First, I want to say that I am aware that this is not a luxury hotel. It’s a budget friendly establishment. Upon checking into our room, We noticed that the room was dirty and we found what appeared to be blood stains on the sheets of the mattress. there was a lot of grime throughout the room. we proceeded to speak with the front desk manager on duty. The manager offered another room, but what can we expect after finding the first room in such a horrible condition? I instead respectfully asked for a refund the management refused to issue a refund stating that it was against hotel policy. It is clear that the management of this hotel does not focus on customer service. Instead of understanding the situation and making an exception, they stood by their decision of not giving me a refund, I lost the money that I paid for the stay and I was forced to book a room elsewhere which cost me more money. This is unacceptable. I do not recommend anybody staying at this Hotel.

Great location, wonderful employees, everyone was extremely kind & helpful. Our room was very clean and stayed cool. Beds were very comfortable! Pillows were also comfortable!!! We will definitely bring stay here again. Sad to go home… we felt so at home at Kuhio Banyan Club. Thank y’all for making us feel so at home.

Good location and good value
We booked almost last minute and didn't spend that much time in the hotel. The location was good for us--a pleasant walk to the beach though the market, close to lots of restaurants and shopping, and on several bus routes. No place to park a car, so no point in renting one. The shower was too small and there's no place to put your soap/shampoo. The soap holder is tilted so everything slides right out. My guy hit his head trying to pick up his shampoo. Put in a hanging caddy!! It's a bit too close to the club scene. Thursday-Saturday night music until 3-4am. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The kitchen had a fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker and the cookware and dishes etc. for eating in. The hotel provided beach towels and boogie boards. The employees were pleasant and helpful.

This is our second time staying at this property and we will return. We love the location. The staff is extraordinarily friendly, and we found our room to be clean and imperfect order each time we’ve stayed. The property is an older property and does not have many of them amenities that others do, but this property is in a perfect location and has a perfect price. We would definitely recommend this to someone looking for a nice budget friendly Stay in Waikiki.

I was supposed to stay two weeks but after one night I decided to check out. I offered to pay for the one night I stayed. The front desk said I had to put an additional hold of 250 for smoking and over 500 for damages which would be returned at check out. I was also told that in 72 hours I would have my answer about my refund for the 13 days I didn't stay and the almost 800 additional holds on my credit card. The 500 wasn't returned I am still awaiting for the 250 and the remaining 13 days of my stay. I grew up in Hawaii and this is the worst form of ALOHA I have ever seen! Never again! To top it off a roach run across the bathroom floor! A crooked operation!

Location, location, location! Obviously you pay for what you get and this isn’t a 5 star resort but I think location is the most important thing when your travelling. All you need is a clean place to sleep which this was. It was clean (except for 3 bugs) and the bed was quite comfy. Hot water in the shower, a small kitchenette with everything you need. The bed is in the living room so it is quite small but it was fine for us. There’s a nightclub literally right beside which is super fun and don’t worry you don’t hear any noise coming from it. There’s a huge mall right across the street, and tons of restaurants everywhere. The beach is an 8 mins walk and actually we walked everywhere. Everything is super accessible from this place. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. There is wifi (even tho it doesn’t mention it on the listing) and the laundry is shared. One thing that I didn’t like was there’s no balconies! Aside from that a great place to stay if your looking to save money and to be located around everything.

Give it a shot!
This is a great hotel to stay at because it is in the center of it all. If you are planning to use the room just for sleep. Location and ease is the best but bed wise its a fold out so not the greatest but not super awful. Also had a little bit of ants but not unmanageable.
The hotel is also not super cold but the a/c is pretty okay.

The stay started off with the property asking for 20 more than the amount Hotels.com said they would collect at check in. The property said it’s Hotel.com’s fault for using an outdated amount. I was too tired to argue and this was a lesson learned, not to use both companies.

The only thing that i did not like is the little roaches in the kitchen and bathroom. The room was clean and well maintained, but the smell of bug spray on the bed and the roaches kinda bothered me. I was afraid of bringing them home with me. Everything else was fine. There was no maid service, which i wasnt told of.

We were on a budget, but honestly. Exceeded my expectations, this hotel is so central to everything! It’s right behind a major mall, just a short walk to the beach, a free night club you get into right next door (if you’re into Latin/hip-hop), and so much public transportation around (we literally went to and from the airport via bus, and just about anywhere with a day pass you can buy across the street)! Hospitality is on another level, we were able to drop off luggage before check-in, and they also offered to store our luggage after check-out if needed. Not to mention they provide beach supplies (towels, chairs, floaties, boogie boards, umbrellas) by offering/ asking! Loved, 10/10 recommend.

We were surprised with the amenities in the room. The kitchen was very nice although we didn’t get much chance to use it. Complimentary coffee was much appreciated. The living area was quite spacious when the Murphy bed was tucked away. Only thing I didn’t like was how many mirrors face the bed (for superstitious reasons.)

I was very much disappointed that this was apparently a timeshare “resort” property. Most notably, many of the staff personnel tended to talk down to me. My last straw was when a day security guard scolded me when not securing a door behind me. I had to report such lack of professionalism. I had to explain to them that I was a customer and not his enemy.

It was fine not too good not too bad the neighbourhood was nice not the place. They charged a 250 holding deposit which was annoying. They don’t have a bedroom but a bed that you have to pull out of the wardrobe literally so was not that happy.

Location is great and central to everything in Waikiki. The doors to the Murphy cupbourd did not close. Draws were not straight and draw properly. Kitchen old and shower needs updating. Refrigerator even at a maximum setting was not cold.

Hole in a wall
Last minute one day add on to our long 8 night trip. We decided to get a cheap hotel and found Banyan. The property is very outdated, the bed was one of those wall pull-down. There was a kitchen for cooking, small fridge, and the bathroom did not have a vent and there’s a window above the shower to the outside. I felt like I was in the Philippines, but expectations weren’t high.
Although the quality of the hotel is not to standard, I appreciate the fact that it is located right across from many small & big restaurants. After our first night stay, we relocated to our planned stay at a local resort and I have to tell you, we walked 15 mins just to get back to this area.
I also appreciate the fact that they provide beach chairs, umbrella, coolers, etc for free!! Our high paid resort charges for such items. Hence, once again, 4 star.

The property overall is clean. But if you have a rental car, it is impossible to find parking. We literally drove around for 30 minutes trying to find someplace to park with in three blocks. Without having to pay $50. the fixtures in the shower were loose. There is nowhere to sit anything Soap, shampoo, etc. The staff was friendly and helpful but if you were looking for luxury, this is not for you. If you were looking for a room that is clean and keeps you dry and cool to sleep this will meet your expectations. Remember you get what you pay for.

We stayed 1 night on a layover from Seattle on our way to Fiji and 2 days on our return to Seattle. The staff are friendly and amazingly helpful. Rooms are clean, well appointed with a small kitchenette, good AC, and a Murphy bed you pull down or store away, full size sofa, a chair, abs a TV (we never used). Surprisingly, the nearby night club never disturbed our sleep! The location in Waikiki made for easy walking to the beach, International Marketplace, many restaurants, etc. The Bus has a stop about 1/2 block from the property with easy access to Ala Moana Mall ($3 per person one way). We used to live in Honolulu and we felt like we were returning home. Will certainly stay here again and again when we travel to Fiji via Honolulu!

Wasnt sure Id like the place before I stayed, mostly because if the location, but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were all great, but I especially liked Jason. He was an awesome ambassador to not just the Kuhio Banyan, but Hawai'i in general. Loved the room. Murphy bed plus couches and full kitchenette. Had one night issue with the club downstairs being too loud, but the staff got on it and let them know it was unacceptable. No more problems after that. Definitely staying here again next time Im in O'ahu.

Needed a place in Honolulu that was inexpensive and allowed for a late check in. Just needed a place to rest on our multi-country trip. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was basic, but clean with a basic kitchenette. Kuhio Banyan Club is conveniently located near to markets & restaurants and only a block from Waikiki beach. But there is a nightclub in close proximity that can get a bit loud, fortunately our room was furthest away. Will stay again on our return trip home!

No parking anywhere around hotel. Had to park 3 plus blocks away. No maid service. Security person was just in a bad mood daily. 15 minutes of running water just to get Luke warm water. And they DID NOT CARE. Better to book with a different hotel.

Negatives: weak a/c unit (but it never stopped trying), murphy bed required a bit of muscle to lower and raise.
Positive: convenient walking to all of Waikiki with trolley & TheBus stops close by for farther journeys. Kitchen made it easy to snack and feel "at home".
Staff were all friendly, welcoming, and helpful. If travelers don't "need" amenities like swimming pool or lanai/balcony this is good option.

There were ants in the room. If we were supposed to take care of our own garbage and towels, no one told us where to go with it.

We had a great experience at Kuhi Banyan Club. They even let us use beach chairs and towels and an ice chest to yake to the beach. The set up in our room was kind of weird. The wueen bed came down of the wall. And the tv was behind the bed so you couldn't watch tv when you were lying down. Also hotel has no parking garage and there was never any parking around a 2 block radius. And if you found one it was only a 2hr spot. And cost 6 dollars got 2 hours. So we went thruogh about 3 rolls of quarters just for parking. What we should have done was rent a car for one day and hit all the places that were a little farther, like north shore and the dole plantation. Everything else is pretty much in walkind distance. The hotel was in the middle of everything, which was awesome. We had awondeeful experience

The property is old, at first I was a little surprised by how old and outdated it was. Once we got comfortable we actually enjoyed this place it was full of character and we actually enjoyed that it wasn’t a fancy resort. It was a comfortable place to sleep shower and rest a little. They why helpful with showing is how to park in the area.

This place was amazing! It’s not a new property with all new amenities. It’s a quaint spot right in the heart of Waikiki. Literally next to everything you need. Stores, shopping, transportation and the beach. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The room is small and a little old, however we only slept in the room and didn’t spend any time just hanging around in there. If you’re a traveler on the go, it’s perfect!

The fellow at reception was very friendly and handled the check in expeditiously. They set a room for luggage storage for guests coming in early and late flight departures was a plus, since check out was at 10am and flight at ten pm. Location for this hotel was the best.
cons: having to pay for coffee packets after your initial complimentary pack is depleted was chinsy. one free pack for four days is cheap. The handle on the shower was flimsy and hard to adjust the right temperature.

I really liked the spacious lay out of the room. The kitchen is more than adequate.

Yes, this hotel is dated and the room had a stuffy smell when I first got in but that quickly subsided with the AC on. You’ll be right in the heart of Waikiki within walking distance to the beach and tons of other attractions.
The staff were great. And I was able to check in early after an overnight flight; much appreciated!

It is a great hotel with regard to rooms, amenities, friendly staff, and access to downtown Waikiki, but with a nightclub on the first floor that is open until 4 in the morning, with the walls virtually vibrating from the beat of the music and DJ's voice... it unfortunately negates all the truly excellent qualities of the hotel. There is not sufficient silence to sleep till about 4:15am. If you like staying up that late, it might very well be the perfect hotel for you, as noise all night long is truly the only drawback.
It might be useful for the hotel to (as a point of good business) put fresh earplugs in each room so that their guests can sleep.

When considering all the things that the hotel has control of, Kuhio Banyan Club has all the elements to make a stay in Waikiki convenient. The kitchenette outfitted with pots and pans and silverware, etc, along with the living room and Murphy bed setup is great. The staff is friendly and seem to care about their customers' experience. The only downside (and it is a big one) which is outside the hotel's control, is because of the extremely convenient location - it is ridiculously noisy all night long. it is not quiet until sometime between 3am and 5am. There are drunken people screaming outside in the street, horns honking, music... there is a nightclub on the ground floor... the volume of noise is extraordinary and it goes on virtually all night long. But the amenities are quite nice. So if you are deaf or have effective ear plugs, or don't plan on sleeping, this place is great.

Very affordable place to stay. Easy access to the beach, bus and many choices for food and entertainment ( I wouldn't include the bar connected to this hotel, rough crowd there). My only two problems here is the TV in room couldn't watch in bed because was located in shelf next to the bed headboard and the loud noice related to the bar. I will for sure restay here

Overall, good place to stay. The place is dated, but clean. You’ll be out most of the time anyways. Murphy bed is surprisingly comfortable! Spacious rooms. 7mins walk to the beach. 5 minutes to all the high end shops on Kalakaua Avenue. Right across the street from 2 shopping centers. Lots of places to eat right outside the hotel. Good security overnight. Friendly staff.

We had to pay 50 dollar for arriving the hotel later than 10 pm which was not written anywhere under amenities. We also weren't aware of extra charges of property fee which was 150 dollars on top if it. So be mindful booking this hotel.

Room was very dated, but clean and had a well equipped kitchenette. The comfort of the Murphy bed was just okay. There is a nightclub underneath this hotel that is open until 4am. I was on the third floor and the noise was definitely audible, but not loud enough to keep me up all night.

While it was right in the middle of Waikiki and conveniently near shops and transportation, it was loud with local entertainment late into the night and no parking available. If you are REALLY lucky, you can find street parking on the canal road about half a mile away.
The resort fee was steep, like all other places nearby, but we did utilize many types of beach equipment they had available.
