We absolutely recommend the regency in Boston
We loved our stay at the hotel. We were very impressed with the staff. From our first night coming in, we met Charlie who made us feel so welcome and absolutely set the scene for the rest of our stay. The breakfasts were delicious, the breakfast staff were so kind and any concern we had was taken care of right away so much so that our needs were anticipated. We were thoroughly charmed by the regency and we will certainly be coming back here. Just another thank you to Charlie for being so attentive to us during our stay. Until next time!

Great place to stay in downtown Boston
For this short stay, all was great here -- the location is perfect, a short walk to the Boston Commons, Beacon Hill, and South Station. The bar was excellent, good food and drinks, the gym is first-rate, and the rooms are spacious. The only ding is that they have little tables by the couch instead of a desk, which would be much handier.

We had issues with the shower control which got resolved. We were there for 2 nights and asked for our room to be cleaned on the 2nd day, this did not happen. The bathroom toilet did not flush properly and was not dealt with. We had a rude experience with a concierge team member at the car park level who was awkward.,rude and obnoxious . We also had to pay a $60 destination fee for our . Seeing as we did not use the dinner service to get $10 off or the Wi-Fi , why did we have to pay it. I reported all of the above on departure and was not offered any explanation apart from a weak and generic apology. Asked to speak to a manager and was told by the receptionist that he was the manager; again all he offered was an apology and said he would look into our issues. Didn’t install any confidence and unsurprisingly haven’t heard anything back. The hotel is nice however my overall impression of the service and staff we received was poor and as such I would not choose or recommend that hotel ever again.

Great Location, Could use some upgrades
The hotel rooms are generally tidy, and the hotel itself is in a great location and the staff are extremely polite. If I were to be particular, the bathrooms are quite small, especially considering I booked a larger king room. I anticipated a more spacious bathroom; I noticed that some areas could benefit from renovations. The presence of old tubs instead of walk-in showers was a bit disappointing. Additionally, the pillows on the bed were thin, requiring all four to be used by one person, leaving my partner with practically nothing.

We booked a x2 double bed room for family trip with 2 adults and 2 kids for new year. We arrived pretty late flying in from uk. There were no rooms with our bed needs available when we tried to check in - no fear above and beyond in the service sept - swapped for x2 interconnecting kings with common/ state house view- comp bre fast buffet for 4 people for each of our 4 night stays and comp destination fee.

Quiet, easy check in, stayed on New Year’s Eve and was greeted with champagne. Room was even upgraded for free to a junior suite. Definitely will come back again in the future - very friendly staff and clean room.

It said it had parking but did not specify its $41 a day if you don’t move your car for self service and $58 for valet (you can move your car and come back for the flat rate). Breakfast costed $62 for 2 people without drinks. The room was mostly clean but tub had stains and the pillows were not comfortable at all.

The Hyatt Regency was a perfectly nice hotel to stay in. Nice, clean, quiet, room. Downtown location, if that's what you're looking for. It's near everything you would expect. One kind of annoying thing, the on-demand movies were all $20. I have a particular irritation with that sort of captive pricing. I think a small thing like some free or even lower cost movies would leave a nicer feeling about the brand. I would think the "Hyatt" experience they're aiming for, the one that gets you to come back, is the feeling of being cared for- not gouged. Something good AirB&B hosts seem to have an edge on. A small sort of thing that can leave a feeling- for better or worse.

My experience
I wanted to share my recent experience during my stay at your hotel. While I was looking forward to my visit, the check-in process left me feeling less than welcomed. However, the most significant issue I encountered was the unpredictable and persistent noise coming from the walls of my room. It was reminiscent of the sound of maintenance work, making it quite challenging to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. I believe addressing this noise concern would greatly enhance the overall guest experience.

This hotel is really convenient and centrally located to get to all the places in Boston you would want to visit . The service however was appalling I was asked at check in whether we would like our room cleaned every day, yes please. Then to come back from a day out in day one to find our room not cleaned. Breakfast was included in the room rate. Breakfast options were great and was self service. We were asked to sign the receipt each day before we left breakfast and it included a service charge. Didn’t sign and was chased out of the restaurant demanding I sign. Reception staff were not consistent. The concierge downstairs at the entrance were always helpful. If you want a good location and don’t mind bad service this hotel will be good for you

I'd like to give this 3.5 stars as there were some nice things about it. But this is more a rating for the price and experience with comparable properties. Good: location couldn't be more convenient. It's really close to Downtown Crossing subway station on the red line and is right by Chinatown. There's bustling retail (TJMaxx, Marshall's, Macy's), lots of restaurants, and the staff are trying hard. The hotel itself was very quiet (there almost seemed to be no one staying on our floor besides us and there was no noticeable traffic noise, etc.). Sheets and linens were very comfortable and clean. Improvements: the hotel itself is very dated though perhaps we got a non-renovated room. I think it's misleading to advertise it as a four star hotel. This is a solid three star property. The water pressure was poor, it looked like the faucet itself had been installed upside down, and there's other modern amenities missing (automatic de-fogging mirror, dated fixtures and public areas from an interior design perspective). It's much more of a business hotel with a late 1990's / early 2000's vibe. You can tell they're chipping away at gradual renovations and I empathize with the cost associated with overhauling such a large hotel. But it has to be done if they want to stay competitive. We booked this because of the location being right smack downtown but given the layout and walkability of Boston, I'd suggest another more modern property at another part of town for this price point.

I paid out over £500 for a one night stay including breakfast and there was one major problem that went unresolved and knocks back the several good issues. For that kind of price I do not expect to have to flush the toilet every time using the liner from the waste bucket and water from the bath. The issue was reported to the front desk and was to be looked out while we were out for the evening but nothing happened. This totally overshadowed the great staff in the restaurant and concierge area and the quality of food at breakfast. From a dining perspective there are better choices within a couple 100yds.

My complaint is the additional "Boston service fee" I received. $80 a day for "faster" internet, $10 food credit (if I order food there) and a free cup of clam chowder, is ridiculous and unwarranted. That reason alone will keep me from staying there again.

This is our third stay at this hotel while our soon is attending College in Boston. Our only beef with this room was very little closet space: the hangup area was about 15" wide (no kidding). The room could easily have accommodated another 24-36" of hang-up space without substantially altering the floor plan. Don't get it. =E=

$30/day destination fee!? It’s a hotel, I’m a traveler; of course, there’s a destination. But I don’t understand the fee. This is in addition to the hotel tax you’re charged when booking the room. Certain amenities are expected to come with a nice hotel. Wi-Fi, pools, restaurants, bars; I thought these were covered with the hotel tax. It seems like double taxation for the same features. The hotel was nice, the location was great and the staff was great, but that’s what you expect from a 4/5- star hotel. The fees are so unnecessary. It’s price gouging. For that reason I can't give it a 5 star. I spent $60 extra for no extras.

Not worth the nightly rate plus fees.
First off, and I wish I had read through more reviews, but they charge a "destination fee" nightly. As if they're a resort offering much more than just a bed and a bathroom. You aren't made aware of this until you show up. Secondly, the hotel was surrounded by homeless, and drug addicts were often present in the hotel. We had a couple hop on the elevator with us that were clearly on something, and pressured us to use our key card to get them to the floor they wanted. Thirdly, the bed in the room is quite hard. Really not very comfortable for a $500+ "four star" hotel. Fourth, we were going to go to dinner at the in house restaurant. We got there and there was only one other couple, nothing in the buffet trays, it looked like they weren't even open. We went down to the road to a restaurant. We did, however, have breakfast in house one morning of our stay. $64 for two for a buffet, which had cold food and not a very big selection. To top this all off, checkin is kind of confusing. The hotel has a lower lobby with a concierge desk, but you need to go upstairs to the main reception desk to check in. It seemed a lot of arriving guests were confused because of this as well. Personally, I wouldn't stay again. Plenty of other options downtown that would provide a better stay.

Tired. Bathroom fixtures falling off the walls, broken bathroom doors, chipped tile. Room lighting fixtures hanging off the walls. Filthy lampshade. No room service. The “all day dining” isn’t, with a big gap in the middle of the day when no food is available. Not worth the rate charged.

Hotels.com should have a way to list all extra expenses when quoting a price. $58 on-site parking and $30 a night “destination fee”. All disclosed in a timely email one day prior to our stay. No time to book elsewhere. Great staff and location!

Great location. Many, many sights are within easy walking distance. Staff from front desk, concierge, porters, cleaning people, and restaurant staff was outstanding. Small nits were complimentary water (with fruit) in lobby was empty half the time (but delicious when filled), and a wake-up call we requested one day was never received.
