I love the hotel. It was very connivence to get shuttle bus between Amtrak station, visitor center and the hotel. I would recommend if you travel by Amtrak to get here. The shuttle bus is free of charge. The hotel will give you a free ticket to visit Colonial Williamsburg.

Lovely for families
This was our first time staying at Woodlands as my husband and I have been "trying out" the accommodations at Colonial Williamsburg. This is definitely a family and dog friendly hotel. One small issue for us was the location from Duke of Gloucester. The Woodlands is conveniently located next to the Visitor's Center, but is about a 10 minute walk from the historic sites. This isnt necessarily bad unless you like to enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants. The new shuttle schedule doesn’t run as late as it used to, so we ended up driving out for dinner. We also weren't too impressed with the breakfast, so we ended up grabbing breakfast elsewhere. The king suite was lovely as we enjoyed having a separate living area from the bedroom. Overall it was a nice stay, but we will probably go back to The Williamsburg Lodge or the Colonial Houses.

Great location and beautiful lobby. Quick and easy access to the Visitors Center. One draw for us was that breakfast was included with the cost of the room. Although convenient, the breakfast was mostly prepackaged and the serve-yourself layout was not well-organized. The lobby, hallways, and dining area were always full of young children who seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. I would recommend this hotel for families traveling with children, but I wouldn’t recommend it for adults looking for a relaxing or romantic getaway.

Because cell service is poor in the hotel, having good wifi is important. Your WiFi was spotty and never strong.
First floor room should have privacy sheers on windows so you can open the curtains for light.

Good hotel but bad WiFi
Mostly good as a hotel experience, but the Wifi was TERRIBLE. This is reason enough not to go. Also, there is a “resort fee” so your breakfast isn’t really free.

Worth every penny
We loved the resort it was very festive for the holiday season! The kids had a blast and we couldnt get them to leave the water park. We really enjoyed that you can get there early and use the waterpark even if your room isn’t ready and when you check out you can still use the water park for that day! We did the cabin theme room which was nice and it had a fireplace which made it super cozy.

Our room was small but very comfortable, and accommodated our family of four very well. Everything was clean and in good condition. The only thing that would have made it a bit better, would have been queen beds instead of the doubles, but our stay there was extremely pleasant. The employees that we had contact with at the desk were always very accommodating and kind.

Great location and easy to get to with plenty of parking. Very convenient to walk to the historic area. The lobby was lovely and cozy with the Christmas tree and fireplace lit and Santa came for a visit in the morning.

Better than it looks, a little expensive.
The Woodlands is somewhat dated, but, it was clean and I have no complaints. The staff was helpful and friendly. The housekeeping crew was perched everywhere, ready for every need.
The hotel is next to the Visitor Center and a quarter mile walk to Colonial Williamsburg if you don’t want to wait for the bus. The breakfast was decent.

This was our first time staying at this property and it was great! The lobby itself makes you feel like you are somewhere special. Front desk staff was amazing. The beds (and pillows!) are super comfortable. Loved the walkway to the downtown area. Breakfast was plentiful and had lots of options. Parking was easy. The only minor drawback was the long walk to the room from the lobby area. The front desk associate was helpful in highlighting the path to the room on a printed map. Hope to come back again soon!

No restaurant near by. Huzzahs was closed. We would have been happy even with a limited Huzzahs menu to choose from over having to load everyone up and drive somewhere.

Although the decor is a bit dated, the hotel was clean and comfortable and suited our needs for visiting during the Grand Illumination. The staff was friendly and helpful. Walking distance to the historic area and pet friendly was a plus!

I honestly don't think that you can find a better location in Williamsburg. There is a shuttle, but we preferred to walk beautiful 1/2 mile long trail. The hotel was also very clean, breakfast was good, and staff were very friendly.

This is our second time staying at this property. The first was a year ago in July. Each stay was quite enjoyable. This time we got accommodations for three of us. Our third person didn’t end up traveling with us so we had a one bedroom with a separate sitting area. Each room had a tv.

It's a considered a resourt, although there are no 'reasort' features in the winter, but there is still a fee. The hotel is very dated. Breakfast is good but gets very crowded, as it is a large hotel. Good option to have a shuttle to downtown Williamsburg.

Staff was outstanding, helpful in all things. Very patient with visitors. Breakfast was pretty good for a continental one. Housekeeping was awesome, not worrisome. Rooms were outstanding, only one small thing. Maybe put a small stool or chair in the bathroom for when you get out to dry yourself. Other than that ,water was hot, great pressure, and bathroom was clean, no mold or odors. Just an outstanding place all around. My wife and i will definitely be coming back.

In the evening when we checked in, Morgan was very kind and helpful at check-in and gave us a lot of helpful information for checking in and the property. The front desk employees in the morning morning of the 25th were also just as great and so helpful! The rooms were clean and had a lot of space. Beds could have been a little bigger. Breakfast had a great selection of choices was super excited to see a few gluten free choices. We will definitely be back!

Disappointing
Staff was friendly, but gave us a room as far away from lobby as possible. Room was as advertised and staff, even when met in the hall, greeted us.
Toilet stopped up twice, greatly lessening our comfort. Bathroom fixtures are from the last century. Also there was a resort fee not listed in Hotel.Com’s pricing. Won’t stay here again.

Great place to stay!
Very clean room that was dog friendly! All staff were very friendly. Always saying hello and had a smile on their faces. The Breakfast was outstanding! Best fruit I have ever had at a hotel. Strawberries!
If you are visiting Colonial Williamsburg it is so convenient!

The staff were helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was extensive for a “continental.” We requested adjoining rooms, which we received. And we were happy the pool was open even late in the season since we had unusually warm weather. It’s easy to walk to the historic town or take the shuttle.

Beautiful Property Tucked Away in the Woods
Overall a pleasant place to stay. Had some cold spots in the room. The refrigerator was a bit noisy making ticking noises at night. Would have been good to have a microwave. I loved the wallpaper it gave a nice vintage atmosphere.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites. It was just a short walk to the Visitors Center and the entrance to Colonial Williamsburg. The front desk was very helpful and the room was very comfortable. The free breakfast was very nice with some different every day.

The hotel was very nice, enjoyed my stay. The only issue was that their mattress need to be upgraded, old spring bed. But that was the same across other reviews posted. They have cute mini golf area that is open 24 7 which was fun, we played at midnight, my family really enjoyed this feature. I will return in the future.

Staff and location are great. Hotel itself needs an upgrade. Room fridge did not work, got a replacement and that one barely did. Breakfast is continental and poor. Both ice machines on our floor didn’t work and no signs indicating they were broken. WiFi is awful. For the price they charge this needs to be better. Giving two stars rather than 1 b/c staff was all friendly and doing their best.

Say "NO" to "Resort," "early check-in" &more fees.
While the room and service was ok, the extra fees are opportunistic at best. This hotel's check-in is at 4 pm! It's extra $ to check-in early. There is also a "resort fee". (BTW this is not a resort.) No bottle water in your room. That's $12 for 2. Note to customer service and marketing departments: "Stop it!" Be more customer centric. And just because other hotels do it, doesn't make it a good idea.

Wonderful Visit
I stayed for 2 nights because my daughter and I were going to Busch Gardens. We were less than 10 min from the park- perfect location- traffic was fine. The next day we took the shuttle to Merchants Square- spent all day there and returned by shuttle. Flawless! Oh and I need to mention- catching the shuttle was walking distance as well. We are a little neurotic about cleanliness…. We always check for bed bugs. Our rooms were very clean, well stocked and NO BED BUGS!!

This property is in a nice quiet location, and when I stayed here 15 years ago I thought that it was a very nice hotel. Now it is terribly dated. The lighting in the room was dingy, I found hair in the tub, the light above the vanity flickered like something out of a horror film. The worst thing was the heating/cooling unit in the room. It was SO loud that it sounded like a vacuum running while I was trying to sleep and that was with the fan on LOW and me wearing earplugs. It doesn't even have a thermostat just a dial from hot to cold. We actually skipped the continental breakfast after taking a look around because it was pretty basic and didn't look appealing. Due to the nice location of this hotel and the fact that it is a conference center I would think that they would want to update it sometime in this century. We won't be staying there again.

This was an amazing place to stay in Williamsburg! Our room was more like a suite with a large front seating area and separate bedroom. This made for a very comfortable place to return to and relax after a full day of sightseeing. The only negative is that there isn't any restaurant or other dining on the property, but the easy walk and free bus service to Colonial Williamsburg and Market Square makes it a non-issue.

The only problem with this hotel was that cellphone coverage is very SPOTTY!!-hard to place or receive phone calls!!—also wifi only works sporadically!!—otherwise this hotel is good!!—the employees are pleasant to deal with!!

Everything from the lobby to the room was clean and showed no signs of dirt. The wallpaper was falling off in our room in a few spots but not a big deal. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nothing special but typical of most continental breakfast. I would stay here again with my family.

We enjoyed the whole experience.
Property was in walking distance of our primary objective…Colonial Williamsburg. Other attractions were within a reasonable distance (Busch Gardens and Water Country USA).
Restaurants galore and they delivered to the resort.
Resort was well managed and cleaned. Daily activities were provided as well as breakfast. Staff was courteous and respectful and friendly.
Would return.

The hotel has many fine features, but the mattresses are not among them. Very hard. The room had a musty smell and in general the hotel was not so clean despite staff doing lots of cleaning. Guess its just old. The free breakfast was the worst I have ever had. The good points are its convenient location (next door to the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor center); 25% discount on tickets and price. Rooms are very reasonable for the area.

We liked the room itself. We had a suite and appreciated the extra space and the extra sink. The bed was too firm and it squeaked. Our biggest complaint was the breakfast. Most hotels offer some kind of fresh omelet and always an omelet option without meat and often an option of egg whites. You had bacon or sausage in the eggs. The hard boiled eggs were impossible to peel. There was only one flavor choice for yogurt. We did appreciate that you offered fresh cut fruit. Thank you for that. The pool was quite cold. We got locked out of our room on the 4th day because the key had expired.

Overall nice place in a great location.
Overall we thought the facilities were nice and the staff was friendly. The only issue we had was the wifi in our room on the first floor was barely usable. Another person who was with us on the second floor said theirs was fine so it is not a problem everywhere but be aware. The cell phone service there is almost non existent with T-Mobile and AT&T. That makes the inconsistent wifi issue bigger.

Put us in a unit on far end of building on other side of building that had one way in and out and was 10 minute walk through the building to get to room. Room was clean. Most of the ice machines drink machines and snack machines were unplugged and did not work. Easy access to colonial williamsburg.

I booked for 3 adults and 2 kids, they put us on a 2 bed, no extra bed.
Room was really old,smelly and dark.
AC was at 62 When we came in.
Probably my fault not complain. Never again

We loved how many family activities were organized on-site. It's a wonderful place to stay with little kids because there is so much to do. The staff was very helpful and friendly - particularly Emma and Coffee! It's also a lovely walk into colonial Williamsburg.

We enjoyed the quiet surroundings. It was a pleasant stay. We went shopping and out to eat .several times
I really have nothing bad to say about our stay. We will go again. next year when the pool opens for the season. I use a cane so I didn't do lot of walking the property but my husband did as we have a little dog. It was nice that they are a pet friendly resort. Lots to do if you have kids.

Charming place to stay

Very Disappointed
I’m very disappointed in the stay at Woodlands Hotel and Suites. I submitted my perspective directly to them on Sunday August 13, 2023 in the afternoon. I’m not trying to tell you not to stay there, only this was our most recent experience compared to our multiple stays there in prior years. Make your own decision about your potential stay there. Should there may it be a pleasant one and a positively rememberable one.
I submitted a direct review of our experience at the Woodlands Hotel and Suites. While I indicated that I was going to wait until the end of the business day of Tuesday August 15 I decided that I would provide the entire business week before I provided my review. As of 8am Saturday August 19, 2023 a response has not been received. Should I receive a response from them before too much longer I am open to editing this review.
When we first stayed there a few years ago in August for our anniversary we were very impressed with everything about the hotel. The breakfast selection was massive and we were going back in September as a family. We came to understand that some of the extras were only available during the Memorial Day and Labor Day timeframe.
A couple of things about the breakfast were disappointing. Hearing a kitchen staff member tell another guest that they didn’t open until 7 o’clock when the person’s phone indicated that it was 7 o’clock. The selection of items for the breakfast was less than what I typically experience and most other hotels.

The cleanliness, safety, and staff friendliness of the property was exceptional. My room and the pool were great. The only reason I scored property conditions and facilities at a 3 instead of a 5 was that there were no dining options without leaving the property. However, the onsite breakfast was very good.

The property is in a great location. It is close to the amusement parks, 10 mins drive to walmart for convenient shopping and the outlets along with various food options. It was great to have my pup with me and the room was very clean and the housekeepera came daily. The property had something for families to do everyday from 4 to 9pm such as movie night, glow in the dark golf, magic shows, volley ball etc. What i did not like was that there were 2 emergencies during my 4 day 3 night stay. One at 5:45 in the morning and another one the very next day at 8:45 at night. With 3 little ones and a dog that was tough. Wehave to evacuate the.building during the formentioned times and stand outside for 20 minutes to get an all clear. How coincidental is it that during my stay, there were 2 emergencies or is this a regular occurrence? It was strange and very inconvenient as i have never experienced an emergency at any location that i have every stayed at until now. Other than that, the hotel was a good one.
