Walking distance to the Beach. Parking garage attached with property at additional parking fee along with Mandatory resort fee. Location is excellent. Customer service is great. 24 hour check in available. Organized kitchen with all necessary utensils. Coin Laundry located on each floor.

This is an older property, but it is very well kept and is great for families with lots of amenities. there is a small shop in the hotel, the pool is nice, and there is a large BBQ are with tables, grills, and all the necessary equipment. 2 blocks from Waikiki, very walkable.

Don't stay in this hotel!! The building is old and it smells bad. In our one week stay, they had to shut down water for one whole day, their pool was not working too.. i and my husband got stuck in elevator for more than 40 mins. DO NOT STAY HERE!

First the good: low cost, you can walk to the beach and restaurants, kitchen and coffee maker provided, the staff is nice. The bad: the hotel is run down and stained, people live in the hotel and they are always cooking so there is always a food smell in the halls. The elevators are constantly full, making you wait 10 to 20 mins. We were given a wheelchair accessible room next to the trash chute. I've seen on other websites that hotels give the undesirable rooms to Expedia members. The room was loud and smelly next to the trash. We also found a crackpipe in the cupboard so there's that. There are many nicer hotels nearby for the same price.

Elevators had constant issues & crowding, sometimes causing a 15 minute wait to get up/down. Housekeeping was only every 3 days but didn't even come that often. Parking attendants were rude and regularly tried to over-charge. Hotel charged us an additional $30 / day when we arrived despite having paid the advertised rate in advance.

Great trip
Great location with easy access to the highway for the airport.
Property is undergoing repairs and it was a bit noisy but I would recommend it.

This is our second stay at the sunset and we will definitely stay again. 4/5 stars overall only because our room had a loud buzzing noise constantly. The pool is only in the sun during the morning hours too. Daily room cleaning would be ideal. All-in-all we have enjoyed staying here both times and recommend the sunset.

Convenient Location
Hotel is in a good location just a few blocks from the beach. Room is good with a small kitchen.
Downside, one elevator working out of four. Took for ever!
Housekeeping is done on the third day, but our housekeeper was awesome!!! TV cable only worked for one day.
Parking is quite expensive and it was under construction. Parking sucks!

The only thing I disliked about the property and with all properties in Hawaii is the tesort fees. At $39. Extra a night you get nothing more then you used to get. It’s merely a money grab and I will likely not return to Hawai’i after going there since 1979..

Customer Service was excellent. They answers all my questions and helped us up until we check out. I even requested for one of our parties to check in early before we get there and they accommodated him which was really nice.
Location is about to two blocks to the beach and there are restaurants around the area.
Rooms are big enough for 4 people. We had a full kitchen and that's a big plus.
There's a laundry room at the end of the floor if you need to use it.
The only two complaints i have were the washroom and the pillows.
The washroom floor needs to be scrub properly since it was a handicap friendly so the floor is always wet after you take a shower. You have to wear a rubber sleepers when you need to use the washroom.
Pillows need to be changed it's thin. I have to ask for extras or you will be laying flat on the bed. Other than that we had an awesome time at the hotel and in Hawaii. For sure we will be back just not on the same room set up. Mahalo.

The location close to the beach was fantastic and the staff were very friendly.
I wish they had better kitchenware. For example a sheet pan that we could have used to cook biscuits and a second frying pan available to cook a meal would be good. Knives were very dull and it was hard to even cut fresh fruit. However overall it was a great place to stay. Movies for rent as part of the amenity fee was a good idea.The current construction around the park are made it noisy.

We enjoyed our stay. When we had any concerns they were dealt with quickly. The staff was helpful and pleasant. We enjoyed the BBQ area, the green space, the fitness area and the pool. Thank you for making our vacation one of many great memories.

I love this property it has everything you need and the staff are so so friendly and helpful. My family and I had a wonderful experience here at the Aspen Waikiki Sunset. Barbeques, swimming pool, lounges galore. Every little useful thing in the room...A kitchen with all the pots and pans, etc you ever need...A bathroom with wonderful hawain tropic lotion, shampoo and conditioner. You will smell great trust me. A large balcony, great tv stations and movies etc all included. Excellent place near everything highly recommended.

Upon arrival I first noticed how friendly the staff was. Although their was some construction going on it wasn't that bad. The place was a good place to stay lots of amenities to share, friendly staff and overall good visit. The pnly thing that we needed to get use to was not having housekeeping everyday.
The only thing I think they need to look at is their parking attendants. The didnt really have plan in place for guests coming and going. Every transaction was done on the exit side and if they were busy they would ask you to check back when we return. Also, not a very good way of keeping track if your days were paid for. Otherr than that it was a good stay. Thank you in advance.

Close to Waikiki beach and shopping. Quiet and clean. Due to construction, there was no power or water for two days during the week. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and lasted a good ten to fifteen minutes. No explanation given.

This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. We booked the hotel at the front end end of a cruise, celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. I booked an ocean view room with a king sized bed. When we arrived, the air conditioning was off, and the room was over 80 degrees. The bedroom had a full sized bed and a single bed, not great for a 35th wedding anniversary.
When I politely complained at the front desk, they indicated that they had a substitute room available, without the view, and that a king sized bed room with a view may be available the next day. No such luck and to stay where we were. The air conditioning stopped functioning into the evening. I complained at the front desk, and the front desk person laughed at me, indicating that it was a user error, and that the fan should be set to manual. I told him that wasn't the issue, as both the fan and the AC turned off. He suggested that I call back when maintenance arrived later in the morning. I told him that we had an early tour, and asked if he could please leave a message, and he said he couldn't.
When we returned from our tour, the AC was still off. We called maintenance, and the gentleman indicated that it was an issue with the sliding glass door sensor. He showed me how to flip the switch on the circuit breaker, and that restored the AC. He said it was likely that the AC would turn off again. I also asked if the other units had the same issue, he said yes and the AC turned off twice during the nite.

My family and I really liked our stay at the Aston Waikiki Sunset. It was very comfortable and we loved the beautiful scenery from our room. The only problem we had was, the first night the fire alarm went off twice and when we tried to contact the front desk there was no RESPONSE. We were on the 19th floor, so my daughter and her husband walked down 19 flights of stairs to try and find out what was happening. My daughter said, it was so scary and she felt so bad for all of the guest trying to get down to the lobby, especially the elderly couples. My son-in law said, my daughter was getting a panic attack in the stairway and he was getting worried. When they got down to the lobby, there were a lot of the guests standing around, not really knowing what was going on. I just stayed in our room with my 2 grandchildren and prayed that we would to okay. My daughter folks couldn’t call us while they were in the stairwell because the call couldn’t get through. They were really worried about their 2 children and me. The alarm went off again on the last night we were there. I guess for me, it was just the not knowing. No one ever called the whole time we were there to let us know what really happened. The workers were really accommodating. We really liked our stay there but, am not sure we would stay there again because of what happened.

There was an extremely rude parking attendant that mainly worked the morning/afternoon. She was argumentative every single time we left the garage. Honesty I believe that she scammed us out of more parking fees then what was owed. I would not suggest this hotel to friends or family because of the stress this lady put us through. Not something anyone wants on their dream vacation.

There were a list of things wrong with our stay and it's only been 3 days. As soon as we checked in, the sheets on the queen bed smelled vinegary/mildewy, the shower had an empty shower gel bottle, we asked for a replacement and it did not come until we had to ask multiple times. The shower drain was clogged with hair as well. We asked politely (multiple times once again) for extra towels and it took them 4 hrs to deliver it. We had to ask a staff member for the direct source of where to get the towels ourselves since no one wanted to bring us any, only then did they finally decide to bring them to our room. There was a lot of handprints on the wall art as well, probably missed by cleaners.
Front desk charged me $2,000 on my card when it was already paid full on Expedia, I had to call Expedia on my first day of vacation to refund the overcharge that the hotel did.
We went to a nearby hotel to help us get a rental for a wheelchair for one of our guests, the front desk in the morning did not offer to help call and provided an out-of-date/incorrectly informed flyer for the wheelchair company that they recommended. The Hyatt hotel next door offered help quickly when checking the up to date wheelchair companies.
The only positive I can possibly think to mention is the night shift Front desk clerk, Derek, was helpful and kind.

Our view from the room of the ocean was spectacular! The room was very clean and up to date with a full kitchen (microwave, full stove/oven, sink, full sized refrigerator, and utinsels). No dishwasher (except for your own 2 hands). The bathroom was well equipped with several towels and a full bathtub/shower. The parking... it's VERY tight putting a car into the stalls. Paying for parking is the only complaint I'd have. It's not clear at all how that's accomplished.

A little dated but otherwise everything was fine. Staff are very friendly and attentive. On site security are comforting although a little over zealous regarding gym usage. Both gym and pool were excellent facilities albeit a bit small. Parking next door is very handy if you have/hire a car although it is pricey - but then so is Hawaii.

I have stayed here several times and will stay again. It’s a short drive to UH Manoa. There is always a good view. Beds are comfortable. I like the bedroom with a door as well as a pull out sofa. All things you need in the kitchen. About a block from the beach. On the end of Waikiki strip so it’s fairly quiet for the city. Easy to walk to all the action/restaurants in Waikiki. Parking on site, but pricey. Large pool and bbq outdoor space.

We chose this hotel due to the kitchen facilities and proximity to Waikiki beach/bus line. You can get to Costco, Pearl Harbour, Bishop Museum, Diamond Head using the Oahu bus system without a transfer. As a hotel guest you get free admission to Bishop Museum and Honolulu Museum of Art.

I like that you were able cook. What I didn’t like was that they don’t keep up with maintenance on some of the items they provide like the coffee pot and the iron. Both items weren’t working which was disappointing. Besides that everything else was great.

We didn't stay very long since it was place holder before our condo was free, but the stay was great! It had everything we needed and an awesome location! My only complaint would be that we never got to use the patio/pool area as it was only open at times when we were out sightseeing.

The hotel location is great!! Walking distance to the beach, stores and public transportation are a must for my travel and this hotel is spot on. The big plus for me is the kitchen. You save money from too much eating out by fixing your own food before your activities start!

Check in was fast and easy, all the staff were helpful and friendly. The room had a full-size refrigerator and store for the times that we felt like cooking ourselves. The property was a short walk to the beach and other attractions. Many restaurants were nearby and also in walking distance.

Enjoyed our stay - easy to find, convenient location to shopping/transportation, good parking. Didn't interact a lot with the staff but all interactions were positive and they were friendly and helpful - desk, parking attendant, maintenance - all nice. The property is old and well worn but in working condition. Our room was clean - only downside was the roach in our kitchen, but hey - it is Hawaii and it didn't shock or scare me - we made sure all food stuff was in containers or the fridge and checked our belongings carefully as not to bring home any unwelcome travelers. :)

This is an older high rise that is in need of serious modernization and a deep-clean. It’s like staying in a 1980’s time-bubble. They charge a resort fee and with that they provide a daily newspaper and a DVD movie rental program, which is sort of funny. The building itself is dark and uninviting. The pool is small and the overall outdoor space is lacking interest. The gym does not open until 7am and you must bring your own towel. The gym is a windowless room with a few machines in it. This all could’ve been overlooked had the unit not been so unappealing.
The specific unit we stayed in was a 2 bedroom/1 bath, the rooms were tiny. We stayed 1 night and left. All the furniture was mis-matched and old. The coffee maker heating element was crusty and gross. The door to the refrigerator would not close properly. There was dust and mold all around the window behind the curtain. The bathroom was in working condition, but just old and nasty vinyl.
On a positive note, the location is ok. It is on the opposite and quieter-end of all the action in the hub of Waikiki, which is great if that’s what is preferred. The other end of town is where all all life is- the restaurants and stores are located on the opposite end. The views were ok from the windows. The bedding was clean. The best part was that the property management agreed to charge us the 1 night and refund the nights not used. I contacted Expedia and they made it happen.

Everything was great, except the fact that aside of booking price we were charged upon arrival 30 USD per night extra for amenities, which are: safe box in the room, DVD player and access to DVD disks rent, daily newspaper. This is ridiculous and extremely annoying. This stuff either not needed and it was always included into booking price. Traveling industry is broken after COVID, everybody is trying to suck as much money from you as they can, sometimes for nothing.

They abuse the guests with a $30.00 MANDATORY FEE per night for services other hotels give for free such as wifi, coffe, tea, etc.

This place is not bad for a family on a budget, it just needs fixing for example the floors in the kitchen the pool area needs some patching up on the floor. The cleaning could be more detail we had dirty floors and indoor door handles and some walls dirty. And if you get an oversized vehicle like an Tahoe or expedition it only fits in the first and second floor and usually all the parking spots are taken, then you would need to find parking outside or find another parking structure from another hotel to park the car.

We loved that our room had a full kitchen. We went to the grocery store and cooked all of our meals and saved so much money that way. The location is perfect, we were able to walk to the beach, stores, and the Honolulu zoo. Staff was friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

Great for the long stay
Great amenities in the hotel room. Sofa bed can be uncomfortable but the sheets were clean. Parking is $25+tax per day or you can try your luck with metered parking along Ala Wai Blvd.
Kitchen has basic cutlery and dinnerware and the grills by the pool are always ready. Perfect when you're missing a home cooked meal or just too tired to wait and spend the extra money to dine in. Do yourself and future guests a favor and open the door to the lanai while you cook or at least buy a can of febreeze.
Walking distance to Kuhio Beach, the zoo, and at least 2 ABC stores for your needs.
