The noise. So much noise. Noise from the pools, the DJ, the restaurant across the water and the slamming doors in the hallways. My wife and I were trying to have a nice quiet night away and instead got the opposite. The room was clean enough, some floorboards were coming up though. Overall not the experience we were hoping for.

Fridge didn’t work in room, dirty towels, door was crooked and had to be shoved shut, paint chipping in bathtub, toiletries not provided. Dirty curtains( looked like a bloody handprint). Location great, lobby great, service good. Rooms need work!! A lot!!

The hotel location is great, but the hotel its self is horrible the rooms need major updating and the hallways smelled like throw up, the room walls were dirty and the restroom the walls had water damage the bathtub was damaged it was horrible.

Second time here. Had I read the newest reviews there’s no way I’d ever stay in this hotel. Great view but it’s not worth the money. This is a motel 6 and that’s being generous.

Would recommend nice hotel and on the water.
Nice location away from the city, nice pool bar with cabana's and good food your average type of American food. Older hotel which I like when their well kept up as this one is. Whiskey Joes across the water within walking distance if that interests you. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay here again. I would also highly recommend Blue one transportation if your flying and or going on a cruise. Big thumbs up to those folks, excellent service.

good 2 day escape near downtown Tampa
Nice friendly staff. Quick to respond to card not working to unlock room battery needed to be changed. Bartender helpful with good beaches and restaurants to go to.

The property was a great location. The front desk staff were great. There were no umbrellas around hotel pool and it was in the sun all afternoon. We approached the WTR staff to request one and they were a little aggressive in denying us. After a second visit to the front desk one umbrella was brought to the pool.

Our room at the Godfrey was very nice and had been recently renovated. Our balcony overlooked the water and it was a nice perk to sit here and enjoy a coffee. Nice pool area as well. Would go back

Filthy room. Dry vomit on the bathroom wall and light switch. No vent fan in the bathroom. Dirty walls throughout the room. One dimly lit mirror. No other mirrors in the room. Hole in the ceiling. Sink drain broken. Would not drain. Stopper stuck closed. Tub faucet dripped constantly. Room phone did not work. Attached restaurant sneaks in gratuity then hands you the device on the page asking for tip. Paid $45 for a beer and chicken strips. No housekeeping unless requested. 65$ resort fee on top of room rate. Not sure for what. No free access to hotel pool during the week. Over priced drinks. Angel soft TP. And lastly. A random $15 dollar charge to my card during my stay. I’ll be watching it for fraudulent activity now. Do not stay here.

There is a "daytime swim/dance party" at an adjacent building on the weekends. Hotel said they started up in March for spring break and go all summer. DJ plays hip hop dance/techno music at unbearable volume from noon until 8-10pm. Unless you enjoy listening to for at least 8 hours straight, we would not recommend staying during summer hours.
Lobby and common areas are pleasant and updated.
View of the bay from balcony was the best part. Room was very dated and in poor repair. Grab bar in shower was so loose we were afraid to use for support. Toilet slow to flush and loose on floor.
Had we not already paid in advance, we would have left before we unloaded our bags. Overall, "NO" we would not stay here again.

This property is very outdated. Furniture in poor condition (dressers and nightstands). Bathrooms are very dingy, grout nasty, bathtub is old with no stopper and would back up with water each time you shower.

Our first room was not clean at all. The walls were dirty, the floor was dirty and was not sweep at all. Our bathroom was dirty and did not look like it was cleaned. Our toilet did not flush properly. So we called maintenance to come fix it but they could not fix it so we had to get a new room. In our new room our bathroom tub/shower had mold in the shower area. The toilet did not work properly in this room either. Our second room telephone did not work to call the front desk, so we had to walk downstairs to speak with staff about it. There were other guest staying across the hall who had kids and they were screaming at 6am all the way until check out time at 11am. We only stayed here for two days and we had a terrible experience. The one great thing about the stay was the view of the water, which was my sole reason for booking this location.

the phone in the room didn't work, and a couple drawers on the dresser was stuck closed. The property's a little run down. I didn't know about the $23 a day parking or hotel fee. I was disappointed about this. I also looked up breakfast but they had a pay for breakfast but no free stuff.

I had to move from one room on the 4th floor due to the smell of mold and the plastic tiles on the floor was coming off the ground. This hotel has to be shut down. The bed in the second room made me itch like something was biting me. The shower was peeling it had conditioner but no shampoo. Dust all over. The second room also had the fake tile peeling but not as bad as the first floor. Also the carpets in the main entrance and hallway were all spotted and dirty so were the sofas all stained. Parking is not secure anyone can come in. The hotel reeked of marijuana. Stay at the Hyatt or Westin. The air conditioning is attached to the window the filters and the unit has not been cleaned so much dust and mold you’re breathing that all in. For this price nightly it was not worth the agony and deception through the pictures. This place is like a motel. Not a hotel and I was embarrassed to stay here. I’m curious how Cedric Gervais ever agreed to dj at an upcoming show in this s*ithole. I doubt he would ever stay in a room even for a minute here. lol money must be running out lol

The view of the Ocean from the balcony was nice, and the location is great. However, the first room we checked into still had trash all over, and one of the beds was not made. The room they switched us too was mediocre. The floors were VERY dirty, and there were bugs in the sink. The railing on our balcony was broken so it was kind of an eye sore while trying to enjoy the view. I guess for a cheaper hotel- it could have been worse. I just wish it was cleaner.

My room had roaches and a terrible smell. It is in need of a serious revamping. It send to be misplaced for its location. I’ve stayed at the Grand Hyatt not too far away and it was wonderful. I didn’t imagine the Godfrey would be this disgusting

You get what you pay for! Words of advice....if they are hosting a party at the adult pool/bar area....don't stay at the property! We were completely unable to sleep our first night (of 2) due to the after-party that continued until sunrise. I think we may have even caught a contact high for the immense pot smoking the entire evening. One person was even run over in the parking lot from a drunk driver. The road noise is horrible too with constant car/motorcycle racing. The property itself wasn't the worse I've stayed in, but I will never make plans to return to this property.

The staff was very nice but the proud of my head was when I got there they gave me the wrong one. They quickly corrected it they put me in another room. But in this room, the telephone didn’t work when they were informed about the phone stated they were going to have it fixed soon as possible it never got fixed Bathroom was horrible. The tub was so nasty. I refuse to take a shower and they had roaches. And their brochure or my online advertisement stated that they had a casino. They didn’t stated that they had service they didn’t. They had people running up and down the hallways at 12am to 1 o’clock in the morning

The property was in good location, however was surprised in 2024 that in our oceanfront king room there was no usb ports to plug in phones or electronic devices. Rooms could use some upgrades. Patio doors were alittle subpar and bathroom sink seemed to not have sufficient pressure. Overall experience was average. Not sure if we would stay again.

The hotel was in terrible shape. The restroom was disgusting, amenities were missing. They removed the lights and put one small light for the whole room. There were no closet door or mirror other then bathroom meal. Nothing like the pictures. The balcony waterfront view was gorgeous but that is all.

We really enjoyed our stay the night before our flight out of Tampa - it was easy to find, park and walk to the restaurant or the beach area next door. The pool area was perfect for sunset views and allowed for some sun the next day, too. Every room has a balcony or porch for sitting outside. The area was safe and even though it was a busy road, we still could use the walkway to get anywhere. I highly recommend this facility

Check in was quick and easy. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel was convenient to the airport. Unfortunately, there was no shampoo in our room and the soap dish in the shower was caked in soap scum. Generally the cleanliness of the bathroom was just adequate.

The location and rooms with water views as well as balconies great. Attractive property but for the $ charged they should do better and it's obvious that hotel management is cutting corners. Stayed for three nights and my room was not serviced once. Bed not made, coffee service and water not replenished, bathroom not cleaned. This despite a resort fee of $23 per day on top of room rate. Pool nice. Breakfast option consists of a coffee bar with decent but limited food options in the lobby with one hard working person working--that person at times overwhelmed--not his/her fault--again cutting corners. Bar restaurant with very limited hours. All in all great location, property and views but could be so much better.

Location is the only positive!
Walk in looks great! Get to our room 426 a stink in the hall, get into the room. Carpet is soiled, planks are lifted and trip hazard. Look in the bed, no bugs nor hair! Yea. Go to the bathroom yuck!! Only shampoo. Sink doesn’t drain. The drain in the shower eats everything! The security lock on our patio was bent so it was very hard to lock. And when we went outside someone had to ruin it by smoking marijuana near by. Laying in bed I thought we had a bug above our faces. No just something that wouldn’t come off of the paint. Walls, shower, baseboards were dirty, tile was crooked. The only thing going for this place is WTR is next door, whiskey Joe’s and a beach within walking distance.

The bath tub was in pretty bad shape. Very noisy. We had a room with water and pool view. I think the staff was partying at 1:30 am due to the music and noise that woke me. Great location close to the airport. If we choose to stay here again, I will request a room opposite the pool area.

First when using Expedia I had put in dates but when I went to book the calendar was in April in Lieu of March. No phone number to reach Expedia easily. I had to pay double since I did not look at the month again even though I never chose April.
As for the property the staff is nice not the type of staff that goes out of the way to make you feel welcome but nice.
The photos are great but the best part of the hotel is the bar. The drinks are expensive. The cost is 5 star but the property is not.
When I arrived a dirty hand towel was stuck to the night stand so this in turn means no one had been in the room for a minute. The place was first in and out of the roof. Halls did not see a mop or vacuum in a minute and OMG the smell of marijuana was over whelming. I had to put a towel at my door to try to keep it out of my room. I do not care what people do but it does not mean I want to share.
I chose this location because I was going to a convention and the location is great to the freeways. I wanted a gym to work out but half the equipment did not even come on and talk about fifty the equipment, ball and weights most likely had not been wipe down since purchased.
This is a 69.00 a night hotel with a view but if you like to party the bar on the weekend has music and the place is packed. I will say even thought the drinks are expensive they were good and the food was good and that was shocking based on the condition of the property. What would be best is that the place be sold

The property photo looked nothing like the actual property. We paid extra for a water view. (Which was ok). Outside our room was the maid service area. Carts of dirty sheets, trash and other room turn over thing were just outside our door. The bathroom shower had mold and moldew in it. We found roaches in the room. Toilet was not clean.
The staff at the WTR was ok. It seemed like they were more interest in talking to each other vs making sure guests were comfortable. There was construction at the pool that we didnt know about. It made for a difficult time to relax.
We complained and the management refunded our money without issue.

This property is older than it appears online. It's dirty, noisy and in need of renovation. Many patrons were smoking pot throughout the property. In the room, the floors were sticky, the tub was dirty and didn't drain, towels were rough. It was generally run down. Sketchy is a good description. Not family friendly at all. We will not be back.

Not what it used to be.
I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past few years. The location and view are amazing. With that said, I have noticed a decline in the cleanliness and upkeep at the hotel. The bathrooms need serious renovation and not just painting over the old tile. The vinyl tile in the bedroom area was worn as was the carpet in the hallway. On our most recent stay, the mirrored closet doors were missing and so was stopper in the bathroom sink. The bathroom towels were very hard, and the bathroom had hair on the floor as if it was not cleaned very well. In addition, the water drained very slow in the shower and the water pressure was extremely low. I was only there for one night, so I didn't bother to ask for another room. The staff was and always has been very friendly and helpful. The owner of this hotel needs to reinvest money into the property. There is a Westin hotel, Holiday Inn, and Double tree in the immediate area, but none have the views that the Godfrey does. Such a shame to let a property with a fabulous location decline in this way.

Disgusting room. So many hairs on the sheets when I pulled back the covers, some long, some thick some blondish. One had a bit of skin attached to it. Pubic hair on towel sitting on bathtub rail. Toilet with yellow crud around toilet lid bolts. Floor was filthy so put down towels to walk on. Halls filthy not vacuumed with weird petroleum smell. They should pay people to stay there, not the other way around. Just really beyond poor housekeeping. Seriously, if you’re not going to change the bed sheets, wash the floors or clean the toilets, why even come to work?

Hotel smelled like mildew and weed
Needed a hotel for one night before we headed to another part of Florida for Spring Break. The hotel claimed it was non smoking but the room we received on the third floor was about halfway down the hallway. We had to walk down with our two small kids and it smelled like weed. By the time we got to the room I’m surprised my kids weren’t high. The room itself had the AC cranked and it smelled like mildew. It looked like a melted wax stain on the carpet right when we walked in. The photos on the website showed a much more updated property but that wasn’t the room we received. It was after midnight so we just went to bed. The next morning we woke up and used the family pool. There is a small coffee shop in the lobby but that was about it. The garbage cans outside by the cafe and the pool area were all way too small and overflowing with garbage. No one was going around collecting them. There was one man working at the cafe and he seemed overwhelmed with the morning breakfast and coffee orders. If he wasn’t there I don’t know what they would’ve done.

I didn’t talk to the front desk so that’s my fault. But when I got there I found a false eyelash stuck to the remote. The bathroom around the bathtub was falling apart. It was flaking off . I booked a water view but when I got there it wasn’t available . Which is fine they adjusted my rate but still paying over $200 I feel like the room should have been cleaner and not falling apart. And to top it off I woke up with bites all over me. I’m disappointed since I thought this was a nicer place. Front desk was nice. Just the room was really lacking.

It’s a decent hotel. They charge an extra 23.00 a night “resort fee” for some reason which seems a little silly. The hotel could use a good bit of updating especially the rooms - bathrooms and hallways. The plumbing in my rooms bathroom was not working properly which was kind of a pain. The front counter staff were pretty friendly and easy parking was nice.

I Love the Godfrey it’s a beautiful place to stay for a reasonable price. The food at the Grill is decent. 10 minutes from the airport and in the summer is great if you are looking to party at the island grill type place in walking distance or relax by the pool Besides a mix up about the room we were supposed to stay in which was resolved would highly recommend for anyone planning a trip to Tampa.

The only thing I liked was the view and the staff was always kind. This was the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. After reluctantly showering I found a dark black hair on my arm (both of us staying in the room are blonde). There were pubes all over the bathroom, blood on my friends sheets, the slider door would barely lock, flooring was buckling, we lined our entire room in extra towels so we didn’t have to touch the floor. I woke up with 6 bites on my hands, I didn’t see any bed bugs but I didn’t look hard out of fear for the truth. It looks and smells like there has been water damage to the hotel that wasn’t dealt with. The WTR pool was good but we were told there would be a cover charge and huge chair charge ($400-$1000) starting next week. There was door slamming, yelling, and loud music from whiskey joes across the water late in to the night. I would never ever bring my children here between the partying and the filth. We were told we were getting a partial refund but have yet to receive it.

We enjoyed our time at the hotel, especially the location, right on the Bay and handy to Clearwater and TPA.
The only reason for the few average evaluations is that the filters needed cleaned (air conditioner, fans, etc) This is a pet peeve of my husband's.

The property has so much potential but looks to not be maintained very well. Our room was very dirty. Hair and mold all over the bathroom. There were make-up stains on the wash clothes. The AC barely worked. The walls were all stained and paint was cracking. And there were quite a few bugs found throughout the room. The sheets didn’t fit the mattress well and when they came off they revealed a very stained and dirty mattress. The pool and lobby areas seemed very nice. But my room was pretty discusting…

I am not a very picky person but this place is absolutely disgusting and run down. There is stains from the lobby to the rooms, looks like the ceiling is going to cave in around the hotel. The balcony door wouldn’t shut all the way, giving access to anyone, and there was needle caps in the hallway. We checked in and checked right back out.
I don’t recommend this hotel or Expedia for that matter. I guess I donated money to both of them cause neither will reimburse.

This hotel is very outdated especially our rooms bathroom! The front desk people were very respectful and polite! I happened to get sick on my vacation and wanted to rest but the yelling/noise in hallway from people until about midnight and hearing the music across the beach made that very impossible! The views from the hotel are nice though! The walls are paper thin you can hear everything!

Party location, but enjoyed our stay
The water views from the lobby, cafe, restaurant, and pools was awesome. There is a daily resort fee, but it includes parking, pool access, and bike rentals. The hotel rooms were pretty clean overall, but you had to request a cleaning crew visit your room if you were staying multiple nights, they didn’t automatically come or restock your towels/water bottles/etc. This hotel is at a great price point, but I wouldn’t recommend it for families or young children. It seemed like a party environment and you can hear people partying through the walls/balconies.

Room is close to the lobby and was very loud.
AC worked, but was struggling to keep cool, and made a significant banging noise when it cuts off.

very nice views , and restaurants on property were pretty nice. short staffed though. still nice for the amount of people there.

Nice place on the water but is in need of a little maintenance. Great location to stop and take in a sunset or be out of the hustle and bustle of Tampa.

Outdated and dirty. Found a roach in my room. No bar or food. Front desk people rude!
