We not ever stay here again.
I would probably never want to book here again. Although the staff was friendly, the problem was with the rooms. Not only when I went to step into the elevator, there's a dip, and I fell into the elevator, and threw all my things had to pull myself back up and went to my room I was very confused because it was so small and I had booked a deluxe room and then it smell like somebody has been smoking terribly in there. Also, the window would not shut so it was freezing cold. I had to go downstairs and change rooms and even the new room also had this sort of lingering smell of like a Vegas room of smoke. And each night we stayed in our room we kept getting this terrible cough from the air vents settlement in her chest that we were breathing in. We also had people going from door-to-door asking if people were smoking in the rooms , I wanted to enjoy my stay here and I was taking one of my best friends to this place, but I will never stay here . Also, Quik tip the food in the diner. Downstairs was really awful.

Love it! Comfortable bed and pillows room comes with a robe and slippers. I’m a sucker for good bedding. Staff was really nice. Check in and check out was super easy. Wish they had vending machines for late night snacks but I definitely will be back.

A Comfortable Christmas Weekend!
My husband and I did a christmas weekend in the city. Our room looked brand new, very clean and modern. The best part was the bed, SUPER comfortable. Honestly, after a full day of doing things, cocktails, dinner and a show, all I really care about is a good night's sleep. Loved the location too, we had a beautiful view of the lake and planetarium.

Really happy
I was worried our stay was going to be disappointing based on the large number of poor reviews but it was quite the contrary. Yes the hall ways were narrow but I wouldn’t have noticed had it not been called out. The lobby and restaurant were gorgeous as was our double queen room on the 14th floor. Everything in the room, which was no less spacious than hotels we’ve stayed at on this trip with far less space constraints, was modern & clean. And there was plenty of hot water. The fridge was super cold. A king room we visited next to ours had a replica Eames lounge chair and ottoman!
The ‘view’ was somewhat disappointing. When we booked the room on hotels.com there was an option for ‘city view’ and just ‘view’ which was $3 more. We opted for that one on the off chance it was really a lake view. But we just looked into the windows of the adjacent hotel. No big deal.

Awful Check In
The check in hostess was extremely unprofessional she took a 100$ from the card. I showed her thst it had come through from the bank she said they didn’t have it. Then she was very unhelpful and when I asked to talked to the manager she was mocking me. The manager asked me to leave the incidentals in cash and then next day they took 17$ in hotels fee but then they wanted me to pay it in Tyler card instead of the cash they had bcs they didn’t have change. Very annoying.

Horrible customer service. Booked a room with 2 beds, was provided a room with single bed upon arrival.. they were very rude at front desk.. after lot of arguments they said they’ll make the stay complimentary.. never received a refund… effectively I paid them extra money just to sleep on chair and then get to hospital next day with back pain…

There really was only one thing I found a little much, and that was the price to valet my car. Other then that my stay was amazing. I probably got the best nights sleep I’ve had ever. The rooms were immaculate. The front desk staff are delightful and helpful. And the building is very easy to spot when walking back from Soldier Field.

Enjoyed my stay
Staff was so nice and helpful. Rooms were nice and clean. But I will suggest getting a room with a view so you can open the curtains. My room was next to an apartment high-rise and you can literally see inside the rooms.

I bit small but just enough! Very nice staff. The walls are somewhat thin I could hear action during the night (if you know what I mean ). The best part for me was the shampoo and conditioner they smelled amazing! Over all I would recommend if your going to solder Field stadium, 20 min walk. They're a public parking is cheaper than the hotel . It was a nice experience.

I booked four nights through Expedia. On the last day, when I was about to check out I was charged with resort fees, when I asked about that, they told me that the hotel also gives $15 credit to use for food inside hotel to offset resort fees. I never received it for even single night, when I told them that, they said “sorry about it and we will refund you credit card for $15 for every day”. About months passed and I called them to see the status of this, today they told me that they have given me the credit and I have used hence they are not going to refund me, this was totally untrue as no one told me about it not anyone given me credit for it. Extremely furious that they are totally making this up!!!

Overall, very nice property. The only complaint I have is that our window looked directly into the adjacent condos. Otherwise, the room was very clean and updated. The bar downstairs had very good cocktails.

The staff was very friendly. As soon as we walked into our room a clean scent hit our noses. My only compliant, which really isn’t a huge deal and did not take away from my rating, is there was no fitted sheet on the bed just a flat sheet and it kept moving and my body would touch the mattress protector and I didn’t like that feeling. I would definitely stay here again.

Staff was great and very accommodating. Restaurant which was not owned and operated by hotel was easily accessible and had great food. Jesus and the front desk staff was excellent. Wish there was a gift shop in the lobby but there were several stores in the area to obtain any essentials needed. Rooms were clean but a little tight. Excellent location would stay again.

The a/c in the room only blew in one spot and didnt circulate throughout, so it got somewhat stuffy when we were sleeping. Other than that, the hotel was beautiful, friendly, and clean.

My room specifically was very dirty. Shower had water spots and hair in it, bed sheets were moved around like they were previously slept in. The room we originally purchased was a city view, with a king size suite. We ended up getting here from traveling all day and we got put in a different room even after ours was reserved. We’re not too happy with this or the customer service we’ve been given.

Le Meridian Essex never fails to be a great place to stay when we move our child in or out of college or when we visit. The hotel is fantastic and the staff is very helpful and kind. It is close to Columbia College, restaurants and transportation. We love the $15 credit for the restaurant - either to use at breakfast or happy hour.

First time here, won't be the last.
First time staying here and it was great - location was perfect to access Northerly Island on foot, plus the Museum Campus. The Art Institute was a 10-15 minute walk as well. Hotel was clean, comfortable and staff was excellent.

Rooms are decent size and modern. The location is fantastic and close to all the attractions and public transport. The housekeeping is not regular and our room did not get cleaned while we were there for 3 nights in spite of asking the cleaning staff and the front desk. Overall experience is frustrating when you see a dirty room returning from day long outing.

I loved absolutely everything about my stay at the Le Meridien Essex Chicago!
From the warm greeting, the stylish lobby, comfortable and extremely clean room & bathroom, and gracious response to my requests, my mother and I had an amazing trip. Everyone from the manager to the front desk to the valet and the housekeepers was friendly, helpful, and responsive.
The hotel restaurant was surprisingly excellent. Instead of the overpriced yet underimpressive food usually found in hotel restaurants, I had one of the best filets I've ever enjoyed, and breakfast choices were great.
The location was great, and accessible to everything we wanted to do while visiting.
You've won me over - I will never stay anywhere else in Chicago!

The staff were excellent, courteous and professional. Especially LaLani at the front desk and Victor in the cafe. The only issue we had was that there were not enough towels in our room for two people. The staff were prompt in bringing extras when requested.
The price of parking was a bit high. We paid $150 (total for two nights.) And we never moved the car. We could have stayed an extra day at that rate.
Overall, we would recommend the hotel to others and stay there again.

Bistro cook overcooked the filet. Told the server about it but no apology. Asked the server if she told the mgr and the reply was yes. Manager never came to table nor was there any discount applied to both parties of which each of us had filet. Lot of money for two almost burned steaks that should have been med well.

Nice stay but will choose somewhere else next time
The room was nice, semi small for how the picture made it look, felt very cramped and we aren't big people so I could only imagine if we were heavy set or something. Shower was nice, again bathroom was small for how they made it look in the pictures, wasn't much space for our personal items, smaller ledge worked ok we suppose. When they offered valet we were told it was $75 for our stay which sounded great, however upon checking out it was $75 a night for them to park our car in a parking garage we could have paid $36 a night to park in. I would recommend just parking your vehicle yourself. So after our $168 bill just to park we decided next time to stay in a nicer hotel that had cheaper parking or park in a garage ourselves.

Staff was amazing, Marcus at the front always greeted us with chocolates! Very helpful staff, and hotel was clean, modern and felt very safe. Great walking distance to Millenium park and all the museums. My only issue was we were a family of four and the rooms were too small for us and our 3 bags of luggage. Aside from that everything was spectacular. Their gym even had a peloton which was plus for me!

While the staff in the lobby was without exception, accommodating and professional, the cleaners had loud conversations in the hallway every morning on my floor and played loud music. I dined at the hotel restaurant three times for brunch but all three times ended up sending my plates back because the steak was over cooked to the point of being inedible

This was a return stay. Our first time was so good we circled back. This time we didn't get our towels or beds serviced. The price was a lot higher--we found out later that a famous musician was giving a concert. The tub was slippery, and warning, the rooms are very small.
Still, it is a lovely location and parking is easy. It is easy to uber from here.
I missed the feeling of warmth and specialness we got our first time. Jesus, our concierge, was off for the weekend, which is part of it.

Arrived and there was NO parking available at the hotel as stated on their website and Hotels.com. We also ended up in a room with 1 bed, when we booked a room with 2. Paid a lot of money for two VERY big things go wrong!

The room was nice but you can tell it wasn’t cleaned properly. There was dirt on the ground in the corners bathroom. Remotes should have covers and changed or available to customers.

The staff was very pleasant. I know it’s hard these days for hotels to provide the same service and room cleaning they used to provide, but they need to make it clear how often I should expect such service. I was a guest for 7 days, but it took 3 phone calls before I was able to get more than a couple of towels and an empty waste basket.
