Friendly and Handy
Loved that our place was close to the beach , but far enough to avoid all the crowds. Right next to canal where you could watch runners and rowers. Easy walking distance to lots of restaurants and shopping. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Having chairs and towels available to take to beaches was a bonus.

Room was clean - I received an upgrade to an access bathroom with tub/shower but would have preferred a free-standing shower. One day my room was not cleaned even though I removed my privacy sign and informed the front desk at 11:00.
am to clean it. Staff was nice about the situation.
Lewers Street could use more lighting late at night.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Much chepaer and better than another hotel we stayed (Ramada Waikiki), but better service and room. They even gave us a complimentary wine bottle on arrival.

Military dont stay here
Coconut hotel is on military approved TLA list and so they are NOT supposed to charge their $30 amenity (junk) fee but I brought it to their attn twice and they dont care. When you add their $40 parking (mandatory valet) which is not reimbursible, and all the fees/taxes, this $130 room turns into a $300 a night room.

Small rooms. 1964 decor. Lumpy rugs. Needs updating. Bathroom 5 ft by 7 ft. Child size Toilet. If height over 66 inch too small. 1980 non-digial TV set for digital channels. 12.07.2023 no room service, no towels, bed made or coffee. 12.06.2023 no room coffee provided. No military parking discount.

Street noise was considerable. Price was unbeatable! Valet parking was always quick and courteous. All staff were pleasant, helpful, attentive.
24-hour coffee, tea, & hot chocolate was appreciated, and area was kept clean - entire lobby was always neat and clean. Popcorn available afternoons.

Perfect budget friendly stay!
I stood here for 3 nights and chose this hotel because the price was budget friendly and the reviews seemed to be positive. It was exactly what you would think it is. It is just a place you would need to sleep. The workers were friendly and helpful. They provide pool towels. They offer free popcorn every afternoon. They also had a water station so that you can refill your own water bottles. I actually got a free upgrade to a king bed with a front view! It was in a safe area but the windows were weird. They had two windows on the sides that were kind of like blinds so noise definitely got in from the very busy street out front. It didn’t bother me because I’m a heavy sleeper but if you’re a light sleeper then you might not like it. You also have to keep your AC very cold because otherwise it will be warm since it isn’t a central unit. The stay was fine other than the parking situation. If you choose to stay then it is worth paying for valet parking because otherwise if you get back too late it will take a long time to find a spot. It took me 30 minutes to find a spot that was two streets away. Other than that, I do recommend if budget friendly is your priority! It was only a $100 deposit fee. Have fun!

Helpful staff. I was able to check in early, however, the room still needed to be turned over for occupancy. I went to lunch band did some shopping. When I came back, my room was ready. It had a beautiful view of the hills and city view, and a great night scape. It has a efficiency kitchen too. All in all it is a great place to stay.

We were on 8th floor and still a lot of street noise and air conditioning noise . Resort fee although it is not a resort. It does have a small pool. A bit run down but acceptable. Walkable to beach and canal.

A great place in paradise!
It's a beautiful and peaceful place to stay for a couple of nights. The staff is amazingly helpful and the room is quite spacious with everything that I needed within walking distance.

My family and I enjoy our stay here. It is close to many things. My view could of been better we were basically looking into other peoples rooms. It was still nice to sit out on the balcony at night. It was nice and cool. I liked how it had a water fountain in the lobby area to refill your water bottles for free. The rooms and bed was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom could be bigger but it work so im okay. Overall great stay

The room was nice and clean. The hotel was very quaint and had a nice, clean, modern and peaceful vibe. We only stayed one night post a Hawaiian cruise and wish we had chosen this hotel for our pre-night stay as well. If we do another trip to Hawaii we will definitely stay here.

My wife and I stayed at the Coconut Waikiki Hotel when we visited Oahu last year and liked it enough to stay again this year. The location is great for Waikiki attractions, especially some of our favorite and nearby bars like Mai Tai Bar and House without a Key.
We were upgraded to a room with a king size bed, which we found to be spacious and clean. There was some noise from what sounded like laundry flushing, but it wasn't annoying. The bathroom had space to place towels and clean and dirt clothes. We liked the shampoo and soap dispensers in lieu of individually packaged items; much more sustainable. We took full advantage of the water machine in the lobby too. And the internet seemed to function suitably well.
Parking with the valet was very convenient but did cost $40/day. The hotel also authorized intermittent charges, which was confusing, though it was explained to us upon checkout that these authorizations were essentially temporary holds. It took a while to understand this, though, and their system is confusing.
Ultimately, though, the experience was positive, with no lingering issues that weren't clarified.

Excellent stay at Coconut Waikiki
We loved our stay at the Coconut! It is in a quiet part of Waikiki and we chose the mountain view which was very pretty. The room is just the right amount of retro funky and the bed was super comfortable. It was extremely quiet (it felt like we were the only people on our floor). Everything was very clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful. We were able to find street parking easily along the canal (you just need to circle around a bit and make sure you note the tow-away hours). The only thing that would have made it better was breakfast.

My stay was very good but the only knock and it’s more of a nitpick is that their tv’s remotes have no guide button so you have to wait a while to see what’s going to be on tv and it can get annoying waiting to see what’s going to be on to watch after you are relaxing in bed, otherwise it was really good!

Very clean room, staff was nice and helpful. Only minor issue is that the property is on the corner of Lewers St & Ala Wai Blvd. You need to turn right on to Ala Wai and immediately turn right again to go up the one lane driveway. Park and a valet will park your car.

Oahu - Short Stay
I arrived early and was able to get into my room without issue. The room was clean, and they had given me a free upgrade. There was a storm that passed by the island so it was very windy and rainy so I stayed in most of the first day. I ordered food and it was delivered to the front desk. They notified me immediately. We did have a bit of scare with the fire alarm going off at least 3 times. We evacuated 3 times before they found it was the wind setting off the sensor. That was a bit annoying but other than that, the room, service and valet service was excellent.

Parking is impossible in Waikiki, so have the heads up that it’s $40/day added to your stay for valet only parking. Valet is 24/7, but there was a time I found a food wrapper on the driver’s side floor when I went to pick my rental back up one of the days. I brought it up to the staff and they apologized, and I didn’t see any afterwards, but as always be careful with your stuff and check your rentals.
Otherwise, the staff was generally friendly every day. I have not checked my credit card yet for multiple extra charges like others claim has happened to them, but I will need to because there was even a day I couldn’t get in my room and I was told there was a “glitch” with my credit card and they would need it again.
The stay was affordable, and if you’re just looking for a halfway decent place to crash, this is it. The door to the bathroom was a sliding door, and it didn’t close. The curtains on the shower were ripped by the rings up top, the mini fridge smelled kind of bad, and the balcony sliding door had many issues closing properly - but again, it was affordable and overall clean.
For comfort concerns, the queen size seemed a little smaller than a traditional queen, but I was there by myself so it didn’t matter. It was also a pretty firm spring mattress, but I didn’t have any pain or anything from it (and I’m going on 35 this year). The AC unit is mounted to blow the AC on you all night. It was ok for me.
Overall, decent staff and I had a good stay.

The Coconut Waikiki Hotel and its staff were great. It's in a good location with quite a few options for shopping and dinning. The area around the hotel could be loud at times during the early morning hours, but that seemed to occur primarily during the weekends.

Very cute hotel! Beautiful view of the canal from our balcony. A nice spot to stay if you are wanting to spend time exploring the island during the day. Walkable distance from the strip, restaurants, and the Waikiki Beach. I wondered about the location and the safety due to price, but we felt safe even walking back at night.
The staff was great about combining some reservations when we decided to extend our stay.
The only downside was that there did not seem to be the free breakfast.

This is a delightful little hotel. Not fancy but clean, staff darling and has refrigerator and microwave in room. Nice little pool. A short walk to the beach right in Waikiki. For a budget friendly hotel I recommend this gem highly.

Stayed 3 nights, noted on previous review 4/21 no fee for parking, however Hotel now charges $40/day. Expedia still doesn't show a fee for parking. Room was very small, noisy due to 3 lane road nearby, no in room coffee. High costs with added resort fee and parking fee $250/night. Recommend using other hotels without road noise, small rooms and high costs. No help from Expedite or hotel supv with fees.

Bad: Resort Fee. Communal liquid soap dispenser shower bathroom, instead of new individual bottles or bars of soap. Outdoor balcony overrun with smell of pigeon. Left AC on overnight instead of opening window because of the smell. Bed was not the most comfortable (least comfortable of the 3 hotels I stayed in this trip).

Awesome location for the price
The best thing I can say about this place is you can’t beat the location for the price. We didn’t use our car. Beware Mountain view equals super busy road beneath you all night long. Could use a fresh coat of paint, but all of the basics were there. Seemed to be hopping with families mostly. Very nice desk staff.

Coconut Waikiki is one of the more affordable options on the island. However, if you have a vehicle, they are not dependable with accommodating your needs. I arrived very exhausted after a long day of traveling, and was forced to drive around for an hour to find parking because they said they ran out of parking spots. I returned after that hour, and a different concierge said they could find room for my car. This was around midnight, and they still charged me the full $40 fee for that day.
When comparing the cost of other accommodations in the city, be sure to factor in the additional $70 dollars Coconut Waikiki charges per day for parking & resort fees. This is in addition to the fees and taxes shown when you check out on Expedia. There may be other hotels that are a much better deal after considering this.
The hotel is clearly on the older side, and I found a long hair not on one of my bathroom towels, and a stain on one of the beach towels I was given. The service is hit or miss. Half the time, they were unpleasant or rude, and the other half of employees were kind and pleasant.
What I did like about the hotel was the free purified water dispenser they had available.
The hotel isn't the best, but it's decent for a trip that is spent mostly outside of the hotel and used only for sleeping.

Great price, quiet, & relaxing. I had an awesome view of the sunrise from my room over the mountains. It felt tucked away however only a 5-10 minutes from everything. The amenities were impressive I felt like I really got my moneys worth. I'm a solo traveler but I think a family would love this - cute little clean pool for the kids only saw 1 person in there the whole stay. Easy check in/out friendly staff. Would highly recommend!

It’s a nicely remodeled hotel with good free coffee and quick valet, the windows are original though and thin so it can be noisy. We were able to switch from a noisier room to quieter room in the back after we asked. I would stay here again but probably pay extra to upgrade to better room & view.

The staff at coconut Waikiki was amazing and helpful at all times. Everything looked good until the elevator took us to our level. The walls were dirty, the hallways were dark and a bit scary, our mini fridge smelled like someone spilled tequila all over and we even found a roach in our room. We’re not the ones to make a big deal of things and since we were mostly just sleeping there we ignored it. I just wish the building was better kept up with.

Staff are pleasant and friendly. Room needs updating badly- cabinet door under bar sink & bathroom sink don’t close, TV remote back had no cover with batteries falling out every time you touch it. One lamp’s light bulb on verge of falling out or base worn out. Everything needs to be updated. First night sofa bed wasnt made with a dirty sheet still on. Not enough towels and no linens for sofa bed- had to request twice and put sheets on ourselves. Staff are nice enough. Facility’s cleanliness ok. 24hr tea/coffee in lobby is very good. Location good. Pool is too small to think about. Overall stay ok. Hope they will update at least the furnitures/TV, and fresh paint jobs.

The rooms were dated but clean. Our door needed a good push to get it closed. There was a slow leak in the bathroom ceiling above the toilet, which was unpleasant. Free VIP parking was nice. The area to pull in is limited in front of the hotel.

The hotel needs some remodeling. I made a reservation in a Suite room and it had a slight humid, unpleasant smell, the curtains were ripped and the carpet looks dirty and also had areas ripped. However, the view from the balcony was great, the staff was fantastic, very close to alot of tourist attractions. Long walk to the beach though.
