Purposely booked the two queen room on the executive level that stated the rooms all had bathtubs. This was a gift for my mother-in-law, who does not have a bathtub in her house and upon speaking with her, this had a double vanity with only a shower. This completely defeated the purpose of the gift and very upset.

1st time in Chi-Town
Our stay at the JW Chicago was perfect. It was clean, quiet and centrally located to everything. We will definitely stay here when we come back to Chicago!

Birthday weekend getaway/Mamas weekend away! My girl friend and I enjoyed our stay here.
The customer service was amazing from the concierge to the bell hop and front desk staff.
Loved having a drink at the hotel bar in the evening. Everything was top notch! I loved that our bartender knew so much about the area and different popular destinations from dining to attractions.
Stayed on the fourth floor, and was impressed by the amount of privacy we had in our "hallway." Once exiting the elevator, I used my key card to open a door to another "hallway" that only had two rooms in it. So quaint, so quiet. Loved it!
The beds are so comfortable! Would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel with nice amenities . Gym was really nice with lots of equipment. Lobby and restaurant bars/ restaurants were lively with friendly service and a good selection of food/drink. I did wish that the windows opened in the rooms- we had unseasonably nice weather and it would have been nice to have fresh air.

Bait and Switch
Despite having a pre-paid and confirmed reservation, I never stayed at the JW. The day before my arrival JW said they cannot accomodate my reservation and I was bumped to the Residence Inn, which is not what I paid for.
Just terrible service to be honest.

It was perfect for walking to most dining and also to marathon start and finish which is why we were in town. The room was spacious and beds comfy. I would definitely stay again if coming back to area mostly because of the ease of walking to most locations including millennium park and the art institute.

Room wasnt ready at 5.30pm but staff were extremely pleasant and accomodating. Late check out of 12 is great. Great to have a fridge. (Need more than 2 teabags a day though although they were happy to give me quite a few to keep me going). Pool great! Excellent location and we were amazed at how quiet the rooms were.

Overpriced and mediocre service
This is my second Marriott stay this summer and I am disappointed in their service yet again. It was difficult getting replacement towels (we asked twice and didn’t receive them). The pillows were so soft and flimsy I got a crook in my neck. I almost tripped on two glasses left outside someone’s room for most of the day and finally there was a used bloody Bandaid on the way to the elevator that I had to request they dispose of twice before it was handled. Their saving grace was the service of the bell men who took care of our luggage. I likely won’t be staying at any Marriotts again.

We enjoyed our stay. There were a few maintenance issues that could be addressed for the price of the room. The grout in the tile around the tub and in the shower was falling out and had gaps, the shower leaked water out of the shower every time we would shower to the point water would go over the whole bathroom floor and then become very slippery. My wife almost fell. A variety of coffee creamers would be nice instead of just half and half. The bed was very comfy and clean and we did enjoy our stay.

Birthday Staycation
Overall it was something different to experience compared to my previous experiences in Chicago. The staycation did not meet my expectations or the amount I paid for it. I got an Executive Level room which includes access to the Executive Lounge, but that was literally pointless. When I got in Friday it was not open and when it opened Saturday morning nothing was available to snack on during the light snack time. I had tea again which I already had in the room. The hours for the lounge and what it has to offer is just something to sell those Executive rooms since you don’t get any real perk from it. I had an internal view room which yeah is ridiculous so I kept the curtains closed. The detail in cleaning could have been better. I did not get a robe and slippers and once I asked room service for them when I was receiving my order another guy in brought slipper and gave no explanation. The bathroom sink drain empties pretty slow so mind your water usage. The in-room dining all day options are blah so consider ordering in. One good thing was the noon checkout. Again, it was okay to experience but I would rather try another luxury hotel in the area to have the cost match the experience. If I didn’t decide to go home I would have chose another night elsewhere.

In order to get the two rooms I booked next to each other (I wanted them to adjoin, but wasn’t possible based on room configuration) but just next to each other — I had to pay $90 for an “upgrade”. Both rooms are queens and look very similar; but one room has a two chair seating area. If I didn’t pay the $90 it was “impossible” to have the rooms next to each other.

I give this property an A . Everything about this property was top tier from check in to check out. We arrived a few hours earlier than scheduled check-in time and Basil was more than happy to accommodate us and give us a room right away. He made a few suggestions on where to eat and even offered us an umbrella because it was raining in Chicago the day we arrived. The room was beautiful and spacious. The hotel itself was very clean, and the gym was amazing! I would highly recommend staying here if you’re ever in the Chicago area. I will definitely be returning.

The only thing that I can say bad is the hot tub was closed during our stay. That was one of the main reasons we chose this location. But the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would stay there again, but would just call the property directly next time to confirm everything is in working condition.

We love JW Marriott! It’s a great location as it’s walkable to so many Chicago sites, restaurants & theatre. The rooms are quiet. Breakfast in the executive lounge is yummy! The beds are comfy. And, parking garage access is easy peasy. This is our go to place when visiting friends in Chicago.

Family trip to Chicago!

Checked in Close to 4 PM checked out close to midnight was there for a concert not being familiar with the area me and the girls were in a frantic trying to get to the united center upon returning I noticed that the room was severely dusty and we only had two waters in our room, along with that the beds were very small as to what is the room and for almost $500 a night I totally expected something way better the staff suggested we take the subway as a easier means of transportation however locals suggested that wouldn’t be wise especially for a night return! waited in line 30 minutes for valet to the point that I just got frustrated and self parked in the self parking garage that was pointed out to me by an employee one block away needless to say we carried our bags A block and a half once it was all said and done. when I spoke to management upon check out I was told that because I didn’t address the dust issue upon arrival there was nothing that they could do but add 1000 Marriott Bon avoy points to my account That didn’t happen either. All in all I could’ve visited my local JW Marriott for a much more comforting and relaxing getaway couple minutes down the road. I was just in Chicago a month ago and stayed at the Embassy at least at hotel provided snacks and wasn’t so small of a room!

Fantastic choice in downtown Chicago. Hotel is elegant, beautiful, and functional. Location is great; we walked everywhere we wanted to go downtown. Rooms were comfortable and spacious for a downtown hotel. Bathrooms are beautiful. Bed was extremely comfortable. Will stay here again without question.

BEWARE: BED MISSING on important Business Trip!
Total Russian Roulette for gests I guess! Booked this hotel for my boss. He and an another architect were going on a very important business trip. I choose this hotel because I didn't want anything to go wrong so I decided a recognized reliable Marriott on the downtown should be enough. Clearly I was wrong. They got there late at night after a very long day of meetings and the hotel somehow didn't have a room with 2 Queen beds as it was booked, so basically after much arguing with the staff they were able to get a twin portable bed that was not at all comfortable and charged full price for the reservation. This was extremely embarrassing and unacceptable. Nobody from the hotel reached out to us to let us know the hotel was overbooked or to suggest another option, they did not reimburse any costs either to my knowledge or offered any other sort of compensation. The whole stay was a disaster and I can't believe I thought a name brand like this would be reliable. Will never recommend or book again for business (or any) trips.
FOR THE GM: you need to do a better job with your staff, I used to work at a hotel and I understand it can get overbooked occasionally on busy weekends but we would make sure to call the guests to confirm their reservations before they came, prepare the staff to avoid these situations and make arrangements with other hotels or issue refunds and try to make right by the guest. This is unacceptable and just show JW Marriot Chicago DOES NOT CARE.

A wonderful hotel. Topnotch service from start to finish. The Florentine restaurant is outstanding, from the quality of food to the service to the atmosphere. Be sure to try their branzino fish for dinner! The best fish dish I have ever enjoyed, period. Gym/spa is also outstanding.

Great rooms and the beds are wonderful. The only issue was the wifi was very irritating to get logged into. Took almost 10 min to get connected to the wifi. Also the video on demand in the room kept getting stuck and never really worked.

Very nice hotel with great staff! Wonderful location. We were able to check in at 11 am. Our room was not vacuumed and the tv remote was missing. We had to unplug the tv because we couldn’t shut it off with the buttons on the side of the tv. Didn’t get a remote until the next day. The hot tub had black mold in the filter areas. Overall would be great if they thoroughly cleaned the hot tub and made sure the room is vacuumed in between guests.

This hotel is not safe
This is a warning for anyone thinking of staying at this hotel.
Prior to turning in during my one night stay, I ensured the door was fully closed and the privacy sign was properly displayed.
I was sleeping soundly until I was awakened at approximately 4:00 am by a man entering my room via a key. I was so startled I didn’t say anything as I sat up in bed. The intruder left my room soon after. Chalking it up to an honest mistake by hotel security i laid back down only to have the intruder enter a second time! I yelled at him to get out of my room and he answered with an apology and left again.
As I went to the door to try to get a look at him I could hear him entering room after room all down my hall. I engaged the safety latch on the door and went back to sleep with the intention of speaking with hotel management the next morning. I didn’t call security at the time because my night had been disrupted enough.
When I spoke with the front desk that morning they seemed quite alarmed, took my phone number and promised a call back from the manager which never came.
The hotel had every chance to investigate this and find out how someone with an all access key was entering rooms that night, but best I can tell they did nothing.
Very upsetting and very disappointed by their lack of response. They clearly don’t have good oversight of all access keys which makes me wonder how many other times has this happened.

Stayed with family over the weekend. Many of the restaurants around the hotel were closed (either for the weekend or maybe due to COVID.) The area is definitely more for the financial district clients.
It's right next to an El stop though, so you can get anywhere pretty quickly.
There often seemed to be queue for the elevators (up and down), so build that into your expectations.
Very nicely appointed rooms and bedding.

Very happy with our 4 night stay at this hotel. Close to pretty much everything, just a quick ride on the CTA or if you rather take an Uber it is also economical. I didn't use the gym but you have to cross it to get to the pool (directions to the pool could be more clear but a quick call to guest services fixed that) and it is very nice for a hotel gym. Only thing I didn't like was the pool isn't warmed. Very, very cold water. Overall I'm very satisfied and would stay again.

The hotel is perfectly located and walking distances to several points of interest. Room was spacious and beds were comfortable. Overall the hotel and staff were very nice.
Would like to recognize Eric at the concierge desk, the bar staff, the young lady taking orders for room service and the young lady at the front desk . All were very pleasant, professional and accommodating. A few things to point out for the hotel - nothing major.
1. Room service - had to follow up on a few requests made as things were not delivered or no communication received if my request could not have been completed. A few things were never delivered. (minor things).
2. No drinking glasses, microwave (like other rooms), plastic bags for ice bucket, no spare toilet paper and comforters were different on the beds (again nothing major).
3. No documentation or communication on where to find things (ie food menu on tv) and other services.
4. No towel rods by sink or tub - odd.
5. Freezer compartment was frozen shut. Couldn’t use.
Overall I would return to the hotel.

Beautiful hotel, right next to the Sears Tower/Willis Tower. Nice city views. We did a girls weekend getaway with our 11 year olds and they were impressed. Service was lovely and they offer a pool and workout room. The chlorine scent was a little strong in the pool. Other than that, everything else was perfect.

Nice property but poor amenities. No microwave in room had to pay 30 dollars per day if one is needed. The restaurant inside hotel understaff had to wait 35 mins at the bar for a cup of coffee. Just over priced overall.
