Overall very good, but tiny bathroom with almost unusable sink (with no stopper) but unnecessarily gigantic closet. Shower had some mildewed grout that needed attention.

The entire lobby smelled like wood fire from the pizza ovens in the restaurant. There was only one nightstand and one lamp in the room. However, it was conveniently located near subway lines and great restaurants.

I LOVE THIS HOTEL!
Love this hotel. Convenient to work for my business trip. Staff are beyond friendly and accommodating. Happy hour provides an excellent selection of wine and cocktails. The forno baked pizzas perhaps the best in NYC. room the perfect size. Bed comfortable and bedding luxurious.

Dont recommend, below average stay, poor amenities
I really wanted to like this hotel. I even changed hotels the day before so I could stay here. It looked pretty, cozy and chic online. Well...unfortunately it wasn't. The hotel lobby is nice, and so are the two restaurants. That said, my mother and I were aghast at the room condition. Bumpy carpets, loud unruly air conditioning, uncomfortable beds, dreary lodging/hallways. But what really annoyed us was no hot water for tea, no cups for drinking, no counter space, no fast service (even in an emergency) and bad communication with staff. I called at 6:38AM for ice for my swollen feet, and at 7:27AM, I still had no ice; despite calling several times and upon my mother leaving for LGA and asking directly. At 7:30AM, I hobbled to the nearby Starbucks and got ice. One of the restaurants also gave me ice because I couldn't count on the staff communication. Further, when I arrived- they gave me a hotel room next to a deranged tenant who duck taped negative messages all over her front door. My first room also had an impossibly small bathroom. That was the first impression. Then, they moved me to another room, where there was no counter space and my mother and I had to put our stuff on the floor. Yes, the floor. It was just a weird old "historic" hotel that shouldn't have tenants and should be updated. Moreever, the hotel should have better communications between the phone concierge and the lobby...especially in emergencies. For $250 a night, I don't recommend this NYC hotel.

The Redbury New York was the perfect place to stay for our overnight trip to NY. It was very clean and comfortable. We had a small room but it had all of the amenities we needed including a small refrigerator and in room safe. Parking was convenient as it was right next door. It was walkable to many of NYC attractions, restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed the wood burning pizza at MARTA, their onsite restaurant.

The staff was really nice. Everyone greeted you and was extra helpful. Room and bath were very clean and modern. I liked having the desk in front of the window to do work. Lots of restaurants and places to eat nearby. Two Starbucks around the corner and a large family park couple of blocks away.

The hotel is just reopening from the pandemic, and I found the staff welcoming, attentive, and most helpful. Room was nice - good linens - and super soft and full facecloths. Chambermaids were very attentive - didn't miss a thing. Location is great - subway lines a few blocks to the west or east. I'll be back!

Our stay at the Redbury was fantastic. All of the staff throughout the Hotel from reception, the Bar, the cafe and restaurant to the cleaners were very friendly and helpful. Alexandra the concierge made our stay even extra special with access to tickets and lots of useful information on how to enjoy New York. It was my partners birthday while we were there and she and Kayla arranged champagne and Chocolate to be sent to our room for the occasion. Even when the coronavirus lockdown started to kick in the staff were there to give advice on where to eat. The Hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable. It is also in a great locaation with so many attractions within walking distance or a short subway ride. I can give no better review than to say I would stay in this Hotel again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful lobby/bar/restaurant areas. I loved boutique feel of the hotel and the old photos of the city and celebrities. The room was small but extremely well laid out and had interesting decorative touches such as the collage of photos, art-deco clothes rack for more storage space. The room and hotel were clean and it was situated in a nice location. The closet housed the safe and refrigerator as well as an iron and ironing board. I will definitely return and have recommended the hotel to friends.

The hallways were horrible. The carpet leading to your room was lumpy down the entire span of hallway, to a point where it was unsafe. The view we had was of all of the condensing units onto of another building in an alleyway...better off not opening the curtains. There was a sense of charm to the lobby and your room.

The hotel was clean and very stylish. The rooms were very nice as well as the bathrooms. As nice as the staff were and pretty the place is the walls are very thin. You can hear everything. They need more sound proofing from inside the hotel and out. The room was comfortable but I couldn't sleep well because the vent was so loud clicking on and off and hearing garbage pickup ALL through the night was the most annoying. But other than that, the hotel again was beautiful, clean and the staff kind and accommodating.

I would recommend this hotel and had an overall good experience. The location was perfect for my needs, the room was small (as expected) but cutely decorated. Liked that there was excellent food/drink attached, and everyone I encountered who worked there was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The less good stuff: it’s definitely an older building a high is clear by bumps in the carpet, a sloooow elevator, etc. The bed was comfortable but not incredible, there was some noise at night that was moderately annoying but not impossible, and one day the maid service came but didn’t make my bed. I’d rate this an 8/10 for value + experience.

Amazing stay. Beautiful and fun hotel. Great restaurant and lounge area. Staff was very friendly. We were able to get a room with a view of the Empire State Building. Awesome! I am definitely returning to this hotel when I come back to NYC.

Great resting place after a day of sightseeing
We were incredibly pleased with our accommodations at the Redbury. We were greeted by a warm and friendly front desk staff who happily accommodated our early check in request. The room was clean and stylish with a comfortable bed and nice shower. Many reviewers have noted that the rooms are small, but I did not find them to be any smaller than other rooms in vintage city hotels. It was perfectly comfortable for me and my daughter. We would definitely stay again.

Overall great hotel
Such a cool hotel and pet friendly! The front desk was super helpful. My only negative comment was that for the weekend, our entire floor smelled of cigarettes and weed, our mini fridge did not work and was constantly flickering light, and there was a domestic dispute going on in the hallway from about 4-6am.

Second stay at this great hotel!
Unexpectedly found myself (with a number of colleagues) stuck in New York for 2 nights. Have stayed at the Redbury before, so suggested we try there. They were able to accommodate us all at last notice, and were more then helpful with regards to having our lost luggage delivered, and arranging taxis when we were due to go back to the airport. I love the style of this hotel, and it’s perfectly situated for sightseeing. Next time I find myself in NY I’ll be planning to stay again.

Breakfast is terrible! The rooms need caring.. There are electric cables pluged in the crasiest places. The heat makes tremendous amount of noise. The amount of waist of paper when they do room service is shamful! I like this hotel, there are very nice people working there, but they need to pay more atention to the rooms and room service

The Marta restaurant and the Cafe downstairs were the best parts of this hotel. Great quality food and environment. Busy every night. Positives: Staff were very nice but cleaning staff was the friendliest by far, esthetic was beautiful and we loved the hotel vibe and room itself. Perfect location for what we needed. Negatives: Clean, and newer bathroom, but flushing was a hit or miss situation, (that's NY though), taps are way too aggressive, hard to control and splash everywhere, not to mention not eco friendly. Shower temp takes forever and waivers a lot. No view. Could probably provide slightly better soap and shampoo products.

Special gem in the heart of manhattan!
We always stay here at the Redbury when we come into the city! We won’t stay anywhere else as we’ve had an amazing experience each time we stay! The staff are so friendly and welcoming! They make you feel like old friends from the second you check in! We were celebrating both a birthday and anniversary and the treated us with such kindness and generosity! The beds and pillows are really comfortable, shower is good, and the lobby and bar, restaurant, and cafe are top notch! Bartender at Vini e Fritti is incredibly knowledgeable about the wines and other liqueurs! Really a special place and we will be back to stay again and again!! Thank you!

A great stay!
I really enjoyed my time at the Redbury. The check-in staff was very helpful and so pleasant to deal with especially after a long day of travel. I was offered an upgrade which was terrific at a nominal cost and well worth it. The location is very convenient for transportation and I appreciated the multiple dining options at the hotel as well as in the surrounding neighborhood. Overall it was a great stay.

We first entered into the hotel and was greeted with confusion. The associates charged us twice when we were trying to pay for the room and hold a deposit which we are still trying to clear up with the hotel. The shower leaked but that wasn't the problem. It was just the overall service. We won't be going to that hotel anymore. Its unfortunate because from the outside and inside it looked very pretty.

This is not a 4.5 or 5 star property- not should it be included in the VIP program- the property did NOTHING for me as an Expedia Gold member- no upgrade, no late check out- NOTHING. You have to request turn down- which we did- and then never received it. 2 bottles of water are supposed to be given daily - didn’t happen- had to call twice and wait 45 minutes to get it... You truly get what you pay for at this property..

This hotel is pretty large for a boutique hotel, but things seem to be managed well. Our sheets were very comfortable; the soaps/lotions were good quality; morning coffee is excellent. Marta restaurant is very hip, and I appreciate that the restaurant is a no-tipping restaurant - this is a good thing to try, as it equalizes salaries among all those who work to bring your meal to you. I loved the celery root side, as well as the brussels sprouts - both were creative and so so tasty. Kudos to the chef! The restaurant was very busy but our server didn't rush us. The hotel room was quiet. My only nit is the darkness - the halls are dark (they are lit), and the resort fee is a bit high - it's a lot for internet (which is 'free'), in my opinion.

The hotel itself was amazing, rooms are good sized and beds are comfy, but arriving at the hotel we were charged a extra 100$ on top of our main price of the 3 nights, which wasn’t a problem at all but would have preferred to be told when booking the hotel as it came by surprise. A hotel and GM that's there for you!
Well, your GM Ram Purovic was a lifesaver!!! I was there on a business trip preparing a presentation for an extremely high profile client in NY when I had issues with my computer and connectivity. He refused to leave my side until it was resolved. He's not only a class act, but he's also gracious to all of the guess and has the attention to detail that the hospitality world really needs more of these days! One of my favorite experiences ever in NY. I would highly recommend this hotel as service, in the end, is what make a place stand out! Thank you, Ram, and to your staff for a great stay!

Clean historic hotel in a good, walkable neighborhood with friendly staff. We appreciated the well-stocked minibar, and we loved the products in the bathroom. The room was small, as expected, but it was nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was gorgeous! Picture perfect at every step you make. Everything was great and wonderful. Clean, great staff, excellent location because you are at the middle of everything and away from the big touristic crowds. The only thing I didnt like much was the very small rooms. Basically the size of your bed (queen size) and add a few steps to walk around your bed. That was it. But this trip was just for the husband and I and we didnt have the kids with us. Otherwise it wouldn’t have worked out at all. The bathroom was super clean and beautiful. I truly loved this whole. The small size of the room wont hold me back to stay again. Just a heads up on that. Also, when you check in there is a $100 deposit per night stayed. I was not awared of that till we checked in. However, we didnt break anything etc. and it was a weekend stay.

We liked the architecture of the building and the artsy feel. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had an issue with the parking, there is a parking lot literally right next door but the hotel has no discount or contract for their visitors to park their cars. The parking lot was blocks away and when we tried to park there our first night, the road was blocked and we were unable to park there for the discounted price. Also, when we proceeded to check out, I was standing at the entrance/exit of the hotel with our belongings on a bell cart. The bell man rudely came up to me and stated that I wasn’t aloud to be using the cart and that I should have requested for a bell man. I explained that I was unaware of this and he walked away and rudely said well now you know. All along, there were two other empty carts along the wall if he needed a cart. There were no signs or anything that says visitors were not aloud to use the carts. I felt pretty threatened and uncomfortable with his tone.

A mixed experience
Overall, The Hotel is good in all areas (eg condition of the room, customer service, location) other than the condition of the hotel itself when it comes to the communal/public areas. The hotel is in bad need of renovation with the communal areas very outdated and rather run down/tired. As a consequence, I could not invite to meet me at the hotel for any business meeting. I appreciate that this commentary refers to an area that the hotel owner(s) may have plans to attend to in due course. But right now, I would be unlikely to choose it again. Another issue is that the website is misleading when it gives the impression that there is a gym in the hotel when the reality is that the gym is located 5 streets and a block away. This is especially an issue to consider when there is an additional daily charge of about $35 for services such as the gym and wifi.

The room is so cold and dreary. Dust everywhere! I looked behind the nightstand and the ground was so gross from wall to wall. The vents had dust all over them and the room had a musty smell. I thought because Danny Meyer had such nice restaurants and bars in the hotel that the rooms would be decent but that’s not the case at all. Quite a shame.

Front desk staff was neither friendly nor welcoming. Seemed like I was bothering the gentleman by checking in. The other man seemed a bit nicer and let me know my husband had checked in earlier. Unfortunately, my husband was told we had no VIP benefits at check-in, which was a key reason we had chosen this hotel. The room was small but as expected for an older NYC building. Yes, we could hear street noise from our 8th floor room but that’s why I brought earplugs bc this is New York. At checkout, the front desk lady was nice enough to us but another guest complained he was late bc the building ran out of hot water and she did not seem to care and asked me “what am I supposed to do about that?” I would assume if someone called down and told the front desk there was no hot water, she would be the person who could do something about it. Her attitude was puzzling. One big shoutout to the Marta/room service crew. I was at the hotel while my husband met a friend for dinner before a game at MSG bc I’m pregnant and never hungry and usually tired. I’ve had Marta’s pizza before and the In-room options seemed tempting. I called and asked if the mushroom pizza could be made without the thyme as I’ve been really sensitive to herb smells. The lady on the phone was so nice and said she would let me know if they couldn’t accommodate me. The gentleman delivering it told me he had triple-checked no thyme before bringing it up. You guys are the bright spot in our ok experience at the Redbury.

Great location. Plenty clean. Comfy bed. Price was good and it worked out to be the perfect place for just a safe clean night. I didn’t do anything but show up to sleep and it worked out just as I hoped it would.
