Manager getting upset when pointing out flaws in the rooms in spite of communicating it in the most polite way possible. They offered a room in which the smell of food was quite unpleasant to say the least and where fresh stains were all over the couch in particular. Instead of getting apologies by pointing it out, she was clearly annoyed which frankly made me uneasy. We ended up in a normal 1 bed room with my family of 4 and no reimbursement for the price difference was offered. We still enjoyed our time since Charlottesville and its surroundings is very pleasant. We were a bit squeezed in the room but at least it was clean.

Stay was wonderful. Hotel is very nice, clean & comfortable & in a great location. The only disappointment was the items requested upon booking (& noted on my reservation upon check in) were not taken care of & a call to housekeeping was still necessary.

The gentlemen at the desk Saturday early morning saw that I was stressed that the coffee pot was empty in the lobby. By the time I pulled my car around (5 minutes...) to pick up my family, he had it refilled. Appreciate the little things and the attentiveness of this front desk staff!

What I didn't like about our stay is that when we opened the door to our room, there were other people already occuping the room. The staff couldn't understand why this happened. We were given a different room, near the ice machine :-( No flavored creamer like other locations for coffee.

Good, could’ve been a bit better for the price
Staff was very friendly. The room was nice and spacious but the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. One light fixture was missing a light bulb and the extenders to close one set of the blinds were not on the blinds but sitting on the floor against the wall next to them - we had to reattach them ourselves to be able to close the blinds. Breakfast was ok, eggs were soggy and no bacon. The hotel was very quiet which was appreciated. Location was good. Parking is $10/day.

I enjoyed the property's central location to the downtown mall in Charlottesville. The University of Virginia is a bit of a walk, but it's doable for someone of reasonable fitness.
I will say that I failed to consider when I booked that each room was a full-service apartment. While I did not take full advantage of the kitchen, these rooms would be good for those staying for at least several weeks, or families who want to save on food costs.

Very helpful and accommodating staff. We stayed close to the conference at Shakti Ayurveda School in old downtown Charlottesville and the frequent loud noise from the police and fire people going out on their runs dampened our experience.

It was great. Only complaint is that they should have eating facilities on the premises. It was raining heavily and after a day’s outing, all we wanted was to come back to the hotel and have a nice dinner with wine and all. But couldn’t.

Spotlessly clean. Sofa is not comfortable, bed wasn’t either. The TV wasn’t working and required a second remote to operate. We love the location and having a full kitchen with Ice maker. Breakfast was fresh and yummy, and the house coffee was good and strong. Very easy parking and a short walk to the Water Street mall. The pet fee is $125 for just one night, which is really high, considering many high end hotels don’t charge any fee at all. Otherwise, it’s not fancy, but it’s clean, has full amenities and is in a great location!

Nice friendly staff even left a gift bag on the door on Christmas morning. Hot breakfast bar was very good. Nice ckean area to eat breakfast. I would recommend. We stayed in one bedroom King suite.

Tv did not work. They asked if i wanted them to call in maintenance since he was at home. I said yes. He arrived and smelled of smoke. It was very bad. Actually caused the whole room to smell of smoke after he left. Pretty bad. Let the receptionist know about this and that was it.

I stayed here with a friend who was recovering from surgery but not in the ADA room. The regular room with kitchenette was perfect; comfy, quiet, excellent temperature control, comfy bed and real down pillows and the walk-in shower was easy for him to use. The breakfast buffet was well appointed and the outside patio was nice. All in all a really comfortable and convenient stay.

An excellent centrally located hotel, in perfect condition, with very efficient and friendly staff. A decent breakfast is included in the rate. Our room had a kitchen and the sitting room in it, with a smart TV with Internet options including free Showtime. This is where I will stay next time I am in Charlottesville.

Wonderful stay, my only issue was with the refrigerator. It would go into “defrost mode” like all refrigerators do occasionally and when it did it was extremely loud and irritable. I feel like you would be happy here if you don’t get the fridge in room 720.

The suite lacked sufficient lighting in the kitchen to safely prepare cuts of ingredients without extreme caution while preparing dinner meals. All utensils plus serving pieces required were available and in very good condition,

Very disappointing
Toilet did not work so had to go down to lobby each time we had to use restroom. Couch cushions worn out and no support so couldn't use couch. Not enough on-site parking so had to park off site. Extremely loud HVAC unit directly outside of 2nd floor window. Had to pay for bottled water even though breakfast was 'Free'. Hotel was full so couldn't switch rooms. Rate was more than other similar chains in the same neighborhood - should have ditched my Marriott points and saved $$ for a better experience.

Female front desk clerk with visible tatoo was anything but welcoming, as a matter of fact quite rude. She should not be dealing with the public - back of the house, pleaae!

Located downtown short block away from the 3rd street mall which has plenty of shopping, coffee shops and restaurants
( very good recommendation from desk staff).
Front desk personnel were both pleasant and very covid conscious.as was the entire hotel set up with sanitizer. Stations located throughout. Our credit card was wiped down both when taken and before return. Luggage carts were wiped down upon return. Our room was very clean and spacious. Underground parking was available. We were very pleased with our stay and how seriously covid is taken.

Overall, we like the size of the room, cleanliness and location. Our room was situated at a busy traffic light which woke us up at night a lot. There was also a clicking noise in our bathroom which added to the restless sleep. I would stay here again, but request a room facing the parking lot or a less traveled street.

Worth the money

The suite style room was outstanding. Super clean and very comfortable and conveniently located near the downtown mall with lots of restaurants. Would have loved to stay longer than just 2 days! I also have a 100lb dog that the staff was very welcoming and accommodating of!

This is a very good and clean hotel. However, they put us in the least attractive center room with a view of the heating vents even though the hotel was nearly empty. I would suggest that you ask for an exterior room or, if you get an interior room, ask for floor three or higher.

Charlottesville stop over
We stopped in Charlottesville traveling from DC to Illinois, we wanted to spend a few nights since we have never been there before. When we arrived we did not have the best check in experience the young girl seemed like she was having a bad day, but after that another woman was there she was so pleasant and helpful, our room was perfect and the location couldn’t have been better. We would stay there again if we are ever in the area .
During this pandemic we felt that the Residence Inn took great precautions.

The staff was nice, and it was very clean. The air in my room was broken though. The sensor never came on, and the thermostat on the wall said “low battery”. I called the front desk, and was told that He would reset it and to call back in 10 minutes. I called back, and he had left for the night so I had to tell the other person at the desk what happened. She told me there was no one working in maintenance that night, and she suggested that I could move rooms. It was 11 o’clock at night, so I asked if there was a fan I could use. She told me that she had one but I needed to come downstairs to get it. Overall it was a pretty good experience, just wished it wasn’t so hot in my room

Our room was very nice, it had a high ceiling, a nice kitchen area, and spacious bathroom. The TV could turn so you could watch it from anywhere in the room and you are able to sign in to a Netflix account through the TV. It was clearly a newer building which always helps. Everything was clean, the common spaces were always tidy. The Wi-Fi worked well and connected easily. There is a happy hour with free appetizers and inexpensive drinks. The parking was easy, convenient and free.

Front desk woman was irritable when I asked where the Happy Hour would be in the hotel. Then when I was swimming laps in the pool, the front desk woman let a woman into the pool who had been banging on the door to get in who WAS NOT A GUEST. There were two young girls with her who previously had been swimming without her without an adult present. They were clearly not guests of the hotel. The little girls had been running around the lobby without the woman when I arrived. Other guests noticed they had no adult supervision. The girls followed me into the pool when I went to the pool. They proceeded to undress at the pool. One was naked and I told her to go to the restroom to change. Again;NO ADULT WITH THEM. I started to swim laps and the woman came into the pool. Then after a while she and the girls left. Then they tried to come in again but the woman DIDN'T HAVE A GUEST KEY BECAUSE SHEWASN'T A GUEST. She tried to get me to get out of the pool to let her in. I did not let her in because I was suspicious. NEVERTHELESS THE FRONT DESK GIRL LET HER IN. After a few minutes, the woman and the two girls- who said they were ten and twelve AND WHO WERE SWIMMING IN THEIR UNDERWEAR- NOT BATHINGSUITS- left the pool in the hurry. The woman made the girls leave when they were still in their underwear. They left the pool and went to the parking lot.
THE WOMAN ROBBED ME OF ALL MY CASH; AMEX CARD AND BANK CARD. SHE DEPLETED MY CHECKING ACCOUNT AND CHARGED THINGS ON AMEX. SHAME ON YOU
