2 nights in downtown
Good location near Chinatown, little Italy and SoHo. This is a no frills hotel. Safe, inexpensive and comfortable enough for a very tiny room. Overall just fine. Earplugs were appreciated!

Good Basic Option
Great basic room. Reasonable price. No frills. Room very small but clean. Helpful if you are able to shower, toilet, and shave in a phone booth. Front desk staff were awesome and very helpful. Great location at junction of China Town, Soho, Tribeca, and Chelsea.

Dorm room
This is a glorified dorm room, complete with mini-fridge, insufficient towels, and plywood furniture. They have "quiet hours." If you need to do it for the price, okay, but know it's more basic then basic.

Overall, the property was clean and updated, however, the rooms were very tight and challenging to get comfortable in. The noise from the street was also an issue. Pretty close to subway and Chinatown.

I will definitely be staying here again the next time I'm in NYC! I come here for work, but I'm at a small charity/non-profit so I'm mindful of cost. Compared with similarly priced hotels and Airbnbs, this place was BY FAR THE BEST I'VE STAYED IN NYC. The place was *actually clean* and the bathroom was in great condition (it's amazing how often showers have had disgusting clogged drains that leak water everywhere). I messed up with my credit card info when I checked in online so I had to do it on site but it was no problem! Communication via text to figure out what went wrong was answered promptly. There was a live person there when I showed up in the evening. The room was small but typical for NYC, and it even had a desk and a minifridge! Staff were courteous and helpful. I left my luggage there for 10 hours after checking out for only $5 each. I loved the location - a little quieter because not in Midtown but easy to hop on a subway and go everywhere. It was great to walk in Soho and Chinatown. I walked all the way to lower eastside. I'm bookmarking this place for future!!!

Arrived at the hotel and immediately booked another place .
Price was excessive and abusive in comparison to what is being offered .
The room was the size of the bed and bathroom size of airplane stall.
Sorry for the bad review but it was a big mistake on our part .

The room Was VERY small. We were kind of living on top of each other but luckily just used the hotel room for sleeping. The rest of the accommodations were a bit dated but fine considering it isn't a luxury hotel.
Great location, short walk to tons of shops and restaurants, we also walked across the bridge to Brooklyn!
Noteworthy details: Staff was incredibly friendly! They always said hello and asked how our day way what we had planned or how we liked things. They also left a nice selection of snacks in the lobby for guests to take for free.

Very low budget for the price. Air conditioner was loud, subway rumbled nearby, horrible pillows, sheets seemed old, no one is at the desk until around checkin. Unbranded soap and shampoo in containers. Staff was very nice but this place is way subpar.

I loved the room, large window, comfy bed, tons of pillows and towels, for a last min trip to NYC which I forgot everything. They provided what I needed including a hairdryer, snacks, coffee. All that was missing was a toothbrush. Everything was new and my little room had groovy decor.
The downside was street traffic on the corner of Lafeyette and Canal can be a grind starting around 4:30 am. But it was still remarkably restful. And the remote for the tv didn’t work, but I’m glad, I needed sleep. And the staff were so nice I’m sure they would’ve replaced it had I asked!

Was perfect for me and my man!!
I loved our little hotel! It is a boutique hotel, so if you are looking for a full service place to stay I would suggest looking elsewhere. There is self check in after 11pm, and the instructions were very easy to understand. I’ll admit though I don’t think it was worth the $250 I spent after fees for one night. But it was perfect for just me and my boyfriend, we were very cozy and had a great view. I would definitely stay here again when doing another overnight trip!! Great location too! We were close enough to the East Village and Little Italy was practically right around the corner! 😊

We'd come back!
The hotel was very conveniently located for us. The room was secure. (I loved using the door codes instead of worrying about losing / replacing room keys.) The suggested parking lot was right around the corner and was excellent as well. The staff was super friendly and check out was easy.

Good value in a good location
Stayed on a recent weekend. Price was lower than just about every other remaining option. Small boutique type of hotel, closer to apartment or AirBnb than a hotel. Checked in at front desk but keyless entry to room (405) as well as front door outside of business hours (10am-7pm?). Tiny room but was fine for my purposes. Comfy bed + pillows. Shower had odd set-up but great water pressure. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. This is in SoHo/near Chinatown and the Canal St subway stop is right around the corner and very convenient to get to Brooklyn, Grand Central (20 min total from leaving hotel to terminal?) and other points in Manhattan. I would stay here again.

We had a great stay here for two nights. Easy parking right around the corner (our SUV was $150 for 2 days). The hotel is small and runs off of code locks - which was great...no forgetting/losing a key. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Large bathroom which was surprising for NYC. So close to Little Italy and Chinatown. The subway is right outside the door. We slept great...with the AC on, you could not hear street noise. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a great option if you need an affordable, safe place to sleep. The room was very small - think dorm room - but the beds were comfortable and the bathroom/shower a good size. No lounging space in room though and limited space in main lobby. Upgrades needed to make the rooms feel a bit more upscale and a good cleaning of the walls in the room would go a long way. Staff were awesome and friendly. Location is excellent. Overall, good option for those on a budget needing a well located place to crash.

Super outdated and ran down. Room is tiny and hallways smell like smoke even though they have a strict smoking policy. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Would not recommend to a friend and would not be staying here again.

Front desk people were friendly and accommodating. Cleanliness of the 1st room was very disgusting. The mattress pad had a blood stain on it. I was upgraded to a bigger room. The hotel is centered around plenty of shopping and yummy restaurants.

Friendly stay in Tribeca
I feel very pleased to have booked a night here. I believe a longer stay would be a good one. Very communicative in lead-up to my arrival, great welcome, nice Tribeca location, comfortable room—I really appreciated the helpful, personalized attention. I can recommend JG Sohotel, and would like to stay there again!

Efficient and Just What I Needed
Great location in Chinatown with easy access to the subway and the neighborhoods I enjoy. The service was friendly and efficient and the room locking and building access very safe. My room was sufficiently sized for me and spot on clean and relatively quiet. Would definitely stay there again.

We had a great one night stay over weekend. Parked free in Brooklyn and ubered over. Pizza slice at Maneros, delish. Woke up early walked over Brooklyn Bridge nearby, lovely no crowds, walked park great views, grabbed breakfast at Dumbo area, then walked back via Manhattan bridge. Nice way to enjoy all the great architecture up close. Were able to return to hotel shower and check out, they'll hold your bags so you can continue to explore. Area is busy but safe, typical bustling dirty streets with characters. Love the Chinatown experience. Overall hotel was a great spot for us and staff was very friendly and accomodating, just not sure about that corn tea!

Not a bad option for the area. Price was great. Room was tiny. It was difficult to get around the bed. But it was clean and the bathroom was good. They were very nice. I would def consider staying here again.

This property was a great find. The room was not really big. But we had a really nice view outside from our window. The rain fall shower was nice. The staff were extremely friendly. Definitely would recommend this property.

Exploring the city!
This hotel is in a great location, right next to Chinatown, Little Italy, Tribeca, Soho and the village. The train is only a few steps away. It's in a safe area and the hotel insures your safety by giving each guest a code to the front entrance. We explored around and ate our way through the city then would return to our room to get some rest before the next adventure. Our room and bed were comfortable. Yes the room is small but the space worked out perfect for us. I had a desk, a place to hang my jackets and clothes and a mini fridge. The bathroom was a decent size too. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I would stay here again!

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Hotel and rooms are clean and you have an option of coffee in the lobby. Good price for the location. It is a bit loud from the street but you get earplugs and it is NY so it is expected. Would recommend it for staying during tourist visit.

Fantastic SOHOtel
A prime location near SOHO, and Chinatown and right off the Q train from Port Authority. The building has a beautiful mural out front and a bright and clean entrance. The checkin process was seamless and staff was very polite and helpful.
The rooms are small, but that’s the point. Still, everything you need is there. Shower, bed, tv and even a mini-fridge. Everything was clean and fresh. Room got plenty of natural light and the bed was very comfortable. Overall a wonderful stay and we will likely stay here many more times.

Good price, great staff, good location. Yes the room may be small but it's big enough presuming you don't have a ton of luggage. Free coffee and snacks downstairs made mornings easier. Staff werenoind and helpful and overall out of the 3 places I stayed in during my vacation to the northeast , this was the best one.

Great location, especially if you're using the subway to get around, and right on the edge of both Little Italy & Chinatown.
The area felt safe and not too crowded.
Plenty of good, local coffee shops nearby.
The bathroom is tiny, which could be a mobility issue for some people. Also, minimal storage space to put clothes away.
It was a quiet hotel, the bed was comfortable, I liked having a keypad for the door, and staff members were polite.

Small, but clean enough. Didn't like that there's a small window that has no curtain so it's bright early in the morning. Not terrible for one person for one night but wouldn't want to stay for days.

It’s a nice, basic, clean room. Pillows don’t stink, which is HUGE for me. Great room for the price. It’s just a room, not much room to do much but sleep and brush your teeth.

Nice location, convenient to subway, friendly at the desk. Good for very short stay because room was tiny. Two problems: occasionally there was a very bad smell just about everywhere and housekeeping never showed up for three days
