The lobby and hotel are so fun! The lobby has a ton of seating and a fire place! Expedia kind of messed up our reservation, but the front desk clerk was so nice an upgraded us for our trouble. Rooms were large and cute, I could see the Space Needle from mine! Beds are super comfy. They offer to bring a microwave or mini fridge if you need, which is nice! The area is mostly take away or quick serve restaurants, we did a quick Uber to Mamma Melina an Italian restaurant which was nice.

Not worth the money. Very old and small. The bathroom was about as big as a closet and the “upgraded” room charge was a waste of money. Nice lobby and staff was pleasant but for the money not with it at all. The upstairs mountaineer club we went for a drink and it was loud as can be. Not a place to go if you want an affordable cocktail. The staff upstairs thought it was the playboy mansion and they seem stuck up
Very nice coffee shop downstairs and the coffees and breakfast sandwiches were very good.

I was just thinking how much I liked the property for the cost. Funky but clean hotel. Then I went to get my car from valet. When I checked in I asked how much to valet and they said $42. Seemed reasonable enough at the later hour. When I checked my charge this morning, the cost was actually $54 plus a bunch of other charges, which amounted to $72. Totally misleading promoted room price. Don't fall for it.

Parking was full, we had to come back to be able to park. We were able to store our bags before check in.
They gave us wine with the rooms, but took an hour to get any wine glasses or even paper cups to drink from.
Restaurant was full, no seating at bar. No real dining options. That should have been clearer upon reservation.
Rooms were fine.

The Lobby area is really great, with beautiful fireplace and lots of tables, chairs, and couches to sit on. Uniquely furnished. But the room itself was disappointing and overpriced for the furnishings. There was only a desk and a really uncomfortable desk chair. No other place to sit in the room other than the bed. Room small. No view of UW skyline, etc., but a good view of the Marriott Lobby one block away which reminded me how better furnished those rooms are. No microwave in room. Overall, I was excited to stay there and disappointed by the experience.

Unfortunate Stay this Time Around
My stay at The Graduate was unlike my first one, in which I had an incredible experience. Unfortunately, this trip was marred by a few unforeseen incidents. The first one was that we were reserved a King Deluxe bed room. The bed in the room was queen sized, so we were given the wrong room or the room was oversold with having a bigger bed than in actuality. There was a clogged drain in the bathroom tub that caused sitting water to fill the tub during showers. There was also a 2 hour period where the elevator, to our room, was broken and we were forced to use the stairs.
Lastly, we were told that due to the inconveniences we would have the amenities fees for each night credited back and we’d have a day of free valet parking in the garage. We were charged for both and I haven’t seen a credit back.

Nice enough place to stay, rooftop is great. Staff was great, especially the front desk this AM.

The whole aesthetic, the public areas, and the cafe are all great.
However, Room 709 was incredibly small. As in, you couldn't open the door to get out of the bathroom without either stepping into the bathtub, standing on the toilet, or squeezing into the space between the tub and the toilet. There are no drawers in the entire room. Anything that looks like a drawer is fake. You can also hear through the walls of the hotel — your neighbors talking, getting in past midnight, or singing in their showers at 5am. I also had an issue getting toiletries. I went to the front desk for moisturizer, and they said they would send someone up. 1.5 hours later I called down to the desk, and they told me to come back down and get them. When I came down they were in the process of asking an elderly woman why she or her husband couldn't bring her own bags down from her room to check out! I was totally shocked. And, of course, after I picked up the moisturizer on my own, someone came to my room about 40 minutes later with more. Finally, my key also worked only sporadically. I had to get it replaced, eventually, after which it didn't work at all! Someone from the front desk actually had to come up with me to let me in with the master key fob.
All in all, the hotel does not live up to its 4-stars, and the staff is extremely young and not trained in hospitality. They didn't know how to solve problems (really? You don't understand why an elderly lady needs help with her bags???).

Love the hotel but not the overrated rooftop bar
Vanessa at the front desk was excellent. Very friendly and helped us out immensely. Loved our room and the location of the hotel. Typical of city properties, the amenities are sparse (not many hotels these days don’t offer at least a tiny fridge in the room) but adequate. Tried to have a drink up at the Mountaineering Club, but the staff were extremely rude and the atmosphere very pretentious. We didn’t even sit down before we turned around and left.

Hotel built around a rooftop bar/restaurant. Even guests have to make reservations. The big thing here are the views, that's the draw. Old building, old feel. Probably not return. Good: close to UW and ave., across from light rail, busses, comfy king bed, clean, good water pressure. Bad: pricey, valet parking only, tiny rooms/ bath, always wait for desk clerk to show up, put some mirrors in the room for crying out loud.

I arrived very earlier before Check-In and so while my room wasn’t ready (which I didn’t expect it to be) with the location so close to small shops, restaurants and dining options there was plenty to do and they held my bags for me. I was able to get coffee and food from the shop attached to the hotel and wait in the lobby as well. Room was really cool and quaint for just myself.

Our room wasn’t ready until 6:00 PM. Turns out, it still wasn’t ready as we booked a “Deluxe Sky Level premium” room and ended up getting the only
Room available that was a second floor room right across from the elevator.
Only reason we upgraded to sky level was for the view and lack of street noise and other guest noise. So it was pretty lame to get a second floor room across from the elevator!
Everyone working here was nice but that was a huge disappointment walking into a room that literally has ear plugs on the night stand.

This place was neat for its funky and fun decor.. the rooftop bar is also awesome with a great view! However the place is also super dated… everything is old.. the rooftop bar is ridiculously expensive and the service was not great. The gym is also incredibly tiny.. room for 2 people in there max and even that feels crowded.
Another not so great part was they were doing construction all around the hotel so there was only valet.. zero parking anywhere else near by..which was $42/night and they drove your car several blocks away from the hotel to park it.. no clue where they took it but it took 15/20minutes for them to walk there and retrieve it.. and then of course they state it is not their responsibility if anything happens to it.
So, don’t think I’d choose this place again or recommend staying there. There are better hotels around.

Our stay at Graduate was ok! We liked the friendliness of the staff and their service, the room itself was clean and cozy. A few notes here;
1- there was no mini fridge in the room which is a main need I believe!
2- We did not get a good night sleep for the terrible noises and shouting of the other guests from the hallway till around 5am!
3- The room’s view was suppose to be Lake Washington but we had the view in below photo!

I don't fault the hotel for the condition of the neighborhood, which is both noisy and difficult to navigate (due to TONS of construction), and dirty and difficult to navigate (due to a significant unhoused population and all that comes with it in your typical urban environment).
My rating of "average" is not for these reasons. I was let down by the marketing. Expedia told me that it was a "VIP Access" hotel, and the hotel marketed the room as a "Deluxe King". As such, I was expecting something more than a second floor room overlooking the gravel rooftop and a view of the construction site next door, adjacent to the very bleachy-smelling housekeeping facility with piles of bedding in the hallway outside my door. So, yeah.
Maybe my fault for not coming back to the desk and asking if they had something better, but I try not to be that guy.
Anyway, it's a nice historic property (but being historic, lacks a lot of "modern" amenities), located in a great spot for access to UW and the light rail (note noise and cleanliness comments), and the staff was lovely. It just didn't quite meet my expectations, and hence the "average" rating. I'd probably stay again with some sort of guarantee that I would have a room on a higher floor, and I'm bummed that I didn't have time to check out the rooftop bar, which looks super cool.
