If you're searching for a hotel in Downtown Newport with compassionate hospitality then you should look into staying here. The food we ordered couldn't have been prepared any better by the restaurant associated with the hotel. And be careful not to drink too many alcoholic beverages because they are delicious and worth every drop (I mean dollar...teehee). My partner and I booked a room with the harbor view and the view and set up of the room were certainly another aspect of the hotel that I would suggest experiencing. On top of these impressive things I've already discussed, the hotel is clean, eco-friendly, has drink vending machines, coffee available in your room, a pool that didn't appear to get crowded, and checking in/out was fast. One last thing I'd like to share about this hotel/resort in one of the most historically respected parts of the nation is that there is no need to risk your life and drive to a local bar. And I say that because there's a delicious restaurant, a bar with a bartender that clearly knows what he/she is doing, AND, you get two FREE drink tickets as a gift for staying their. I can't wait to go back and I HOPE you have an opportunity to stay at this specific hotel in Newport, RI, a place I've always loved visiting every year as a child growing up.

Easy check in and out, and restaurant on site. The room was comfortable as were the beds. The pool was large however not heated. Overall it was a lovely hotel and I will stay again.

Very impressed with the Newport Harbor Hotel. I shopped around prior to booking as price was important as well as a harbor view. This hotel was one of the least expensive hotels on the water and is right in the heart of downtown Newport with great shopping all around. The staff were very friendly and very good to guests.
Four adults stayed in a room with two double beds and we were cramped. There was only a desk chair for additional seating, which just wasnât enough. I share this just as a heads up, probably fine for a family of four, but four adults for girlâs weekend the room was too small.
Would absolutely be my first choice when visiting Newport! Plus parking was plentiful and not an additional fee.

Paper thin walls, we were up all night with the conversations from neighboring room. No microwave in the room. Our âharbor viewâ was that of a huge crane and giant dumpster. For almost $300/night, I guess I expected more.

Stayed one night. Came in after 9 pm and we were out by 8 am. Slept well, shower was great and we got a great recommendation for a local breakfast place from the woman at the front desk. Would stay again.

Great location, friendly staff, especially Anthony in the restaurant. Disappointed the restaurant closes at 8 PM on the weekend, menu options are not comparable to surrounding restaurants. Room was located by elevator and ice machine at some times noisy. TV channels did not coincide with TV channel guide in room. Overall great hotel been staying here for 20 years

Rooms felt a bit dated, but had plenty of space. My only complaint is that the toilet took a strangely long time to flush. The beds were comfortable and the view of the marina was lovely. The location is perfect!!

Nice hotel on Harbor
Nice hotel right on Newport Harbor and Bowens Wharf, many restaurants and stores in walking distance. Unfortunately our next door neighbors were partying loudly til 2am. However the staff apologized and was extremely nice about moving us to a different room the next morning. We loved the large indoor salt water pool, so nice to not smell chlorine!

You canât ask for a better location than this hotel. Itâs located right in the heart of the restaurants and shops at the warf, and everything is in walking distance. They have a great secure parking lot so you donât have to find street parking. They have a heated indoor pool that my kids loved. The staff is especially nice and friendly at this hotel. We will definitely book here again when we come to Newport again.

I read so many negative reviews about the hotel that I was nervous about it. Instead, we received a very warm welcome at the reception which included 2 free drinks tickets at the hotel bar. Our room was cute and clean. The bathroom was small but clean. I liked that the hotel had products from the local soap company, what a great way to support and promote a local business. The location is central. We stayed only 1 night but really enjoyed it, will definitely consider for the future stays.

Not so pleased
Was excited for our stay given the reviews Iâve read about the hotel. Was disappointed however when we checked into our room and there wasnât any toilet paper. I asked housekeeping, in the hallway, for a roll-he told me he didnât have any and handed me a box of tissues. I explained that I wanted toilet paper not tissues, he grabbed a roll out of another room. The hotel itself seemed in between dingy and renovations, the bathroom adjacent to the bar area always had a foul smell and was unclean. The bar was nice, however was closed at 6pm on Saturday night! Although the location of the hotel is prefect, a short walk to all shops and restaurants, we will not be returning on future trips to the area.

The first impression was the dirty and very outdated lobby. We walked into our room and were greeted with a mold smell and dirty carpet smell. Front desk moved us to another room at an additional fee on top of the 688.00 that we already paid, for one night and this room was only marginally better.

Entire floor smelled the urine, completely hits you in the face when the elevator opens. Elevators were way past inspection date. Rooms were very outdated, lots of broken hinges and doorknobs. Tub didnât drain. Thereâs better accommodations at budget motels. The owners should be ashamed of themselves for charging what they do.

Front desk manager was great. She upgraded us for the second night free of charge upon asking. Hotel bar was closed during our stay, disappointing but they comped amenity fees. Parking was easy and close. Ladies in breakfast room was nice and friendly.

I made a reservation at this hotel from 9/1/23 - 9/4/23. I called the hotel around 4:30pm on 9/1/23 and told them that I wasn't going to make to the hotel on the 1st, and if they would allow me to check in on the 2nd instead. The person told me over the phone that it would be okay, but they would still charge for the night that I didn't stay. I got to the hotel on the 2nd, and the same person who spoke to me over the phone told me they gave my room away because it was a no show. She understood I called, and that I spoke to her over the phone, however, they did not have any rooms available at the hotel for me to stay. Her response, as well as the response of her manager was "I am sorry, but we can't do anything to help you with this".
Horrible, terrible customer service. If I didn't call the day before, I would understand, but I called and I was told that they would hold the room. It was very frustrating to go through this situation. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

For the price that we paid, I was not very impressed with this hotel. Hotel staff was very friendly and location was great, but the hotel itself was very dated. Our room and bathroom was dirty and dated with permanent stains. From the pictures online, I was expecting a new and clean hotel, and was thus not impressed in the overall condition of this hotel.

This hotel is in the heart of Newport, right in walking distance of so many shops, restaurants, cafes etc. We booked 5 days at this hotel and we were able to walk to every single restaurant and shop that we wanted to go to. Easy parking at the hotel too. We were also able to upgrade our room to one of the rooms with a walkout sliding door that gave us access to 2 chairs and a table, along with the lawn courtyard, lawn games, and fire pit. The main downside with this hotel is, where they make up for in convenience, they lack in modern or luxury rooms. The rooms felt very outdated. The bathroom was pretty small and had almost no counter space. The room had one comfy chair with an autumn so one of us needed to sit on the bed. We wish it had a couch instead.
I wouldn't have an issue with going back to this hotel but I would probably look to see if there were any other options in the same area first.

Short staffedâŚno maid service 4 out of 6 daysâŚ.then when they did they did not clean bathroom, replace coffee cream cups..the TV was a 32â. Bathroom was the size of a coat closet no where to put our supplies⌠Pictures in the bathroom was smeared with something. Gave us 2 drink tickets but was limited to house punch cola or sangria. Trash and a dirty mattress in the stairwell. No restaurantâŚfront desk girl try to school me on housekeeping saying we had our do not disturb sign on the door which we did but removed it when we left at 10 am. Housekeeping did not come back later. We r on vacay and not going to get up at 7 and wait for our room to be cleaned. Paid 3400.00 for a crappy hotel

The location is very good. The hotel itself is not as bad as some of the reviews described. One thing that I don't like is the extra fee they charge for the swimming and parking facilities. But they give you buy 1 get one free breakfast rewards which balanced my dissatisfaction.

A get away!
We like the place as it is close to the harbor, market, restaurants.
However, when we checked in, our room was not yet cleaned. We were given a new room with a nice view but the noise outside was very much audible.
The coffee voucher we had was never used as the lady in the Cafe was not in her best mood.
The good thing, we are closed to cafes and restaurants.

Our room was infested with ants. They were nice about letting us change rooms but our second room was too loud, as we could hear other guests through the thin walls. And they filled our ant-infested room that afternoon with somebody else. The interior of the hotel is drab with lax security. On the other hand the saltwater pool is wonderful and the fire pit and backyard are fun and maintained well. However the amenities fee for the pool, basic Wi-Fi and average in-room coffee is a poor value. But it also covers parking so it makes more sense if you arrive by car. If you want to pay top dollar for a very good location and a nice pool this is it, but your sleep and in-room comfort will be compromised. The Saltwater restaurant and bar are decent but bring your complimentary drink vouchers.

Great location on Thames Street easy walk to restaurants, bars, live music, shopping, the arcade, the harbor, the ferry to Providence and the local water taxi. Can easily walk Thames and the Washington Square district. Short drive to other attractions on Bellevue, the beaches and mansions. Easy in/out parking on site.
The staff was very friendly and while the property has been updated, it's still a little tired in areas.

NIGHTMARE HOTEL
The room was never cleaned. Trash piled up for many days even that i asked for room service. In the hallways was sitting Dirty Ear qtips for many days. Pool filthy and deteriorated really dangerous. Staff rude and unprofessional. Salt restaurant waiters very rude. Mattresses stained and deteriorated springs. First day moved in another hotel because they overlooked and blamed the app. Just avoid booking this hotel.

The Harbor Hotel knows that it has a monopoly on its location...so why upgrade the lobby, hallways and for sure the rooms...which have probably not been upgraded in 25 years. They have you by the you know whats...and they charge OUTRAGEOUS prices.... One night was $593 for a room equivalent to a Motel 6. Basically a dump in a wonderful city, Newport. They should be ashamed nut why? They gotch ya....

Best Location Ever!
This was our first time visiting Rhode Island and we were so excited about the location of The Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina. It was so close to everything we wanted to see in Newport and everything about our visit was excellent. Thank you for such a great place!

This property is Old. And I donât mean charming and historic. I mean 1970âs old and unrenovated. The location is excellent and the staff is too, but donât stay here unless you want to hear everything going on in the other rooms around you - and I do mean âeverythingâ. This place was built when cardboard was used for walls. I was very disappointed.

Overall a good stay
They accommodated a rate change as we booked a harbor view and there were none available upon check in. The rate change was a plus. The hotel front desk extremely pleasant. The location of the hotel is excellent. Room was clean. However there was NO body wash or shampoo in the shower. Housekeeping appeared to overlook that for several rooms as I heard more people complain of such.

Second time here and would continue to come back. Perfectly located in the town. Great view of the harbor. Rooms are basic but clean. Indoor pool was quiet. Lots of places to sit outside.

Great location, which I loved. Easy parking, room was clean, and loved the buy one get one free breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean, but not enough outlets, bad lighting, and the a/c didnât keep the room a consistent temperature which affected my sleep. The hallway also always had a bad smell.

Two night stay. No housekreeping services available as they said they were short staffed. Had to go to front desk for towels, water, extra coffees. Out of toilet paper so I called down and they did bring it up.
Restaurant was closed on Wednesday (first night).
Still charged resort fee. Thought place was a little run down and didnât like not having room cleaned and beds made in morning
Wouldnât stay there again if I didnât have to.
