The rooms are really small, but the space is very well utilized and distributed. The beds were twin size but not a small kid size beds. We slept really well and the location of the place is fantastic. Bus stop and subway station right outside the hotel. Lots of dining options within walking distance.
Nice restaurant in the lobby of hotel called Colettes. Superb food and cocktais. For the price this hotel is fantastic! I would definitely stay again.

Hotel is in a great area around a ton of shops and restaurants! It’s also visible from the nearest T station, so transportation was really easy. Room was clean and comfortable, staff was friendly and gave great recommendations for local restaurants. I was traveling alone and felt safe walking around the area, even at night. I’d highly recommend to anyone!!

Always enjoy this clean, cheap, convenient hotel
Good value for the money as typically much lower priced than other Cambridge options. Good access to public transportation as T/Red Line and busses to Harvard/Porter/Arlington are a few minute walk. Clean new hotel with nice restaurant on ground level. Rooms are small/cozy but fine for solo traveler staying 2-3 days. Staff is always helpful.

Very clean and fine for an overnight
We just stayed here for one night, since we had an early flight from Logan the next morning. Since it's an older, "boutique" type of hotel, the room was small, but it made excellent use of the space. It was spotless, and didn't set off our allergies like many hotels do. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Parking is an extra $28 fee, which is understandable considering its location right in the middle of Cambridge. We got a great rate, because it was Christmas Eve. My only complaint would be the pillows. Two rock-hard pillows, one large and one small, were pretty useless. Need to be less "arty" and more practical--one or two regular soft pillows would have been better. Otherwise, very clean, comfortable and with good service.

Convenient, low-cost choice
PSH is a solid choice in this area as it is affordable, convenient and clean (built within last 10 years). The staff is always friendly and helpful; T/Red Line is five minute walk and bus that goes past hotel connects to Harvard Square, Davis Square, Arlington, Watertown etc; rooms/beds are small but comfortable, pillows are fine if not great; no fridge in room but staff brought one up for me; rooms are quiet, Wifi connection is fine if working remotely.

Firstly, there was an issue with the shower door in my room, as it seemed to be leaking during my showers, resulting in the entire bathroom floor becoming wet. I placed towels to address the situation and reported it to the management.
Additionally, on the first night, the floor was quite noisy, and around 3 am, I experienced loud noises and thuds from outside. While the room size was on the smaller side, I found it to be manageable.
I appreciate your attention to these matters and trust that they can be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience.

Smalk room, no closet, sliding bathroom door that didn’t close so no privacy, no gym, no pool, I had to ask/ schedule room cleaning … they didn’t show when asked and came the next day after I asked again. Probably won’t return.

Great value! The room was modern and clean. Had a television and a coffee maker (which can also do tea). The beds were a bit firm. The bathroom was clean and had all the essentials like nice quality soaps, towels, tissues. The shower was hot and had good pressure. Area feels safe and has good selection of food in walkable distances. Very close to the metro station and if you're not in a rush to get anywhere then its very easy to get into the city by train.

Room and hotel was nice and comfortable. Great location. My room was directly over the restaurant so it was so loud with chairs moving until late into the night. Didn’t sleep well. Would stay here again but don’t stay on the second floor in the front of the hotel.

Very clean - felt European. Layout of the room was unusual- two bathrooms with showers. Elevator was slow - wound up using the stairs throughout the stay to and from the third floor. Valet service was prompt and staff was overall very friendly and professional.

We stayed at the Porter Square Hotel while in town for Tufts parent's weekend. The location was very convenient - about a 10 minute Uber ride to campus, with several options for eating and shopping while we were at the hotel. The hotel is small, which is what we wanted. It's very quiet and the public area were clean throughout our stay. Front desk staff were helpful and other staff we encountered were all very friendly.
The hotel has a small coffee shop / restaurant that we didn't try during our stay. The bar area was pretty busy one night but things quieted down by the time we were ready for bed so it wasn't disturbing.
The room was decently-sized with a couch and chair in the living area, a queen bed and moderately-sized bathroom that two of us shared without any issues. Housekeeping is by request.
The only negatives we encountered were a slow elevator (there are 5 floors, plus basement), a lack of luggage rack in the room (we used the coffee table and desk to hold suitcases), a very firm mattress and limited TV options. While there were many cable channels available on the TV, movie channels like HBO or access to any streaming apps were not available.
Overall, we would stay here again and felt the cost was reasonable.

Boutique gem in a great spot
The Porter Square Hotel is a gem in a great location. Everything looked and felt clean and new. Valet service was convenient and affordable, by Boston-area standards. Our room was small but perfectly comfortable and suited us just fine. I would absolutely stay there again.

The one complaint I have is the spacing in the bathroom. It is such a tight squeeze that I kept on bumping my toes on the base of the shower stall. All in all it was a tight fit. Also, I could barely open the curtain, as the bed was almost touching the window. I was in room 501

Far above expectations

This place nickles and dimes you to death. Not the friendliest of places either. There are far better places to stay for the same or less. Gave my daughter a hard time about her ESA and actually had someone come to the room about it.

Property was very nice. Only downside was I called and ask if there was a refrigerator in the room and they said yes but our room did not have one.

Only thing I disliked was noise within the property. Maybe I'm just sensitive to it, and maybe it was room specific (I was in 217), so it might not bother others. But high pitched hum at night, seemed to be in hallway, room, everywhere. On one night, constant gurgling sound from shower drain (I think). Would be perfect hotel with these irritants fixed.

Your Wifi was annoying. We could not download emails on it. Front desk said it might have something to do with a shared system with another of your hotels. No one knew what do do. We used data on our iPhones to so it. Also, smart play on limiting the TV volume controls. But the walls between the suites were rather thin. Liked the decor. Good rates. Would probably book again.

Solid value in good location
Typically competitively priced vs others in the area. Great location if you need to be in Davis/Porter/Harvard or on the Red Line. Small room but comfy bed and pillows. 12pm checkout is great. Have stayed a few times and it’s always solid.

Everyone was so nice and helpful. Very clean. The skidding door to the bathroom keep slamming on my arm (now it is very sore). Too small for me but I’m from florida and everything has more room. I would stay again.

This was a serviceable and actually pretty comfortable place to stay, and was affordable despite the location. The room is quite small, however, and there isn't really any closet space. Oh, and there's something weird about the wifi: it wouldn't let me use a VPN, and also (with or without VPN) prevented Apple Mail from sending, presumably because Apple secures its transmissions also. So, I recommend the place, but maybe don't let your device touch the wifi.

I have been staying at the Porter Hotel when I come up the Cambridge to teach each week. It’s very convenient if you use mass transit (the Red Line of the MBTA), the hotel itself is relatively new and in good condition, and I particularly like the staff - very pleasant, considerate and respectful of guests. The weak link is that the rooms themselves are on the small side, the wifi signal is weak and not reliable, the windows in the room do not open, and the nearby dining is limited, especially in the late evening.

Wonderful Staff!
The Porter Square Hotel staff were wonderful. We contracted Covid during our stay, and had to quarantine and stay two extra days. The staff brought us everything we needed and left it outside our door for five days. They could not have been more gracious and supportive. Their attentive care made what could have been a nightmare into something that was only a mild hassle. :). We visit the Boston area regularly and plan to stay at the Porter Square Hotel in the future.

Very SMALL rooms but bigger problem if you are traveling with kids or friends … bathroom doors are translucent plastic semi see thru that also don’t stay fully shut and have no sound insulation … be ready for limited privacy

The overall experience is really good, the staff is nice, the room is clean, the location is awesome with a lot of dining options as well as a supermarket around. The only downside is the room is really small. We couldn’t open our bigger suitcase unless we move around some furnitures.
