Request room not facing street
Overall a decent hotel in a good location walking distance to shops and restaurants, but our rooms faced the street and the noise level was very loud and the curtains and shades are not light dampening enough so our sleep wasn’t very good.

We have friends who live in the area and we visit a few times a year. We took a last-minute trip this past weekend and I found this hidden gem of a hotel. It is absolutely GORGEOUS inside. High ceilings, a library and reading/game lounge, and some beautiful art that adorns the walls. The front desk staff is so friendly, it was clean and inviting, and our room was AMAZING. The high ceilings grace the guest rooms as well as the lobby. There is a little coffee/tea bar, and something I've never seen before- a mini "library" above the coffee bar. There were some great book choices there, and also a comfy reading nook in the one corner. The room was airy and bright, with the windows reaching up to the ceiling. The bathroom was spacious and clean, and there is shampoo/conditioner/body wash pumps in the shower, as well as a seat at one end to sit, place your items or shave.
One thing I will NOT complain about but others might, is the creaky floors. They are real wood and it is an old building, but it gives it so much character! There is no breakfast, but there is coffee and tea available 24/7, and there are plenty of spots within walking distance to get some food. The hotel had an attached small restaurant/pub which we did not get a chance to go to. The room rate is appropriate for what you'd expect at a place like this!
As long as a room is available, we will be staying here every time we visit the area. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

My stay was great & staff was super friendly. Parking was a cinch,, an absolute dream compared to Boston! My room was clean, everything was in its place and so specious I felt like I was in a suite. The closet is huge and more than accommodating to comfortably hold my things for a 5 night stay. I loved the white marble in the bathroom and the soaking tub was amazing. Next time I’ll be sure to pack bubble bath! The decor throughout the hotel was tastefully done and made me feel at home. Honestly, I was so comfortable I didn’t want to leave!
I just have 1 recommendation…
This being my first trip to Pittsfield, I was looking forward to checking out a nothing how old welcome book with information of attractions, restaurants, shopping, nightlife, etc which helps me acclimate when traveling. Of course, I can use the Internet or consult with hotel staff in the lobby, but it’s just a nice touch and something to read when unwinding.

We had a very relaxing stay and restaurant was excellent. The only problem was parking, we had to move the car from across the street at around 9pm. Other than that, I would recommend the hotel highly.

This is a unique hotel created out of historic buildings in downtown Pittsfield. Room furnishings and hotel lobbies and hallways continue a theme of "retro" style and artifacts -- a great concept for an older city like Pittsfield. We enjoyed our stay as it was the "right place at the right time" for us - with two caveats for travelers: 1) the restaurant in the same building does not currently serve breakfast (a fact which is apparent if you look at the restaurant's website, not the hotel's site). There are three local breakfast spots within walking distance. 2) The floors in the hotel rooms and hallways are wood and many areas are not carpeted. (Historic character, etc.) This can produce rather loud sounds from neighboring rooms if other guests are wearing clogs or high heels. To do any close neighbors a favor, I suggest all guests take such footwear off -- or that the hotel might consider supplying comfy soft slippers to all guests!

Comfortable unique hotel
Have stayed at the hotel several times during the years. Needs a little refresh with paint. Room last night smelled like cigarette. Found ash on the dresser. Couch had some old splatter on the bottom of the upholstery. The air vent had some strange old paper smooshed into it. Love the big shower. Bed was comfortable per usual.

If this still shows up as 3.5 stars, that really underrates it. It’s a lovely boutique hotel in a very recently converted old department store, full of thoughtful touches, good art, great furniture, and lovely staff. Our room was huge and gorgeous, from claw-foot tub to bed. There are various quirks of the old building—you hear the wood floors creak a little—but everything feels like it was renovated yesterday.
The only weak spot at all is the restaurant, which is sort of bumbling and slow, closes much too early for dinner (kitchen closes at 8 weeknights), and doesn’t serve breakfast. But there are a few other good options nearby, and it seems very fixable with some fresh management and a little investment in staff.

The hotel was terrific. I loved the rooms. Super big and comfortable, great bed and excellent shower/bathroom facilities. One of my favorite hotels that I have ever stayed in.
The negative piece was the lack of reponse to my request for a top floor room in a quiet area of the hotel. I sent the request in for this specifically several months ago when I made the reservation and paid for the hotel room. However, when we arrived I was informed that there was only a room on the second floor available for us to stay in instead of my requested 4th floor room. I was very disappointed as I am a very light sleeper and have trouble sleeping with someone walking overhead of my room at night.

Excellent stay at Hotel on North. The rooms are spacious and clean, with eclectic furnishings. The bathroom was great - excellent shower pressure, though a second sink would have been appreciated. I could hear some muffled noises from other rooms, but not enough to keep me up. The beds and pillows were comfortable and well appointed with lots of blankets. The staff was very helpful and even got us a roll-away bed the 2nd night for a slight up fee. All of the art in the hotel was amazing. I would definitely stay here again.
The restaurant attached to the hotel is just meh - but there are some good local places nearby especially for breakfast. The hotel is very centrally located and within walking distance of cafes, shops, and the Berkshire Museum. Pittsfield feels like a city in transition - lots of arts and culture, but also suffering some depression. I didn't feel comfortable walking along at night, but was fine during the day.

We loved out stay at the Hotel on North. Very quaint boutique hotel and ideally located to various tourist spots in the Berkshires.
Trip was for a family of 4. The reception area, hallways and elevator was well kept and clean.
The room were spacious and with 2 big teenagers did not feel crowded. The room had a retro Bluetooth radio, book shelves filled with books and well maintained. The bed was comfortable.
Our room were facing the Main Street and you would hear the traffic at times but a deal breaker.
Bathroom was HUGE with all the amenities. Overall i would book the hotel again!

The hotel was immaculate, well-appointed, smart, super comfortable, spacious. No gross w2w carpeting. The staff went out of their way and were always on hand. And they welcomed our pup providing bowls and dog bed.

This hotel is a little gem right in the middle of Pittsfield. The rooms have been beautifully appointed and the mattresses are top notch! If you are looking for a “boutique hotel” then this is it! Nothing generic about it! You won’t be disappointed! The city of Pittsfield is a work in progress, however. When you exit the hotel on North St. walking to the right towards Park Circle is more vibrant and alive than going left where there are a lot of empty storefronts etc….

Staff was excellent. Clean, and comfortable accommodations. Unfortunately, we were there on Mon and Tue nights and the restaurant (which was recommended by friends who live in the area) is only open Wed-Sun and only serves dinner. But there were many other dining options on the area.

I really liked the room, comfortable, plenty of space, lovely furniture, huge bathroom, Wi fi. It had all the amenities that I expect from a quality hotel. The building itself was interesting as I love old homes and hotels. The only problem was with the attached restaurant. I'm not sure it's owned by the hotel, but the service for Saturday evening was terrible and they didn't have coffee for brunch. However, the hotel lobby had coffee so we helped ourselves to that. Also, the price of the room was much higher than I think it should have been, but the convenience to the playhouse was worth it for one night.

Hotel On North is a beautiful property. It is spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. My only complaint: given the rather steep price for a room, and given that the hotel was fairly empty, it seemed petty to charge for a late check-out, increasing the fee by the hour while we waited for our train to leave. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay.

There's a nostalgic quality to this hotel that we love. It's a well-designed hotel in an old factory-type space. Our room with 2 queens was spacious, the beds were comfortable, great shower and good free coffee and tea. This was our second time and we will be back. I hope the prices don't go up too much though!

The Library Suite was interesting and beautiful, and unlike any other hotel room we've stayed in. The staff were extremely helpful; we were looking for dining options on a holiday and David called several places to see who was open and provided us with some recommendations. The parking lot in the back is very convenient. Wish the hotel restaurant had been open while we were there but there are dining options nearby. Dottie's down the street has great breakfast. The all-day free coffee/tea/hot chocolate was a big hit with the whole family.

We loved our stay at hotel on north! Very close to Jiminy peak which was perfect for our family ski trip. Walkable to museum, cafes and restaurants. Has a nice restaurant attached to the hotel if you don’t want to venture outside. People locally were so nice. The room was spacious and decorated very boutique and cute. We loved it!!

Winter family getaway
Loved our stay at Hotel on North! Restaurant on site had live music and great atmosphere. Beautiful gift shop, game room for the kids and very pet friendly (we brought our Boston Terrier). Staff was friendly and our room was so clean and cozy. We visited in December and the hotel was nicely decorated for the holidays.
We enjoyed exploring the area, found some other great nearby restaurants (check out Otto’s Kitchen for breakfast) and went to Bousquet Mountain which was only a 5-10 minute drive for skiing and snow tubing.
We’ll definitely be back again!

I loved this place! The decor was lovely and fun. The room was clean and comfortable. There was a lovely area on the second floor to socialize or read. Another area was geared for children or adults to play. Special unique works of art and antiques made you want to investigate every nook and cranny! The people I dealt with were super nice. I ate at the attached restaurant and not only did I have a great meal, I was lucky enough to have a delightful conversation while eating with a friendly bartender! Highly recommend!

Hotel well-maintained. Staff friendly. Hotel Manager, JP, went out of his way to meet us and provide great info and conversation. Neighborhood under renovation. Many closed stores. Hotel restaurant limited hours. Convenient (and free) parking behind building. We will definitely come back. Highly recommend.

Hotel On North is an oasis in the time-weary town of Pittsfield. From the moment you walk in, you know you're going to be treated well. This was my second stay following a 2-day visit last summer while attending concerts at Tanglewood.
The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are provided with special touches throughout, even a bookshelf with a variety of choices.
The only thing missing was breakfast on-site. There are options along North St. but they fail to meet the standards set at Hotel On North.
I wanted to stay a few more nights, and would have if I hadn't had previous commitments. This place is a gem!

We stayed in an extended stay room with kitchenette and sitting area. The room was great! Spacious. The kitchen area is so convenient. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was large and well lit. We were in town for 3 nights and attended a concert at tanglewood. The hotel is about 15-20 minutes from Lenox ma where the concert was and also where there are many restaurants and the shopping outlets. Easy drive. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay at hotel in north.

Great bed and the room was huge! I really enjoyed the industrial furnishings throughout the building. The area surrounding the hotel didnt seem to have much to offer but a staff member recommended Ottos and it was perfect! Dinner was fantatic but we had to return the calamari die to be being way over cooked. I would absolutely stsy here again!

From the Front Desk staff to the eclectic charm of the room & hotel in general, our stay was wonderful!! We cannot recommend the hotel high enough for anyone coming to the Berkshires! Great Hotel with a Great Staff
Really wonderful experience . We arrived around 11pm w/ our 2 dogs , the team at the front desk were great in helping us get checked in and explaining the parking as well as a list of restaurants that were open at that time. Even gave the girls a treat as the hotel is dog friendly.
We stayed for 2 nights and the staff were all professionals and really made you feel at home.
The hotel is beautiful and worth the trip from NYC,we plan on returning for a longer stay this summer.

Really wanted to stay at this hotel. Seemed like a good story of a boutique hotel in a struggling downtown. The rooms are noisy due to the location in the downtown and the old construction...all of that was understandable and acceptable. Staff seemed to care less about satisfaction. Not overly friendly and made no effort to see about whether you needed anything. Request of need to check out a couple hours late was met with yes, for an hourly fee. Never had that happen in decades of staying at hotels. The room was only "cleaned" every other day which meant new towels and making the bed...no more. Game room was filthy and falling a part. And, the adding restaurant staff, with the exception of one bartender, was equally rude/complacent to customer satisfaction. All in all the atmosphere of the place was very disappointing. Unfortunate, as I need to be in the Pittsfield area for 4-6 days per month for the next year or so and will be staying elsewhere where treatment of guests is better.

Toilet could have been cleaner. I always come equipped with my lysol...so ...it turned out okay.
The decanter with water in the room...hmm? tap, I guess. We didn't drink it; the decanter is cost effective, I'm sure, but bottled would be safer.
When asked about dinner suggestions, and menus, we were told that there was "everything" close by; the next day, as we were checking out, we saw a booklet spread out with breakfast and lunch/dinner possibilities--for us, too little, too late.
No sign of recycling in room or anywhere that we noticed.
bed mattress and pillow were very, very comfy; towels were also very soft.
Coffee and tea station downstairs was fine, BUT, a few bagels or a toaster with bread would have been nice.

Great Hotel. I’m from the area and go back now and again to see friends. I would recommend this place to anybody. The area around the hotel is ok. There are a few restaurants and bars but beware they may not be open due to weird hours because of COVID. Definitely would stay again.

Great hip hotel in Pittsfield
Nice little gem in Pittsfield and the best choice if you have kids or don't want a bed and breakfast.
Staff was very nice and accommodating. The on site restaurant was great and had excellent choices for kids and adults. Reasonably priced as well.
Will definitely come back when we're in the area. This is the best spot in between the skiing slopes of Vermont and NYC.
