Our room was lovely and cozy. It would have been nice if there had been a mini fridge as we ended up with left overs from restraunts that were hard to keep and no place to store cold beverages. Bed was super comfy, shower was amazing!

Fairly roomy for Midtown; garish decor with orange and steely colors and metals; room clean and manageable with the exception of a safe that did not work and metal legs on bed-frame on which i tripped 10-12 times; quiet, remodeled hotel without many niceties; located by Broadway and Colbert, close to Lincoln Center.

Overall the staff was amazing! They even gave us extra Umbrellas when it rained, left waters in the room, fresh towels, cleaned and so on. The location was great, it’s not right in the middle of time scare but close enough. Which is actually good. There was some construction going on during our time so it was loud. There was a mouse in the hotel when we went to go look for the gym. The gym is a little small but it does the job. The hotel is a little older you can tell by the bed frame. Also nothing on TV but CNN… no thanks. There is a bakery down the street called Angelina that’s Italian I believe. Their pastries are amazing expect to pay $6-7 for a croissant but they are amazing. Basically this hotel is in an amazing location. The staff is amazing, such nice people. The cleaning is a little lacking but not unbearable, talking about a hair in the shower, mirror stain. Nothing crazy. 9/10 I’d stay and recommend this place again.

Our first impression of the hotel was Jeff, the bellman. He genuinely went above and beyond to provide the most excellent service. He immediately made arrangements for our bags to be delivered, and then made sure all the transportation after our stay was booked. We had a seamless check in even though we were early and only expecting to drop our bags. Every person we encountered at the hotel was accommodating and kind. Our room, on the fourth floor, was quiet and incredibly clean. The hotel is within walking distance of many major sites, but also just far enough away from the chaos of times square. There is a lot of great food, and entertainment, within walking distance. I wpikd highly recommend this hotel.

Room was nice and spacious but horribly located as it was super noisy and almost impossible to sleep until we bought earplugs. Our room was street side and directly above the subway station. The first night we were woken up by NYC garbage trucks directly underneath our window which kept beeping and moving garbage for what seemed like an eternity. Then there was the very loud rumbling of the subway station and the train every few minutes. I know this is not the fault of the hotel, but customers should be warned about this before being placed in those rooms on street side. I liked the hotel and staff but not sure I'd stay here again due to noise.

The room is very small but comfortable. The bathroom is a good size. The location is perfect for Times Square, theaters, Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Center, Columbus Circle. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Coffee and tea served in the lobby each morning.

The hotel is in a terrific location for walking to theaters, Central Park, shops and restaurants! Cool hotel, great staff. The windows in our room were SOoooo drafty that the heater ran constantly and the room was still cool. The bathroom was like a walk in freezer… no kidding. My toothpaste froze. We kept our leftovers in there and the temp was perfect for that! Next time we will stay here during the summer and elsewhere in the winter.

Really enjoyed the vibe of this hotel. It was close to everything, clean, and friendly. The only thing not so great was all of the loud noise outside the window late at night ....but I cannot blame that on the hotel!

Best value in NYC
I think the Ameritania is the best hotel for the money in all NYC--especially for a theatre trip--location perfect, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Everything was spic-and-span, and they left extra bottles of water every day.

We live how convenient the location is to use the subway and walk around the touristic areas in Manhattan Times Square and Broadway.
Even thou there was a mouse in our room we were so comfy that we stayed in the room for the rest of the trip.

Lobby is very nice. The fireplace area is a joy. The keycards for room locks and elevator access are problematic. All the other guests were mystified. The morning showers with lukewarm water are unpleasant in the wintertime.

A delightful stay. The price was very good for midtown, the location (Broadway & 54th) is right in the theater district,the room was clean and (compared to others I've stayed at in the neighborhood) pretty spacious. GREAT STAFF! Friendly folks at the desk, a friendly and helpful doorman named Jeff, free coffee and tea in the morning and apples in the afternoon. I will definitely copme back!

As we were in a taxi from the airport into the city, we were told we were being moved to their “sister hotel just a block away.” That hotel was small with no amenities. We were sent the block away in the rain. Stay was adequate, but not what we signed up for.

This is our second time staying. Excellent location. You can easily walk to central park or Times Square within ten minutes. Very walkable with many restaurants, pubs and bars nearby. There is even a comedy club and $1 slice pizza on the same street. All of the staff is consistently attentive, quick, helpful and warm.
The rooms are a good size however the space between the tv and the bed is very, very tight. Generally I wouldn't consider this an issue but due to the tight space and the bed frame that sticks out quite a bit further than the mattress, my husband fractured his toe on our way out in the morning. We unfortunately had to cut our trip short. Please be careful when walking between the bed and tv so you don't have to cut your trip short too!

Where can I start!!! Worst experience we have ever had.
The place literally looks like a jail. The bathroom are dirty the noise and construction was bad we couldn’t even sleep. Construction started at 5:30 am till 5:00 6:00 pm.
I would like to leave - 5 not even 1 star.

For the price in that area, it was fine but could definitely step it up a notch. It’s worn but being remodeled, which should be a good thing. However, we finally had to complain about the incessant door slamming by the maintenance staff as they worked on the room adjacent to ours. I will say, however, that the manager addressed it and it immediately stopped. The in-house bar is closed. The staff person on duty our last night was incorrect about the baggage storage policy; she quoted it incorrectly after we had been told otherwise by the manager, causing a bit of inconvenience for us (we wanted all of our big bags downstairs waiting for our 5:15AM car to the airport but were told there would be a fee even though we had not checked out of the hotel).

The room was extremely hot even though the thermostat was set to 70, the room wouldn’t cool down, I set the thermostat to automatic so it could cool down and the AC sounded like an old car so I could not sleep at all. I opened the window to cool it down so I spent all night trying to get comfortable

Very fast trip. Just overnight. Hotel was nice. Room was very nice, clean and comfortable; but the window blind would not work. So I closed the drapes which blocked the window air conditioner.

Overall great! Friendly staff, great location, decent sized room for NYC. Friendliest bellhops I have ever seen.
Only negative, no top sheet on the bed and comforter was slightly yellow so would have liked the option of a top sheet. An extra towel and washcloth would have been nice too. Only 1 washcloth provided. Our room was also hot (in December). We lowered the thermostat but it still stayed in the 70's which was warm overnight.
But I would definitely recommend. This trip was my daughter (21) and me around Christmas.

Location was good and room was small but clean and modern. It was just me and my daughter so the small space worked fine. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable. Housekeeping came each day. Plenty of restaurants a few steps away. Walls a little thin so you could hear people talkin in the halls and the bar/restaurant next door but thankfully no one was loud in our hall to bother us and restaurant went silent about 11pm. Reception was very nice gave my daughter a small stuffed animal. No complaints would stay again!

We stayed here for a Christmas tour of New York. It was amazing. The hotel was so nice and very well appointed, modern and clean. The staff were great and very helpful. The Dorman was amazing with the luggage and answering questions. The location is great with lots of restaurants and bars, nearby subway is less than one block And it’s about six blocks to get to Times Square and Broadway. Great location for all your touristy destinations. Would definitely stay here again.

Comfort, convenience, and a great staff
I would definitely recommend the Ameritania. So close to everything in midtown Manhattan (Lincoln Center, Central Park, dining, shopping... you name it). You will understand after you enjoy the best of the city and get back to your clean and comfortable room.

We had an absolute great stay. In the heart of it all. We were within walking distance to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Radio City and Central Park. It was perfect. The room was nicely designed, clean and the bedding was so comfortable. Staff was friendly, available and helpful. We went with another couple and we were all thoroughly satisfied. We will all stay again. Great location, great price, great stay!

Property was a great value. Great location. Beds a little soft for my liking, but that is my personal preference. Rooms were clean and spacious for NYC. Doorman very helpful and friendly. Only complaint was the lobby smelled of mildew every day of our 3 day stay. It was only the lobby, the rest of the hotel was fine.

The room was spacious (for NYC) and it was very convenient - close to most things in NYC. But the checking in was not pleasant - the 'system was down' at the beginning and then we were ignored for hours on end. The bathroom and room showed many signs of wear and tear - sink was cracked, wallpaper was peeling etc. The coffee was the worst I've ever had anywhere in the world and when I mentioned that it could do with less water the receptionist said there was nothing that could be done (of course there could - don't water it down to nothing!). Overall, not worth the very high price.

Overall very : room was extremely clean vs any hotel stay in recent years. Towel and sheets smelled like they just came out of the dryer. Small room even by NY standards, but we were not there except to sleep, shower, etc. the only issue was the too was extremely HOT..78 degrees. AC was too noisy to keep on so we opened window in room and bath to cool off room each evening. When I mentioned this to staff as I checked out, just as an fyi, so they took off my extra charges which unexpected.

Great location! Was within walking distance to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, etc. Lots of dining options nearby for quick bites or sit down restaurants. The hotel was clean, and staff was very friendly. A few cons - The rooms are older and definitely show wear, and the 1/2 door on the shower was not ideal because water sprayed out into the rest of the bathroom. But the beds were really comfortable and again the room was very clean. Also, we left very early in the morning and the hotel arranged for a driver we could hire to take us to the airport, which was really handy. So a good experience and can’t beat the location!

This is the second time that I have stayed at this small boutique hotel. The rooms are small but how much time are you going to spend in the room? This is New York where there is so much to see. This hotel is within walking distance of the theaters but far enough away from the chaos of Times Square. The staff are welcoming and very helpful.
