Paid for a larger room with balcony and when we arrived they didn’t have it and put us in a smaller room that cost $90 less and told us the price was the same. Hotel is run down and the rooms smell like mold and the walls and baseboards are filthy. I’ve never even left a review but for $300 this place is horrible should be a 1 star. Also they leave out the charge you $25 travel fee or some nonsense and you can redeem it at their breakfast but they tried to charge for my two kids that are 6 and under.

I had a terrible experience with Hotel Tampa Riverwalk. I purchased two nights stay with them. I get to the hotel on Saturday afternoon about 2:00. The man at the front desk tells me that there are no rooms available at the moment (which I do understand check-in isn't technically until 4:00 so that is fine) he says he can hold our luggage and takes our phone number and says he will call us when our room is ready. So we have paid for valet to take our car, and they took our bags. We had a concert to go to so we head off to the concert trusting that our room will definitely be ready by the time we get back from the concert. Well we return later that night after the concert and they tell us that they have no room for us, even though we have already paid for two nights. So here it is almost midnight, and we have no place to stay. We are all the way from Virginia mind you. They were not apologetic; they did not try to help us find another hotel to stay at. They did not offer to reimburse our valet. They had no remorse and didn't try to help in anyway. They were rude and unkind. I was completely shocked. They just kicked me and my fiance' out where no where to go in the middle of the night. Terrible customer service! Absolutely terrible!

This is advertised as a 4 star, I won’t give it a 1 star. They just bought this property from Sheraton and did no changes, when you go to reception and complain there excuse is they are trying to collect money to renovate. AC doesn’t work properly, smell, dents, stains, mold, glass sliding door has rust around the frame, also the sliding glass door has a tint that is peeling and makes the glass look like it’s cracking so the river walk view we paid for never got. A please don’t make the mistake to open the sliding door your room will never get under 72. Pricing $300 for 1 king room $45 $25 resort fee $25 for basic breakfast if you choose to have it there.
To top it of valet killed my car battery.
I wouldn’t mind paying all this if I really was getting a 4 star room.

Great location, but not the best experience/stay
Check-in was wonderful! Zoe was very kind & helpful! When we returned to the hotel, around 11:30-11:45pm, I asked the front desk (I think her name is something like Danielle) for food (snack bar) and bottled water. She was not kind or helpful. Told me the restaurant was closed, and I could check with the bar, if they are willing to help me with water. Went to the bar, only to be ignored for about 5-10 minutes. 1 bartender for all the loud rowdy people ending the night for last call. Finally was paid attention to, to find out I need to get bottled water from the front desk. A nice gentleman helped me with the bottled water at the front desk. We were forced to pay $25 for services, which we didn't need or want, so we wasted our $25 on an expensive beer and cocktail from the closing bar. Did not see any areas to gain food/snacks, which most hotels offer. The bed was mildly comfortable, but the pull out couch was horribly uncomfortable. One of our pillows reeked of B.O. so we couldn't use it. Loved the location, but cannot say we're dying to return for future travel.

The Hotel staff was super good. The guys in valet parking very nice and fast. Once I arrive, the bed sheets is dirty, the room is not very good for the price, the carpet was dirty too, the air conditioner windows has dirty and the balcony is not clean. I don’t recommend this hotel.

I was disappointed I had reserved a king size bed and water view. I had the street view where loud noises were. Checking was horrible. Was so disappointed because a lady who works for with McDill recommend Tampa Riverwalk. Did they do this because I was old? I couldn’t even get them to discuss with me. I can see the street in Dallas.

Room wasn’t ready at check in time-gave us a different one and charged me more. Had special drinks for the concert at the restaurant- served in a plastic margarita glass with ants floating on top. No need for that bar or food credit because I wouldn’t go near the bar or restaurant again.

Location is prime, HOWEVER.. 3 nights into my stay at 3 am a security guard and a RANDOM PEDESTRIAN came banging on my door trying to get in my room stating someone left something in there days ago, dealt with the rudest employee I’ve ever met when we confronted this issue at the front desk, he even threatened to kick us out!! Then the next night we met another couple who stated someone also was in their room!!! Felt very unsafe staying here after this, even tho they comped us one night out of our stay, I would NEVER stay here again or recommend to anyone. Sliding glass doors for the patio don’t lock all the way, and the toilets don’t flush all the way… so many issues. Safety being the biggest concern of them all. Such a shame as it’s such a nice location.

The ‘double beds’ were two full size, not queen, the pillows might as well not even been on the bed because your head sinks right through them, our HVAC unit made dull thudding sounds that made it sound like someone was trying to get into our room all night, everything was dated, and housekeeping woke us up at 8:30am on our last day, asking if we were staying another day.

So if I were to put my name on something I would make sure that it was top notch. This property of course is very old but even considering this there were so many unsightly issues throughout the hotel. Had I not had an event there I would have quickly left.

Not a good experience.
The experience was bad. Mattress is bad wuality, pillows are bad quality as well.
Bathroom not clean.
The AC was not working I called front desk and they offered a fan. I refused and had to come doen to get a new room.

No longer a Sheraton, and after a period as an independent hotel, the property is now supposedly aligned with Hilton. Having stayed at this property over the course of 10 years, I have watched the hotel’s decline due primarily to its physical condition. While the current management and staff were very nice, the food outlet surprisingly better than expected and the rooms clean, the common areas, and things like the room key locks and sliding balcony doors are tired and in need of replacement. This has been the case for some time now, which probably explained the change in franchise affiliations, and is desperately needed. The location of the property is ideal for business and leisure activities, and features (although expensive) valet parking services. If Hilton can get a capital replacement plan into action, the property has potential to be great. But it will be very costly and remains to be seen.

Loved our stay although Alot of the staff were not very friendly to my husband at all ! It was my birthday and the service he received while trying to make sure everything was perfect was less than satisfactory! Room was nice amf comfortable pool amazing and bartenders were the nicest staff !

Hotel was dirty, bugs in my room daily. Minimal to no amenities. Valet broke mirror on car. Unruly guests starting fights on lobby. It was an absolute disgrace especially for $500 per night. Horrible experience will never return

The reviews had me expecting a horrible stay but I'm glad I followed my gut and stayed anyway. Everything was wonderful. I had a great room on the river with great views. The restaurant and bar was awesome. I especially liked the convenience of transportation. I will be back.

The property is not the same as the pictures that are advertised. Approaching the hotel it seem like hotel was slightly older. The painting on the outside was not the best but vale car service does a great job with customer service. A gentlemen at the front desk was very rude didn’t provide much information to any of our questions/concerns. His Attitude was not welcoming at all. The room are very very old, my tub had chipping pieces. The wall had spots where you could see someone had just plastered a hole in the wall and didn’t use the same paint as the rest of the wall. Lastly the balcony had very simple chairs that looked fragile. Tampa is a great place and the customer service overall was pretty good despite that one gentlemen at the front desk, housekeeping was polite also. However I would never stay here again or suggest anybody stay here.

Hotel Tampa riverfront
The room is dirty and the furniture dated. Bathroom is filthy, never mopped, the shower has mold holes and cracks, mirror old and peeling edges. Screws popping out sliding door trim. Ceiling walls are cracked and touch up paint that doesn’t match. Water damages to furniture and doors. Closet not functional and the safe is not working could not unpack and use dresser. Complete false advertisement online and overpriced for the quality of the room. I stayed at the x spot in Wesley Chapel that was better in every aspect red roof inn out performing a Hilton property is a disgrace to the name. The managers ignored us and was in meetings and desk agents could care less. I would like fifty percent of my stay refunded. We did decide to stay because of location and the inconvenience of moving.

Great Hotel
It was amazing. The view of the Riverwalk was fabulous. We had a $25 credit each day the restaurant in the lobby and the service was great and attentive. I also enjoyed the gym and pool area. There was grocery store down the street so I could buy my own food as well; thanks to the convenient location. I will look into staying there next time I go to Tampa

I have stayed on this property many times before it changed to Hotel RW. It is great if you want to be close to everything around downtown and UT campus. Even though they were working on updating our floor of the hotel our room was very nice and clean and we were not at all disturbed by the people working. The restaurant is always good and has a very nice pool and gym.

Limited places to eat late night in Tampa. Valet parking is inconvient. I didn’t mind paying the $40US per night to park but just let me drive my car in and out of the parkade myself at my leisure. We had to wait a few times. Bad experience each day with lack of public transit in Tampa.

Hotel is in a great location; it needs some TCL but I understand the facilities will undergo a renovation soon; front desk staff needs to smile a little and greet or answer customers when they are addressed to; walking distance to the CC which makes it very convenient. An average stay.

Location location location!!! Hotel rooms are very dated and are in need of updating (more comfortable seating, peeling paint and wallpaper). The staff of this hotel are amazing! We have stayed here 3 times and have always had outstanding service.

Don’t let the staff at front desk insist that they charge you the full amount to stay. Took a while to get Expedia to fix their mess and then to return the money they charged it takes 3-5 days. Hotel in a great spot for the river walk but the unnecessary stress of the overpayment made it not enjoyable. Amazing they can hit your account right away and even when a mistake takes 5 days to return the money.

Couch was broke and made horrible noise when sat on. There wwas rust in the bathroom. The bathroom grab bar was broke. The paint was chipped and pealing everywhere.

The A/C did not cool, the bathroom was dirty, there is no microwave, I called the front desk several times and no one responded, I went down to report that the desk chair was damaged and told them to change it and they never did, they charged extra money over the reservation I initially made and there is no parking only valet parking.

Property was okay, but DEFINITELY not with the price. Charges a resort/amenity fee, but I am not sure what amenities there were. Also, $42 for valet for one night. Seemed expensive, on top of the $25 resort fee. Drinks at the bar were also incredibly overpriced. I felt like I was being scammed my entire stay. The room wasn’t even that nice. Very basic. At least it was clean. I’ve stayed at nicer La Quinta’s for 1/3 of the price and had a more enjoyable stay.

The staff was amazing and the location on the Riverwalk was nice. But the rooms were very dated. The shower would not drain. There was no water in the room as described and the balcony had no chairs. The hotel is not worth the resort fees and the extremely high valet service.

I have stayed at this property a handful of times and enjoy the balcony views however my view was obstructed with a roof and you could hardly see the Riverwalk. The curtains are ripped, tv remote did not work, musty room smell, no toilet paper in the bathroom, dirty bathtub. Check in was ok, you could tell they were counting down the minutes. The valet was fast and efficient. Seems like they have upped the price but not the quality of this place. There’s plenty of better and newer properties here to rather enjoy. This is the last time we will be staying here. Not impressed.

Not a place to stay!! Stay away!
The only thing good about the hotel was that it was directly on the river.
The rest sucked! We arrived about an hour early to check in…we were fine waiting in the lobby using the wifi while waiting. The guy said that he would inform us when the room was available….well he never did. About 45 minutes in, looked up and I guess his shift ended and he just took off. All the people that came after us, got their rooms before us and didn’t have to wait!
Then when I checked in with some girl, she asked for my credit card, I assumed for the deposit in case you damage anything seeing that I had prepaid everything on Hotels.com. Well, no she proceeded to charge me for the room. When I tolls her I prepaid, she said she didn’t know how to remove it. The person she called over made up a story about different system since they became a Hilton recently and can’t find my booking.
They didn’t correct it until checkout the next morning, where the lady in the morning said that my booking was on the system all along and none of the previous stuff should have happened. She removed the complete charge for me. Here’s the kicker….I got charged 23.68 on my visa for the room being put on my visa and then taken off as the exchange rate from US to Cdn changed! I shouldn’t be out anything, I paid for my room months earlier!! Unreal!
Also hotel old, rooms not pleasant, restaurant staff absolutely horrible…took 30 minutes to get served for breakfast, extremely loud all night with cars screeching.

Staff was excellent, very helpful. The room conditions left more to be desired, there were blood stains on my pillowcase when I checked in, the mattress cover kept coming off, the closets had a bit of a moldy smell. The balconies are very spacious and the view is incredible, the lobby and public spaces were very clean and updated but the rooms definitely did not justify the rate this hotel commands.

Enjoyed my stay, loved the river view. Valet service was good great attendants. If I had to say or point out anything negative, the hotel has no vending machines, I was given the option to go next door to the Aloft Hotel whose gift shop was still open and purchased soda.

Loved the Balcony & View!!
Love the balcony overlooking the river. My room was over the pool & outdoor bar so was nice to sit outside & listen to the music & people watch. There was also a boardwalk to take a stroll on. There happen to be rowing teams practicing the night I stayed there and it was great watching them go up & down the river.
Hotel was great, only thing was the bathroom had a few issues, like the hot water knob was broken. It had been remodeled but poorly done, could see the sink pipes coming out of the wall. But it was usable for the night.

Well, I wish I could say better things about this property but here it goes. The rooms are completely outdated. The air-conditioning was not working. We called down to the front desk and we told maintenance would be up to the room within 15 minutes. They did not arrive until an hour later worked on it for short while said give it some time and it’ll start working again. it never got below 74°. The bathroom tub was so old it was permanently dark so we showered with our flip-flops on. Every time we sat on the toilet it creaked and sounded like it was going to rip from the wall. The bathroom mirror was crooked . The room had this old carpeting. The bed was uncomfortable. It wasn’t worth the amount of money they were charging for the location. We ended up eating our money and just checking out the next day instead of staying. There is no way I could stay there another night.

Other than a 2 hour check in because Expedia did not transfer my booking to hotel it’s was great. After I did research on my end and showed it was paid for all was good and gave us an extra $25 for inconvenience.

Nice place to stay. Within walking distance to a lot of things. Perfect place to stay for gasparilla. We will definitely be back for our Tampa visits.
