Great location, free beach chairs and towels. Pool area views are great, though small. Gym equipment is excellent. There is only a fridge in the room, but we found a microwave on the second floor common area. Free parking a short walk away on Monserrat st, never had an issue finding a spot.
We stayed on the second floor in an 'upgraded' room with 2 queen beds instead of the king we requested. It was very loud at night - lots of garbage trucks every single night. But was convenient to use the stairs instead of slow elevators.
I think next time I would stay in an airbnb at one of the other properties nearby for real pictures of the room and choice on floor level for better sleep - but if you choose a room thats not the lowest price tier you might have the perfect experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 10-day stay here for our honeymoon. All of the staff were extremely friendly. We booked a Diamond Head view room and it did not disappoint! The hotel was clean and we opted to get our room cleaned three times throughout our stay and it was complete with fresh bedding each time. We also took advantage of the pool and pool deck.

Your room is impacted by whether you book directly on the hotelâs website or third party website. The front desk told me âNo, you booked through Expedia and that is only reserved for guests who book directly through the hotelâ when I asked for a king bed in my room and if there were suites available to upgrade to (with pay) from our ocean view studio.
On top of feeling like a second class citizen for booking through a third party, the front desk originally said our room wasnât ready then called to check. I could hear her asking if they were sure the room was ready again and again on the call. When we got to the room, it was small and crammed, smelt of must, buttons were broken on the ac unit that sounded like an airplane jet, a bed that seemed like a full size bed not nearly a queen sized bed, and the bathroom was not clean and towels used. We ask to switch rooms and ask us to ho back down to check into another room, however, they didnât apologize and didnât offer to help move our luggage to the next room as if they were doing us a favor.
We were excited to try the dole whip at the shop in the lobby. To our surprise when you order it in a cup they will serve it in 1oz paper dixie cups. I recognized the same cups we use for our dental patients to rinse out their mouth after a cleaning.
Wonât be staying here again and wouldnât recommend it. The best thing going for this place is the advertising. There are better options within the same price range.

Sad and bad customer service
I was traveling with my daughter and her boyfriend, who were using HNL as a transient point to their further travals to Japan and then China. Our flight out of Alaska was delayed due by 2 days to mechanical problems with all Alaska Airlines flights. I called your hotel and asked if I could change my reservation and was told I had to talk to the 3rd party company I made the reservations through. I called them and they said they would talk to the billing department of your hotel to see if I could make any changes. When I arrived I was told that no arrangements could be made, even though the circumstances were not in my control. I will be coming back to HNL, however, I will not be coming back to your hotel. Your customer service leaves much to be desired.

We loved the decor and art everywhere throughout the property.
It was nice that they provided beach chairs and towels; the beach was a short walk away. The overall location is great with so many restaurant and shopping options within walking distance.
The service was fantastic, from front desk staff to bell and valet staff -- we would definitely return.

This place is horrible. The valet folks are great but other than that donât trust the pics. Units are smaller than an outhouse. The restaurant on level 3 SUCKS AZZZ! The people are rude and have no sense of customer friendliness. The house cleaning people are rude and when I asked for a small shampoo bottle the lady was persistent in asking me for me room number and followed me to my room. Keep in mind that I didnât have my room cleaned for (3) three days. So they saved money. The doors in every unit are cut high so u can âsee and hearâ the corridor noise. So if u want adult time you have to think of that. I didnât care but it sucks for people that do. Plus âExpediaâ was supposed to pay for credit and for my valet and I was charged $40 a day for my stayâŚ. Now Iâm fighting to get what I paid for back. Expedia did a horrible job of vetting this hotel. Imma post this message on many platforms. âALOHA!â

standard/nice lobby, coffee shop and restaurant for waikiki. restaurant is pleasant space open to treetops and beautiful view of diamond head.
BUT
there is a $75 daily resort fee which covers nothing but a sorry small swimming pool surrounded by worn plastic grass and peeling chairs. more like a bad highway motel pool than front-line waikiki. the fee is a gouge.
on three occasions the hotel restaurant, not exclusive to guests, was full at lunchtime. on other days there were always two or three items from a small menu that were not available.

Great spot in a quieter location
Love staying here as itâs in a great location at the end of the âstripâ and across the street from the zoo. 2 minute walk to the beach with magnificent unobstructed views of Diamond Head and the beach.
Plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby and a short 10 minute walk to the retail precinct.

The bathtub has black mold on it...and the door is paper thin, i can hear exactly what is going on the hallway, and even on the street. The AC and fridge is very noisy as well, and AC air is blowing directly to the bed, which is a bad design.

We had a wonderful stay! We arrived early and they gave us an early checkin. The room was beautiful and very clean. The location was perfect with the beach an easy walk just across the street. Beach chairs and towels were a huge bonus.We had a city view but was surprised with a beautiful view of the water. Pool area was great. Perfect for families. We will definitely be back!

This hotel is a total letdown! The room I was given was really small, making it hard to move around comfortably. Compared to other hotels, it fell short in terms of space.My room faced the rooftop, and people up there could see right into my room. This lack of privacy was a big downside and took away from the overall experience.
The service from the hotel staff was not up to par. When I tried to communicate my concerns, they seemed indifferent and didn't provide helpful responses. This lack of attention and responsiveness left a lot to be desired.The room wasn't good at blocking out outside noise, so I had trouble sleeping due to sounds from outside and the hallway. Despite bringing it up with the front desk multiple times, the issue wasn't resolved, affecting the overall quality of my stay. I had to cancel my booking and change to another hotel. Bad experiences in Waikiki.

The property has a gorgeous view. They give you a reusable water bottle and beach chairs which was fantastic. The staff are incredible, very friendly and they provided a warm welcome. The staff at and located near the valet were wonderful to chat with. The only thing about the stay was the room having a bit of a funky smell otherwise it was great.

Gorgeous updated property
This property is practically perfect. The location is so close to the beach, but just on the outskirts of Waikiki so you're not quite in the middle of all the chaos (exactly what we wanted). There are so many great spots to lounge with a book or laptop; I spent at least an hour every day sitting outside at Deck (their fantastic restaurant) with a mai tai and my book. The decor is beautiful and the views of Diamond Head can't be beat.
My only complaint is that while the property and amenities were fabulous, my room seemed to pale slightly in comparison. I paid for an ocean view, which I definitely got, but the room and bathroom were very small. I noticed other rooms had balconies, while mine did not. It got the job done, but we definitely didn't spend much time hanging in our room since the rest of the property was better.
We plan on coming back next year and staying here again, but will be very careful with picking our next room in the hopes we find something a little bigger.

I regret that there was no coffee maker in the room but there was a coffee bar in the lobby. The amenities were fabulous like free sunscreen, use of beach chairs and towels, etc. We enjoyed our stay very much. And the view of Diamond Head was outstanding!!!

The location is not optimal if you want to stay close to the commercial area but the price can not beat. Would be more appropriate to be a three star hotel with limited amenities and activities. Bugs found in bathroom and tv stand. Mold can be seen from the lobby roof from the balcony.

The Queen Kapiolani hotel is comfortable and clean with good amenities and a great location! Itâs slightly removed from the hustle of downtown, but a very easy walk to access tons of shops and restaurants. The studio was a small room, but we felt that it was a great value for everything they offered!

The hotel is in a great location and the service from staff is excellent. I stay here whenever Iâm in Waikiki. An area of improvement could be the washroom. On my most recent stay, the shower head was fixed so the water was coming out at an awkward position.

Great location. Good view of ocean. Wished I had upgraded to view of DiamondHead.
Staff in lobby bar would not change the tv to broadcast the Maui Invitational being played down the street. Said only home office could change channels. Very annoying so I left and wouldn't buy anything else in lobby area. Uber drivers couldn't figure out where to pick up passengers when I designated the back entrance, which I suspect most can't figure out. I recommend only picking up from front, which only makes it difficult if you have luggage.

I booked an ocean view room with a king bed. When I checked in, they have a partial view with 2 Queen claiming it was an upgrade. Next, they did give me a ocean view room, but it had blond hair all over and it only had a queen. Very disappointed.

Great Staff, Mediocre Hotel
The power and water went out for half the day my 3rd day there, elevators were incredibly slow sometimes up to 15 minutes, but the staff was kind and helpful.

The hotel is very cute and full of Hawaiian history. The staff was very welcoming. Upon check in you receive a free canned drink and, in your room, are water bottles to keep. I had a room with a balcony that had a breathtaking view. We ordered room service for breakfast (a bit pricey but very tasty) and enjoyed the view as we ate. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Love The Queen Kapiolani Hotel!
Canât say enough about the bell desk! Super welcoming and helpful! Third time staying here since the remodel but weâve been staying here since 2003. Great location for us since we hang out at Queens beach mostly. Front desk hospitality is sometimes really good, sometimes not so good, depending on who you get. Love the views though! Beds are comfy and rooms are always clean. Housekeeping is also really friendly.

Decent area to stay (near Diamond Head side of Waikiki). Pros: about a mile walk from most Waikiki dining options, running distance to Diamond Head, chairs/beach towels at no cost. Cons: Slightly outdated facilities, slow elevators, and expensive valet-only parking ($50/night). Initially for a studio, but it was tiny and the water pressure was extremely low, so upgraded to a 2 bed room, which was much better.

The hotel itself is located in a great area. Close to the beach and shops and restaurants. The cleanliness of the lobby needs to be improved but our room was very clean. We paid extra to experience a view of Diamond Head and the ocean which was worth it. The staff were awesome. Restaurant is great for breakfast but dinner menu choices are limited.

The view of Diamond Head is breathtaking! Upon checking in they offer a nice cold Hawaiian can juice and they gave my son pineapple gummies. The employees are very friendly and helpful. Requested for an extra pillow and blanket and in less than 2 minutes housekeeping was at my door. Exceptional service!

I liked the hotel, which is decorated in a vintage style, which is fun but small things like a light on in the passage all night is annoying and easily fixed. Also, I did not like the full length mirror next to the bed. It is hard to sleep with oneâs reflection right there. Otherwise it was fine.

I didn't like that we were not told about valet only parking $50 a night before hand along with a $40.00 a night resort fee.
The staff was very professional and accommodating. Cleanliness wasn't a problem, hotel was convenient to the beach and restaurants. dining within the hotel was not so great.

I loved my stay at this hotel. The check in process was so easy. My room had a beautiful view of the ocean and a huge bathroom. You are able to use their beach towels and chairs at the beach for no additional charge. The only complaint I have was the slow elevators. One was not working so it caused for multiple lines.

This was a lovely hotel and great value. Location is very close to the beach and Diamond Head. Loved that you could rent a surfboard on the spot, and there is a scooter rental nearby too. Would stay here again. The restaurant and pool area are fantastic. My only issue was that my âocean viewâ room was not much of a view (partial, corner) and other guest rooms nearby could see right into the window so I kinda had to keep the curtain closed anyway.

This was our 2nd time here. The first time was amazing and it was under construction. This time: 1.) The front desk staff, valet and The Deck Hostesses were very dry- no smile, no welcome, no customer service-HOUSEKEEPING/Bell Services now they were very friendly, helpful and graceful. We had 4 rooms and the views from each room were amazing!! The Location is great a block from Beach, Across street from Zoo.. Great LOCATION!!

We have been staying at the Queen since we were married on Oahu 15 years ago. Every time we stay the staff is over the top accommodating and even makes sure we get to stay in the exact same room we always have! Mahalo!

The Queen Kapiolani is a great place to stay if you want to be in Waikiki but are not really seeking to be in the heart of the craziness. And itâs just steps from both the beach and Kapiolani park!

Absolute favorite hotel on Waikiki!
Their location and views are stunning with the zoo, Diamondhead and beach just across the street. The Deck Bar next to the pool on the 3rd floor is heavenly! The bartenders are super friendly mixing terrific cocktails and happy hour food is just right-tasty calamari and salmon cakes-Love Jessica!
Cannot wait to return-front office so helpful and friendly, too! Thanks, Queen Kapiolani-missing you!!! â¤ď¸

The staff members here are very accommodating and friendly. There is a moped rental place behind, too, which I definitely enjoyed. Also, I love that you can rent surfboards easily! The pool and bar area is lovely with a view of Diamond Head. The beach is a stoneâs throw away. The room was a little dated, but decent size (and big TV if you care about that). My only qualm is that my âbeach viewâ was not much of one (it was like a sliver in the distance), and the other guests with balconies could easily see into my window, so I didnât feel comfortable having the blinds drawn.

Retro cool vibes!
The QK has a cool retro vibe that is unique. Service was on point and the Deck restaurant and great food and service..Shoku gave us great service and always a smile. We also had a wedding reception here during our stay and the food was very good. The private patio and room was huge! This was a great place for a short visit and walking distance to many places and the beach. Having a great view of Diamond Head without obstruction is worth it!

I feel like this property is about 3.5 star. The bathroom is too small and it has a bathtub like a house. My unit has a squeaky door and it wasnât fixed after reporting. However, the manager did give me an upgrade to an ocean view. However, the little metal cover of the bathtub drain was off in the new room. I expected more for a 4-star. The hotel is a few blocks away from the beach. The cleaning staff was too lazy to clean because itâs almost end of her shift. A few days later in the morning, I told her that I will be leaving shortly and she can clean the room. However, I came back in the afternoon to find that my room wasnât clean. Later, she came by and then found that we were in the room and opted to leave for the next shift. This was not that pleasant of an experience.

Elevator still broken. Hallways and stairways had a real bad odor. Dog barking all day in one of the rooms. Staff wasnât too welcoming on arrival , wasnât explained the amenities, restaurants etc. Iâll probably choose elsewhere on the next visit.

The staff was very nice and helpful throughout the entire stay. We did get a complimentary room upgrade which was super nice. We loved the 3rd deck restaurant/bar. You have a great view to the Diamond Head while drinking and eating. Everyone there was so nice, too. They have live music day and night. Nothing too loud or crazy so you can still enjoy the views. The pool needs an upgrade, the pool area could be very vibey and cool. Because of that we didn't hang out at the pool not even once. The elevators need to be repaired and better maintained. After all we had a great time at this place and would definitely consider to go again.

This hotel is as the pictures. It is a convenient walk to beach, restaurants and shops. We stayed here at the beginning of our trip and the end of our 12 day trip to the islands. We would stay here again.

I do not recommend staying here if you are anything but a loud obnoxious teenager as they seem to cater to that clientele. Room was smaller and had ants in the bathroom. The hotel staff was the only good part of this experience everyone was nice and accommodating but the hotel and amenities left something to be desired. Also be prepared to wait 20-30 mins for your elevator as 2/3 of them were working the entire stay. I did not enjoy my stay it was truly a place to sleep for maybe a few hours and get out as soon as we could. Donât be fooled by the pictures on here regarding the hotel itself, yes it has a view of diamond head but you can legit see that from
