Convenient location right next to Ala Moana mall. Parking is manageable with a dedicated garage. Room quality was excellent and clean and checking in/out was effortless.

We stay at the Ala Moana Hotel approximately 20 days a year, convenient, good service, good restaurants and it attached to the mall.

The carpets were dingy and the hotel smelled musty. It also needs to be painted. The staff made up for it as they were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean the entire time we were there. One pet peeve we had was that the only outlet for the phone charger was on the small alarm clock and it took forever to charge. We only brought the charging cord which connected to the clock and had to buy the head/block to the cord to charge it directly with the electrical outlet. It is walking distance from the beach and connected to the Ala Moana mall which was very convenient for shopping and dinning. Another good thing was that they did not charge a resort fee. Would i stay there again? No sure to be honest. 50/50 chance

It's Decent
Decent mid-level spot. Room was pretty small but did have a sliding door that opened for fresh air. I had to work and there was no desk so that was inconvenient. Worst part was my toilet clogged. I called to the front desk and no one ever come to fix it. Great location.

Very nice people at check in desk, they understood my flight delay and let me keep my booking and had to extend my stay, unfortunately Expedia wouldn’t reimburse me for the first day. That is not the hotels part, I feel Expedia should’ve gave me a free night, but I am gonna be handling the complaints on the United side of the trip. Bring it was the airline who made the inconvenience of delaying my trip due to an ramp worker who failed to turn the heat on an aircraft sitting in -10 degree temperature in Sioux Falls and all the water and pipes froze on the airplane and took 8 hours to resolve.

Not Just Another Low Priced Hotel.com Hotel
We booked 1 night as a quick stopover before catching a flight the next day. The price was incredible so we didn't expect much. We had a housekeeping issue with our room which we could have lived with but I reported it to Housekeeping immediately as I did not want to be made responsible for the problem. Almost immediately after I hung up the phone, the Assitant Housekeeping Manager, Gavin Ono, was at our door to check out the situation. Gavin offered to move us to a different, nicer room but we didn't feel it was necessary. He remedied the current situation and then made us happy by offering breakfast, snacks and extending our check-out to match our airport departure time. I would stay there again, not based on how nice the place was but that the service displayed by the hotel was above and beyond. Thank you Gavin!!
Also, there's a great bar in the looby called Pint & Jigger with fantatic drinks and food but the best part, again, was the service. Kenny at the bar was incredible.

Bad check in
Checked in at midnight, long flight, and was told there was no electricity in the rooms because of a power outage. I understand there are only certain things a hotel can control, and power is not one. But the general attitude of the reception clerk was, "Gee, too bad. I can give you a glow stick." It was pitch black in the room without power, and there was no sympathy, no voucher for something else, like breakfast, etc.

Ala Moana Hotel is perfect for our needs. It is just outside of Waikiki, but walking distance to everything. We enjoy Ala Moana Beach Park, walks along the Ala Wai Canal and food options both in the hotel and in the neighboring community!

The hotel is strategically located next to Ala Moana Centre, the major shopping and transport hub in Hawaii. The room is large and comfortable, especially ocean view room. The availability of microwave make simple cooking possible and suitable for family travellers. The hotel has a good swimming pool, well equipped fitness centre which also has steam bath and Sauna available. There are also plenty of eateries, supermarkets nearby and hence food is not a problem at all. I will recommend the hotel to tourists who visit Hawaii.

We rented two rooms, one for our children.
The mattress in our room was worn out which made sleeping uncomfortable. We decided not to request a replacement considering we would be at the hotel for few days.
One of my children saw a cockroach on the wall. We raised the issue and all they did was to give as another room for my children. Not that I was expecting annything else’s but an apology or any form of remorse would have been nice.
Location is good. The hotel is 20 min walk from Waikiki, 5 min to a premium mall and 10 min from the beach.

The first thing we saw when we opened our room door was a big dead cockroach. Plus my husband had one crawl on him as we sat to watch tv. Going in or out of the elevator I felt like things were sticky. The parking garage smelled like urine. If you go outside you have homeless asking for things. The worst were all the drugged out people on the street corners by the hotel. We would never stay there again.

I liked that the property was close to the main shopping center. I also like the breakfast buffet and the staff is so friendly. The food was fantastic too. What I didn’t like was some of the fitness equipment was outdated. The sit up stationary bike was rusting and filthy. The machines needs to be cleaned and maintained or update the machine so it keeps up with the other hotels.

My only complaint is that it was kind of loud in my room. I can hear all the early morning truck traffic below. I was on the sixth floor, city facing side of the Kona tower.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Ala Moana shopping centre, which has a great supermarket and a lot of dining options.
The bed was very soft and comfortable!
The hotel has some great shops and the foyer had a nice vibe about it.

Good place to stay if you’re going shopping
We liked a convenient location, next to the Ala Moana Shopping Center. If I’ve known I was charged a daily parking fee of $37.50, I would have taken a taxi/Uber to the hotel and rented a cheap car rental when needed.
Bed sheets were not changed daily and unless we placed used towels on the floor, we didn’t get new towels (we were okay with that arrangement, to save water). The night before we checked out, there was a party held at a convention hall and we heard over-spill of drunk people talking loudly in nearby rooms late at night/early morning. We got a little sleep to catch our flight home (we had a red-eye at 11:30pm, so we went almost all day without much sleep). We also didn’t get coffee supplies in our room.
We came to Oahu to find out whether buying a condo there was for us. We’re glad to find out; NO!!

The room was small. I had my 10 year old daughter sleeping on the sofa bed. Mall is adjacent to the property but the beach is far for young kids to walk to. Great for people that want to party at Ala Moana bars since it’s walking distance. Not great for families.

unfriendly when requesting for 2 extra bath towels...not sure there is a limited amount that they carry in their cart. they didn't seem friendly when we asked. one housekeeper sort of raised his voice and asked us to write a note. hotel did not provide a pen and notepad like they used to, and we were on vacation, definitely did not carry any paper with us.

This is a great hotel for a quick getaway: the pool is great (the maitais are generous), the rooms are good, and the staff is always friendly. Also, the mall is right next door, so a quick bite or leisurely meal is just a quick walk.

Rooms are very aged and not kept up. May have been a premier hotel in it's hayday (50 yeas ago), but it's not in a safe area (even the hotel front desk said not to walk out at night). There are no services you expect from a premier hotel (no room service, no laundry/cleaning services). This is a middle of the road, 2-star hotel. Even had a fire alarm at 3:45 a.m. one morning. No one was there to meet us climbing down the stairs and dumped into a dark back alley. No one at the front desk to meet you to say if you could return to the rooms (apparently a false alarm). NOT HELPFUL at all. This hotel put a dark mark on what was supposed to be an amazing vacation. Look around, there's millions of other options.

Ants all over room and bathroom- needs pest treatment. Dozens of 6-12" long black hairs all over bathroom and bedding. Shower toiletry bottles empty. I could hear everything in the hallways and in nearby rooms. Will not stay again if I'm paying for it.

Wonderful hotel in a great location. We arrived a day early for our cruise and Ala Moana was the perfect hotel for us to stay in. Front desk clerk was very friendly and courteous. Rooms were nice and clean. Within waking distance of the mall. Great stay. The next day the shuttle took us to the port on time. Highly recommend this hotel.

My own home is cleaner
We stayed four nights. The best part of our stay was the breakfast staff and breakfast buffet. They were very friendly and made up for the reception staff that seemed unexcited.
When we got to our room, we found a glass in the bathroom with LIPSTICK on it. We also found a black ring under the rim of the toilet. My own home is is cleaner that what we found at this hotel.
Overall, it was a convenient stay. The pool area is nice, the cafe 140 breakfast is wonderful and full of warm kind staff, but the cleanliness of the room was disappointing.

Walking distance to the mall where there are numerous dining areas. A significant con is the breaking down of the elevator to the parking garage for several days. The rooms are comfortable but not all rooms have a balcony which is a big disappointment. Despite all this I would stay here again since it is a comfortable and convenient place to stay with friendly staff.

I liked that it was convenient to get to the beach nearby and that it was connected to the Ala Moana Centre. Good location. However parking sometimes is not available in underground lot even if you're a guest at the hotel. Depends what time you come back to get a spot.
