Its a great location but disappointing on the place itself, not the staff. Its not the staffs fault. Very run down and outdated. Love south beach though, food all around and super close to the convention center

Average hotel, outdated, you must walk through Taco Taco restaurant (we had to find this out on our own, no instructions from receptionist) to access room, staff at Taco Taco was very rude.

They own three buildings, and I was given a room in Maxine which is next door, so I can't say anything about the Catalina building. Nevertheless, the one I did stay in is an old building with a rundown elevator. Security is not the best as anyone can get in as there is no need to use a key to use the elevators and there is no reception. The bed was clean but the floor not so much.

Believe the reviews on this site. Smelly hallway with dirty carpet. Cheaply done renovated rooms. Breakfast was disappointing at Maxine’s. Bacon hard and no coffee refills. That’s crazy! I’d stayed here in 2018….but it is definitely not the same. Never to return.

I had the worst experience, the hotel in general was very dirty and the room was never cleaned before being handed over to us, they only put Clorox in the bathroom and we had to leave because we couldnt breath from the smell,but the bathroom was full of hair and very dirty, the bed was also dirty,there were missing sheets and among those that were all laid out badly there was hair, I had to go down to ask for sheets and make my own bed because first the phone didn't work to call the front desk and then they didn't have anyone to clean it immediately and it was late at night so we coldnt wait. There were also cockroaches. I wouldn't recommend it and would never go back.

Liked: PERFECT location in South Beach, a block from beach, shopping, Lincoln Road shopping, dining, and nice lobby area, pleasant staff.
Disliked: 1/2 of a false eyelash on floor, hair in tub, bathroom was poorly cleaned. But bedding seemed clean.

This is one of the dirtiest hotels that i have ever been to , all the furniture were old and did not function property , for examble the door would lock itself.The staff was nice.There was a lot of mold in the hall.

The way this “hotel” is run speaks volumes of how much they care about their customers. First of all, there is putrid smell coming out of the carpets once you get out of the elevator. Second, the A.C. In my room was so hot, it felt like a sauna. I tried calling the front desk on multiple occasions to no avail. In the room next door a very loud fight ensued, which kept us up all night. Once again, I called the front desk but nobody answered. I had enough of this place and decided to speak to go the front desk myself. They sent a technician to my room that supposedly “fixed” the A.C. However, the heat was unbearable. The next morning I went to take a shower and the shower head fell off. At this point, I was furious! Went to the front desk again and I was told “the phones have been down”. Nobody was super dismissive. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR DEPLORABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES.

The property is older and the room was small. One of the windows in our room wasn’t sealed properly and we heard a lot of noise and there was a draft.

The hotel was quaint and very inviting. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back. The room was clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed the snacks and drinks available for purchase in the room. They had quite the selection and the convenience of it was great as we didn’t have to leave the room.

There was zero toilet paper in our room upon arrival. When we asked we were given 1 roll. We had to ask each day of our stay. The room was good enough. The comforter had brown stains on it in each corner. Mold in the windowsills. Mini bar items were expired in 2019, 2022, and 2023.

The actual hotel room itself was OK. Had the basics minus a microwave when we got in everything was damp the towels, the beds everything. A little bit of humidity as expected close to the beach. But it was significantly bad. The staff was very nice.

Some of the reviews were so bad that I really wasn't sure if I should stay, but I saw a few good reviews that led me to taking a chance. I know the area very well, so I know this was a good location as far as proximity to beach, food, and shopping. Check-in was a little hectic, there was a slight wait, but no complaints there. The room was spacious and smelled like it had just been cleaned. This would have been a 5/5 review, but the TV did not work and it never got fixed, no matter how many times I asked and unfortunately on the very last day, we were shocked to find a roach which we recorded and shared with the front desk. Front desk staff was always nice but never fixed the problems.

The initial Hotel desk staff spoke limited English & didn’t say anything about 3 separate hotels being under one management. At no point was I told that my room was in a separate building. No available coffee or water for free or sale. Had to call the desk to get towels as one wash cloth & one hand towel was in the room. No floor towel or matt. Room didn’t match photographs except maybe years old photo.

Staffs make it very uncomfortable..
Front desk people not friendly at all .. they came and open my room 3 times ..noises from different rooms ..i didn’t feel comfortable at all .. lady in the night shift also very rude .. I’m not coming back to this hotel

There was mold in the bathroom, we had no trash cans, and the AC unit was loud. Room could have been cleaner. There was a previous guests diabetic strip near one of the beds.

The room was extremely dirty, the bathroom has a lot of mold, it seems like it has been a long time since the room was cleaned. Hair from other hurts in the shower, dust and hair on the floor of the room, only 2 bath towels, there was no rug in the bathroom for after showering. Sad that the birthday surprise for my wife left us so unsatisfied.

Great price, the room a little smaller when It has two beds. I was on the first floor so that was disturbing because of the bar next door. I slept with AirPods on after awhile and was fine

There is black mold on the windows and I’m the shower as well. Black mold is the most dangerous mold that you can have anywhere near somebody. Very disappointing for the location

Only after 5 days, and only at my request, was the room cleaned. Internet service was out most of the time, and when it was, it was intermittent. I had to request toilet paper twice, and a very limited supply was given. The front desk does not answer the telephone, so I had to journey to the building where the front desk was.

I was "upgraded" from the second floor to the room located on a first floor with AC noisy as a tractor, relict of the previous century, probably even midcentury. Next day I asked to put me in what I booked on a ground that I wake up every time the AC is launched. Administration refused. Explanation - there is no such room available, there was no such room ever available to me, although I booked it just previous evening and was one of the first to come to check in. Another advice - don't look under the side table. Unless you are interested in someone else's underwear.

They do not clean the rooms. Do not replace the toilet paper or towels unless asked even when the sign to please clean is left on the door. They only throw out garbage. The air conditioning barely works in some rooms and there are no shower doors.

We came in at 1 to see if we could check in early they said that they didn’t have anything available which is fine but said we would be the first ones to check in when it’s time. Came in 20 mins early from check in time said they didn’t have anything ready lady at the front continued to call over people’s names that came in after us. After this happening 3 times I went up to double check if our name was on the list she just looked at me and continued to call out other people’s names. Didn’t even knowledge me. When we did get check in an HOUR later the room was smaller than the one we reserved and it was not the cleanest. You can hear everything that can happens in the hallway and next door.

Was traveling with a group of friends and had four different rooms. One room had a caterpillar climbing up the wall and hair in the bathroom, our room had a visible iron burn on the bedding, dirt on the bathroom floor, and I had to constantly mess with the AC to get it to work properly, and another room was just plain filthy and the AC didn’t work at all, and those friends ended up being moved to a new room. I expected more from a hotel in Miami Beach.

The location is ideal. Check in lady was not very helpful. Not enough towels in our room. Found long black hair in our room. Had to request toolkit paper no back up. Hallway, elevator and stairs dirty. Lower pool was good. Two attached restaurants were good.

The Catalina hotel is located towards the end of Collins so it’s not noisy as ocean drive. I stayed one night for a little staycation and it was great. They have a little cafe inside and are one of 3 properties which you get to use their amenities as well.

The room room was terrible A/C didn’t work and the bathroom sink leaking also switched my room to a handicap room cause they were so-called out of rooms, they had no wash cloths the entire stay only towels and gave hand towels for wash cloths I definitely will never stay again.

BEWARE, the staircase had human feces in the stairwell and urine throughout. The Elevator Smelled like rotten fish mixed with Vomit. The staff DOES NOT EVER answer the phone. Try the number for yourself you'll see. I'm a Miami local and never write reviews but I needed to share this, and I sent a photo of the staircase defecation to the hotel requesting refund. Still no contact to me made by hotel. I will never stay here again and will go get checked for exposure to biohazard.

The second we walked in our room there was sand (not from us) on our feet. We were given 3 towels for 4 people. Our tv never once worked. The A/C in the room would not stay on, leaving us hot and uncomfortable throughout the night. When asked to switch rooms we were told there was no other room available to us. There was one microscopic garbage in the bathroom which had no use. There was no microwave anywhere on the premises (for a hotel with two restaurants and a bar??). Upon checking out we brought all of this to the staff’s attention, to which they looked at us like we were crazy. It’s in a convenient spot and that’s about it. The rest of the staff was a delight but the room, not so much.

This property has deteriorated, it is very poorly kept. We stayed three nights and received no housekeeping service, it was noisy in our room, we had to go and get more towels.
I have stayed many times and will never come back to this hotel or any of the hotels owned by them.

After reading recent reviews, I had hesitation, but decided to book anyway. So glad I did!
Overall, the stay was great and I recommend.
During check in, the front desk employee noticed it was going to be my boyfriend's birthday the following day, and was extra accommodating. He gave us a room hours before the check in time at no charge (also due to availability), upgraded our room, and surprised with a bottle of Brut.
The Junior Suite King room was spacious, modern, and aesthetically pleasing.
As mentioned by others, the room only had one face towel and no wash cloths. This wasn't an issue for me. They also had pool towels to lend.
There were complimentary drinks for happy hour 5pm-6pm daily, which was also great.
Since the hotel is actually 3 separate properties next to each other, so there was access to 2 pools.

I stayed here for one night , after being there for not even an hour the room where the toilet was located started leaking from the ceiling practically drenching the entire floor, the toilet paper was not fresh it had blue smeared all over it , I tried getting a drink from the fridge and the coke has what looked like sand covering the rim of the soda. From the outside it was a beautiful hotel but staying there was very disappointing. Not to mention with all the room switching we had to we asked for a late checkout by an hour and all they could do was half an hour it was just not a very pleasant experience and I was very disappointed.

Absolutely disgusting. Would never stay again. Room was not clean. There was long black hairs on the bed and every room that we were moved to. Two showers were not clean. Used bar of soap was left in the shower. Dried paper towels were left as well. Supervisor at front desk didn't offer any resolution. Contacted a manager via email and got a blanket response. Checking in the receptionist was super rude and slow. I wouldn't give them $20 to stay here. Never again

This is an older hotel that has done a quite nice remodel. The rooms are small but beds are comfortable and pillows are nice. Cleaners came in and refreshed towels which was quite nice! The front desk were friendly and professional. It's super convenient and walkable to shops, restaurants and beach. Downside - had to use valet parking which was pricey and of course they expect an additional tip. Also, the music from the restaurant drove us crazy at night and we had to sleep with the bath fan on to drown it out but you could still hear it in the rooms.

This is a terrible hotel to stay at. The rooms were dirty. The beds had bugs in them. When brought to the attention of supervisor staff we were told “oh they just look like ants”. The manager never even spoke to us about our situation. She avoided us at every pint possible. She was supposed to give me a call 3 days in a row. We had to keep calling and going to the hotel just to be told she was always busy with something else . We were not given a refund even though we did not stay at this hotel. We were told they don’t want our pictures and videos as proof of the condition.

The hotel is in a convenient area, so I could walk to eat at many restaurants and to eat.
But they don't provide breakfast, or a microwave which is a same for the price I paid for the room.

I really dont know why so many negative comments about this hotel. Yes, is an older hotel so you get what you pay for... but our room was clean, they placed in a room away from noise which was great. Diego and Livia were really great and accommodating... Before I left I expressed to Diego that the roof top pool lounge furniture needs to be cleaned and probably replaced.. Other than that our stay was as expected..

It was a dorm room with a shower. Heard all noises from outside the room. Maintenance was slow for batteries. Front desk never answered phone. $100/night deposit hold as soon as you get there. Mini bar & snacks in room at a charge higher than going to store.

I was very disappointed the photos showed one thing and I got another. Not only did we have ro pay a resort fee but we had to also put an additional 500 dollar hold on the room. I will never stay here again when I visit Miami.

I enjoyed the stay at the Catalina, Just a few things that need work. The phone in the room did not work. We had to keep calling for towels... they kept forgetting to bring floor towels. Also, cleaning should be offered every day because it's next to the beach not on the 3rd day of your stay. Overall the location was pleasant and convenient.

Didn't like the area. Too many homeless and too much weed. The hotel was cheap so we didn't expect much. Won't stay at this area with family again. Some great restaurants though so that was nice.

This “hotel” is a complete catfish! Rooms are so dirty I was disgusted to touch a thing. Stains on linens, smell is a whole different issue. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

I think the negative reviews of this place are very misleading. I have stayed in numerous hotels around the world and this was up there with one of my most enjoyable. I would say it is a young person/ couple hotel, so maybe some of reviews are stemming from that as I do think it would be more suited to a younger customer due to the vibe and location. Rooms are pleasant and nice decor. Bathrooms need a bit of TLC but nothing out of the ordinary , just a standard hotel bathroom. Air con was excellent but slightly noisy. Pools are gorgeous and well maintained. House keeping does not come daily. Also the 400€ safety deposit is absurd and should be abolished. It is $100 per night so we had to pay $400 at the hotel for this service, I think 25 per night would be more than enough, then having to wait up to two weeks to get it back, it is really annoying. Other than that I can’t fault the hotel. There seems to be a lot of ants around the pool and I’m covered in bites but didn’t see any cockroaches. Food in taco taco is great. And there is a free Happy Hour which ive Never come across before in a hotel with unlimited daily cocktails from 5-6 , a nice touch.
