This place would be a steal if they emphasized cleanliness. The small rooms are fine for solo travelers, hearing your neighbors snore is a pain but a bit overblown by the other reviews, and the bathrooms were fine (I'd advise you to bring shower shoes). But this establishment has bedbugs and that is completely inexcusable. If the Bowery Grand Hotel just washed their damn sheets consistently, it would be the greatest value for a room in NYC. Until that day comes, I'd advise you to stay away.

The room was just a size of a closet. Almost couldn’t fit my suitcase in it.Can’t hardly even move around. There is no ceilings. Just wires. While in your room You can hear the others on the snoring, coughing, watching videos on their cell phones. I had trouble sleeping and was woken up numerous times during the night. The lobby had at least 2 to 3 homeless people sleeping in it.The bathrooms are old and moldy. No toilet paper & paper towels.

not the worst place to stay ever, but not good
the bathrooms were a little gross, and the room wasn't the cleanest ever (but no bugs in the bed or anything). it's kind of 50/50 whether or not the bathroom you enter has toilet paper or not. honestly the worst thing was being unable to sleep due to how thin the walls were - you can hear every time someone takes the stairs or has a conversation/coughs/sneezes in the hallway or lobby. even though i brought earplugs, i only slept for a few hours due to the sheer amount of noise. if you literally can't afford to stay anywhere better then it's acceptable, but if you have wiggle room in your budget i would say to find someplace else where you'll actually be able to sleep.

It was cheap and the staff were helpful but that's all I can say that was positive. Room was tiny - if i was 2 inches taller I wouldnt have been able lay flat on the bed with no window or air conditioning. You can hear what's going on in the entire hotel from your room so don't expect a good night's sleep. Went to the toilet and there were lots of tiny flies to keep me company.

It was a cold shower upon arrival, the main door is held with tape, a small staircase welcoming cockroaches leads to the “reception”. If we can talk about reception since it is a room filled with cardboard and piled up junk. The “bedroom” is actually a closet barely big enough for 1 person. The mediocre bed takes up 2/3 of the space, plus the yellow marks on the bed, the walls, the mold and the dust make you not want to spend more than a minute there. Not to mention that this small room does not include any windows. Then the shared bathrooms are repulsively dirty, reflecting repugnant hygiene. Finally when we decided to leave the premises 1 hour after our arrival the host kindly smiled at us and wished us a good day, we wonder, is he used to his customers fleeing after paying? In summary this place should no longer appear on travel platforms and remain a reception center for the homeless.

They are living there like they are on the streets everything scattered and they are disgusting zombies. I have no problem with homeless but this is beyond what I have ever experienced. They expect you to put up with this 5 m from my room. They put the no refund policy to take your money. Do not book this accommodation pay a little more somewhere else. The Homeless Shelter Experience
I walk into a 2nd fl office where dirty clothes, food trash on the floor and a drunk dude passed out in a lawnchair. Receptionist ask for $25 cash refundable key deposit. Rooms are 7'x3' closets with chicken wire ceilings - no climate control/ television or any luxuries other than a jailhouse toothbrush, micro bar of soap, condiment size shampoo & lotion packet. Old dead mattress on wooden shelf thats it. Linens disgusting, bathroom even more disgusting - just a place to lay your head with the bedbugs and other things crawling and flying around. You can hear the person snoring and farting on the other side of the floor!! This building needs to be condemned. The upper floors in this building are a mens only halfway house/ shelter. You realize you just paid $80+ bucks a night to literally sleep in a NYC homeless shelter experience

It's a cheap place to stay , not the cleanest bathrooms with so many using them but there are 4 on the floor I stayed. Relatively quiet considering there are no ceilings, there was a couple tiles and Chicken wire up there to let the Air condition come through, my room had a Fan, I have stayed in rooms without a Fan and just a bed during the Summer and never had an issue being hot at night, the air conditioner works well in the building. I do wish there was an elevator to get up to the 2nd level where this Hotel is, it is above the Store below, so you have to walk up a flight of steps tot get there. Staff is very friendly as to why I have stayed here like 3 times now with no issues. The surrounding area doesn't look the best but I have felt safe each stay there.

The shared bathrooms are disgusting and the place has roaches. The bedrooms are closets just big enough for a twin bed to fit in and stand up next to. It's just really poor. The host is OK, but that's about it. It stinks, you hear everyone, the room is insanely small. Granted, the price is relatively competitive for NYC, but it's still seriously overpriced. I mean, you share the same ceiling; so you hear literally everyone, it's like sleeping in a big dorm.

And brooklyn bridge and statue of liberty ferry tours within easy travel distance. Also it is close to lots of subway stations means you can get to times square central park, museum of art and strawberry fields easily, with a metro card. It is not a luxury hotel clearly a one star premises for travellers on a tight budget.

Onsite steaming hot water free (for tea instant coffee) cold water $1.50. Watched my bag after checkout so I could go out before my evening flight. Walls are thin so I tried to stay quiet. Not a good idea to stay here...
The hotel manager (receptionist) was the only good thing about the hotel. He was an incredibly friendly gentleman, very helpful with any questions I had. The room however, was basically just a bed with a 1ft clearance on the left side and 2ft on the bottom, very small. My room was under the air vent, and very noisy 24/7. The sockets were unusable, and some even had black soot marks, making me believe that they had either been overloaded or involved in a fire in the past. I would not recommend this hotel. The bathrooms were also filthy, always having hair everywhere, I never went in bare foot, I didn't want to touch the floor with skin. And there were flies constantly coming out of the drains in the centre of the floor of the bathroom, only ever 1 or 2, but still, revolting

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
In my opinion this hotel should not even be listed on Hotels.com or any website..in fact in shouldn’t be in operation. Walking up the long staircase (spoiler alert.. there’s no elevator) one is bombarded with the stench of cigarettes, despite the place being advertised as smoke free. You are checked in to the desk and given a key to a room that is essentially a closet with a bed, all lined up like sardines in a can. When your ‘neighbor’ turns on their light it will light up your room as well. I had many sleepless nights due to someone nearby continually having a coughing fit and it was impossible to feel safe in anyway there. The bathrooms have mold and flies, and you have to request any kind of toilet paper from the front desk. Also they do not provide towels of any kind, so you’re darn outta luck if you don’t have one readily available. The beds are old and dirty, the blankets have cigarette burns in them, and my ‘neighbor’ next to me said he was finding bed bugs in his mattress. When I left I immediately showered and washed all my laundry as I felt filthy just being in there.

So, clearly, this place offers a cheap room, which is important, and I don't need much, but I've done other places in the city with shared bathrooms, and they manage to keep the bathrooms clean. This place definitely does not - there was no toilet paper pretty much for my entire 14 hour stay, and the 3 functioning bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. The small room I was expecting, but the blanket was pretty sad, and because of the bathrooms, I probably won't be back. If you're worried about safety, this place is also not particularly comforting - the door is almost unfindable, though you could probably ask the guys who live outside next door. I didn't feel unsafe, but I'm very used to the city.

Its $64
Its $64/night in NYC. You get what you pay for. Sheets felt fairly damp, towels were a little stained, and the room had cracks/chips/paint mismatch. Bathrooms are cleaned daily so shower and use the bathroom early. Bring your own tp just in case. Its across the street from bars and nightlife which is fun, and it has a locked outer door and your own room key/lock so valuables are safe
