Location is great. Everything is within walking distance. However the property is way overdue for renovation and under maintained. It takes more than 30 minutes just to get out of hotel during the busy hours (because not enough elevators). Be ready to live with millions of cockroaches (kitchen is dirty. Bathroom is clogged.)

The staff were excellent. The first room we had was very dated and uncomfortable but when we requested a switch it was no problem at all. The second room was better. It was great to have a kitchen and it’s a 3 minute walk to the beach. The pool and hot tub were a hit with the kids. I would stay again, but I would do some research on the rooms.

We like the location, the pool and hot tubs, the playground, but missed the tennis courts. The view from our room and lanai was lovely. The unit definitely needs an upgrade of furnishings and drapes. The furniture is very dated and the carpet worn and in need of cleaning. The drapes has numerous spots of sun damage. I don’t think the hall was vacuumed more than once during our ten day stay. The staff I had contact with were friendly and helpful.we do recognize that if the updates were completed the unit would not likely be affordable to retired teachers, so we are grateful that we were able to enjoy it as is.

The property was more affordable than others. It was an older facility but was clean. I would say they could do more maintenance such as the shower head was wonky and the door to the patio was hard to open. But they were very accommodating and we enjoyed our stay.

I like staying in this property, the unit is spacious and can accommodate even 5 guests. My only complaint is that this unit has no full-length mirror and drinking water dispenser.

The room didn’t look anything like the photos, carpet was cheap and old, dirt stains on walls and countertops, the towel rack in our bathroom even fell off the wall after room service came in. Furniture was poor quality and falling apart and the bed was springy and uncomfortable. The photos make the place look much nicer than it was

Three-star is about right. It is a condo-turned-hotel; guests can cook. The hotel provides cooking utensils, bowls, cups, microwaves, full-size fridge, stoves etc. My room is furnished with nice furniture, but I did spot a small cockroach during my 7-night stay.

I enjoyed my stay here and was an amazing place to go after a long day of exploring all around us. The service could most definitely be better as we requested several things that took multiple requests for it to be complied. They also moved our clothes from the wash because they were going to close it, but there was no motive except that the clean clothes was moved to the ground.. Besides this everything else was a good experience and can see myself booking here again.

I always stay here at the Banyan, but this time I was disappointed. The room we stayed in was ok, I can smell the carpet, that’s why my allergies was non stop. Our bed was not comfortable, I wake up with a backache. The towels didn’t smell fresh, the bathroom shower smelled funky. Then late at night the people upstairs was moving stuff around so my husband and did not sleep well. I think this place needs an upgrade. Unfortunately I will not be coming back to stay here.

Convenient to all the areas we wanted to visit and having a condo was a better option than a hotel with just a room.
Facilities are a little tired and not spotless in cupboards and under furniture. Carpet was damaged.

Rooms were dirty. Were musty. We asked for new room. Said manager would call never did. Day two of 5 day stay water stoped working. Had an entire tower having to share two bathrooms and having to shower in pool area. Air in room felt like an old water cooler. DON’T STAY HERE.

Our initial room was outdated and had roaches. By day two they were very noticeable. Thankfully we were moved to another room that same night. The second room was a little more modern but we were downgraded to queen bed when we booked for a queen. Additionally we had our front door and lever to turn shower to bath break.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The cafe downstairs was great! Very good coffee and food available. The walk to be beach was quick and probably the best part of our hotel location.
Elevators sucked, sometimes you had to wait a while to either get one to you or fit in one since they’d be full.

Disappointing accommodation and personnel.
Room was dirty and bathroom door wasn’t closing . Phone wasn’t working, couldn’t call the front desk. TV wasn’t working had to be 2x. One if the key cards wasn’t working -wasn’t replaced even if requested. One of the front desk personnel was rude during fillip of reservation a week before arrival.

Carpets were dirty, Tv was .. 25.. inches in living room, .. one air conditioner.. No ceiling fan in bedroom to stay cool,
My Package .. was for a one bedroom .. with sofa bed .. .. my unit .. did not have a Sofa bed .. Win the room where the air conditioner was in.
Contacted Expededia for Assistance .. the Customer Service Representative Was not Helpful.. I found .. Another Resort .. because We decided to Extend Our Stay .. Expedia .. Assisted. With Flight Change .. but told Us We could not Fly out on 7/12023 .. So we stayed .. An additional day on Us

Upon checking in we were told housekeeping comes every 3 days. We stayed for two weeks and had housekeeping two times total. At about day 8 we asked and were given a rude answer by the front desk. Then we were given clean sheets to make our own bed, given towels while no one came to get the old towels. Literlly had to call or visit the front desk for more toilet paper. On multiple occasions (since there was no regular housekeeping) we had to set our trash in the hallway so it could get picked up(hours later).The parking garage is a nightmare of a hassle. On two separate occasions it took us over 15 mins just to enter the garage and about 5-6 more mins to find a spot. The garage is also extremely narrow and fighting the general public for spots. Overall the staff had a real "dont care attitude".
The coffee and breakfast sandwiches were above average so that was nice.
I would most likely choose to stay elsewhere when when returning to Oahu.

Excellent value for money. Not the Moana Surfrider but you’re not paying those ridiculous prices either. Helpful staff super spacious rooms. My second time there but I must admit the rooms are a little tired.

Nice location. Property is little old inside the room, otherwise it’s great for the money. Amenities are good. Walkable to beach. Many options for food close by. Nice for a family with kids as well. Don’t forget to get the key for the parking door as well else you will have to walk down all the way down using fire exit as it will be locked after 10.pm

We loved our stay here at the banyan. The ocean view was incredible. The room was perfect with a spacious kitchen that we could do all of our cooking. The convenience of everything around you all in a walking distance. We’ll definitely stay here again.

The hotel is old and needs a renovation. The beds were not comfortable and the bathroom is small. It is in a good location in Waikiki area. The beach is a couple of blocks away.

We had a great stay, the staff were nice and helpful. The room was clean and a good size. The only issue was that the pool was being serviced the entire 10 days we were there. It Would have been nice to know before booking, because we always book a place with a pool, to wind down at after the beach. So that was super disappointing.

This was a very nice affordable hotel for a little stay-cation . What couldve been better was that, some of the things needed a paint job. BedRoom door had some weird stains on it . Overall everything was great ! From desk clerks were very nice and funny. They Made it a very good stay .

The amenities were great. Nice big warm pool with 2 hot tubs, one warm the other hot. The rooms are roomy. The kitchen needs better frying pans, we had 2 different units during our stay and both pans the food stuck to. Also, 2nd room had cockroaches, somewhat to be expected because of the climate, but we killed 8 of them for the hotel.

This property is an older hitel but has many good features. The rooms are generous in size. The balcony is great for morning and evening sitting. A nice sized full kitchen. It was very clean and the location to Waikiki is fantastic (1 block from the beach). The bed is the only downside. It’s decently comfortable but so close to the floors

This was hands down the most RUN DOWN hotel we have ever stayed at. The pictures online are deceiving and false advertising. The beds are horrible! Found roaches and the room was extremely dirty at check in.

I liked the view and being up nice and high on the 33rd floor. It was spacious enough although the pool was rather small and the second hot tub was out of order the whole week we were there so it got kind of crowded. They say it is not pet friendly but I saw a couple people there bring their small dogs on the elevator.

I enjoyed the 6th floor with my grandchildren. I love that you can play, swim and bbq all in one location. The kitchen was great and much more room than ordinary hotel rooms.

Liked: location, front desk staff(mostly), view from room, pool and hot tubs OK for 3 star.
Disliked: room was terrible. Carpet was disgusting, hasn't been painted in 30 years, kitchen/bathroom cabinets literally falling apart, shower curtain ripped, didn't clean floors or change sheets until we complained, dresser missing pull knobs, bedding likely 20 years old, beds very very hard, "full kitchen" yet not a simple frying pan, fridge had to be replaced as it was so loud you couldn't sleep, sliding bedroom doors broken(they were fixed after complaining), etc., etc. etc. Which makes it even worse is that after 24 hours the hotel sent a text asking how our stay was going and we said the room was dirty and very outdated. No response back. After 4 days hotel asked to rate our stay 1-5. We gave them a 1 and no response. What is the point of asking people their opinion if you are just going to ignore them?
In summary, hotel perhaps is a 3 star, but room is a 0 star. BE AWARE. There are a lot of rooms available in this area, so we wouldn't be going back to this place.

The property is located with in 5 minutes walk to the beach restaurants and pick up location for any traveling touring.
Friendly staff the pool was super clean and the grills and picnic area is a plus to bbq after a long day swimming our room had a kitchen perfect for families who are looking to save from dining out.

We had a great view and the room was spacious. Clean for as old as it was.
But UPDATES are needed. The curtains were torn and stained, carpet is extremely old and worn- the shower drain backed up so you were standing in at least 4 inches of water. The soap, shampoo and conditioner were all out. Pillows on the beds were flat. Lots of extra fees when you get there. Resort fees and nightly parking were not included in the price and we paid when we got there. My family is glad it was only a one night stay. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere nice! This was not it.

Property conditions need to be updated. The cleaning staff can only do so much... wood rot in the lobby by the water feature, sticky dirty carpeting, old furniture that is faded. Update the property.

The property was good even though kinda dated and great to have a full kitchen. In comparison to others hotels a good value. the coffee shop and mini mart were good to have.
The first room they gave us was so old it looked like it was never updated. the carpet was old dirty and smelled. No amount of cleaning would make it acceptable. when we went to the front desk to let them know, they were very helpful at finding us a room that was a similar layout but updated and clean. no concierge in this hotel. not a big deal for us. overall we enjoyed our stayed once we were settled in.

The first unit we were given was absolutely disgusting. Filthy doesn’t even begin to describe its condition. The staff Cliff and Dave were kind after I showed them the pictures. They gave me 2 other options that were still disappointing in their condition but not filthy. The 3 units I saw all need major work. I have pictures of the tan carpet with black spots & torn furniture. Unit XXX is a 0/5. The hotel is in all 1/5 only because of the nice staff and beach towels.

It took us looking at 5 rooms before we found one that had clean furniture and rugs. Once we got a clean updated room it was good. Apparently all units are individually owned and some owners could care less. It’s a good location and a decent pool. Luckily for us the front desk workers were very very helpful.

Check in a pain!
Check in took forever. Booked the rooms over 10 months ago, one would think rooms would have been reserved. Cliff finally got them straightened out, but it took almost an hour.

Other reviews said this place needed updates but we figured it was in reference to decor. Our room smelled musty each time we walked into it. The mattresses were from the Flintstone era. Location was great, lobby was beautiful, staff was kind and courteous. We would consider staying again if we had mattress toppers and got a room without carpet (the likely source of the musty smell).

The best part of this property were Kelley and Jonathan Who went above and beyond to give us a room that was suitable and more updated. Don’t let the photos fool you. We are not picky people but this hotel is old and in desperate need of major updating.

The property is very dated. The unit was clean but there were stains, damage to the furniture and the beds were literally just box springs. This is very much a "you get what you pay for" place, and in this case the cost of the room buys you the location of the hotel, which is very good.

Aston at the Waikiki Banyon is a private condo owned pooled hotel. Unless you see pictures of the room you are renting, do not stay here. Some rooms haven’t been updated since the 70’s. Best to use other other vacation rental companies at the Waikiki Banyon where you can see pictures and choose your room as there are well maintained rooms. Wish I knew this as the location is great.

Very disgusting rooms
The staff was friendly and that is about the only good thing about this place. The bathroom in particular was a major issue for me. The tiles in the tub are rotting, the bathtub floor was stained as were the shower curtains. The carpets were also stained. The room had a very musty smell. I felt like i was staying in a low budget motel.

It was a wonderful stay. Everything is close by, room was great. Staff was friendly and polite. Only problem was the bath tub stopper didn’t work, they didn’t fix while my stay.and sofa bed was uncomfortable.

Needs updating
Our room was run down. Definitely needs an update. Beds looked soo old and hard. Bedding was so dated and dingy looking. Kitchen area was nice an clean. Was told about no large in the parking area the morning of. So we had to circle the area every evening to find parking. Parking was probably still paid in my bill.

Certain properties were going through renovation so it was noisy everyday.Top of this only every 3 days for maid service. Therefore at least maid should be more attentive about what is low or none in the bathroom section. Another thing was the bathtub was plugged but this incident was resolved right away.I doubt I will be returning here anymore.
