when speaking to them (Rachel at Wyngate) via phone in an attempt to add a day to our reservation. Upon arrival we determined the entire hotel was a construction site. Completely unacceptable and NOT an Expedia issue. We have requested a refund

They're still in the middle of renovations, so there were a few quirks: I had to plug in the alarm clock and change a lamp plug so that the room's light switch would turn something on. The front desk staff handed out bagged breakfasts, and they handled a shared central fridge since the rooms didn't have their usual mini-fridges. The cleaning staff didn't clean our room during our 3-night stay. However, the price was greatly reduced for the renovations, so these minor issues didn't bother me at all. A little more troubling was an internet outage that lasted more than 48 hours, although the delay seems to have been primarily Cox Internet's fault. The hotel is also close to a train line, which was all right for us but might bother some. Some pluses: the staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were spacious. I particularly appreciated that our room had a second sink outside of the bathroom. I'd certainly stay here again with the same conditions and price point!

Website is not updated in order to alert potential customers the bldg. is under renovation, no restaurant, no pool. The website shows all of the amenities as being available.
Also, the elevators were filthy with construction debris as well as the lobby entrance.
