Amazing- will be back
Everything was excellent and beautiful. The restaurants are great. I love that you can go down the elevator and have a nice dinner and amazing food. Dean’s is superb. I will say that I wish there was a mini fridge and microwave in our room- we had many snacks and leftovers that weekend so that would’ve helped. Otherwise, perfection.

Fantastic stay
Our stay at JW Marriot, although short, was extremely nice. We enjoyed our late night view of the city from the rooftop. We also had a few drinks at the bar and enjoyed the steakhouse as well. The staff was very friendly and super helpful. If we have the opportunity to return to Austin in the future, we’d love to stay here again.

Horrible experience at checking out
Everything was all good until checking out paid for valet parking as they went to get my vehicle it was parked on the street and expected me to take all my luggage out there when all other valet parking visitors got their vehicle in valet parking we were not treated the same as a paid customer like all others staying there. Then I was charge by the hotel for a the same night so needless to say I was charged again then it was just an inconvenience to my family and I had to call and wait to get this payment situated and now I have to wait for my payment to get released

It was ok
I have been to the JW more than two dozen times here. This was the first time i had issues. Something was wrong with the hot water in our room which was a little disappointing. No pressure to the hot water so the shower was lukewarm even at the highest heat.
The shower was also a combo shower, tub with a fabric curtain rather than glass so the quality here was lacking.
Never been in this type of room here but they should not have it.

Expensive for a one night stay. Bed and pillows are great; a nice shower. We loved it but there are much less expensive hotels with usual amenities such as a refrigerator and microwave. Other than that the surrounding restaurants and venues are outstanding.

The shower head alone was worth the stay! And the lighted makeup mirror! And the floor to ceiling views of the city! I could go on and on! They even brought me a refrigerator when I saw there wasn’t one in the room. Free bottled water, full Starbucks on the 2nd floor. I wish Starbucks stayed open longer than 3pm, though - especially during a conference when you need the afternoon pick-me-up.

Unruly kids everywhere!
Pool very disappointing there are signs that parents are supposed to watch their kids which they clearly don’t. They are jumping in doing cannibals into a 3 foot deep pool with no regard to other adults that are trying to enjoy their vacation as well. Some of these were just flat out dangerous I saw two kids almost cracked their head open and I let someone know, but security did absolutely nothing about it, I understand that you can’t prevent kids from being in the pool and I wouldn’t ask that but you should force parents to watch the kids while they’re in the pool not just drop them off and leave a for a nine-year-old alone. They were at least 15 unsupervised, very young children in the pool all day Saturday.

JW Marriott is a safe and clean environment. Any time I’m in Austin, I stay here and it’s never disappointed. There are wonderful dining options, allergy friendly and the staff is wonderful.

homeless all over the place
The hotel was wonderful. We visit Austin once a year, we love the city, however, it is amazing the number of homeless spread all over downtown, it is pitiful, something needs to be done right away.
There are many places to visit in the USA and abroad, if they do not care for the tourists, we do not mind to go somewhere else.

Beautiful hotel but service was not what I expected from JW. Self Parking was also $54. Check in took a long time and staff was hard to understand and not trained well. Manager had to step in and help. We called housekeeping to ask for an extra pillow and blanket 2x over 3 hours and it never showed up. Pool was nice. Great margarita. Not sure I would stay there again with so many other choices.

I had a really rough experience. The valet was most unkind. I had arrived late with no time to unload my vehicle or stand in the long check-in lines prior to my event there. They told me to just call for my vehicle and I could unload it later and send back through valet to the garage. When I did circle back, the agent told me they were really too busy with a very important event and I would be given my key to go there myself and unload it myself and walk back to the hotel with my bags and no assistance. I was furious! The manager comped my valet but when I called for my car the next day, the rude attendant acted like my ticket was wrong and said I had the wrong numbers and I didn’t know what I was talking about. She also tried to charge me $60 for the valet. She was so incredibly rude and condescending. Strangely, at 8:45 am that morning, maid service knocked on my door and the man told me I needed to check out by 9:00 man I told him no, it was at 11:00 am. He insisted I had to checkout at 9:00 am. I put the privacy sign on my door and told him I would call a manager, then the male maid began to change his line and said instead I needed to checkout between 9:00 am and 11:00 am. It was infuriating!! My room keys continued not to work during my stay and I had to go back and forth to the lobby several times to have them rekeyed. It was definitely not a pleasant stay. I was most surprised that the staff behaved the way they did. It was no mistake. They must behave this way.

There was no onsite parking available even to pay for, and the valet parking was way too busy and crowded and cars backed up. apparently there were two weddings and other convention things going on. We had to find parking and walk blocks in the rain to come and go from the hotel, very inconvenient, and Austin parking is a problem downtown and even the public parking was closed for some reason. In our room the smoke alarm battery needed replacement I think, it kept flashing about every 15 minutes, but luckily did not beep. It kept waking me up at night, and I wanted to tell hotel staff the next morning but there was too long a line to talk to anyone. Thanks, Patricia Kelly

Great location and the pool was phenomenal. However, the hotel is definitely a bit run-down. Our bathroom lights didn’t have lamp shapes on the bulbs. The top sheet kept riding up the mattress revealing big yellow stains. In room dining is a bust — food was cold and not much to offer. I ordered an oatmeal and it didn’t come with fruit, brown sugar nor milk. I think this is mainly a management issue. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay in Austin.

Check in was a mess. It took three front desk attendants and two managers to find my reservation. We were compensated with a $40 restaurant voucher, which was a nice gesture. The next morning my room got a call from a front desk clerk who said that my payment method for the room (which I prepaid) did not cover the full amount for my stay. It did, I had the receipt. But the clerk insisted I owed another $300-500 (the number changed a few times). Spoke to another manager who confirmed my room was payed for but couldnt explain where the clerk was getting their numbers from. Other than that initial headache the stay was nice. My room was quiet, which is impressive since my stay was during SXSW. The restaurants are overpriced, no surprises there. Burger Bar was the most reasonable and consistently good.

We booked a king room that was a bit larger than the usual room and it was plush! Very quiet even though we were on a lower floor. Dining options were great and it was located in a very walkable part of downtown Austin— very convenient. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

***(In the annoyed Chris Farley voice in my head) Downtown Austin, you are all Gay, everyone welcomes Gay, you're proud, we get it, please, for the love of whatever God you worship, turn it down a notch. Rainbow flags on every corner but if there is a Straight flag or Dog Lives Matter flag, I didn't see one. Geeeez. Oh, the homeless who call Austin "home" - you'd be BETTER off living in a van, down by the river!

The lobby is beautiful with lots of lounge space and a huge bar. The room was comfortable, with a great view, and clean.
The pool was absolutely disgusting and cloudy because there were so many people so we didn't get in.

I was disappointed at the fact we couldn’t get in the pool, I felt we’d arrived at a 18/30 holiday, because of how hot it was we choose a hotel with a pool but literally could not get in. For two days there was a pile of dirty laundry outside our room. And we were charged for our room when we had already paid for it and the manager promised a call to sort it out and as yet no call .

Unpleasant house keeper on the 32nd floor
The stay was pleasant beside the house keeping guy on my floor knocking on our room door at 11.05 am to ask us when we are getting out of the room. How bad do you need to clean the room, that we have to be rushed out just 5 minutes after check out. Most annoying experience of the stay.
