Property is definitely going to need some updates sooner than later. Our heating unit had something wrong with it-way too hot to get a good nights sleep. It would have also been nice to know the pool/hot tub were closed. I picked that particular hotel because it had a hot tub! Front desk staff was great. USB on the lamp didn’t work so I couldn’t charge my phone. Overall was an ok stay-was clean and safe

What was the point??
Called days before to ask for an early 2:00pm checkin time so we could change to get to a family visitation that started at 3:00pm. The room wasn’t ready and we were late to the family function.

We called in advance to insure that the hot tub and the pool were available for use. We were told that it was. Upon checking in there was a sign saying they were out of service. In addition there was no coffee pots in the hotel room and we had to get coffee from the front desk area. The issue with that is that the coffee had been sitting for hours as it was nearly cold.

Not pleased
Both the hot tub and pool were under maintenance. The desk manager couldn’t tell us where a grocery store was close to the location. (Found one less than 2 miles away). The metal grate on the ice machine was moldy. There was a huge stain on the chair in our room. Overall did not justify the previous ratings on the website.

Good shell and clean
Great basics, very clean. Disappointed that the pool was out of service which was the reason we chose this hotel, but staff was wonderful and we had clean accommodations. Breakfast is blah. 2 cereal choices, pancake batter was banana nut only. No one in our family was satisfied with breakfast day one so day 2 we ended up eating out. The pillows are awful, definitely bring your own, and beds are hard. But we all agreed we appreciated a clean and safe place to stay. And they are super convenient to the highway!

Needs some maintenance. Door hinges in bathroom rusty, accumulated dirt/hair in corner by tub and wall, beds and pillows so uncomfortable. The smell in the room was weird, like damp/musty. Light in bathroom flickered. Second day our keys didn’t work. Towels small and worn/thin. Lampshade had damage.

There was no pool or hot tub available to use and we were not notified beforehand. Sheets were also dirty on the bed. Morning breakfast was very good though.

Pool and hot tub were broken. Wish I would of known I would of stayed somewhere else. Had to ask for towels because there were only hand towels in the room. Otherwise the place was clean and the staff was very friendly.

Only thing i did not like i was in room 218 and you could here the water from pool room running though the wall kept me up all night i didnt get any sleep and i had 5hr drive home no sleep did not help other than that nice place staff was nice

The hotel was nice. The website said the pool was heated but no one would swim in it because it felt like an ice bath (it was way to cold). I asked the lady at the front desk if someone could turn the heater on for it but she didn’t know how. During my shower (less than 10 minutes) the water started getting colder. I turned it all the way to hot but it still was cold. I will say a lot of people were leaving when we left so everyone may have been trying to take a shower at once causing the colder water. But we would stay again.

I made a reservation for the hot tub suite, which when I arrived was told had no reservation for. Upon arrival I was made to feel a burden and as if I were being deceitful even though I had email confirmation. Would never consider staying at this hotel again

Very pleased with the Wingate in Joliet
We came to the Joliet area for a funeral and had booked the Wingate through Expedia. We had to bring in a change of clothes and lots of items from the funeral. Staff asked us if we needed any help moving items to and from our room. Very friendly.
After we had booked one room, other family members decided to join us. So at the last minute we booked another room. No hassle at all. The staff was helpful and helped make the whole stay no pressure at a difficult time for us personally. Our grandkids had a wonderful time in the swimming pool, which looked clean and sanitary.

Hot tub jets did not stay on, and only some worked. Lobby also did not have water for people to drink, which most hotels do. , but walls were thin. Only a water fountain.
Desk staff was friendly, but walls were thin. All was clean.

Nice Hotel, friendly staff ,specially Anne Marie Casey who has been really helpful.
Only thing we didn't have been keen on was the breakfast first time experiencing American Breakfast which wasn't our taste as Brits.

Pool was dirty and had a thin film of visible slime, the outdoor patio was locked and unavailable as well, the pool room was too hot to justify taking a cooling swim. Other wise very nice. Breakfast was so generous too. I didn’t book for the pool but was disappointed I bought a swim suit to partake.

Pleasantly Surprised!
We are grandparents & had our two grandchildren with us traveling on our way back from Black Lake in Michigan. Unlike our stay in Econolodge in Kalamazoo this hotel was fabulous! Our room was very clean . The outside was very clean & inviting. We arrived before 3 pm but was allowed to have our room early. We were greeted at the front desk by the owner, who was very pleasant.The kids wanted to swim so we asked for a room near the pool & was granted our request.
The only issue I seen was that the edge of the pool could have used a cleaning. But all in all our stay was great.
Our stay at the Econolodge going up was 130.00 which was ridiculous for the room we received. Compared to the 150.00 room at Wingate for the money this was a great very clean place to stay. Room 115 !

The hotel it self is nice and our room was clean! Breakfast was good and different each day. Our complaint is the pool area the pool was cold and the hot tub had sand on the bottom and was dirty with almost green water that smelt like urine,plus the jets barely worked so very disappointed cause the hot tub is why I booked this hotel. Staff were very friendly. They also take a $100 deposited per room and it gets returned in 48 hours to your account they say. I checked out today so we'll see.

This hotel is amazing. The staff is great, breakfast mmmmmuah, love that the pool and hot tub was open until 11pm. Not going to take any points away about the sand in the hot tub. Nice and quiet 5 ⭐️

It’s a cheap place to crash. Everything is Meh
We booked to visit family. The room smelled musty like there was mold in the ac unit. The floors were dirty and overall the whole hotel smelled of smoke.
The breakfast was very sparse and had no gluten free options. Staff was unfamiliar with the ingredients of hot food items.
The staff overall seemed way over worked and tired. The side doors were out of order and quiet hours were not enforced.

The property is filthy, the entire place smells like mold, my room smelled like wet dog, so much that I had to go get a plug in for my room to be bearable. The mini-fridge froze everything I put in it. The pillows smelled and old used towels were left in the bathroom.

There was no soap in the room and barely any toilet paper, no extra rolls. Microwave wasn't clean. Bathroom counter wasn't clean. Smelled like an ashtray, in a non smoking building. Carpet had sticky spots.

I paid for a suite but the hot tub wouldn't keep the water from draining. I told the morning staff who had maintenance to work on it while I was out. Upon my return, it still was not working. The receptionist then tried to place me in a basic room with 2 queens and no hot tub. He later found another suite and the room was hot (as the first room had 2 ac units). By this time I was OVER IT.

The rooms were outdated and could have been cleaner. Rooms are only cleaned and new supplies brought(including soap) every 3 days. You have to reserve the pool to use it.

The Wingate was very clean and the room and bed was comfortable. There are good restaurants w/in 10 to 15 minutes away, and the area was very quiet even though its close to the freeway.

The service was good and the room overall was good. However, there seemed to be an infestation of ants in the room. They were everywhere. Worst of it was the bed. They even raided our pizza ans we had to throw it out. When i brought it up at checkout they said tbey couldnt help me because i booked my hotel room through Hotels.com and not them.

The worst part was the room heater. Every time it started up it sounded like we had a farm tractor in the room. We finally had to shuy it off. There was also some roudy on my floor who decided to let out a roar for some reason at about 11.00 and woke both of us up
The breakfast gave us a good start to the day and I found mu bed pretty comfortable

Stinky Hotel
The check-in and check-out went smoothly. The manager that attended to the breakfast was condescending. The entire hotel smelled of marijuana and the odor was overbearing on the third floor. The pool turned out to be closed, even though I called the night before and was told that it was open. For a $100/night/room incidental fee hold, I expected much more. Sorely disappointed.

Our room was slightly smelly when we walked in, the pillows were the lumpiest I’ve ever encountered in my travels, and the shower took 10 min to deliver barely warm water. Very dissatisfied
