Very comfy, great staff, elevators are ???
Great staff, comfy beds...REALLY COMFY, cookies!!!! My only negative comment is one of the elevators that i almost got stuck in and the night hotel representative that basically made me feel like I was stupid. Monday January 22, 2024 after 9pm. Got into elevator 1 and pushed my floor button...yes i also scanned my keycard...and it bounced and showed "Out of Service". Thankfully the door opened. I reported this to "him" and not only was he dissmissive but wouldnt answer my question about where i could find stairs to get to my floor.

Cleaning Crews Need to Check Appliances/Plumbing
They service was fine, but not my first initial room. When my son and I got into the room we put our things away and was about to settle down for the night. When I turned on the shower the main faucet line would not fully change to the shower setting..I asked for new room they said we will just send Maintenance. Maintenance said they fixed it, when I to try it again, it was broke. So I finally got a new room. I highly recommend your cleaning crews should check appliances and plumbing while they are cleaning, so they can report issues.

Woke up after our third night with bed bug bites. I complained to the staff and was told a manager will reach out to me. We checked out and have not heard anything back. Terrible experience! Terrible service! Do NOT stay at this hotel. Plus now I’m terrified to bring back bed bugs home with us. We will have to get an exterminator to avoid contaminating our home.

It smelled like a nursing home. Had to run to the store to spray down everything with Lysol and Febreze. Towels/Wash cloths had stains on them. Found almonds on the floor from someone’s previous stay. Wallpaper was ripped right in the middle of the wall. I was not at all satisfied with my stay. Very uncomfortable

The only thing that was really bad was the water from the sink and shower. The sink sprayed in all different directions and the shower pressure was not good. Other than that the beds were great and the place was very clean.

A “$6” mixed drink at the bar cost $14. The breakfast that is free at Choice & Quality hotels cost $16. No ice machines were in service. There were no vending machines and the snack bar was very poorly stocked. 👎👎👎

This particular doubletree, needs updated. You can tell the owners, aren’t putting any money back into it. Just a few minor adjustments, and things should be up to normal doubletree standards.

To start of there is a system issue between Expedia and the hotel. I paid extra for having breakfast included but the hotel had no record of it. I had to show them email and login to system to prove that I paid extra. Then the hotel staff acted like they are doing me a favor. The room had chest of drawers with missing hardware to make the room look like a run down facility. The bathroom shower box doesn't hold the water in place making it run on the floor and slippery and dangerous. Water control in shower did not work properly. Overall for the hotel being a 4 star appearance was more like 1 Star.

Only booked it because it was one of many hotels that offered free shuttle service from and to the airport. We arrived at the waiting area at 9:50pm and we’re waiting till 10;45pm and no shuttle. Other hotels had their buses come 3-4 times. Final took a ride and paid out of pocket to get to the hotel since we had confirmed and paid for our reservation. Really not much of an acknowledgment or anything from the front desk at night or in the morning

I was here for 3 days. I enjoyed dinner two nights in the restaurant and breakfast once. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. Location is great. Quick drive to alot of restaurants. Walmart, Target and the airport are close by also.

Chaotic and delayed check-in
Took over an hour to get us checked in. We were told there was an “emergency” that caused many rooms not to be ready. “Manager” not on duty came in to assist (drove in from an hour away) with cleaning and with emergency. Communication about the situation was very delayed and not good. Front desk staff should have told us what was going on from the onset so that we could know what to expect. Instead, we were left in limbo, during which time it became more and more frustrating due to lack of information.

there was a man our room when we checked in, he didn’t say what he was doing there but it looked like he was fixing something in the bathroom, he had a cart with him. and the remote for the TV didn’t work and was dirty, there were not enough towels & the toilet paper had not been replaced, some towels were also dirty.

Okay but staff could be better
I interacted with two staff members at the front desk and neither looked at me while talking. One even looked away from me during our interaction. It was awkward and unprofessional by both, I felt as if my business was not appreciated.

I was highly disappointed to find bugs in my room as soon as I walked in. They were flying buys on the curtains. I am not sure how they came into the room when the windows are sealed shut. Also used drinking glasses were outside the room. There was a musty smell. Immediately, I went to the front desk and the associate gave me a new room with no issues. Customer service was good at the front desk and dining area. Apology was made. However, being Hilton property I expected more.

Dirty and rundown
The hotel is very dirty and rundown. It needs complete renovation! Stain on sheets and chairs. Tables were dirty. Most motels are much better than this hotel. I stayed there a year ago and it was nice and clean at that time

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was not great. Upon arrival into room 300, my wife and I noticed the room was very old and had a smell. We also noticed several smears and stains on the walls and counters. After attempting to take a shower, several of the white towels had yellowish stains. The final straw came upon finding a small blood stain on the pillow as we were about to go to sleep. I took the pillow downstair to the front desk to ask for a replacement, but the young man behind the counter replied that housekeeping was gone for the night, and there was nothing he could do. I then asked to be switched to a different room, and the young man replied that there was a flight cancellation at Dulles Airport nearby, and all their available rooms were being held for those passengers. At that point, I asked to speak to a manager and was greeted by the overnight Director of Operations, who was much more helpful. He transferred us to room 528, which was cleaner, but unfortunately had a bug problem. We found several random ants crawling on the bathroom floor. At this point, my wife and I just dealt with it, not wanting to request a third room, repack for a second time, or potentially request a refund and attempt to find another nearby hotel. Our experience at this particular DoubleTree was the worse hotel experience we’ve had in a very-very long time. We didn’t even want to eat the ccomplimentary cookies. I will not be recommending DoubleTree in Sterling to anyone.

The customer service was good. We were booked on one floor that had fans everywhere and smelled like mold and the manager had no problem moving us to another room. The rooms are a little beat up... scuffs and stains on most of the funiture. This was disappointing for what we expect with a hilton property. Beds were comfortable and the stall was friendly and attentive.

The property was dirty. There was a lot of trash on the floor in the elevator. I was there for 24 hours and it never got cleaned up. The floors in general were dirty. The hairdryer that was provided by the hotel was sticky and filthy; I had to call to ask them to replace it. One lady working the front desk was not very nice. Things I liked: The restaurant service and food was good and the transportation to and from the airport was fine.

Ok hotel- staff needs cs training
Man at Check in literally didn't speak to us except to say he needed to see my ID. No hello, no telling me what my room number was going to be, no telling me about the amenities. Very rude. Silently Gave us two cookies for 3 people too which was very odd. Bed had a gum wrapper on it when we got into the room, otherwise it was clean ( we hope!)

I booked this location for distance from the airport. And it was rated at four star hotel. I walk in had a reservation but the person at the front desk asked if I had digital checked in. I could not get it to work since I did it through a third party. After getting settled and take showers for the night. My reservation was for two adults and there was only one towel. Tried calling several times no answer at the front desk. Went down to the front desk was told that most all of Housekeeping called in. There were towels in the dryer and they would be ready in 15 to 20 mins and would be brought to the room. After waiting for over 45 mins Just called it a night. Called again the next morning requesting towels again. Was told again no housekeeping and to come down to get towels. And they just hung up. So I decided if that is the service I am getting here. I would rather sit in the airport for 4 hours. I started putting my things in my suitcase. and discover a large old dried blood stain on the sheets. I don't expected to see that type of things at a 4 star hotel. Also when I check in asked about the shuttle to the airport, was told it ran every 30 mins, scheduled it for 10 am but with the other events I went down there alittle for 830 in the morning. And was told it would not run until 9 am. Fine. So alittle before 9 the shuttle appeared and the entire hotel there was not alot of friendly customer service. That was the worst place that I have stayed in Hilton hotel chain.

The staff were rude and unwelcoming in evening when we arrived. The room had feathers and peanuts all over. Then when leaving in morning we had about 10 minutes until breakfast closed and they were rude about that too, we didn’t even want to eat there. Too many other places to stay with nicer staff.

With 2 kids, we had to wait more than 45 minutes (close to 3:30 PM) to get a room. Staff lacked basic customer service skills. If the hotel knows there are customers checking in, why would the rooms not be cleaned? Why would other customers be allowed late check outs? A couple who waited ahead of us were offered cookies as they were assigned a room and walked towards the elevator. With kids, we were not even offered water. When we received a room, there was no one to help with luggage. Not sure why this is a 4 star property. The room had a TV from stone age.

The hotel was nice and clean. My only criticism is that we were not aware that we had to request that our room be cleaned. We've stayed frequently in hotels - of course not recently since after the COVID fears; but we've always had our room cleaned daily without our requesting it. The attitude of the person in charge of the breakfast area was wonderful, but when we spoke to the hotel staff at the desk - - they were not very receptive. Not everyone assumes that cleaning is on a "request basis" perhaps they could have posted a sign concerning this new policy. Other than that it was fine. I am glad to have had the warm breakfast option.

I don’t like the way they mange hotel rooms. We stayed two days but did not remove trash for two days. And also the restrooms— water is coming out from shower area to the restroom spreading which is very dangerous to the customers. There is no way to go that water quickly. It was my family’s bad experience.

Don't count on the shuttle at night.
The hotel is nice, but we were disappointed that the airport shuttle (stated to run on call 24h/day) actually doesn't run in the evening. That's frustrating when you picked the hotel BECAUSE they had an airport shuttle. Otherwise, this is a typical business-traveller airport hotel. Also, take a taxi, not an Uber like the front desk recommends. The Ubers quoted almost twice the price of a taxi -glad we checked!

Waited an hour for the shuttle. Called hotel and was informed that I need to take the Homewood Suites shuttle. No sign in the Homewood shuttle and no advance notice from hotel. Suggested to put a sign in the shuttle, but did not do it. I was on the third floor and it smelled of cat urine. There was a coffee cup that stayed in the lift all day and a wet floor sign upon exiting the lift to the third floor (it was not wet, but the sign was in the way). I do enjoy water preasure in the shower, but my shower's pressure bordered on violence with no way to adjust. The only positive part of my stay was the breakfast hostess. She was friendly, helpful, and provided excellent service in an otherwise very disappointing one night stay.

Needs better housekeeping
We typically love this hotel and have stayed many times. I think covid/lack of workers is affecting them. We select this hotel specifically for the hot tub, which was broke for more than 2 weeks (we kept calling). That's OK, we got over it. But the room- a foil wrap like when you open a toothpaste was floating in the toilet, hair was on the toilet, pee was still on the back areas, long hairs on the sink and shower. I didn't complain- I had brought Lysol wipes and cleaned down everything. Toilet wouldn't flush- husband fixed it. But waking to ants all over my luggage the next morning was the final straw. There seemed to be masses of them below the air unit. We then discovered other people's socks and old food under a bed/behind a chair. We were offered a new room for our second night but at this point my husband was done with the whole experience and we just drove 6 hours back home. The hotel did make it right though and refunded our second night since we didn't stay. The front desk staff are very nice and helpful. We didn't eat there or swim in the pool so I can't review any of that. Just getting housekeepers to be a little more thorough will bring them back to the standards we've grown to know.

Decent for short stay in area
Stayed as I had meetings in the local area. Room was clean and it was fairly quiet (the AC can double as a white noise machine) when in the room. The bathroom really needs updating. The tub is narrow and more water continues to pour from the tap than the shower head so you’re always standing in a bit of water. If you aren’t fighting the shower curtain, you’re banging your elbow on the handicap rail.

Nice except for bedding
Everything was great except for the bedding seemed a bit worn. There was a small drop of what looked like blood on the bottom of the bed quilt, and when I pulled the covers back there appeared to be a 6 inch round stain on the bottom sheet. Turns out it wasn't a stain at all, it was an area of the sheet that was so worn you could basically see through it! Looks like someone had scrubbed the sheet so hard that they nearly put a 6 inch hole in it.

The property is old and somewhat dingy. There is a forlorn feeling about the place, most likely because of the low level of use during the pandemic. The staff were eager to please and seemed overworked. I would stay there again because it is convenient and the price is about right. I would expect that, when the travel business is in full swung, the property will be spruced up.

There was hair in the sink and on the counter left over from the last guest that I saw as soon as I came in my room. My dad’s door key sensor never worked and he went down to the desk twice to get new keys but to no avail. There was only one working elevator and way too many people were squishing into. No windows opened in the room and the room was stuffy. We left for a different hotel after about 15 minutes and ended up not staying.

Ok and needs better maintenance
Great location. Lobby is nice, clean and updated. Business center is best with room and cleanliness. However, the room is a little dated. The space behind the TV cabinet was so dusty that you could tell it doesn’t get vacuumed. Faucet in the shower didn’t function well with the some water running from the faucet rather than the showerhead so there was diminished water pressure from that. Bathroom and the room in general was clean.
