Honestly one of the best places I have ever stayed at. The couple that operate the inn were SO warm and welcoming! Felt like staying at a friend’s house, but that friend has a REALLY nice house. Great location, best scrambled eggs ever, and great company for breakfast. Spacious rooms were definitely appreciated. Highly recommend.

Beautiful accommodations and warm, helpful owners! I was in town for a quilt show and was by myself for this trip. I am 60 and very cautious. I felt safe and comfortable leaving after dark to pick up dinner from a nearby restaurant. A full breakfast, provided by John (owner), was delicious! I look forward to staying here next year when I return for the annual quilt show.

It is in a great location with a beautiful view. I received a courtesy text from John, checking on our proposed arrival time. Was greeted at the door with "Hello Friend". Room was exceptional and very quiet. Couldn't have asked for anything better,

Autumn getaway
I wanted a short trip from home to see the fall leaves. An overnight trip to a bed and breakfast seemed perfect. The place was well kept. Our host, John, cooked up a great omlet. Unfortunately, the leaves did not cooperate. John told us that the best would be 4 more hours north which was too far from home for us. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

Clean and comfy
Very clean, comfortable bed. The only issue we ran into was upon our return to the hotel one night, there was no parking. We weren’t sure what to do as we’re not from the area and didn’t know if street parking was allowed. We finally saw some cars parked on the street about a block up and determined we’d be fine. This was around 11pm otherwise we’d have called the inn. Aside from that all was smooth.

Fantastic! Would stay here every time I go to Augusta! John, his wife and the staff are as friendly as can be. We’re not bougie so I’m sure it may not be for everyone but if you’re looking for a place to feel like home (and a historical one at that), then this is your place! Had late night drinks and snacks on the patio by the fountain that we bought at nearby grocery store and great conversation at breakfast in the morning. Pleasant stay!

WONDERFUL!!!
After a harrowing Airport Car Rental experience ( they ran out of cars so, along with many other people, we had to wait 4 hours for a car) we called the Inn proprietor to say that we would arrive much later than planned. We were sent instructions of how to get into our room etc. When we arrived and got into our room it was so welcoming and cosy it was just what we needed. The bed was so comfortable. We went to the house for breakfast and it was beautiful the whole place was amazing. John was a lovely host and made us lovely fresh coffee( I am a very fussy coffee drinker) this coffee was great. We also had a lovely breakfast. We will go back.

We highly recommend the Lookaway Inn. It has been beautifully maintained with all of its southern charm. It’s very convenient to Augusta National and Green Jackets Stadium. The Innkeeper was so friendly and had a wealth of knowledge about the area and helpful with any questions we had. We will definitely stay there again if in the area.

Refreshing, and So Beautiful!
Lookaway made for a perfect stop to rest after too many hours in the car travelling. We rested, then walked around the premises, enjoyed the national park, then toured the architecture of North Augusta as well as the Riverwalk on the Savannah River. Refreshing and so beautiful. THE Lookaway takes us back to the 1900s and our host and hostesses are so kind to share. Let's do this again!!

Our home away from home
This was our third stay at the Lookaway Inn which is not a hotel but an inn. We enjoy the homey atmosphere rather than stay at a hotel.
The staff are exceptionally nice and accommodating. For example they have shared tickets to the Morris Art museum and to a nearby evening ball game.
Its location is ideal for traveling into downtown Augusta or visiting sites in North Augusta and nearby areas such as Aiken.
A lovely breakfast with a fine assortment of foods/beverages is included and available to be eaten in the beautiful dining room in the main historic home with eggs and pancakes cooked to order.
To sum it up, this is our favorite place to stay when we visit north Augusta and we will continue to return. We highly recommend this inn to anyone looking for a nice, quiet, well situated and accomodating place to stay.

Lovely relaxing stay
Beautiful historic inn, very well and lovingly kept. Hosts were friendly and attentive. Grounds hold a lovely courtyard to sit, watch the breeze gently sway the loblolly pines while one listens to the fountain. Great bedding, nice hardwood floors, good hot shower. Look forward to returning!

Wonderful place to stay where hospitality is overflowing, everyone genuinely cares about your comfort and the quality of your stay. The only negative was that the thermostat was in the adjoining room, but I was given a key to that room. Otherwise the bed was comfortable and bathroom nice.

Nice place but problem with check in
The Inn itself is very nice however the check in was a real problem. I contacted to owner to let him know when we were arriving. Confirmed twice. He said he would give us instructions on where to find the key. We arrived and had no instructions. Could not reach him for almost an hour. Finally got in. After that everything was fine.

The host was welcoming upon arrival. My first impression was, wow! The mansion is beautiful and sits high above a little park. The downside is that a very busy road coming out of the city splits and goes on both sides of the property so traffic noise is a hindrance for sleeping. As far as my room, I appreciated the period furnishings. A new event building is going in next to the Inn. If I had stood on the balcony, I felt like I could reach out and touch the new building. So basically all of the rooms on that side of the inn no longer have a view or privacy if they want to use their balconies. Overall the room appeared clean. My only complaint is that when I Laid my head on the pillow it smelled like musty body oil. I looked inside the pillowcase, and there was no protector on the pillow itself! I found that rather surprising. The bed linens were low quality. Oddly, 3 rooms are controlled by one thermostat. I was in a room that did not have the thermostat. The host was gracious enough to let me set it where I thought I would want it all night. I had no way of knowing exactly how the room would feel during the night. I was much too warm, and did not fall asleep until the wee hours of the morning when the room finally cooled down. I would recommend this property but I think if I were to stay there again, I would question where my room would be located and whether or not, I would have control of my own AC unit. If I stay again, I would enjoy a room in the mansion.

If you want to stay in an awesome old Southern house, this is your place. There are rooms in the old house itself and also in an addition behind the property (which is connected to the house and where I stayed). The property is great and well kept and the interior decor is filled with antique furniture and decorations. The location is really neat, because it's next to another old and bigger Southern house/mansion and also in front of the Lookaway is a nice little park with a fountain. The owners are really nice, helpful, and available. It's also less than two miles from downtown Augusta, so that's good as well. I really have only good things to say about the inn and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Love the character of the rooms and the beautiful courtyard. Not a big fan of the stairs but they weren't a huge deterrent :) John, the host, was very accommodating and kept in contact with me through a unique and challenging travel situation.

Great Place to Stay
The best par of the stay was that they were very accommodating about an early check in. It has a great old world Southern feel to it.
The rooms behind the main house have no coffee machines, refrigerator that you are used to in a hotel.
It is quiet and well located. The hosts were very nice people.

Fantastic stay at the Lookout Inn
Had a wonderful overnight stay at the historic Lookout Inn. Room was loaded with comfy chairs, and the bed was very comfortable. Very clean. The host, John, was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was serve yourself, and John would have made eggs if we wanted. We will definitely stay there again. 10/10 stars!!

We had a wonderful stay. Charming area, beautiful grounds, large and clean room. John, the innkeeper, is personable and freely shared his knowledge of the local area for us tourists. Walked to dinner and ate local (southern) fare. As others have mentioned, one surprise of sorts is our room was not in the main house. Turned out to be okay, as the block of rooms is attached to the main grounds, the price was reasonable (good value), and (e.g.) breakfast is served in the meticulously maintained historic main house. Glad we found the Lookaway Inn, will definitely stay again if we’re in the area again.

I loved how quiet and beautiful it was. Easy check-in and out. The only thing is that I wish there was a fridge and microwave in the room because we would go eat amazing meals but we couldnt bring any leftovers back with us.

I highly recommend the Lookaway Inn. It was a special place. The bed was comfortable the pillows and sheets were soft and the views and the grounds were beautiful. The rooms were spacious, had high ceilings and lots of windows. We stayed nice and cool all night in mid August. What a wonderful experience.! We will be back.

Lookaway Inn is a beautiful property and we really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, bed was comfy, and breakfast was yummy! The only thing that threw us off a bit was the fact that the rooms weren’t actually in the house. They were in an “inn” built off the side of the house, so you weren’t actually staying in the house.

I never leave reviews but I had to for the Lookaway Inn! John and Mary were incredibly hospitable and the inn was so charming and beautiful. It’s going to be very difficult to stay in a regular hotel chain after our experience here! You won’t regret booking the Lookaway Inn!

My wife and I were recent overnight guests at the Lookaway Inn. Our room was clean and comfortable. The innkeeper, John Felak, insured that we felt at home. He gave wonderful advice for experiencing the local cuisine and even provided tickets to attend a minor baseball game that evening which featured the local minor league team. I don't suppose the tickets should be everyone's expectation, but we have no doubts about the warmth of hospitality. In fact, it makes us eager to visit again. Should you have the opportunity to stay at the Lookaway Inn, our recommendation is that take advantage it.

North Augusta visit with family
We stayed in Lookaway Inn while visiting family in North Augusta. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our visit. The Inn and its gardens are beautiful and the rooms are comfortable, quiet and beautifully decorated. The Inn is conveniently located. Breakfast was generous with cooked to order eggs every morning, served in the beautiful main dining room. Parking is free and plentiful.

Another lovely stay
This was a return visit for my husband and myself celebrating our wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday. We stayed four nights and as with our first stay, the room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast choices were varied and all very fresh and included delicious fare that John and Linda cooked for us (eggs and pancakes) our request. John, Mary, Linda and Jonathan are very gracious and friendly and made every attempt to make us feel totally at home. John generously offered us tickets for the minor league games during the week as well as tickets to visit the Morris Museum of Art. We recommend this lovely inn to everyone and we plan to return later in the year.

What a wonderful alternative to a corporate hotel. Well taken care of historical building, clean rooms, remodeled bathrooms with modern amenities. Friendly staff and a continental breakfast with eggs cooked to order. Highly recommended over any cookie cutter big brand hotel in the area!

Loved Lookaway Inn!
This is a beautiful antebellum styled in. John and Mary are wonderfully kind hosts. My daughter and I were in awe of the room size and decor. The view from the front entrance overlooks a lovely little park and beyond that you can see further down the hill to see the downtown area. We will definitely be back to this gem!
