The staff was very helpful and friendly- we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The history of the the location was very interesting as well. We were able to walk to the Ballard Locks and the Botanical Garden from the inn.

Small room, but a good deal for the Ballard area
We arrived super early and the folks at the Hotel Ballard (the sister property) were super welcoming. Our primary reason for not giving a 5-star rating is that the room was very, very small. It was too small for two people to stay in very long. But if you want a nice, clean place to stay in a great part of Seattle at a very good price, the Ballard Inn is a good choice.

Quaint and comfortable
We chose the Ballard Inn as it was close to the cruise ship port. The area around the Ballard Inn is very quaint and easy to get around. Easy access to restaurants and shopping. The Ballard in is more of a B and B style. Shared bathrooms and smaller rooms but no restaurant as there are many within walking distance.

A simple, no frills place with the added bonus of providing free access to the Olympic Athletic Club, right across the street. It’s quite reasonably priced for the Seattle area.
One caveat, I think the place may have a rodent problem as I noticed what I think was mouse poop in the shared washroom -by the sink and by the hallway light switch fixture. It’s an old building so I’m sure a few mice may be inevitable, but a bit off putting nonetheless.

Very charming and comfy but….
My room was very cute and comfortable. The shared bathrooms was fine… That comes with these older hotels. I think it should be a little more clear that the pools and spa are in a building next-door. Also, it was weird that I had to walk to their other hotel across the road and upstairs to get ice (frustrating) Otherwise, it was nice.

Fantastic Location
Ballard Inn is located right in the heart of Ballard. Fantastic location. Ballard has an amazing Farmers' Market every Sunday which we enjoyed so much more than Pike's Place Market. And the locks and a garden are within walking distance. Cannot beat this location. Only downsides are the rooms are noisey and not very dark but they do provide ear plugs. And they do not have air conditioning and we happened to be there on an 85 degree day. Yet we still enjoyed are stay immensely. Many great restaurants just outside the door.

Short stay, great ‘food’ neighborhood
The room was clean although a bit of noise from the street through the evening. Ok during the night. Bed comfortable. Didn’t appreciate the bathroom was shared until check in but clean and pleasant. Could do with an extra power outlet in the room.

You get what you pay for. Shared shower and bathroom no elevator for upper floors. Little ice but available a block away. Room very small and no AC. in 90° degree weather.

For the price it was not a good deal...we got a beautiful cabin in Orcas Island for pretty much same price. Shared bathrooms, tiny room with nothing but a bed, no AC so it was hot but hard to keep windows open as it was street level and noisy

Love the Ballard Inn
The Ballard was an awesome choice. right in the heart of Ballard. The staff was wonderful and even helped with airport transportation. the inn is lovely. The added bonus of free access to the health club next door was a big plus.

This place is in a great location for dining, and the property itself is unique and interesting. The room we stayed in was tiny, but had everything we needed. Share bathrooms aren't ideal, but didn't cause us any issues.

This is a lovely inn that is clean, nicely decorated, and in a great neighborhood. Other reviews note the shared bathroom which really was not an issue—never had to wait and bathrooms are very clean. Expedia shows photos of a gym and pool and these are listed amenities but this is the private gym across the street that is not included with the room!

Very clean, great staff and centrally located to shopping and restaurants and local sites/Locks/neighborhoods. Room was small but we had our own bath. Entry to our room was off a side street (so not from within the Inn) and people walking on the sidewalk could be heard from within the room - but - the Inn provided earplugs which cancelled the noise! Had a good nights sleep!

Disappointing stay
I was disappointed in the room/accommodations and what I paid for the room. The walls are thin (heard snoring all night long), and on a busy street that had a bar across the street...just not a good experience- I will never stay there again.

Perfect for a quick getaway
Beautiful hotel within walking distance to many great restaurants and shops. There was a Farmers Market right outside the front door where we got the most delicious breakfast sandwiches. A quick drive to the Ballard Locks and Discovery Park. It is an older hotel and a bit noisy, ear plugs provided but we did not use. Most rooms have shared bathroom facilities but they were sparkling clean and there was never a wait. Overall a great experience, I hope to stay again!

The rooms are comfortable but small. All table surfaces are mirrored, so using a mouse is difficult. Location is great and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Location was PERFECT for the purpose of visit but had no idea how close it was to so much I wanted to do. Restaurants in the area are amazing! Farmers Market right outside the door.
I wish I had the opportunity to stay in a room with a private bath. Will definitely stay here again with a private bath.

If you can tolerate a shared bathroom in the hallway and tiny & intensive space for sleep, this hotel might be okay regarding its location and level of cleanness. Oh, you also need to stand for a small ventilation cycle.

This is a pensione style hotel. You have to share a bathroom with other guests. Had I known I would never have reserved a room there. You need you put that in big type across the listing. It's dishonest not to.

Early 20th Century Charm with 21st Century Comfort
Fabulous location, excellent customer service, quaint and charming. Loved the history of the building and decor that gave a nod to its beginning but with all the comforts of the 21st century. Will definitely consider it when I visit again!

Gratulerer Med Dagen!
Since we weren't able to make it to Norway this year for the 17th of May celebration, we decided to take a weekend trip to Ballard to see the Nordic sites. This hotel was perfect for our brief weekend. It does get pretty noisy at night, however we were provided earplugs and after putting them in, we were completely fine. We will most likely stay here again.

Cute little place
I thought it was a cute little place. Loved the linens and bed was pretty comfortable. I shared a bathroom but I knew that would be the case so I was fine with it. It was in close proximity to my room and there seemed to be plenty of “powder” rooms. The floors were so squeaky that I was afraid I would wake everyone. Lol. My one disappointment was that there was no coffee!! I was expecting it and when I got up to have a cup and leave in the morning, there it was not there. 😒

Property was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. The shared bathroom / shower gave the feel of a hostel or dorm. I was in town for 4 nights attending a seminar as I am in the area about twice per year and I won't be back. You can hear everything in adjoining rooms and the gentleman next to mine yelled, cussed and screamed constantly. Usually at the tv, traffic outside, or just to himself. One night he turned up his tv full volume for a classic country infomercial and screamed the whole time. Another night he left the tv on full volume with baseball highlights...another night he just cussed and yelled. It seemed that he had been staying there for a while and there was no way management was not aware of his behavior...it seemed to be ignored. I am pretty tolerant and don't have much for expectations but I won't risk a stay like this again.

The only problem . No heat in the room . They provided a very small space heater . Not much good.
If you don’t mind sharing a bathroom . Its a nice place. Staff very professional..
Still think its overpriced . But its in the heart of trendy Ballard.

Love this hotel, unfortunately one of the other guests was up at 5am , roaming the halls, yelling into his phone about the police, shouting profanities etc., and since there was no one working there during the early morning hours, it went on, off and on throughout the entire morning. Otherwise I had a good experience.

Shared bathroom??? No. And amazingly they post photos of bathrooms (shared bathrooms) and you cannot click on anything that says shared bathroom on Expedia app. It just says "sh....." With an info dot that goes to photos of the room and a photo or two of the bathroom that you don't know is shared. (And my photo of a king bedroom was NOT the one in the photo. There was room for just the king bed and one nightstand and you had to squish around the bed...

Booked this because I needed a last-second place for a night in Ballard, and it was important I be in the neighborhood.
Rooms are pleasant and comfortable.
NOISE: it's right on a busy street. Even though the inn provided complementary earplugs (which, when I saw them, was kind of an UH-OH moment).... the noise levels were enough to bypass them. Cars.... loud people walking by (it was a Friday night). So if you're noise-sentitive, like I am, this might not be your place. Didn't sleep very well.
And honestly: $160 for a night with a SHARED bathroom?

Needs better ventilation
We stayed on a rainy September night, and it was unbearably hot in the room. There is a floor fan, and windows but the windows are literally on the ground floor of a very, very happening Friday night - tons of people, partying, etc. That part was okay but leaving the tall windows open with so many people was not a feeling of safety. The room was so hot, it was as if when we opened the door in the morning we could breathe again, similar to the feeling of holding your breath under water and then coming up. We both woke up with migraine headaches - which is very rare. Perhaps it was from an unventilated, hot room.

Cozy units in the heart of Ballard, everything (restaurants and shops) are literally steps away; discounted use of gym / spa next door is a great perk, famer's market on Sundays in front of the Inn is also super convenient, even though bathrooms are shared, I never had an issue finding an available one and housekeeping is around the clock keeping things tidy, no refrigerator in unit, but you can rent one for an extra fee or ask the front desk to hold onto your stuff in their staff refrigerator, overall happy with this price and very affordable.

No private bathroom- not specified in the ad. Deceivingly presented. Expedia said self parking...not parking fee. No AC or elevator... Ice and exercise, pool, parking, and Jacuzzi ....down the block or at other sites. Quaint, but DISAPPOINTING. I would have canceled if I could and gone to a traditional hotel.

Not for everyone but definitely for me.
Let’s start with the negatives, no air conditioning and shared bathroom. To be fair, the fan in the window did the job and the bathroom was always available and never smelled bad. Staff was responsive and friendly. Staying in Ballard was awesome. It’s was great to come back to the hotel after doing tourist stuff and strolling through Th neighborhood. Great food in Ballard. I don’t drive but the bus was not far. Will stay there my next trip to Seattle.

The listing wasn't clear on the fact that the suite had a shared bathroom. The suite faced the street and was loud. Not a good value for your money. Good location though. They charge the booking amount twice, had to call them to get my money back.

Other than the hotel not having ac everything was great. Looking forward to a fall or spring trip here with cooler weather so the ac situation doesn't factor in. The hotel supplied a fan but at 29C it was still pretty warm.

The property is in a great Ballard location, close to many boutique shops and pubs / taverns.
The only caveat is the potential for a shared washroom. My stay was just one night, leaving by 6am the next morning, so I had no issues, but it is something to consider when booking.

Was in town for the Seattle to Portland bike ride and was very appreciative of the staff and the great location. Glad that I was able to keep my bicycle in my room over night. When I do this ride again next year I will definitely consider staying here again.

NO PRIVATE BATH!
When we arrived at our room, we were shocked that there was NO private bathroom. Like in a small town in a third world country or in the Wild West you had to walk across the hallway in your PJs to go potty or wash up.There were two toilets and one washroom with shower (often occupied). And that for $ 215! Please, Hotels.com, don't recommend that hotel again!

They did a great job of looking out for your needs and providing ear plugs, fans, heaters, bath robes, coffee and tea and apples in the hall outside the room. They helped take our luggage to the room and had helpful information about the surrounding area. Loved it and would recommend it highly. The bathrooms were outside the room but it was safe and very clean. Customer service was outstanding!!

I didn’t read close enough that showers and bathrooms were shared. It’s listed on the listing. I just didn’t read i guess. Wish there was more than one shower on the first floor. Had to wait a while to get a turn. Otherwise experience was good.

Lovely place to stay, lots of amenities around (including Sunday farmers’ market and a lot of restaurants and very close to bus lines). Do t forget to take your room key when using the restrooms/shower rooms across the hall!

You REALLY need to put some door softeners on EVERY door including the showers. Bloody banging from 6am. We wouldn’t stay again for that reason alone.
