It's absolutely gorgeous. Our room was clean and cozy. We had beautiful views from our patio. We walked around the resort and enjoyed every moment. It was relaxing just to be on the grounds. The stay was worth every penny.

Spoil yourself, stay here!
Absolutely magnificent. Staff super friendly, the property is amazing and very well kept. From the valet guys (super nice and warm guys), to reception (professional and very welcoming) to the barman and servers at T Cooks. Eat on property, the food is amazing. The non alcoholic cocktails were also fantastic.
All the historical nuances of the mansion are preserves, it's so beautiful.
Alvador spa experience was fantastic.

the resort was great staff was great T cooks was great the only thing that got me was that there was really nothing to do at night in the hotel but go to the bar and listen to a house type band that was not to my liking . i would have liked to play darts or shoot some pool or anything else other then sit and stare at the stars and listen to old people

They offer old world charm in an environment that is warm, inviting and first class. After staying there for 5 days, I have to give kudos to the staff. Every interaction was friendly, helpful and professional. The property itself is awesome. It has charm, terrific views of Camel Back mountain, and is set up so that corporate events, weddings are kept separate and private from individual and family guests. I will definitely be going back.

I was a bit disappointed . The last time I was here, it was not owned by Hyatt. It seems a bit run down in areas and not well cared for. The check in area seemed cluttered and tacky. I remember it as pristine, very up- scale and classy. It just seemed like another commercial property— not unique— and overpriced. Disappointed!

small but big issue
Good Afternoon,
The resort and all the staff was very pleasantly receiving and the ambiance was truly a delight for my wife an I.
Only issue, and unfortunately is a big one for us, is that our room was infested with assortments of bugs (ants and tiny spiders)
We checked in late in the evening and didn't notice them till our next morning showers....First easily noticed on the The shower curtain, which made us look down throughout the floor and therefore noticed that they were everywhere on the floor from that point forward traced them into the bedroom and near the fireplace.
I presented the issue first thing, brought some of the physical proof on a piece of toilet paper of the bugs we killed. The staff was very attentive & apologetic but was also told not much could be done about it other then refunding a resort fee. It was only a 1 Night stay for us but Wife and I are not feeling very accommodated about that.

I did not like how the room didn’t come with a fridge, but it did come with a fully stocked bar. At least leave some room in the fridge for personal items please. Adding $35 to an already $350/night stay for a mini fridge is pushing it a bit. Other than that, everything was excellent. I’d suggest adding better circulation near the bathroom vanity, it got really hot there during the day. The valet was excellent, customer service perfect, breakfast in the morning was amazing, I loved the 2 egg breakfast with bacon. The soaps smell amazing, herbal with lemon grass. 24/7 pool was very peaceful at 11pm, and we had no interruptions during our stay. Probably will book again. definitely will if a fridge is included in the room at no added cost,

The rooms themselves are merely adequate, it is an old property, the beautifully walkable grounds and quality of the service make up for the room being somewhat rough. The only parking option is valet, and theres an overnight fee for keeping your car there that no one mentions.

We've never stayed at the property and did enjoy our time. When we checked in, we shared that it was our first time visit and we were celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary. We were offered an upgraded room at a price in order to check in early. This was very surprising to us as we've never had to pay for this. Being in the Hospitality world for over 19 years, this was a new one for me. We were directed to our guest room and the staff membered shared lots of fun history tidbits about the property. She even shared there is a fireplace in our room but they have been turned off due to the weather. When we got settled, we noticed there was a flame still on in the fireplace, there was a used toothbrush in the shower. We called to have the fire place turned off and did share about the toothbrush. The front desk agent did apologize. My husband is a diabetic and needed some orange juice, he did order a couple glasses and the price was outrageous, it was over $45. We had thought this brand of a Resort would have sent us a small amenity for our anniversary but didn't. We probably will not stay here in the future.

amazing property , great staff !! Rooms are awesome. We shared a suite two adults and two teens , the bathrooms are an open area , shower with glass door, separate toilet with door. So that can take some coordination but overall great experience.

We have stayed before prior to the Hyatt takeover. Still lovely grounds and staff very friendly, however it is no longer a boutique hotel, it’s now a Hyatt and the cost cutting is evident- the boutique price did survive and that the biggest disconnect.

We had a presidential suite with our own patio - it was amazing!
The shower is a two person shower and there is a separate oversized claw tub bath
the room was big and oversized
We had a pitbull so place is dog friendly

Loved the ambiance, the beauty of the property and the intimacy it conveyed. I was relaxed as soon as I arrived. Your staff are excellent and part of your success. Keep them going. The only thing I would say improvement could be is on the dinner menu. The one evening we were there for dinner the food was "Ok" but not great. We had some outstanding meals in the area and I think you definitely improve here. Would definitely come again in an instant!

The cost of the stay was far higher than quoted on Expedia. Resort fees paid at check in and another set of "resort" fees paid at check out. Not much of a spa.

This property is full of charm and the gardens are meticulously kept. T.Cooks breakfast and dinner were great. All staff is very friendly and accommodating. Our room was very spacious and clean, however, there was a musty smell. Although our room was on the mountain side, there was no mountain-view from our room which I had anticipated there would be. We did not spend a lot of time in the room so it wasn't a big deal. The gas fireplace was a nice bonus in the room.

Lovely and relaxing, but could use updating
We had a lovely stay. The service was excellent from start to finish, including the front desk, pool, bar and restaurant. The food was superb. The rooms are a bit tired and need updating. I would get rid of the carpet and update the paint, redo the bathrooms (our sink had a rust ring around the drain; golden beige tile should be replaced with white). We found the square tub in our room to be oddly configured and small, so we didn't use it. Expanding the bathroom with more modern fixtures into the open tub area would be a better use of the space. We did have a gorgeous view of Camelback Mountain from our deck, of which we took full advantage. Our second-floor room was quiet and comfortable.

The staff was awesome, I want to make that clear.
That being said, my wife and I were disappointed with our stay. They made it right with the physical problems when asked.
However, I don’t want to spend my vacation calling about one problem after another for two days, and become those people. Although, when paying $650 a night (before the fees they add on), you feel let down when you feel that you get a lot less than you paid for.
Our patio started covered in branches and leaves(they came to clean right away when asked).
There’s romantic in a dark room and then there’s an old dark room. We felt the latter. The bathroom was not temperature controlled (or it didn’t work) and no ability to open the window in it, so it was probably about 80 degrees the entire stay which is hard to get ready when you are sweating. The shower was nice and big at least.
When we woke in the morning, we found what appeared to be dry blood stains on the duvet at the foot end of our bed. Neither of us were bleeding.
The iron/ironing board left black dirty spots on our clothes. The list kept going it felt.
The grounds, bar, spa & restaurants were well maintained and beautiful. Also, our view of the mountains was pretty. I won’t deny that.
However, with everything going wrong in our room, I felt disappointed that I spent around $3000 for two people in two days here.
My wife & I REALLY wanted to love it while celebrating our wedding anniversary, but we didn’t.

Beautiful property and attentive staff, but the entire property was overrun with mosquitoes and even after asking for it to be addressed, nothing was done. Everyone in our party was absolutely bitten up over a four day period- whether we were sitting on our patio, in the gardens, at the pool, or even in conference rooms. Additionally, sleeping arrangements in the villa were less than ideal; fold out couch was unsleep-able and rollaway bed was no better.

Quick One Night / 2 days getaway
Royal Palms Never disappoints! Chilled pool in the hot Arizona sun. Excellent service at the pool with yummy cocktails and delicious food. Also T cooks restaurant enjoyed an amazing dinner. We were able to get early check-in and late check out

The Royal Palms fully lived up to our expectations. Not only was the level of service Five Star but it felt as if you were a guest on a private estate rather than staying in a commercial hotel. We particularly enjoyed the history tour guided by Todd, which explained how Mr and Mrs Cook originally developed the estate in the 1920s, and how it subsequently developed.

It was a smaller resort with 1 dinning option, although it was very good.
It gave an old hollywood spanish feel, the gardens and fountains are beautiful and are very relaxing and help one find there ZEN.
Our room was tucked back in a beautiful garden area that hosted weddings. We heard setting up going on in the am which obviously is expected but because the buildings are older they are not as sound proof.
I would stay there again it wasn't a deal breaker.

I have traveled to many countries, and this hotel reminds me of a unique building in Morocco, Portugal, Spain or Tuscany in Italy. If you enjoy a piece, a great few, sitting outside your room and seeing flowers, cactuses, this is for you. I did not know they had a hotel like this in the U.S. Service was impactable, staff very friendly and helpful. There were a few staff members who I wish I would remember their name to give them credit for going above their call of duty. Ana K. (that is all I remember) was the first person my husband and I met when we arrived. She assigned the most beautiful room to us. Thank you.

This was our first stay at Royal Palms. Couldn’t be happier with the trip, especially after visiting the much larger and relatively soulless corporate campuses of the Biltmore, Fairmont Princess, and Phoenician. Royal Palms has the feel of an old time Arizona resort, with many of the rooms located in relatively small adobe buildings surrounded by beautiful gardens, brick walkways, and courtyards. Cacti, citrus, and tropical plants in abundance. Nice, well-appointed pool. Good restaurant. Really great bar in a cozy adobe outbuilding with live music on Saturdays. Friendly staff. Good location on Camelback Road, just down the street from the Phoenician. I only wish they had had a small pastry shop. Highly recommended.

The property was cute and quaint. The bed was comfortable. The property was pretty quite however the doors to the room were so heavy they slammed so you could hear every single person come and go. The staff told us the bar closed at 10 and we went in at 9:15 and the girl told us she was closed. The gym smelled absolutely foul. For the price...it was average at best.

Intimate and Charming Property
Great property very private and has little cool areas to discover…staff was 1st Class…We were here for a wedding and the venue was perfect…love how the property felt intimate and as busy as it was it never felt crowded…It is not inexpensive but we were pleased enough that it was worth the price.
