I found a used condom underneath my sheets. I had to pack my stuff up and go to another hotel. There's a haze of thick smoke in the whole building from people smoking in their rooms. Not a good choice!

Dirty and run down. Nothing about this hotel has been touched since the 90s. Staff was indifferent at best.
Zero security. There was a “doorman” during the day that couldn’t be bothered to look up from his phone. No doorman at night. We walked by the front desk attendants that had no idea who we were w/out being stopped. Once in the elevator you can access any floor w/out having to use a key card.
The only saving grace is the location. Spend $50 more and go to one of the many beautiful hotels in the same area.

The room was beautiful, very cleans and more modern than expected! I really loved our room. The building however was not up to par. It was essentially falling apart with many curtains put up to block holes in the walls or unpainted areas. I was afraid that it was going to be similar to a motel, but then the room turned out to be everything I hoped for and more so it was fine!

Toilet overflowed, made the lower level of the 2-story suite inhabitable at 11:30PM on Dec 23rd. Hotel was unable to accommodate another room, adamantly refused to contact another hotel on our behalf due to their failure to have adequate maintenance staff on the clock, refused to transport us to a sister hotel for accommodations and instead put me and my 5 children out on the street on Christmas Eve. Two weeks later they still have not refunded the stay nor have they contacted us. Absolutely horrid hotel staff.

Hotel was overbooked and I was unable to obtain a room. I ended up staying in my car. Absolutely unacceptable. Embarassed me in front of my date and was unable to find accommodation anywhere nearby. Do better, I expect a full refund

Missing Package, but Great Stay!
I had an overall great stay at City Club. A big shout out to Victoria, Hawa, and Abdul who made my stay comfortable, and like a little home in the city. These folks handled my questions with care and kindness. I would stay with City Club again because of these folks.
I had a unique situation with a misplaced package during my stay, but it was found and will be shipped to me. I had maintained calmness and curiosity. A gentleman at the front desk at one point was a bit stand offish, but maybe it was a busy day. Hotels!
Great location if you're visiting broadway/garment district. 15/20 minute walk to central park and Lincoln Center.
Breakfast was minimal but good for a light refreshment.

They where cockroach in the bathroom,big one and a small one, last night was smelling like cigarettes and we don’t smoke, air conditioning we don’t know if it was working, was kind of hot in the room, there was no microwave, and Litle fridge was full of stuff that if you use it you have to pay for it.no space to put our stuff on that mini fridge. Employees were nice.

This hotel was located in a wonderful area and I felt safe. It was a small hotel/lobby but the rooms were spacious. The staff was accommodating. the cost was reasonable for the Christmas season. I loved the extra bed by the window. One of the only hotels that will sleep 5 comfortably. The breakfast was nice. Lots of carbs but good if you have kids. . I wish there was different coffee, but only because I didn't care for the coffee machine.

This is a convenient located hotel, with walking distance to Time Square, Rockefeller Center, the Radio City, etc. Staff is very friendly and the room is clean.

My girls and I have stayed for the last 4 trips to New York at Christmas and have always loved this hotel. Location, staff and rooms have always been perfect. However, this year the room was not the cleanest. Mold on blind in bathroom, a mask on shelf above tv, and sheet slipped on bed and there was spots and hair. Just not what we were used to. Room faced 44th street and view was a lot of trash against privacy fence. Just disappointed.

The hotel overall is very good. The person who did the check in was very unprofessional, she saw that we were hispanic and she assume that we have no money to pay and stay in the facilities. From the very beginning she was saying that our reservation was canceled, when it wasn't. It was very disappointing the way she treated us 😔

From the survey reception assistant to the filthy elevator and smelly room the place is a disaster.
Like a time warp from the 70’s. Avoid unless you’re desperate - the images are not reflective of the hotel!!

Very disappointed
This was not our first trip to NY. We've spent over $2000 for better stay but it was not worth it all. Front doors was no secure safety so that anyone can just walk in. Door was not properly opening. Room floor surface was not even flat. Few spot were flatted that we’ve fallen few times. Toilet was not even secure that whenever you are sitting down it would wobble. It just was not as described in the article. No accommodation was made. Very disappointing.

Conveniently close to Times Square. Stay was ok except on the last day, the front desk called my room and asked if they could send up 'Sam' - my young daughter who was asleep answered the phone and said sure - next thing a man was banging on my door (9am) to be let in...was a scary moment. The housekeeping started banging on the door at 10:30am - had to remind them I was checking out today and would be out by noon - then the front desk called again at 11;30am to remind me to check out at noon - it was a stressful morning to say the least.

Front desk staff was extremely rude, there was a shift change and one the employees walking in reeked like marijuana. The rooms were outdated, wall paper was falling off, and the shower had a dingy clear curtain. Would never recommend this place to anyone looking for a good experience. They didn’t allow us to bring in our daughter’s small scooter and proceeded to tell us that they had a sign last week but it wasn’t anywhere visible nor stated on their website policy. The front desk receptionist also made racial comments when referring to me. Her name was Victoria and I will definitely appreciate someone from corporate to contact me.

This hotel could be the gem it used to be, but it needs major renovations. The electrical outlets are so old the plug falls out of the wall. I had to tape them in to charge my phone. The walls and furniture are scuffed, elevator is shabby, etc etc.

Have stayed many nights and this hotel. In the past it was my go-to for a night or two in the city. Something drastic has happened to reduce it to the level of tawdry hostel. Covid perhaps. Now ownership? The room smelled bad and there were now bathrobes. The restaurant is closed and the ‘light’ breakfast on offer was sub-par.

The room is dated. I booked a queen size bed, but my room has a full size bed with a very worn mattress. Staff stayed this is their definition of a queen.

The place was rated a 4.2 / 5 but that was a false advertisement. It should be rated a 3 star on the lower end. The building showed signs of aging, 1 of the 2 elevators was not functioning. The concierge was out right rude and when requested for water in the dinning area, he complained and at first refused to provide portable water. If you are looking for a place close by Time Sqaure, and don't mind an aging building this is the place for you.

Not a great stay . . .
My room was less than good. Looked behind my roll up shade to see a brick wall. There were stick down tiles next to real tiles in the bathroom. Nice big shower and water pressure. Ran the air as the room was hot and smelt old carpet smell all night long so did not sleep well. Pillows were nice but the bed not so much. Breakfast had no form of eggs and the fruit available was a cup of cut up peaches and unripe pineapple. The location was convenient but would not stay here again do to my room experience. Also on the Hotels.com site it say there is a gym and has a picture. I assumed like every other property I book if there is a picture that it is on site. It was not on property, but was not three blocks away and was charged $25 to go to it. You have to scroll down on the Hotels.com site to "see more" to see the gym is not at the hotel and then you have to click on a link to expand the details to to see there is a $25 charge. If my total bill after taxes/fees was $300 due to the location/NYC then maybe, but almost $400 no.

This was a nice hotel tucked in Midtown, close enough to my office but away from the noise. The room was spacious, especially for a NYC hotel room, and the bathroom was large. My one gripe is that they did not have a coffee maker in the room.

The "petite" room was just that -- very small. But it was clean and did manage to fit in the basics, including a small fridge. Tho i asked for a quiet room, the sound of the elevator kept us up half the night. The porter and breakfast staff were very attentive. Not happy about the $25 facility fee, esp for a 1-night stay.

Very Old renovation, e.g. floor in bathroom was wobbly which resulted in wobbly toilet bowl.
Needs deep cleaning: daily housekeeping is good, but noticeably stained and used furniture (cushions, et.)
Single glass - thin windows with 0 soundproofing. We could hear Times square and street sounds on 6 floor.
Non-existent internet - impossible to work. No late check-out option.

The bathroom had a lot of broken tiles. It could easily cut someone's foot. They missed to clean the room on the first morning. When we got back to the room in the evening tired we were surprised that it wasn't cleaned and there were no new towels, all beds were a mess.

This was a perfect spot to stay for a couple of nights. The rooms are a little outdated, but not bad. The room was a perfect size for me. The bathrooms are huge. Easy walk to Rockefeller center. The staff is beyond helpful and friendly.

Dirty and old- NOT WORTH THE MONEY
This hotel desperately needs to be cleaned up. It is amazing that they could charge $490 and have it so decrepit. The walls and ceiling had water stains all over them. There were open mice size holes in ceiling and floorboards. The rugs and sofa had all types of stains that I am not sure what they were. The wooden furniture was completely chipped up with chunks missing. Do not stay here until they clean it up as it seems unsanitary

I left the property at 2:15am after 20 minutes, and requested a full refund. I got room #608 and the pictures online are very misleading. The room had stains all over the headboard, the chair, the walls has stripping wall paper, the room and bathroom was not properly cleaned. I was very uncomfortable and called and booked another hotel immediately. I’m not a very picky person and was only getting somewhere for my layover but this was way below acceptable. Very disappointing

Unfortunately this hotel was not at all what I expected. It was definitely overpriced for what it offered. Not even a mini fridge in the room or anything on site to purchase a snack or bottle of water. However, a resort fee” was still charged because they have a gym and serve free coffee in the morning. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is great.

Great cost-effective option
We stayed here one night before cruising out of NYC. The hotel is in a great location and the room is exactly as described: small, clean, and affordable. We would absolutely stay here again!

Cute Hotel, Prime Location
Cute hotel in a good location. Rooms were small, but sufficient for staying in Manhattan. Loved the bathroom! Glass cups and wine glasses were a nice touch to an affordable space. At one point toward the end of my stay the hotel cleaaning staff entered my room while I was packing! I guess they thought I had already checked out?

I was fine with the rooms being dated, as I was reminded that check-in “it’s a historic building”. I was constantly reminded by the staff that it’s old. Again, I’m fine with that. I enjoyed looking up the history of the building online.
However, I was not fine with the cobwebs in the corner of the room. Stains on the side table. Holes going to God only knows where. And old building is one thing, a dirty room is another thing..

This hotel is disgusting and dirty and should never be considered a 4 star. The beds are old, smell and uncomfortable. My room had carpet that that was full of other people’s hair because it was never vacuumed, nevermind professionally cleaned. I changed my flight and left a day early because that’s how bad this hotel was and they would t even provide me any type of refund! ! This hotel is awful and disgusting! Definitely not a 4 star- not even a 2 star!
