The bed was super comfy. The rooms are quite small and the bathroom is tiny! The place is in need of some updating for sure, but we weren’t there to hang out in our room. It was perfect for what we needed. It was very warm in the room, and we couldn’t adjust the temp lower than 65, so we just opened the window a bit. The front desk staff was very friendly. No complaints at all. Again, it was perfect for what we needed.

The stay was ok. The staff was great but the hotel rooms are outdated. For what they’re charging per night you can go to a nicer hotel. Holiday Inn Express is nicer to this one. The pictures do not reflect the reality. The only nice area is the lobby.

Avoid. There are much better options for the same price.
The rooms are small, not aging well and are furnished very cheaply. The door to the bathroom, made of MDF and plastic, was falling apart.

The property is conveniently located and the bar area is amazing! The room’s bathroom was small and tight, and the shower spout wouldn’t stay secure so the shower didn’t stay on. I had to hold it in with one hand so I could continue to shower.

I tripped over a rolled up carpet in the entryway and fell hard. I was hurt, looked up to see the bartender (the bar is just inside the entryway) looking at me yet he never made a move to help. Keep in mind that this was at approximately 2pm and there were no customers at the bar. As I lay there, finally an exiting customer did stop and ask if I was ok….then an employee from the salon next to the entrance came out and did the same, nothing from a hotel employee. Once I was able to get up, I sat on the bench for a moment to compose myself…still nothing from a hotel employee. I have two broken ribs as a result of the fall. I made the decision not to stay at a hotel that employs those that show no sense of humanity. I found great accommodations a short distance away at the Hilton Chicago.

Room not cleaned on our second day despite asking. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel. No free wifi for non Bonvoy members says it all. Not the W I expected!

We had a great time at the W. All the staff, from front desk to the bar were all great. The room was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. No complaints at all and we would stay there again. I think the hotel should have a QR code for the room staff that clean the room before you arrive so you can tip when you arrive and your room is impressively clean. I was really happy about that. The hotel is conveniently located to a lot of attractions and we felt comfortable walking to most places.

Staff was very helpful.. We had a car and didn't realize there was no on-site parking. They let us park in front as the frond desk help get our parking sorted. We secured a lot caddy-corner for a great price.
Hotel is very nice and reasonably priced.
We had a room that was mostly shielded from the EL, but not sure if they all are, so that may be a concern for some.

I expected to stay at the W hotel, as I have stayed there before in every other city and come to find it seemed as though it was a newly renovated rundown boutique hotel with no room service. No phone calls no front desk assistance no information whatsoever it seemed as though all employees didn’t know what they were doing. I would complain and take the time for a refund, but as it took me three hours to arrive here and have a place to stay, I will refrain from doing so, but highly suggest making changes, if not telling the customers the actual truth about condition of hotel as it is not worth almost $300 a night let alone $100 . In addition hotel website information is completely inaccurate as it said that there was valet. If not hotel parking that you had to pay for which I would’ve been fine with but instead I had to drive a mile away from hotel to park pay twice as much and pay all over again as I had to go get food since room service closes at 8. I’m disgusted with this experience

This property is in a very safe area, I did not feel unsafe at all walking around it! Great restaurants near by and nice shopping. A little far from the river and Millennium Park, so take that into consideration if you’re only there for those attractions, but they’re a short Uber ride away. Loved the inside bar, and very friendly staff!

Disappointing.
i was trying to have my significant other , check in early. But was told couldnt happen needed to be registered. It was not until my third call, that the worker, melloni took the initiative to assist me, and took care of that. I was given the run around and put on a long hold the first two times. I will not be recommending this place to any collegues or organizations. In addition no one came out for the parking, and no directives. I will not be staying here again, Let it alone recommend it to anyone.

Overall good place to stay,highlight was staff was kind,smiling and working hard to please you.
Only negative was room left something to be desired.Carpet wasnt laid tight so had loose humps that were trip hazards and bathroom was so tiny you could barely turn around in.I would stay there again mainly due to staff.

Because it was a W hotel, I expected that things would be nicer. The lobby and bar looked great, so I expected the room would be too. It was an average room. However, they bar had great food and drinks! My friends and I were very happy about how nice the bar looked, how friendly the staff was and how good their drinks special were.

1. Despite giving the list of reservations to three different people, the staff repeatedly could not find reservations of our guests.
2. Nautica at the bar charged 23$ for drinks which were 18$ on the menu because our guests ordered them on ice! 23$ drinks were charged 63$ because our guests ordered double shots.
3. Rooms do not have coffee makers.

Hotel is dated and not up to usual W standards. The design of my room was also unusual, especially the bathroom, which was L shaped and had no lighting in the shower area. Also no drawers to put clothes, etc in
Shower temperature fluctuated (hot, then cold water, then back to hot) and ice machine on my floor was out of order so I had to go to a different floor

Simple hotel stay. Lobby Bar was accessible and plenty of lounge couches in the lobby. The bed was very comfortable. Our view was the center of the building, but it didn’t matter to us because we just stayed one night to sleep.

The room was very small and there was a noise from pipes at one night and i coud not sleep well. Perhaps the room was located near HVAC systems. The room was dark during the day because the window was toward the shaft. The room was overpriced - too small, noisy and dark.

The W is a “cool” property. You walk in through the bar to check in. With luggage and a child at check in, this can be annoying.
The check in staff were absolutely impeccable! They were kind, and helpful, and also interacted with my 6 year old.
While the room was huge, the shower was the worst shower I’ve ever had in my life. The water temps were either ice cold or scalding hot. No In between. It was awful.
With so many choices at similar or even cheaper prices, we will not be staying at the W again.

Trying to order in-room dining took multiple days worth of calling the front desk before anyone would answer.
The bathroom was rather awkward (toilet placed uncomfortably close to a wall) and the room had a "closet" that was about 1ft wide.

Everything was good overall. The room was large but turned out to be a handicap accessible room so there was no shower stall just a short curtain. So every time I showered water would leak out across the floor. Also no view. Just looking into atrium of other rooms. However front desk people were friendly and the room was clean.

We loved the inside look of the entire hotel. It’s so modern and beautiful! It’s very close to Chicago attractions and it was one of the cheapest ones in the area. The food and drinks are delicious and the service has been excellent!

The hotel overall experience was great, we arrived 4 hours earlier than normal check-intime. The concierge was extremely helpful and very cool, he allowed us early access to our room and went over the App and many things about the hotel that was not listed. The atmosphere just added to the cool factor of the over-all hotel. When you walk in you see the stylist to your right and in front of you a very cool bar with modern black leather couches. Our room was on the 12th floor, it reminded me of a small New York Apt,
it was small but very modern, clean and comfortable. The hotel offers so many amenities and great location for almost anything you need. We will definitely be planning another stay here.

Hotel is in a great location. The rooms are extremely tiny, the carpet is buckled and dirty, the whole hotel smells musty. During our stay, the same room service tray with old McDonald’s on it sat in the hallway for nearly 48 hours. The ice machine was broken, and when we reported it to the front desk, the reply was “ well there’s an ice machine on every floor.” Do you check in ladies were friendly, but unfortunately the rooms themselves leave a lot to be desired.

Smallest bathroom in my hotel history
The hotel was average, but the room was tiny and the bathroom was absolutely the smallest bathroom I’ve ever seen in a hotel. Not at all value for money, and far from what I would expect at the ‘W’.

For close to $500/night the room was on par with a Motel 6, at best. The bathroom could not have been smaller and there was no view. Only upsides were that the bed was comfortable, the staff was nice, location was convenient.

Was a little frantic checking in as traffic to the hotel was terrible and I arrived a4:05 and had a wedding at the Old Post Office at 5. They were very accommodating and got me to my room in 5 minutes

My experience staying at the W hotel was extremely under rated. This hotel is advertised as a luxury hotel and my experience was far from being a luxury hotel. It is embarrassing to say that I’ve stayed at this hotel.

Came down for Wis-ND game at Soldier Field and had a great stay. 5 minute walk from Union station, friendly hosts, nice bar, comfy room. Only issue I had was would have been nice to have a small refrigerator in room

Very nice bar in the lobby, however it closed very early even on the weekend. Room was clean and nice enough but the entire room was cream colored (pretty ugly decor all in one color). Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This place is like a 90's throwback hotel. It's super dark and feels dirty. It's TRYING really hard to still be relevant and hip, but it badly needs a makeover in look, style, staff, service, F & B, all things.

The property is OK. The rooms are very small, and somehow I got downgraded from a queen bed to a double bed while being told I was getting upgraded. I brought it up and was told there were no other rooms available. Not happy with how we were treated.

We were put in a tiny tiny room… I assume because we used hotel.com points. Both of my friends rooms were much bigger! I could open my bathroom door from my bed. The closet door would not shut with an average sized hanger in it. Room 426

One of Chicago’s Best.
If your travels take you to Downtown Chicago or Grant Park- look no further then the W Hotel City Center. The hotel was gorgeous, room was immaculately clean, and the staff incredibly hospitable. I travel to Chicago often, and I have found my new home in the Windy City.

Worse W Ever! Worse Guest service Manager Ever
As a Marriott Bonvoy member, I travel often, W brand has been my favorite over the years. This was my first time visiting Chicago so I was excited to stay at this property. Check-in was less than ideal, neither of the agents on duty were familiar with room placement and views, they even stated “ they haven’t been given a rooms tour” the gentleman did acknowledge my status, and was pleasant during our interaction. We confirmed my number of nights and confirmed that my room and tax had already been paid via hotel.com so my card would be used for a $200 incidental, standard protocol so no problem. Well, the first room was horrible in view so was switched to a new room with similar view, the team did not know which numbers gave what view. I settled in the room without further complaint. Chicago was hosting a show with with an artist I’ve been wanting to see live, which was the primary reason for my travel. I went online to purchase my ticket but my card declined. Upon investigating, the hotel charged my card over $500 which left me in a complete disaster as I travelled on a strict budget. I called to inquire, Brooke answered, I explained what happened. Her response and attitude made everything much worse. She stated “ the incidental is $200, and she didn’t know why the “system” charged me that much, but it would fall off if I didn’t spend anything. Her tone was so nonchalant I asked to speak to the manager, she responded “I am” my letter will be sent to Marriott Execs.

Hotel was centrally located and sufficed for a short stay over a weekend. However, the staff/service was subpar. On one of the days they did not clean our room and we did not have our "Do Not Disturb" sign up. Phone in room was also not working for a big portion of our stay. When we asked for toothpaste, they brought us multiple plastic small packets. One actual toothpaste tube would have saved a lot of plastic waste. Overall, I think this hotel would be good for a short business trip to Chicago, not for a vacation.

What annoyed us during our visit was we were emailed with pricing for parking, when we arrived, there was no valet at all. We tried to valet across the street at the JW Marriott, and were yelled at by their valet that they have a different contract and we couldn't park there either. He told us we would need to park 2 blocks up and walk with our suitcases. For all the options in the city we chose to stay at the W City Center for the first time, we normally stay at the same hotel every time we visit because it is chic, clean and modern. We switched it up this time and weren't happy that we did. Staff was nice, bar was nice, rooms were pretty basic. Would probably go back to our normal fave after this.
