The staff seems to have perfected the art of being attentive without becoming annoying. Every staff member--including housekeeping--was pleasant. Enjoyed the restaurant and there are ample cuisine options nearby if you want to explore. No doubt we'll be back again.

Am Very upset this was supposed to be a romantic getaway for my boyfriend and I. It was his birthday and we drove 4 hours just to get there, as we got into the room I think everywhere I stood it was dirty. Stains on the sheets, towels. Didn’t look like the bed was made.. I also had thought we reserved the room with a tub next to the bed and that wasn’t true ether. Bed was comfy and I’m happy I brought my own blanket cause I was not going to sleep with a blanket that had stains (stains that even had food left on it.)

I put in for a lakeview and when I get there that wasn't the case. It was the whole purpose to my trip or night get away for my birthday, I live and the city and wanted a different view for the night. And the room was very small I ask for king size bed seem like I was in a queen. Also the hotel needs to update their plugs and put some more modern day plugs in. But it was ok.

Stayed during the week of New Years, picked this hotel cause I wanted the view of the lake which was really the only part that made it worth it. You turn the tv off and it’s just silent I mean so dead silent you hear everyone in the rooms around you, everyone in the hallways, all the cars in the street below like I’m so glad I brought headphones I could blast rain sounds but even that doesn’t stop people slamming their doors. The pillows don’t pillow at all, deflate immediately. New Year’s Day the cleaning lady walked in my room while I was sleeping even though I opted out of room service and the front desk lady (who could’ve been speaking another language wouldn’t make a difference) offered me $30 off and an oopsie sorry. My first night your bartender with the glasses and dark hair made me two margaritas which were so dirty I threw up and was so drunk when I went back to my room I had a horrible hangover the next day. Two drinks. Like how is that even… and the other time we went on New Year’s Eve the bartender lady with her cutout leggings also made extremely strong drinks that’s just not safe…. I will never be staying at a Marriott hotel of any kind I mean I am absolutely horrified. I would recommend atleast stuffing the walls and the beds I should mention the last day my back hurt so bad when I got home I wasn’t walking for days, like that bad, how is that even possible I don’t know I wish I was being dramatic.

This was a girls getaway for two days. I loved the Wonderful room overlooking Lake Michigan. It was very quiet and the service was great. Breakfast was delicious. I will return.

Overpriced And $79 a Night for Parking
Not worth the cost I’ve been all over Chicago…thought lake view would be nice…I was wrong. The do not tell you that the only parking is Valet and $79 a night . Rooms are stinky and cobbled toon a hodgepodge of 1982 & modern (try) features
The bar restaurant was nice to look at but managed poorly…And they put out coffee in the morning for guests and nobody’s monitoring it…both mornings of the stay 2 huge coffee decanters and the cream and the milk ended up empty—-both days
I would absolutely recommend that you do not stay here. Pay 1/2 the cost and stay up off Michigan st Somwhere….by all the action.

My husband and I celebrate his birthday there and it was really nice, the amazing viewing. We love the breakfast there is so delicious! The only bad thing is the parking lot price too hi!

The worker collecting our bags to be stored until we left was quite rude to my friend. But other than that all the employees were super sweet and friendly. Additionally the room (specifically the bathroom) wasn’t the cleanest when we arrived.

Small bathroom had one of those no-real-privacy doesn't-fully-close handicapped-friendly doors and a semi-frosted WINDOW into the bedroom, so not recommended for couples. "City View Room" means view of another hotel in the city. (Lake View rooms have a much nicer view, but face the sunrise.) Shower had one of those rainshower shower heads that makes it frustrating to thoroughly clean oneself, and has no real pressure. No mini-fridge or coffee machine. Thin walls. Unwelcoming message in the bathroom threatens to charge you forty-five bucks if an empty plastic soap bottle goes missing. Bag check guy was very friendly and helpful. Parking is eighty bucks a day. Pool, but no jacuzzi. Loud hip-hop music in the lobby was a little stressful. Great walkable location.

Great room with an amazing city view. Breakfast for 2 was fantastic. Location is perfect next to the lakeshore and walking distance of everything we wanted to visit. Fantastic service from the staff and we received an extra hour to our checkout.

The wallpaper was peeling in the room and there was obviously unintentional paint places on it. The entertainment center was old, outdated, and had water damage. Speaking of water damage, the bathroom had a ton especially the sprinkler system. Tiles were loose on the floor. The shower leaked everywhere and was very dirty and damaged. When we walked in the whole room smelled like weed and kept getting worse until we sprayed the room down with cologne.

Got there and was not greeted properly at check in. Get to our room and the toilet was broken. Maintenance came quickly but was never apologized to for the inconvenience from the front desk. The shower had no tub therefore after showering there was water all over the floor. Constantly had to use clean towels to dry floor. Won’t be staying at “W” hotels anytime soon.

Hotel was average. Great night time atmosphere with music in the bar area. Close to tons of stuff to do downtown and a very easy drive to Soldier Field. Staff was awesome. Not really a $250/night hotel, but it is Chicago.
I will say that $79 a night to park is ridiculous after already paying close to $300 to stay at the hotel.

Great front desk and concierge service. The am coffee service had no tea-we wondered why? our room was spacious although could use new TV area 'desk" (ours had paint bubbling from its surface") and the shower /bathroom was in serious need of recauking
We didnot know why the halls/doors were all black??? At night going down the halls it is very ominious vs. welcoming

I am disappointed by my first (and last) stay in a W Hotel. Our room was not ready when we arrived at 7:30 pm (hours after check in) and then we were given a noisy room that smelled heavily of cleaning products. The beds were short sheeted and we all slept horribly. There are no fridges in the room and none available at the front desk to “check out” (a ridiculous concept), and the ice I requested because our floor’s ice machine is broken never arrived. They charge for Wi-Fi in the rooms and everything feels very nickel and dimed. We won’t be returning and feel our trip to Chicago could have been so much better.

Love this hotel. The staff were very warm and friendly. We had a room with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan and Navy Pier. Great place to walk and cycle next to the Lake.
Easy walking to local restaurants and a nearby bus will take you to Michigan Avenue. There’s loads to do and see in Chicago and we had a wonderful time.

The Hotel has a nice location in front of the Lake, and the view is Amazing. We have a good time. except for the room, the design is uncomfortable, the bathroom is too big and making the room space very small, the bathroom doesn't have enough countertop to place your staff and the closet has another weird design and you don't have a spot to place your luggage different than the floor and walk around

This hotel had the vibe of a night club, and it was very strange. The room hallways are black (carpet and walls), made it difficult to see others in the hallways. The rooms did not have a microwave or fridge in the room, however, the sticker on the thing that looked like a fridge, said call to have one delivered. I called and they were all out and never had one show up in the 3 nights I was there. The ice machine was out on the 3 of 4 floors I checked. The bathroom door is a barn style door, and gives zero privacy. All in all, it was a very average hotel. Their cheaper "city" view is just a view of the building next door. It was convenient to the navy pier, however, I would stay closer to Michigan ave next time and avoid this place.

We needed refrigerator for our left over dinner. We asked if they can accommodate our food in their refrigerator and initially said they couldn't. Later, they brought in a mini refrigerator for us which was a nice surprise.👍

EXTREMELY INCONSIDERATE & EXPENSIVE
WAY OVERCHARGED!! Found a dirty smelly sock under the bed, hair in the shower. Expected a special small surprise for my daughter’s birthday (a simple note, a card, a balloon, flower, anything) because W Chicago Lakewood OFFERED when I called to inform them of my check in delay due to her father passing the day before!! So disappointed that not only was no consideration given but to arrive in a dirty room utterly exhausted and not wanting to confront management at that time.

We really enjoyed the bar and breakfast area really nice and the bar tender really pleasant. The room had a really great view of the water. I didn’t like we have to order a fridge or a microwave don’t understand why it’s not standard in the nicer rooms.

The negative reviews deff made me very nervous after I booked this hotel but our experience was the total opposite. Check in was super easy and the staff was helpful. It was our first time in Chicago and we had a great experience, me and my boyfriend loved it and we will come back. Walkable distance to everything and the our view was great. Shout out the the guy with the nice shoes who works there lol.

This is a great property:
Excellent Location
Very walkable, close to restaurants and the Mag Mile.
Free coffee in the morning is outstanding.
Super people-watching.
Drawbacks:
Elevator bottleneck: 4 small elevators serve 30 floors
A little noisy: Tight quarters made toilet flushes, showers, and noisy conversations in other rooms quite audible
We will probably return, though. The location was really great.

Brown stains on pillows in first room. Neighbors screaming and yelling at 1am in the second room. No USB ports in any room. All ice machines broken. No refrigerator, coffee maker, or microwave in room. Was told I could get onto a wait list for those. Overall the worst W hotel I’ve ever been to.

No house keeping during our stay. We asked for extra towels, and room cleaning, they brought towel but no one came to clean room during our stay at all. Small bathroom, no fridge in the room. Noisy as were close to the elevator.

I always love coming to the W for its convenience being so close to the lake and my favorite breakfast spot Eggs Inc but my sheets were ripped and never got changed and no fridge or microwave was available for 3 days so i couldn't save any food each day

This place is located next to the pier, retail, dining, a small beach, and is a short walk to several train stations. The space has beautiful views of the city and the lake and a decent hotel and bar on the mail level.

Overall the stay was good. It started off rocky with a computer issue causing many guests to have delayed check-in times due to the rooms not being cleaned. Other than that, the staff was very friendly, facility was clean, and it was located in a very convent part of the city with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan, Navy Pier, and the city. It would have been nice to have a coffee maker in the room instead of just in the lobby. Also be sure to double-check your room reservation because the room I booked online is not the one I ended up with. That may have been due to the issues mentioned earlier, though. I would consider staying here again in the future.

The W was extremely expensive for what it was. $1000 for three nights is ridiculous. The room was okay but the bathroom toilet still had a “evidence” from the guests before us.
The TV in our room was outdated with barely any channels. There was no coffee pot, fridge, or microwave. You have to ask them for that stuff.
The hotel itself has a restaurant and bar- if you want to spend money on it. My advice would be to go stay at a holiday inn because the W was NOT worth the money.

I found it inconvenient to not have a refrigerator and microwave in the room, those appliances had to be ordered from the front desk. When I did request a refrigerator, one was not available. I did receive a microwave but it was not in good shape.
At check in, the valet insisted I have my luggage put on a cart and brought to my room, I wanted to carry it myself. It took close to an hour for my luggage to arrive to my room and that was only after I went back to the front desk and asked them to help me get my luggage. The front desk person was very helpful and if it weren’t for her, I probably would have had to wait even longer. My luggage was the only luggage in the lobby waiting to go to the room. I didn’t like how my luggage was sitting out in a busy lobby with no one keeping an eye on it.
At check out, there were no luggage carts available for me to bring my luggage down to my car because the valet said luggage carts are not available for self service and that I could only have one, if someone came to my room and helped me with my luggage. Because of my previous experience of having to wait, I decided to carry all my luggage down to my car without a cart instead of waiting for someone to help me.
Also side note, there was no working ice machine on my floor (floor 11). I went to floor 10 and that machine was also not working. I did find a working machine on floor 9.

First room had a broken bathroom door, the replacement room bathroom sink didn’t drain so we had to brush our teeth over the bathtub drain. Honestly it was a trainwreck. Room service never showed, yet we were charged, restaurant staff was awkward with no process in place for seating and tending to guests.

My husband and I expected more of this hotel. We were not able to get a mini fridge after asking the front desk for it multiple times. They informed us that we were for sure going to get one the next day and we never got one as the days past by. Our TV did not work at all the screen kept saying “Accessing…” the 2 nights we were there.

I loved the location of the property right across from the water. The food was just ok. The cleaning service did not come in a timely manner. We would leave for the first part of the morning and when we would come back by 2, our room was never serviced. The elevators are slow. The pool was not in working condition because of a problem.

I stayed in this hotel for three nights with my daughter and had an alright experience. It helps to know what you are getting into. First off, most of the other reviews of this hotel are spot on. This is an older building, but it is in a great location with everything you could need within walking distance. With that said, there are plenty of issues here, see below:
Pros:
Hotel is in great location
Hotel staff are wonderful
If you get a good room, you can have a nice view
Restaurant inside hotel
Cons: In 2023 they charge up to $15/night for wifi
Parking on sight is valet only and $80/night
Microwaves, refrigerators, and coffee machines are not included in rooms and only available upon request, if they have any available (how odd)
Rooms aren’t the cleanest
Shower drains are clogged and don’t drain
You can hear everything in the hallways and neighboring rooms
A/C is loud (but it works!)
High price for quality of room
TV showed 77 channels, about 1/4 of them actually worked (see picture)
While it is in a nice location, I don’t think I’ll ever stay here again. I have had better stays for less money at Holiday Inn Express (at least they have working tv, microwaves and refrigerators in their rooms). If you do stay here, park in the parking lot next door, at $51/night it is cheaper than the hotel valet.

It was perfect for our vacation. Walking to the pier and beach area was amazing. They provided us with a fridge, coffe maker and microwave for our 5 day stay. Transportation was easy to catch. Staff was friendly! The only downside was paying for parking. $79 a night. At leadt i knew our care was safe. Definitely reccomend staying here.

The location is fantastic and there is a bus service a couple of blocks away. Michigan Ave shopping, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute all a pleasant and safe walk away (depending on your tolerance for walking…one day we logged over 8 miles). We found several nice restaurants in the area, including D4 where we enjoyed a beer and charcuterie, in a lovely treed, plaza, and Eggs Inc for a delicious brunch.
We opted for a city view when we made the reservation, but due to availability were upgraded to a Lakeview, which was lovely! But, our room, 2702, backed up to the elevators, and we heard a dull roar every time the elevators moved. So if I had paid for that Lakeview, I would’ve been unhappy with the noise.
I like the way the room is furnished with ample seating and a desk.
I used and enjoyed the large bottles of hand soap, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion provided for guest use.
Note: no USB charging plugs available.
