Wonderful Hotel
Aloft Harlem, was a wonderful place to stay. Each member of the team was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was clean, with a beautiful bar and perfect location. I will be back!

The accommodations were suitable for our limited stay. It got the job done without the bells and whistles. The area was super busy so each day there was a police/ambulance siren wake-up call.

Overall I gave this property 2 stars, because the staff was great & the location was only a block away from the subway so that was great. The first room we were assigned you could smell a strong smoking smell from the hallway, inside the room it was terrible, we had to ask for a room change. The new room’s bathroom was not great, there was mold in the shower. When we would get back to the room at night the lights would not work in the room, it would start working after clicking the light switch a few times. Good things about the property were the staff, how comfortable the bed was and the cleanliness from housekeeping. However the property condition was not so great.

Nice hotel with no extra conveniences
The hotel was okay. It wasn’t great but suited my needs quite well. Room was basic. Wish they had an included breakfast. Very comfortable bed. The night bar was a great featur for relaxing in the evening.

Hotel was not aware that I paid for breakfast, which is a major inconvenience. Hotels and make sure they are up-to-date with the reservations for customers and pay for breakfast in advance. I should not have had to look through 1 million emails to find my proof of paying for breakfast.

The entry was a bit confusing, It would be helpful if there were signs to point to check in and the elevator to get from street level to check in. Staff was fantastic I didn't get a super clean cozy feel from the check in area or the room. I didn't find anything dirty though in my room.

The staff was exceptional. They went above and beyond. However, the mattress cover in the first room I was given, was stained. I was issued a new room immediately.

I’d go back!
The staff were very friendly and efficient and the location of the hotel was great! Near shops, restaurants and a laundromat (in case of need).
Rooms were simple but clean and comfortable.

Not Aloft Quality
It was not a good experience for the statured that Aloft is supposed to provide. I paid alot of money to be in the area for my events. I am a comedian and wanted to be centrally located between Manhattan, Brooklyn and Harlem where my events where for the 3 days I was in New York. I did not enjoy my stay at the Aloft, I had to wait 45 min to finally receive an Iron / ironing board after calling, then going to front desk and still going to my room and waiting an additional 15 min. I was initially promised a steamer for my clothing. The room was not quality and I should not have had to request a better room, the room 220 should just be taken out of rotation of Aloft standard rooms. There was paint pealing in shower and in bathroom, holes on the wall throughout the room and water stains on the darkening blinds. Harlem is a great place of cultural events and legendary places, sad that the Aloft in Harlem doesn't quite meet up to the standard of other Aloft and the cultural history around them.

Location es quite good. Cleanness and condition of the hotel is bad: carpets in bedroom dirty and wasted, A/C old and noisy. The best asset of this hotel convenience and easiness to move around from Harlem to the rest of the city.

The hotel is in dire need of an update and improvements. In addition, the front desk staff makes an effort at trying to be welcoming by always smiling, however, they are severely lacking in their ability to resolve matters appropriately and responding to guests in a professional manner. Some additional training in hospitality and maintaining appositive image of the company they represent appears to be sorely needed at this Aloft. I had to be moved three times from October 18-19 due to a non-working television in one room and the poor conditions (gaps/holes in the walls, rusted furniture fixtures, odor, dirty rug, and totally deplorable appearance of a room that is supposed to be representative of the Marriott brand.

I had 2 rooms I needed and the first day one of them was not available yet. I was unable to use it at all the first night yet they still charged me for both nights. The AC was broken in the room I was in. There was maintenance being done all day in the hotel all over.

Not what I expected for the price…
The bed was super comfortable. Other than that I was disappointed. The hallways and room reeked of dog odor, the air conditioner made noise the entire time we were there, and the water never got hot.

This hotel is in the middle of it all! I cannot express how great of a location and hotel this was! The service was excellent; there was a party in the lobby, and the food was surprisingly good. The hotel elevator needs repairs but other than that I will DEFINITELY visit again.

Staff was so helpful, pleasant, and able to answer all my questions. Room was ready cool and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Location was great for parking next store to the hotel. Transportation was close as well. I definitely would stay here again.

Good value for the location. AC blows directly on you when you’re in bed. Loud folks drinking at the entrance every night. This is everything you need in a solid hotel but nothing more than that in this price range.

Clean, safe and friendly
Front desk incredibly helpful with directions, taking the subway and restaurant recommendations. Sequoia, the bartender. was smart, friendly and funny. She poured great drinks and engaged people in conversation. Room was clean and comfortable. Felt very safe. Would stay here again.

Loud area, was woken up two mornings in a row at 6am by loud music outside. Noisy guests. Dusty worn areas in the room, shower smelled like urine before we used it. Would not recommend.

I came to Harlem to visit an old friend. It’s close to the subway and there are good dining options around the area. I enjoyed the egg biscuit for breakfast as well.

Great location but could use an update
I love the location and energy of this place. It is not a full service hotel but it does have an excellent bar and social space with ready made food and drink in a refrigerated space for take out. The rooms are in serious need of an update but are mostly comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay. The staff was very nice. The room was clean and what you expect at a boutique hotel. The hotel was in a convenient location for us. It was walking distance to the Apollo theater and several good restaurants.

It was close to Columbia where my son is going to college (that was the only think I liked). The hotel was dirty, there was a zip tie underneath my sheets, the carpet and floor was dirty. The window is roughly 3 by 3 and is 5 foot high, it felt like a jail cell. The bathroom has a brick floor that's cold and dirty. To check in, I had to go down the stairs (something I figured out, because there was no sign) and then to Valet I was told to move my car ot a specific area so they can then valet it for $45 by going up the stairs and then going back down the stairs. There is no ice but in the lobby.

Very friendly staff. The carpet in the room is ready to be replaced, and although the room is very small, it was a comfortable and convenient location for what we needed.
One of the coolest cocktail bars right next door, Sugar Monk Lounge makes it a super spot. Also, Clay, an amazing farm to table restaurant one block away.

The room next to us - we were in 616 on Saturday 1/14-Monday, 1/16, had a small dog which barked all night (the 2nd night) We could not sleep at all. In the future I would make sure there was not a dog on the floor. Otherwise - we love this hotel.

Very dirty and unkept hotel. Bathroom toilet was dirty upon arrival and we were forced to switch rooms. Stairs going down into the hotel entrance were filthy and littered with hazardous salt, the outside portion in front of the lobby doors was filthy and the small elevator to go from the ground level down to the lobby is not only filthy but extremely slow. The carpet in the rooms and in the hallways has a brownish gray look due to being so dirty and there are no dressers in the rooms to put away clothes. Cleanliness is a huge problem here

Stayed here for a dinner party and had last minute overnight stay...the front staff was very nice and easy to check in..had a pool table a cool modern lobby the bar is open till 12a with music tv and nice bar tender.

Stay at “The Aloft in Harlem”

Great Location
The location is excellent for its proximity to African-American cultural heritage sites like the Apollo Theatre. There is no room service, no complimentary breakfast and and no ice machines on each floor.

Wanted it to be better than it was!!
I really wanted this place to be perfect because it's so close to my son's apartment!!! However, it was only okay.
The lock on my door didn't work, the outlet by the sink didn't work, none of the containers for shampoo, conditioner, soap, had anything in them! They told me they would send someone to fix it, but no one ever came. My room was clean but the hallway and elevator really needed vacuumed! The people at the desk were either super friendly or couldn't be bothered with you!
I felt like it was a little too expensive for these problems!

The staff create an exceptionally welcoming and accommodating environment. I stay in great hotels all over the country, and this experience far exceeded not only my expectations, but I would put the Harlem Aloft team up against any hotel staff - at ANY price point - in the country. Book it & ENJOY!

The room was clean. Beds were comfortable. There was no restaurant which was important because there weren't many breakfast places in the neighborhood. The water took a very long time to get warm and the water pressure was low. Towels were rough and no shampoo in our room.

One Night Stay
Stayed for one night. Used the valet parking. We were provided with a quiet room. Staff was great, very friendly. Ate at the Clay restaurant near by which was very good. Would stay here again if the opportunity presented itself.

Hotel staff was excellent in their greeting and service. Disappointed they still require showing of vaccination card in order to use the gym facility even though all restrictions have been lowered across the U.S. The condition of the room and over hotel was less than standard. The street level elevator that takes you to down to the lobby was not working. In the guest room, soiled spots and peeling of paint and wallpaper were visible and there was a mildew type of odor upon arrival that continued to linger.

The room was quite dirty. I dropped some water on the tile floor and wiped it with a towel and it was brown. Lots of dust in areas that looked like they hadn’t been wiped down in awhile. Corners in the bathroom were dirty.

The staff was fantastic. We arrived early. They stored our bags until the room was available. Friendly and courteous. Offered info for the neighborhood dining and activities. Room was clean and acceptable. Only downside was both nights we were there, persons (not employees) were outside smoking weed and we were approached at two different corners on three occasions to give cash.

Nice staff, but the room itself was not as expected. The sink was clogged, there were red stains over the bathroom door, the carpet felt pretty dirty. There was no hot water heater.

Aloft is a pleasant hotel in an area that had, for so long, lacked hotel spaces. It is centrally located so that you can enjoy Central Harlem and is in walking distance to busses and trains. Front desk personnel are friendly and welcoming.
