Property has nice pool area and place to hang out In the lobby area. Staff not friendly and no cold drinking water refill stations anywhere so you are forced to buy water bottles at a ridiculous price! Location is quiet and has good bus connections along Miami Beach area…

It was definitely nice for a hostel, especially in the US. The rooms were quite large and had other furniture than the beds which is rare in an hostel environment. The pool area is cute, and it is a short walk to the beach! I did not use them but was offered beach towels and chairs which I appreciated. Other reviewers have mentioned this as well, the location is on a busy street so you do hear cars at night. It was perfect for me for one night, but I don’t know if I would have enjoyed an extended stay here.

Cesar and William at reception - they were super friendly and helpful!! You get real value for money here, it had everything I needed and a cheap little essentials shop for bits and bobs!!
I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again.

I enjoy this property because the service is excellent and there’s a pool and a club with a DJ on site. In spite of the club is still possible to get sleep during Black Out Hours and Quiet Hours. The property is clean bathrooms are clean. They have activities on site to participate in which is a way for you to meet other travelers from all over the world. They could wash those blue blankets more than they do and this stay the elevator was broken (wasn’t a problem for me but for someone with a lot of luggage this could be a problem). This is one of the best Hostels to stay in in the USA. This is definitely one of the cleanest ones in the USA with great service and consideration for their travelers.

It is really a nice place to stay in. The service is good and it is in the middle of south beach and is close to almost every nice places in south beach. I recommend this place to anyone wishing to visit Miami

Non transparent. Property not as described. This is not a hotel it’s a hostel. I could not get accommodation. They did not refund me for me to be accommodated I would have to pay extra 700$. When I could outstayed at 5 star hotel in south beach for half the price. So that’s what I did I had to purchase another room at Delano which I should of just done in the first place. I never ever in my existence go to this place nor recommend this property

Possible bed bugs?
I booked in for a few hours before my flight the next morning and woke up with 4 bites at the back of one of my ankles. I’ve had something similar happen in a hostel in Europe once (concentrated bites in one area) only to find out my bed had bed bugs which leads me to believe this was the case here. I didn’t check the bed for certainty as the girls in my room were sleeping and I arrived very late and had to leave quite early but I’d recommend the staff get up to room 222 specifically bed 4 to have a look. Our window was not open so I’m certain they weren’t mosquito bites.

The woman that checked me in assigned me to the wrong room. She came into the room while I was in the shower, twice. I went to the front desk and she told me that the room she assigned me was out of order and that I had to move. My bed light didn't work nor did the outlet to charge my phone. I slept fine. No frills place. Need to work on check in procedure.

The staff is wonderful, the hostel is beautiful, welcoming, calm, and full of interesting global travelers. Shared rooms are nice with privacy curtains. Guests gather around the nice pool to make connections. Kayak rentals near by. This is not one of the Miami Beach party hostels like in South Beach.

We have stayed at Freehands in NY and LA. We get the concept and vibe of this kind of kwirky hotel. Freehand Miami falls short with the cleanliness we are used to. The laminate floor is old fall, was oily and slippery with who knows what. The room smells stale and damp. On the plus side the bed sheets and towels excellent.

I've always been a big fan of Freehand, but this time was disappointing. The first room we were put in had a strong mildewy smell. We were allowed to move to another one, which was better, but felt the bedding still had that kind of damp smell.
Another disappointment was the lack of a water fountain or somewhere to refill bottles. This meant we had to buy water bottles, which uses plastic and the cost adds up too. Please add a water fountain!
Pool area and location are great. Still have a soft spot for the place, but felt like it went a bit downhill.

Our second stay at the Freehand was great. We wish we hadnt looked under the bed, though (very very dirty)
We put up a no-maid-needed sign, but found they entered our room anway, while we were gone. We DID NOT like that.
Will always stay here, despite above concerns and inebriated youngin's roami g halls til 4 a.m.

Zero WIFI in the room. Women's dorm, 4 bunks is in a closed room with card key lock. Felt safe. Remember to bring a padlock for the lockers - it will hold a carry on suitcase and small bag. My roomies just threw their big cases on the floor in disarray, but it was fine. Just a place to sleep. Close to the beach and a grocery store.
When I asked about the wifi they said they'd check into it, but I have a feeling it never works. You need to go out of the room, downstairs to the main lobby for reception.

Walkable to the beach. Helpful staff. Nice shared spaces inside and by the pool for work and socializing. Good combination of a hostel where people share rooms and get to know each other and a hotel so it’s not crazy rowdy.

This property needs a major upgrade. They had no hand towels to wash up with in the shower everything was dirty they had no ice no cups they had an old refrigerator that barely opened there was not a secure lock on the door the hallway was totally disgusting I would just encourage anybody who's looking for somewhere to stay do not stay here it's not worth it and it's overly priced. You can't even get water the staff was extremely rude in fact they charged us $2.25 per water bottle( ice mountain). IT WAS AWFUL 😞

Clean and Great Deal in Miami Beach
The room was for my cousin who was visiting. He said ( and sent me pix) of how clean and nice the room was. He was very happy. And he got a bottom bunk which he needed. When I booked it, I didn't realize you could choose by clicking on Special Request. The value was very good. The fees were what was posted on Hotels.com. No hidden ridiculous fees other places try to charge. ( I had seen another hotel try to charge a site fee that was more than the room.) The amenities were good. But Wifi was not. 1mg or not at all. They said they were having probs with the carrier. All in all, a great deal in Miami Beach

The ladies I stayed with were amazing. Everyone was respectful and friendly. The staff was sweet, and the service above and beyond. I’ll definitely stay here again. A refrigerator and kitchenette would be a nice addition. Wonderful vibe at the Shaker bar and restaurant.

Super cute, clean, and kind service. The room was priced right and the bathroom was newly remodeled and very clean.
The bar didn't open until after 5. The pool shuts down when the Broken Shaker opens, which is sad because the pool area is so cute, and would be great to come back to your room and chill at your hotel pool and bar if your not into the club scene.
We had a private room that we shared. Because of the open nature of the facility anyone can come in and out. We had a situation were a male cornered us in our hallway twice and persistent on trying to get our contact information. We always had to watch that he wasn't around when we neared our hotel room, even to the point of faking something was left at the broken shaker so he would leave our hallway because we were leaving. We walked to the bar and stood there until we no longer saw him waiting in the lobby which had complete line of site of our hallway.

I was there for a pre-birthday/vacay. The atmosphere there is certainly "free", very boho chic and after dusk it's the party or meet up spot. Very close to everything.

Do not stay here! It’s so gross, dirty and muggy. The staff are really rude and useless. There don’t answer questions or have any knowledge of anything. I told them the door wouldn’t lock and they just said it never happened before and left it. We stayed in an 8-room all female dorm and the door didn’t lock and they did nothing! Not acceptable.

Outdated and broken furniture, rooms smell like mold it smells like they don’t wash the filters in the tacky window unit air conditioner, I have pictures of cockroaches in the room, loud music until 4 am right outside the room, police in the property on more than one occasion, police in my room because a guest was robbed, then I was robbed. Hotel staff are not accommodating, did nothing to help with anything, the least they could have done was offer a drink. Management needs help.DO NOT STAY HERE

I got this room for my son & 82 year old mom who just needed to sleep for the night before going on a cruise. None of the pictures show that it is a bar, not a hotel, and the rooms are hookup worthy, but not for those not looking to party. The bathroom has a toilet in one corner, and shower head in the other, no show curtain, no tub, nothing like the pictures we viewed. How embarassing, it looks like I couldn't afford to put them in a real hotel, and they were up all night from the noisy people partying and the bar

My first time ever staying in a hostel so i was a little hesitant but, I must say it was a pleasant experience. The atmosphere was great and the experience had me meeting new people. I stayed in a 4 bed room and bunked with a guys from Poland, Turkey and the Ivory Coast. The room and bathroom were clean. Hostel was in walking distance of Ocean drive or you could easily walk across the street to bus stop and hop on a free trolley that will take you straight down Collins avenue. Awesome stay…would do it again.

Great location, 4 minutes from the beach and near all bus stops. Hotel has super cool, happy, lush inner yard with pool, bars and great restaurants. Clean and friendly. 24h reception. Good, relaxed vibes. Comfy bed. Loved the bathroom. Will come back! (Only slight minus was that wifi was a bit shaky inside the room, but then the room was also very quiet since it was in the back. Had it's own little front yard with tables and laid back chairs. So I would not have changed.)

This place is more like a hostel. I can’t believe what I paid to stay here. Plus I was charged a resort fee. For what? No amenities, didn’t have enough towels, people coming and going and lounging around in halls. False advertisement

The rooms were a decent size. Could have more place to hang your clothes. A kitchen with a fridge would be good. I I didn't realize there was a pool until i saw pictures online when i got back home.
