The room was on Fremont on too loud. I was there for school and not drinking alcohol. Very uncomfortable and hard to sleep which made my next day of clinicals very difficult.

Oldest Casino Hotel in Las Vegas. The rooms are part of the original hotel. We were in one of the rooms in the original 80 year old section. Great restoration.
This is our tenth visit to this hotel. We love it and its position on the Fremont Experience.
Great fun. Great service. We love it.

It’s too noisy to sleep unless you’re up til at least 2am. Rooms are old and outdated, our night stand electric was out on it til the last night we were there. So we were not anble to charge our phones there. And we found a black like maggot on our bed.

This Golden Gate hotel was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in 15 years of traveling. I barely slept during my entire stay, which was compounded by my being from the East Coast and trying to stay on East Coast time.
The hotel is located just off of Fremont St (old strip), which I learned has bands playing music from 6 pm until 3 am daily. The hotel does not mention this during booking and seeing the room is discounted through Hotels/Expedia, they stick you in rooms on the noisy side of the building. The music and bass permeate the hotel, and you can hear its muffled lyrics and thumping bass all night. Worse, you have a single-pane glass window separating you and Fremont St.
My original room was the one on Fremont St, with a window overlooking it. I asked to move, and they put me in a room across the hall, which was better but still bad.
Also, the night before I was leaving, I got a phone call around 8 pm rudely telling me I had checked out and to leave the room. I had not checked out, and they had to go over their camera logs to determine that I indeed had not checked out. Then around 9 pm, they had someone come up, knock on my door, apologize, and give me drink cards that I’d have to use that night, useless.
The knobs that controlled the shower were more for suggesting temperature, taking minutes to even put out hot waterand I could pee harder than the water came out.

Cute historic hotel
A very cute historic hotel. Second time staying and just as nice as the first time. The staff is extremely nice and very accommodating. Very friendly. Fun place to stay on Fremont street.

This hotel is clean and in a very good location. But when they assign you the room they must ask if you want the room next to the tunnel or not because for me that was the worst they gave me the room with a view of the tunnel and you can't even talk much less sleep with so much noise and so much clarity of lights that They enter through the windows despite having closed curtains. And the heat was too much in the rooms and at midnight they changed our room. It was much better, you could barely hear the noise and you couldn't see the lights, but the heat in the rooms was too much and they don't have individual air conditioning in the rooms. so for me it is not an option to return to this hotel.

One of the older casino/hotels but still nice. Really enjoyed the fact that you walk out the doors and you are in the Fremont Experience. Plenty of dining options within walking distance. Only negative was that had requested a fridge in advance for the room (no they don't come with a fridge or microwave) and had to request again after checkin.

Shower was old tiny - tripping hazard due to uneven floors - bed was ok and sheets were clean
No tissues in room use toilet paper for your nose

At check in the two front desk girls were very rude . They changed the room I booked to one double bed it was so so small I had to call down to see if I could pay for a upgrade a room with two beds they hung up on me when I went down a young man was there he did help me but once entered the new room is was horrible I left and payed for another hotel !! I want a refund this hotel staff was horrible!

Rooms too small and too noisy to sleep! Would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy!
On top of that they kept charging my credit card randomly for no apparent reason. Took 4 days and 5 trips to front desk for results.

Loved the location. Was very well maintained for the age of the property. Our room literally overlooked fremont st. Was cool, but had its drawbacks. Biggest being noise. Music, loud music till 3am. Most people it would bother, but wasn't that bad for us as i am the type that needs noise to sleep.

The room was small but adequate. Difficult to adjust the shower to the right temp. Nice to be so close to Fremont Street Experience. Nice that I didn't have to request room cleaning or extra towels. I'm glad for the Hotel's excellent valet service because the neighborhood is awful and there seemed to be limited self serve parking.
Price seemed fair for the room and amenities. I would stay at Golden Gate again for my annual Thanksgiving week trip.

Stay away from room 245 if you stay here. Room is extremely small, shower is impossible to find a decent temperature, bed mattresses is maybe 3 inches thick and it smells. Theres nothing good about this room. Completely disappointed

The hotel is very old which is expected but they do not have any air-conditioning in the rooms. You have to open the windows to get any cool air into the rooms and bugs fly in and you can hear everything outside on Fremont Street so it wakes you up in the morning.

When I check in a 6pm, my room was not ready (check in is 3pm). I asked politely asked ifmy room would be pro-rated since I was paying for a full day, and not receiving a full day. I was told they would place me in another block of rooms which was ready. They then placed me in room 220, which is on the plaza with a rock concert about 75 feet outside of my window until 2am. I guess that was their way of telling me not to ask for my room to be pro rated when it wasn't ready on time.

Front desk was very accommodating by holding our luggage in storage while we waited for a text to let us know when our room was ready. Unfortunately that text never came through and we checked in a little after regular check in time.
A man knocked on our door a couple times claiming welfare check before letting himself in. They had multiple ways of checking in on us: cell phone, hotel phone, security camera that was literally right next to our door and card usage that would show we went in not even an hour before the intrusion.
Security claimed they do this if do not disturb tag is on for more than 24 hrs. -May be a policy we are not aware of but not printed anywhere.

Didn’t like that the pool was closed that was why we booked here also the carpet looks worn and bed was ok I think rooms should updated and the bathroom needs attention also you charge a expensive price for an adverage room our friends stay on Fremont street as well and their room was cheaper and nicer. They also stayed with your place too just giving my honest feed back

This was right at the beginning of Fremont Street so it was so convenient and close to everything. However, this is in the center of all the partying and crowds so you have to be ready for the crowd and the noise. It's classic old school Vegas. Not a family hotel but perfect for adults who want fun.

The rooms are smoking rooms and i got bronchitis from breathing in the smell in the room. It also takes 20 mintues to get hot water to come out of the shower. There is no attached parking garage. The rooms are small. Next, time I will pay the extra and stay at The D.

Stay anywhere else in downtown Vegas
Check in was atrocious. I sat in the lobby for an hour waiting for a "room to be cleaned" while 5 parties who arrived after me were checked in. After finally being checked in almost 45 min after the official check in time, i went to see my "city view" room which had a view of the center of the building with air conditioning.
Save yourself effort and stay anywhere else. The front desk person was terrible and nobody in the hotel was very nice.

They have done a good job of keeping this hotel clean and updated without taking away from the nostalgia. We did ask to be away from the noise however the side of the hotel was still very noisy from Freemont street until 2am

We loved everything about it. It would have been even more amazing if you would offer coffee in the morning in the lobby for your guest. That’s just a suggestion. Thanks for everything. We were right by the stage and yes it was very loud throughout the night. My husband loved it, he slept right through it.

Before I list the negatives I want to lead with how nice and accommodating the staff is here. When we first arrived we were placed in room 220. It was one of the earliest hotel rooms in vegas, which was interesting but it definitely showed. Room was tiny, shower was incredibly small with very old, cracked, stained tiles. We could hear EVERYTHING outside and even after that music stopped we could hear the BLARING casino music, so the noise was constant. We drove 14 hours to this hotel and got no sleep until about 3am. But staff immediately switched us to 210 the next day without fuss or fee. Room is much bigger and newer, and soooo much quieter. We had a lovely time without issue in that room, and the valet was excellent and let us stay after check out while we were waiting for our next hotels check in. Fremont is very overstimulating but fun, and easy to get everything you need on foot. Overall i would recommend asking for a quiet room when booking and you will enjoy your stay in a little outdated but welcoming hotel

Being anemic I wish I had the option to have the heat in my room. But, other than that it wasn't terrible. Even though I didn't have much of a view, it was very small and there definitely needs to be some major upgrades in the bathroom... I enjoyed my stay.

The room was OK for the price but a bit small if you're not travelling alone but they should REALLY warn people about the noise that comes from Fremont Street experience. On a Wednesday the music was ALL NIGHT and seemed to shake the room at times. Not a GREAT feeling would not recommend

Golden Gate was Golden!
We had an amazing stay. Upon arrival everything was exceptional. The Valet, MJ, was terrific and very helpful, the check-in was a pleasant experience, and the room upgrade was a bonus surprise! The room was comfortable and immaculate. The personnel throughout the hotel were always pleasant and helpful. Excellent location on Fremont Street. We stayed two days during the week, and I would definitely return! Room 408 in the corner, my wife especially enjoyed the view of Fremont st. and Las Vegas Blvd on the other side. We were able to open the window and hear everything from the Blvd and the Fremont Street Experience!!!
The beds were comfortable and the linens were clean. The bathroom was kind of small but served the purpose very well. Plenty of space for our personal items and a safe! Proximity to Fremont and public transportation are exceptionally easy. I am definitely booking again when I go back to Las Vegas.

My overall stay has been wonderful. I was surprised to see that there was no overnight housekeeping. Or no in-room dining. I can't swim so who wasn't really a big deal. The valet was amazing though thanks guys. The front desk was very awesome he was polite quiet calm. So I'll probably stay again try out one of the bigger suits. I think I like the overall old school field of the place.

This is the worst hotel; I have ever been to in my life. when you first come to the hotel, it's hard to find the front desk, it in this small corner. When you arrive the people at the desk are rude. I had a 3 pm check in they told me to come back later for a clean room. when they did call me. they make a excuse as why they need to be paid again. when they already were paid online. then when i get to the room it is very small. The halls to get to room smell like urine. when your in the room it smells like Embalming fluid. it is bad smelling. Their are fleas in the room that started biting when i stepped in room. the bath room still had crap in the toilet. room hadn't been cleaned in awhile. Checked out of hotel 10 mins after i checked in. would not ever stay there. Or ever tell people to stay there.

Don’t stay here!
Room was horrible! Both lamps on nightstands didn’t work. No connections to plug in to charge phones and other devices. Room was extremely loud and could hear the music till 2am. I’ve stayed at about 40 different place and this was the worst. Avoid!

It was my first time staying in DowntownLV and I really liked my stay at the Golden Gate hotel. It's in the corner facing the Fremont Street Experience so it's very convenient. You walk out and live entertainment and dining is right there! The front desk agent asked if I wanted a quieter room and I said "yes." I could still hear the live music playing from the Fremont Experience but I was still able to fall asleep just fine. The room itself is small but it was clean and got the job done. The casino is small compared to others but nice and everyone working was friendly. The fact that it's right on Fremont Street is what makes this place great. And it's a sister property with Circa and the D so you can enjoy some amenities there, I think. I didn't take advantage of this fact but you could look into it.

2nd stay better!
Mattress in room 34 is not comfortable, feels uneven, otherwise the suite is much larger and better choice than standard room by far.... rain fall shower is nice too. Circa and Plaza casinos are just across from each other so easy access. No more sports book at Golden Gate also, just betting machines now.

The hotel is old but has great character. It’s is clean and the rooms are updated. She shower was small and only the cold water worked. It’s is right next to the downtown strip and stays pretty loud late into the night but I enjoyed my stay and would book again.

Not modern, it's an old vintage style hotel. Did not like smoke smell. Ad pictures look nothing like the actual room. Very small room, very small bathroom. We could hardly walk anywhere in your room.

Stayed for my babys 21st bday. Checking in was an absolute nightmare! The rooms where dirty and was told We couldn't put a roll away in there. They said that there was no room. Got up to the room. There was plenty of room for one. Never again.
