Even Better than Last Time
I stayed here a few years ago and again this weekend. The room was renovated. The bathrooms were nicely done. Everything was very clean. The bed was a little hard for my liking but my husband was very happy with it. Full breakfast in the morning was nice too.

Long weekend in C-ville
We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the English Inn. We had stayed one night a week before and decided to return for a long weekend. Not a cookie cutter chain, nice seating area near fireplace, huge pool, comfortable beds, and a wonderful full breakfast each morning. The location is great, close to UVA and other activities and any shopping you might desire.

The atmosphere was cozy and warm. The fireplace in the lobby with several seating options was really nice. Coffee, hot tea, ice water, cookies were out all the time. Breakfast was good with multiple options. The price could not be beat and the room was very clean. They had an indoor pool also! I was less than 15 minutes from the Downtown Mall, Carter Mountain Orchord, Monticello, and several great food options. They are dog friendly and put you on the first floor. I will definitely stay again when I go back to Charlottesville.

The English Inn may be the best value in the Charlottesville area. While the inn’s exterior and lobby may not look contemporary, they are fine and clean and the guest rooms have all been recently updated and are very comfortable and attractive. The staff is very helpful and the complimentary breakfast is excellent (loved the background soft jazz music). Finally, the location is great as you can easily get to anywhere around town from here. This will be my choice to stay whenever I return to C’Ville.

Amazing location and value.
Room was extremely clean, large fireplace in the lobby and quick check in. Indoor pool is large and warm. Central to everything. Breakfast was amazing! Buffet style. Potatoes, pancakes, biscuits and sage gravy, eggs, bacon, yogurt, cereal.... you name it. Breakfast apone would cost you 20 bucks a person anywhere else. Hreat bargain.

Overall we had a nice stay! The rooms were clean and well kept. The vibe is very cute and welcoming. Staff was helpful. The pool is quite large but needs a little updating and was a bit dirty. The halls near our room smelled of cigarette smoke but admittedly I am sensitive to smoke.

Awesome hotel VG, very dog friendly
My family and I had a perfect vacation~ First of all, the water was very hot, which is 100% hot for an older hotel! The swimming pool was also very clean and "usable", and the water was warm^_^Breakfast It’s as good as everyone said, especially the oatmeal! It’s not quick to cook! It’s super delicious~ I ate three bowls, and the sausage was also delicious, not the microwave kind..
In short, there is almost nothing to fault. BODO's bagels are right next to it, so you can enjoy delicious food at any time~

Wonderful stay in Charlottesville
The breakfast chefs were personable, helpful, and kept everything clean and well stocked. Breakfast was varied a bit each day and was fresh and hot. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. It was also wonderful having a pleasant sitting area with TV and small kitchen. All staff were friendly. The pool was refreshing, but there were some leaks in the skylight, so drops of rainwater were falling into the pool. Also, a young guest found something strange at the bottom of it. It appeared to be a sheet of paint that had fallen off of the plumbing overhead and into the pool. Just would like to let the staff know about this.

Great location and easy access to UVA, restaurants, and community venues. The breakfast offerings were refreshed regularly and the dining room was clean. The carpet in our room was stained but the rest of the room and bathroom was clean. This was a good option for our mid-week visit.

It was a pleasant surprise for us with a cookie/tea hour at 4 pm, an large indoor pool that was open late, a fitness center and a free delicious breakfast buffet 😄 .

This was my second stay at the English Inn in the last 7 months. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful. It has everything we like in a hotel room (microwave, refrigerator, wi-fi, tub for soaking at the end of the day). The shower water pressure was fantastic - I wish I had that pressure in my home! They could use more drawer space for clothes (only two drawers), but they have an ample closet and floor space for suitcases. The complimentary breakfast is absolutely the best I've ever experienced! And we really appreciated that there were NO TVs in the breakfast area nor in the fireplace seating area off the lobby! So relaxing!
They could maybe upgrade the windows to be more soundproof as one morning the leave-blower outside was rather disrupting. But probably most people were out of there rooms by then (we just happened to be having a quiet morning in).
We'll be back!

Our stay here was great. A tiny bit dated, however, it's charm, staff and breakfast outshone that. Upon walking in I felt like I was walking into a Murder She Wrote and Angela Landsbury was going to enter any minute. This Inn is conveniently located to downtown, mall and University.

Very clean, spacious rooms with bright lights in the bathroom and large shower with glass sliding doors. The FREE breakfast was outstanding. Lots of food and beverages to choose from. The hotel lobby is cozy and comfortable with a running fireplace. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel made the effort to decorate for Christmas with lights, and simply made decorations. And the yummy chocolate chip cookies available in the lobby were a nice perk too. We enjoyed talking with the man managing the breakfast bar.

This hotel is so charming! We always go for the more affordable hotels and they are usually nothing special. But this one has a lovely and inviting lobby, a great breakfast and super pretty property. It's our go to home now when visiting Cville family. I really can't speak highly enough of the lobby, especially for morning coffee.

The property is quaint and beautifully decorated in the English style. My stay was extremely quiet. When I was assigned a room without a bathtub, the staff upgraded me to a suite at no charge. The room was clean and comfortable and the bath was delicious--deep and long with lots of hot water!
The free wifi was appreciated and the TV was large and new.

1/2 step up from motel 6. It was quaint and nicer in the 80’s and early 90’s. My brother was a bell hop there. Now average and smells like cigarettes in the lobby.

Lovely hotel with very comfortable beds and nice showers. The breakfast could have been better, but it had a good number of options. It is a little difficult to get to coming off the highway, but that isn't the property's fault. Would certainly stay here again!

Nice hotel, convenient to shopping. Interesting architecture! Only minor issue was the heating and cooling unit. No way to set the mode, and so if you adjusted the temperature it was either pushing out really cold or really warm air to quickly get to the new temp number.

We had such a nice room, our kids had space to themselves and our dog was welcome. When our dog let herself out of her room, staff were kind and polite when notifying us!! We would definitely stay again. The location is convenient to many store and restaurants!

Not what I expected…
Quiet little inn located minutes from UVA hospital. Staff was extremely friendly and check in and out was a breeze. They put hot cookies out in the lobby with tea in the afternoons which was lovely. Will definitely return! Very cozy feel at home feel in a city.
