Quiet, centrally located hotel
This hotel is located near shopping, the Loyola Museum of Art which has some very special exhibits, and about a $12 Uber ride to the field museum and shed aquarium. Beds are a little soft for me and pillows a little overstuffed but for the price it’s not terrible. Skip the overpriced breakfast and hit up the less overpriced cafe in the lobby. I will say, it’s very quiet. We heard no street noise from the 11th floor room. Oh, and all rooms have bathtubs which is nice.

I was attacked bu homeless during the stay and due to this I could not I was scared and would not go out.I had to leave early.Hotel does not have its own parking area and Valet parking has another charge tı add to the renting room.İt is not acceptable for me.Wifi is extra charge and with all these my expense was tripled.K definitely not recommend this hotel.

Perfect Location & Great Service
Perfect location, footsteps away from Michigan Avenue. Great staff! After checking out, we realized we left a tech item behind in the room and it was immediately sent to lost and found and they sent FedEx for us. Wonderful service, clean and nice sized rooms. Highly recommend!

I generally enjoyed my stay at the Westin. My only complaint is that I was not able to effectively use the TV. Everyday I would come home a try an watch a program in the evening and always got halfway through and I receive a message that my viewing of the youtube video was not permitted despite watching many ads. Apparently, bc Westin is for profit, it is not possible to watch programming that is free for me to watch at home. I wish I had known that.

I want to start by saying that this is the fourth time I have stayed at this Westin and in the past few years, I have seen a recent sharp and definitive decline in the hotel service, amenities and condition.
Greeting-I had a good check-in experience. She was exceptionally friendly and courteous. But that was to me. She was not to some folks waiting in line and to a gentleman who had errantly left his bag behind the counter. She was annoyed. While I had VIP treatment, it was not equitable to others and was duly noted. She was always friendly to me in the lobby after the check-in but I saw her become very cold to others often within seconds of our interaction.
This was coupled with noticing similar behaviors with other desk staff. The first instinct they have is that you are going to be difficult and then they are disarmed and become friendly. But the next in line gets a cold shoulder until the staff member figured they met the vibe check. Inequitable treatment was common. I really noticed it on Monday afternoon as I worked in the lobby and saw several interactions. This was a bit alarming.
The final issue I want to point out is the ridiculous destination fee. Since this isn’t a resort, I was perplexed. It felt like being forced to use their restaurant. That was a problem because I had a HORRIBLE meal on Sunday night with poor service. On top of that, I tried to get something from the coffee counter and was rudely pushed away. They closed at 3:00 pm. This was egregious.

Front desk Karen was energetic and super friendly at check in. We had a great time at the bar with our server/bartender who was quick and accommodated us with our every need. The rooms were very small in this location, no bathroom fan, but had plenty of convenient outlets/Ethernet access, towels, accessories (not a fan of the white tea lotion & bath gel smell - smelled like men’s cologne to me). Loved that downstairs had a coffee shop and concierge service. A bellman stored our bags in closet at check out which was nice, but he was the only one with a key to the closet so we had to wait for someone else to let us into closet since bellman went to lunch. Conveniently located with shopping, restaurants and taxis within walking distance. Staff attitudes differed depending on who worked. A couple front desk people moved slow, never smiled or acknowledged guests standing around which was disappointing considering it’s a guest oriented Westin. Overall I enjoyed our stay, but this Westin does compare to others we’ve stayed at.

Great location. Westin properties are consistent in amenities. Guest services were on point. This is an older property as to be expected not as quiet, hall noise. I will add both nights big parties were happening in the restaurant. We had an early flight out and opted for The breakfast buffet. It was mediocre-even with the credit it is overpriced for the quality and most food was lukewarm.

Honestly, we couldn’t be happier with our stay here for an extended weekend. The service was excellent, the room spacious, bed comfortable. Just impeccable service. The Garrett’s popcorn everyday is a major bonus.

Destination Fee was a surprise
A warm welcome, a well-appointed room, daily Garrett's popcorn, Starbucks on site, and a prime location for shopping make this Westin an excellent choice for places to stay along Miracle Mile! We didn't expect to pay a destination fee, but the benefits far outweighed the additional expense.

Staff were very friendly and helpful also a good location. The only minor issue was the room service wait time. It was supposed to be ASAP (1/2 hour) wait time but it was almost an hour. Had they told me it was going to take that long it would have been fine and I would have grabbed a coffee somewhere on the way to my appointment instead of not having time to eat the $60.00 breakfast.

We had an excellent stay at the Westin Michigan Ave
The rooms were large and were clean.
We had a great view of the lake from our 27th floor room. The elevators were fast and we rarely had to wait. The onsite restaurant was good and there is a Starbucks in the lobby. Location of hotel is excellent I would highly recommend this hotel.

I ran the Chicago marathon. They had so many extras (leg boots, medal engraving). There was even a cheer team on the course! The staff was amazing. Thank you for adding to my wonderful experience.

Our first room was located above the workout room and we were awoken with loud banging. After calling the front desk we didn’t get any resolve so we investigated ourselves what the noise was. Saw that we were above gym with someone doing weights. After that I requested to be moved, which was done swiftly. She also gave us complimentary breakfast which was very nice. Otherwise our stay was great and the staff was very accommodating. Great location!

The property itself is a bit dated but was comfortable and convenient for all our other needs in the area.
The house keeping team was doing a fine job until they forgot to clean our room and leave clean towels for the last night of our stay.
The final bill was sent via email and I could see that there were many additional charges on the bill that shouldn't be there. I followed up with the front desk and they were able to take care of this.

The property is very conveniently located. The rooms are basic (a little dated) and clean. The front desk staff was very nice and friendly, but didn't clearly explain the "destination" fee. Housekeeping really needs help. We "opted in" at checkin when we were asked, however they did a poor job. They emptied the trash, did not make the beds, and did not leave 2 extra towels as we requested both days. We had to call down to the desk both days to get extra towels when we had left a note (with a tip) in the room. The tip was taken, so they had to see the note. Just a frustrating thing for us when we were rushing to get out to events each night.

Beware of hidden fees!!! This hotel charges a $20 “destination fee.” It is tucked in the fine print, and the desk clerk even admitted the fee is “hidden.” He did alert me to it when I checked in and told me it was $20/night. On my bill they charged $23.49 per night. The destination fee is supposed to entitle you to a $20 credit in the restaurant, but my bill did not reflect that and I am now in the tedious process of disputing the charge. In addition, our toilet leaked and the robe was stained. Eww.
The hotel is in a wonderful location, and our room was perfectly fine (with the exception of the leaky toilet.) There are plenty of other options at this price point. I would continue shopping around before settling on this Westin.

It was an amazing staying. I only had a problem that house keeping didn’t come and clean my room and i asked twice, and that I couldn’t use the valet bell hopper because it was only 1 man working and too many cars parked so i had to carry ALL of my bags to check in which was very frustrating. But other than that my stay was great!

While the hotel is in a good location and in good repair there were a couple of things that I was disappointed with.
The first is the fact that at check in they hit me with a $20 “Destination” charge which they claimed could be used as a credit at various paces within the hotel. So, it was essentially a mandate that you spend at least $20 of hotel services. This was not made clear when making the reservation.
The second was the price for parking at the hotel. $79/night for parking seems a bit steep even for downtown Chicago.
Others than that, the room was good, beds comfortable and bathroom clean. It was also walkable to many places along Michigan Avenue.

My overall experience was great, had some housekeeping issues 1st day and once I brought it to the attention of one of the cleaning ladies name Jo. She went to my room and took care of it immediately. The front desk staff, bell man, concierge, all went above and beyond to give good customer service.

The manager Maria checked us in early. She was very pleasant and helpful. She helped set up a late check out for us. Unfortunately the room decor was dated. Housekeeping did not fully clean the bathroom or make up the bed appropriately. For my next trip to Chicago I will definitely consider alternate options.

We have stayed at the Westin Michigan Avenue before and loved it. However, this time we were told there was a $20 daily resort fee on our bill but they would credit it back to us at the end of our stay. We were fine with that. Then I asked if they had free Wi-Fi and the girl at the front desk said it you can select either the $18.95 basic or the faster one for $21.95 but we would get reimbursed at checkout as we are Marriott Bonvoy members.
Good thing we asked for our bill the morning we checked out because they did not credit any of those charges back to us. Had to have them correct the bill but the man at the front desk was reluctant to do so. He insisted it would eventually go back but I insisted he make the changes and print the bill for my records. He eventually reimbursed some of the fees and we had to get to the airport so we left it at that.
The location of this hotel is great. Everything was within walking distance. The property itself is a little older and needs maintenance. For example our bathroom door didn’t close all the way. The elevators were out of service most of the time we were there causing long waits. We were told to use the service elevators once.
I can overlook most inconveniences because the location is so great but I won’t be staying there again if I have to worry about being billed incorrectly.

The destination fees add a lot of money to your bill. I was charged an extra $230 for a 1 night stay, so about $600 for one night. I would not stay at the Westin again due to the additional fees.

I really liked the location of the hotel, it was walkable and close to everything. What I did not like was how the lobby was always packed, almost tens of people everywhere. It was a busy weekend, with groups coming for weddings so there were a lot of people. What I also did not like was that the hotel charged me 0 handling packages fee for 3 packages while it should have been half the price. Fortunately I received a refunf what I appreciated. I will definitely come back despite the 2 cons I've noticed.

The Westin on Michigan Avenue is a well-located nice hotel. it is well kept, and maintained and the staff was excellent. The rooms and bathroom were spacious and clean.
The check in was a little chaotic and the lobby by the desk was often crowded and hard to navigate. They need a better flow or more people at certain times of the day to move things along more quickly. Errors were made at check-in that had to be resolved when the bill was reviewed - I think this could be avoided if it wasn't so crazy at check-in.
Also, any hotel room that doesn't have outlets for plugging in cell phones, etc, on both sides of the bed is not great.

Room was ready early which was a definite plus. Bathroom had plenty of space especially in the shower to put your shower gels, etc. Large TV. Comfortable bed. Good location. Lobby is underwhelming but you dont travel to Chicago to hang out in lobbies...lol

The staff did not clean our room for entire stay. We were told at checkout that we did not ask for cleaning services when we checked in. The checkin time they should have mentioned that we need to ask for cleaning services. Also we asked the cleaning staff on the floor to clean our room while we were going out but they did not. Overall good location and convenient for short visit to Chicago.

Great location and hotel

There were undisclosed charges -- a destination fee - that was charged each day. We did not know about this until we checked in and they told us. They only have one (sometime two) people at check in so there was a line that snaked around the lobby to check in and out. I have stayed at lots of hotels but never experienced anything like that. The room was so-so but the bathroom was very bad -- toilet did not flush, toilet seat was broken. There are many wonderful hotels in Chicago. This is not one of them.

The only thing we didn't like was that it took forever for the elevators to get to us, at first it was ok but later on, no matter if you were on the Main Floor or the Floor that your room was on. it was really frustrating to have to wait almost 10 min for an elevator. But Overall Our stay was Amazing
