Not well maintained. No sleep. Go elsewhere.
Bushes rubbing against window sounded like screeching fingernails on a chalkboard all night long.
Bathroom door hinge was unbelievably loud.
There’s no way to use the bathroom without waking your spouse in the middle of the night.
Staff was informed of the issues. We received an apology.

What a beautiful historical hotel! It was comfortable and we were pleased to see they had maintained the authentic style. Loved sitting in wooden rockers on the porch enjoying the views all around! The grounds were impeccably kept!

We had an amazing time celebrating my birthday for 2 days at the Inn. We enjoyed the Sunday dinner and jazz group preforming that night. What a nice time. It would have been nice to have had an elevator. . .but hey -- we only stayed 2 days and it was OK. . .Great time and good personnel all over the property.

When we got to our room the sheets weren’t on the bed. They were painting the rooms there. They quickly placed us in another room.

Historic hotel
Beautiful historic hotel. We had a basic queen room which could have used 2 chairs instead of one. I’m sure the windows are old but they were in need of cleaning. Loved the area and will be back!

In Need of Renovation
It is in need of renovation. I gave it a chance due to its history, however, the bathtub was rusty, paint chipping off the wall, gutters were broken/rusty. Looked more like a motel. Will not be returning until I see better reviews

The buildings and property are well taken care of, there is a wonderful view of the lake. Our room was not so nice, carpet was old and had an impression of an iron on it. there was paint chips from walls and moldings, windows were cracked, corner of closet door and wall was eaten away and had black mold. Small bathroom without a vanity or any place to set down your toiletries. I would not go back.

No early check in available. Actually we sat and had to wait an extra hour till our room was ready. The Inn is in a prime location, and all the fun Stores and Restaurants are within easy walking distance. Our Room had a beautiful view to the Lake.

Historic hotel in a fantastic location.
The location of Lakeside Inn in Mt. Dora is fantastic. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. This is a historic hotel so you cannot compare amenities to that of a new higher end hotel. No USB outlets, no comfort height toliets, etc. However, it does have charm and it is clean. We thought the bed was a little too firm. No coffee maker in the room but complimentary coffee in the lobby. We enjoyed the cozy cocktail lounge, listening to live piano music. All in all, we would stay here again.

Such a beautiful property, that is in need of a major upgrades to the rooms. Windows don't open, noisey doors and walls.Bathroom was nasty with old tub and loose shower faucets. Pubic hairs on the base boards around the toilet, which couldn't flush any amount of toilet paper in one flush. Room smelled in an unfamiliar but not pleasant smell. Very disappointing stay and will find another place to stay when going to Mt. Dora.

The Lakeside Inn is not what it used to be.
When we checked in, they made a mistake on the holding amount on our charge card due to an inexperienced employee. (They are definitely understaffed) We asked if we needed to make a dinner reservation for that evening, as we noticed the parking lots were almost full (not always an accurate measure of guest as the locals use them to visit the shopping areas), but the receptionist said that wouldn't be necessary. I wanted to make them anyway, but the hostess was not to be found. I was given our room key and told we were on the second floor (I have a bad knee and there are no elevators), and all of the 1st floor units were taken. Our building was at the far end of the property and as we searched the second, we realized we were on the third floor. I decided that I didn't want to walk back with all of our luggage, only to find out that upper level units were all that was available, and it was only for one night, so we bit the bullet and carried on. We unpacked and went sight seeing. we returned at 6 pm and went to the restaurant, where we were informed that it was booked until closing (8 pm). We had to go back out to get something to eat. We returned later that evening to find that we had no hot water. (I was told each building has its own tank, and the supply may have been depleted.) The next morning at 6 am I found I had hot water and took a shower. My wife went to shower at 8, and did not have hot water. I guess the other guests emptied the tank. This was not fun.

Christmas time getaway
First time to Mount Dora. Lakeside Inn was like stepping back in time. Enjoyed the locale shops and the restaurants. very relaxing 2-day getaway. The Christmas lights were amazing.

Beware if you book the Lakeside Inn in Mt. Dora through Expedia you WILL NOT get early check in and the $10 voucher for food on premises, but YOU WILL get the room next to the ice machine, vending machines, and exit/entrance doors to the restrooms from the pool. It will be on the first floor with someone in the room directly above you walking on the antique wood floors. We have stayed there before and booked with the hotel and this time was an entirely different experience.

Really enjoyed my stay. This over a 150 year old historic inn is set on the edge of a lake with a veranda extending the entire length of the front. Restaurant service on the veranda or rocking chairs if you just want to chill with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down over the lake. Staff goes above and beyond to be friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and well stocked. Half a block to downtown Mt. Dora which has several celebrations a year. Will definitely stay here again.

Lakeside Inn is an adorable historic hotel. The location cannot be beat! Even though it is historic, it is still quite comfortable. I loved seeing the postcards from the early 1900s on the wall!

We love spending time during the Christmas season. Mt. Dora is such a beautiful place this time of year. We went on a boat tour of the Dora Canal. Highly recommend that. The hotel is beautiful and the staff very accommodating.

Perfect location

Great old hotel with a great location. Hotel management needs to better train front desk staff and servers for hospitality, helpfulness and to pay attention to details. Poor breakfast service, but good food. Carpet badly needs to be replaced in hallway and stairs.

Do NOT understand all the good reviews!! We booked a 2 night stay, Fri./Sat. First off, there are no elevators at any of the cottages, so beware of that. All stairs. The inground pool is not heated. The kitchen seemed to always be backed up, so difficult to dine there. Had breakfast one morning & 2 hour wait at our table. The worst part of this property was the rooms. It took about 15 minutes for the shower to get warm and no water pressure. The tub backed up & shower in standing water. The tub needed to be resurfaced as surface was peeling. The walls are thin and you can hear everything so if you are a light sleeper-forget it. The room was very bare, 1970s laminate wood furniture - one pic on the wall carpet was filthy. This property, with some attention to detail, could be a real gem. My husband could not wait to check out Sun am-we didn't even shower. It was 2:30 pm on Saturday afternoon & room still had not been touched. I heard lots of chatting with the 2 housekeepers who were cleaning the room next to us, but then heard them leaving. I ran out as they were downstairs about ready to exit the building & asked if they were going to clean our room? She came up with one rag - no vacuum, cleaning supplies or anything - to basically just make the bed & give clean towels. Glasses from night before were not picked up, etc. Will not be staying there again! Visit Mt. Dora, stay somewhere else!

Loved the landscaping. Very near to grear shops and restaurants. The restaurant on site was fabulous in terms of decor, service, and the food was delicious!! Downside is the hotel Rooms are plain and the half fridge was noisey. Plus the hallway was also noisey from other guests talking loud and slammimg their hotel room door. Pipes were very loud as well. Glad I packed ear plugs.

We came here to spend our 20yr anniversary and was even more beautiful in person. Beautiful place to relax, explore and reconnect with your partner. We plan to spend every anniversary here from now on and they've got cottages that would be great for a subtle family reunion

Beautiful Historical hotel!
Great 2 night stay to celebrate a birthday! Check in was fast and easy, the property is beautiful and well maintained, and the sunsets over the lake are magnificent! My only complaint, which is subjective is that the bed was too hard. Management should put a topper on the mattress to ease the softness. 😁

Comfortable stay
Stayed for several nights and was very comfortable. The rooms are dated, but that is too be expected with the hotel age. There was a wedding party in our area, they were loud and obnoxious into the night and were starting again the 2nd night. We called the front desk and they immediately offered to move us into another room which was very nice.
We met the owner just before leaving and had a great conversation with him. He was down to earth and outside working on the landscape!

The room was too small. No place to sit. They had the ice bucket and glasses piled up in front of the tv, so everything had to be moved to the night stand. Also the tv didn’t work and someone tried to fix it without success.
No place in the bathroom for toiletries. We wanted to play cards, but not possible. Only one chair and no room for a table.

Very nice property central location to all of mount Dora, extremely satisfied with staff at check in as well as with everyone we came in contact with. Rooms are very clean, the bathrooms are a bit antiquated (obviously) due the hotel’s age but very happy with our stay and will come back soon.

It's just need small details in the rooms. Paint chips in the bathrooms, rust on the medicine cabinets. Dirty carpet on the stairway.Sticky wood floors
Attention to the small details needs to be observed in these homes especially since the rooms are small
But the hotel is super kool and loved the food and the staff

The property is very charming and makes you think of women in long dresses and men in top hats. But the room we had smelled of mold and mustiness. The property has all of this historically interesting features, but the mold smell isn't fun.

Anniversary getaway
It was a beautiful historic place to stay in Mt. Dora. Being in FL for over 35 years and never stopping in Mt. Dora, it was a real treat. Lakeside is part of downtown, and it is on the lake. Everything is walkable from there. Nice natural area nearby.

Keep in mind this is an historic inn so the rooms, etc. are not modern, but they were super clean, the pool overlooking Lake Dora is beautiful and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious too!

The hotel is on a beautiful property overlooking Mt. Dora and the grounds are very pretty. The pool is nice with a bar and overlooks the lake. We had a delicious breakfast on the veranda which was very nice. The buildings are quaint, however, have a very strong musty smell as soon as you walk in. The rooms are basic and small with no extras. I think it’s the first hotel that I have ever been to that did not at least have a coffee maker in the room and a luggage rack. Yet the room and bathroom was very clean. The location is excellent with restaurants and shopping at walking distance. We would go back but only because of the grounds and location.

What lowers our rating on the property was mainly the conditions we were afforded. The bathroom mirror is 4’11” and my 5’ wife along with many other of our friends wife’s could only see the top of their heads. They sat in the closets to do their makeup because there was a door mirror in the inside. My wife sat on a ice chest after she turned on the light bulb with a string. The place is beautiful but I doubt if we ever go back. Very beautiful and great staff. Excellent service.

Lovely old buildings. We have stayed there for over 40 years. The mattresses need replacing and something must be done about the musty smell. The staff we met were kind including Chelsea, Mary, Tripp and Judy. The food was good but the whole place needs a facelift. Old bedding and no place in the bathroom to place your items so we used the window ledge. This could be a jewel but it needs an infusion of funds!!

The property has a beautiful view of the lake. We took the 2 hour cruise of the canal and it was amazing. Ren ninger's, the big antique place, is only open on the weekend but we found another antique/vintage store that did not disappoint. You can watch the sunset from the veranda while you have dinner.

The Lakeside Inn exceeded my expectations! I arrived at around 2am. Jamie greeted me and took good care to make my arrival was very smooth! In the morning, when I woke up, I was so pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the property and the Lake. Be sure to get a Room with a View. It was so delightful to wake up to that view! The manager, Mary, made sure that my experience was simply wonderful! This is the perfect place to Celebrate Life! I had a delicious Breakfast at the Verandah. Again, it too offers a lovely view of the Lake. Easily walkable to all the sites! The Lakeside Inn is the place to stay in Mount Dora. It is aDORAble!
