Oakhurst is a nice little inn with a very old-style feel.
Positives: The staff was lovely and very helpful! The bed was VERY comfortable with a lot of nice pillows to choose from. I definitely enjoyed being close enough to their cafe to walk to it in the morning. The parking is very close to the hotel so it’s not difficult at all to move your belongings inside.
Negatives: There are some very large windows which, while nice to see outside and have some natural lighting, made the room feel very exposed especially as my room was on the ground floor and right next to the main road. I don’t think there’s much insulation in the older building because it was absolutely freezing at night, especially in the bathroom. (I had to close the door at night to avoid it sucking all the heat from the bedroom) While the bathroom was gorgeous, the water temperature wildly fluctuated between boiling hot and freezing cold with no happy middle. The fitted sheet on my bed was dirty, but I didn’t go to bed until quite late, so I didn’t notice until it felt like too late to ask for them to change it. Lastly (and this was on me for not checking ahead of time) the parking for one night was $16 which felt a bit excessive to me.
I think it was an ok experience for the price I paid with gold membership Expedia discount, but think there definitely needs to be some changes before I would consider staying again.

Located right on grounds so super easy and convenient to get to my son's concert and walk around. Very quaint place with oversized rooms. Very comfortable bedding as well. Will definitely try to stay here for future events.

Parking is difficult near the Inn. And the room did not have a refrigerator. We chose this location because it was advertised as 5 miles from Trump Winery. In actuality it was 35 minutes away.

Very nice hotel with an old vibe. No breakfast spot in the same building and the breakfast is actually a restaurant that doesn't have seating unless you make a reservation. We ordered to go and ate in the room and the food was excellent. Very friendly staff and close to everything. Would stay here again

We were very excited to arrive in Charlottesville with my daughter for a university tour. Unfortunately the lady at the front desk was rude and non service minded. It seemed she was inconvenienced by our questions which did not make us feel very welcome. The hotel hardly had anything on offer, only three sharing platter options that the bartender plated in front of me by the bar. He however was very friendly. There was nothing offered in terms of a coffee or tea in the morning and we found one apple on offer before we left. All other stays we have had during our road trip has offered at least coffee/tea and some fruit. We also had to pay for parking on the property and the cost was $16.99 plus tax. Once again why charge for parking on the parking lot on the premises? This is really cheap by the hotel. Although a cute set up and surroundings beautiful we would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The price was too expensive for what it offered.

Arrived on a Monday evening to a delightful jazz group playing in the very traveler friendly gathering area/lobby. Nicely appointed rooms in a stately older building that has been well loved and maintained.

Not My Favorite
Check in was very confusing. There is little signage to indicate exactly where to park for check in and parking is extremely limited around the main building where the check in takes place. The inn is actually 3 separate buildings which again is very confusing. Our room was in a building separate from the reception desk and the directions to for finding it were sketchy. The room itself was old and almost barren. It had limited sitting space and counter space. To say it was “straight out of the Fifties would not be an exaggeration. The best part about the inn is the location (adjacent to the UVA campus). Overall, I would give the Oakhurst Inn 2.75 based on the inadequacies compared to price. I would not recommend this property to anyone looking for “comfortable accommodations at a reasonable price.”

The hotel doesn’t look like on pictures. It is very cute, but the rooms are outdated. The walls are very thin. I stayed on the first floor and was up at 630 am, because people on the second floor decided to get up early and it felt like they were jumping there and moving the furniture. I’ve heard when they were using bathroom each time they flushed the toilet. The parking situation is not so good on the side, however they do have a parking garage where you can park. I came to the hotel very late, and after couple of unsuccessful attempts to park near the lobby, I was sent to the parking garage. Unfortunately, it was hard to find for me because of the constructions near by and because there are no lights on the street. In general, it is a very cute hotel, but it is definitely overpriced

Great location if you want to be on grounds in the JPA area. Nice front desk staff. However, no fridge in the room, no ice machines (you have to go down in person to ask staff for ice), and no room service (hence going down in person to ask for ice). The rooms are also very strangely laid out (e.g., the coffee supplies are in the bathroom).
Also, there is a $15.99 charge for parking your car on the street and no one informed us of this until we were checking out.

First stay at this inn and enjoyed our brief time there. Nice and quiet with good space by the pool. Only disappointing thing was bar was not open due to lack of staffing. We were looking forward to enjoying cocktail outside by the pool. Still enjoyed sitting by pool. Will definitely return next time in area.

You can do better in Charlottesville
I paid 550 per night for my room which was up two steep flights of stairs. The temperature was 81 degrees in the room when we arrived and stayed above 80 until after midnight. The room was not serviced. There was a kitchenette, but not even a bottle of water. No coffee pot, except a kettle to use with instant coffee. Nice bathroom. I was at a reunion and very sorry I didn’t choose the Hampton Inn scheduled for my class. It would have been better.

This property is old and has not had a good cleaning in a long time. At least a year of dirt on windowsills and moldings. Rugs are dirty and stained. No coffee in morning. Lobby bar is not open, cafe is down two flights of dangerous outdoor stairs. Rooms are small, very easy to hear other guests, AC not working. In short, I will not stay here again.

Interactions at check-in with front desk attendant were strained and uncomfortable. She was not familiar with Hotels.com VIP perks and refused to give us an upgrade (even though rooms were available on their website) and complimentary drinks (said she didn't know anything about this). Told us that we had to park in the garage, but that she would move our car and then just left it in 15 minute parking zone all night. Not great....
Room was dated and tv had multiple cords dangling loosely (definitely a chocking hazard for small children). Coffee & water machine in common area would have been nice to utilize, but there were no cups or coffee pods available. Not great....
Coffee shop / cafe asked what they could get for me when I walked in and then told me that I couldn't sit inside to drink my coffee and eat my biscuit since I hadn't been seated first and then ordered (although they never gave me that option which led me to believe that I was supposed to order with them). The two women working then proceeded to complain about specific tables & guests in front of me while I waited for my order. Not great....

I was visiting a friend at the university and this property was very convenient! A 5 minute walk.
I could not adjust/turn on the heat in my room which was not great.
Does not include breakfast.
The room felt almost antique while the bathroom was super modern.

A mini Arboretum! Bedecked in Spring Attire of every type of blossom, Oakhurst, viewed from the "Hall"looks like a tiny slice of an English countryside village. Loved that! It was carefully planned to be an oasis in the heart of UVa. Still working out the details of providing for such a large project. The staff couldn't have been nicer.

Property wasn't quite what we expected and there were a few weird things that surprised us. 1st, the photos make it look like each room has a sitting area and the Inn looks like a quaint, small boutique place. It's possible that we misunderstood the listing but we found out at check-in that we were not staying in the building that's in the photos but in another converted house which is one of several that they own on the street. The room we were in was off a shared lobby w/ a couch but there was only 1 chair in our room. There was a bench, but we ended up using that for our luggage as there was no other spot to put them. The lobby had a couple of coffee machines but they were actually not in service yet according to the manager. In room coffee was pretty disappointing -- packets of instant and a hot pot for boiling tap water. Also we only had 1 coffee cup and I had to go back to the front desk 2x to see if we could get a 2nd. The room/bathroom were pretty standard and clean, nothing to write home about. There doesn't appear to be any posted quiet hours and on our 1st night the folks above us were running up and down the stairs, slamming doors, and a guy was yelling at the top of his lungs like he was at a frat party. Thank goodness they checked out and the 2nd night was quiet. Oh, and the AC unit was locked out so we couldn't adjust and our window was directly above the sidewalk so no privacy without the shade down. Wasn't exactly the romantic & relaxing weekend we planned.

This is an older property. The front desk was not well marked from the street.

Good romantic weekend option
Good spot with a distinct feeling from the corporate-style of hotel. More like a B&B cozy vibe. This of course means compromises like no room service or in-room fridge/mini bar/etc., and the turndown service timing was a mystery, so we returned from a day trip to an unmade bed/uncleaned room. Not the end of the world but not ideal (a great bath in the generous, comfortable tub quickly made the girlfriend happy again). The property is amazing with a wonderful little park area for a picnic/hammock nap. Onsite restaurant brunch was below average food when compared to other options we've visited in the area, which was surprising and disappointing. Overall nice weekend/romantic spot but from our experience and preferences there are nicer options in the same cost range near by.

The room was small, but comfortable with a nice bathroom, good bed linens and towels. The Inn advertises a lobby bar with small plates, and this was one of the reasons I booked it - for a convenient light supper since I was arriving in the evening. But I was advised on arrival that it wasn't opening until March. There was no mention of this closure on the website when I booked.

The worst hotel I stayed in within this price range. The hotel room was so cold!! The heater didn’t work properly and we raised the problem multiple times until they gave us a portable heater. The staff weren’t helpful. First they said they had no crib for kids, I requested to upgrade our room (paid) so we get a king bed and have our kid sleeping with us, but we were told that it’s impossible, even though they had rooms available. Their reason was us booking the room through third party. Never heard such a thing.
I had to ask multiple ppl about kids crib to finally be offered a pack and play.
We were two families, and they had us in totally not connected buildings! We had to waste so much time to get basic things from them! I def don’t recommend them!

Needs some help.
If they had cleaned the room, the black fly infestation might not have been as bad as they would perhaps have cleaned up the many that we swatted on the walls. They only clean the room if requested 24 hours in advance and when we did, it was barely done- no replenishment of coffee or towels or pick up of dirty dishes. Complimentary coffee at the bar showed up the last morning of our 4-night stay. The place is cute and well located and the dipping pool nice, but management needs to step it up. It was not inexpensive and I would not go back.

We really enjoyed Oakhurst Inn, it was quiet and quaint with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were friendly and approachable, the diversity of staff and guests was a pleasure to witness. We experienced Monday's Jazz and Gin night which was a relaxing and fun. The adjoining cafe had some great breakfast options and when it was closed on Tuesday we were offered free coffee and pastries. Wish we could've stayed longer!
I'd recommend ear plugs if you're a light sleeper like I am, the floorboards are creeky if you're sleeping below other guests.

Parking is cumbersome. Not a major problem. Disappointed in my morning coffee! Instant Starbucks was the offering? So many nice spots around the property to enjoy a good cup of coffee and all for naught! Perfect lounge area for a coffee service in the AM not used. At the Oakhurst price coffee should be a given!

Overall, we enjoyed staying there. It’s close to the hospital. I didn’t get to try the jazz night but the room looked fun. I’m sure the cafe is good too. The only issue we had was with the air conditioner. It needed to be reset multiple times, which really isn’t that big of deal except if you’re tired and want to sleep.
The valet service was great. It’s really the only way to park and you can schedule when to have the vehicle brought out for you.
It’s also close to a lot of restaurants and fun stuff to do.

While this property is centrally located, it was oversold and underwhelming. Amenities were minimal, parking was very limited, and rooms were cramped and dated. For cost, wouldn't recommend for anyone looking to have a cozy romantic getaway.

The inn itself is super cute. You have separate building so it definitely has a bed & breakfast feel. I found the pictures online to be deceiving because the room pictures show a living room, but your actual room is just a bed and bathroom (quite small too). The living room is a common area. There are quiet hours after 10pm, which for us as a young couple is not really something we were looking for. The rooms are really close together so it doesn’t feel like it is very private. I think some people would like this set up, it was just not for us.

It's a very unique property VERY close to UVA. It's part of a residential circle with very nice homes situated here. The circle does offer some parking challenges, but we timed our arrival just as someone was leaving so that was not a problem. The biggest concern was the temperature of our room. The outdoor temps that night were in the high teens, so our room never really warmed up even with the use of a space heater. The room was definitely not what was expected on the website- quite small. I felt like we were staying in a NYC hotel room, based on the size of the room. So that was a bit disappointing.

A gem of a find
Oakhurst does a really nice job of filling the space between private home rental and a traditional hotel. We had a two room suite on the first floor of a historic home that had been fully updated in a contemporary style while maintaining the historic character of the building. Having a graciously staffed front desk make check in straight forward and pleasant. It is one of those gems you occasionally discover while traveling, I would definitely stay here again.

A charming inn - actually, a “main house” with three residential cottages - is very well situated near the university and downtown. Our bedroom/bathroom were immaculate; a central parlor/reading room, available to guests in adjoining rooms on each floor of the cottage, “expanded” the living space. Staff was very helpful. We also enjoyed a delicious brunch in the cafe.

I was not impressed. I called before asking for a restaurant recommendation and the woman rushed me off the phone. I arrived and the person was eating fast food. I had to park all the way around the block. The couch sleeper was not made up for us. My room smelled like cigarette smoke. I don't recommend.

Many unexpected downfalls.
Hotel was very clean but there were many things that were not as expected. The "rainfall shower" does not come from the ceiling. It's just a large shower head. Don't expect some nice fun romantic shower. Our bathroom door wouldn't close because it hit the door frame. This was also directly in front of the bed and next to the tv. So there's not privacy when using the bathroom. The TV was very small and hard to use. There's no button for a guide. You hit "channel up", wait about 6 seconds to see if a show would show up. If that channel is not available, it takes about 9 seconds to figure that out. By the time you find a show to watch, it's over. The building was also very noisy. You can hear everyone walking around and going up or down the stairs. Nobody was partying but it sounded like someone was coming through our door all night. I also expected to have the soaker tub since I got the most expensive room they had, but there was no tub. Just a shower with no door and a cheap shower head. They also had a cheap make shift coffee pot instead of a normal one. The bed was the only nice thing. It was very comfortable. Once I gave up on the TV and got used to hearing everyone walking around, I slept pretty good. I definitely would not go back though.

It's a bit outdated, it's also pretty noisy, the beds weren't very comfortable, and the bathrooms were relatively dirty. As far as amenities are concerned there were not very many. Having a coffee maker would have been nice.
