No rest
The front desk attendant was taking a shower when I arrived. A family was already waiting and trying to reach her. When I checked in she was very rude and kept repeating the same phrase even when I clearly said I understand. She even gave me a very disgusting room after marking a nicer one. I have had a better experience here with the day attendant. None the less, I am never coming back.

we seriously considered leaving. there were only two cars there. the place was locked down. Seedy neighborhood. More like a no-tell motel.
Since it was late and prepaid we stayed and it turned out ok. Adise skipping this place even though it was very cheap. Jim

Understand you are getting a fabulous bargain it is a great value for the money.
My main complaint was that if the heater/AC was on you got a musty smell. They need to clean the unit and change the filter. I told them at the front desk as I was leaving and they were very nice about it.

We arrived and they said they only had smoking rooms (despite our reservation for non-smoking room). They also said they would not respect our Expedia reservation, so we would have had to pay again. We left.

Horrible stay
We booked a 2 night stay in an Econo Lodge with complimentary breakfast. When we arrived at the property, we had a hard time finding it, as it is no longer an Econo Lodge, and it was dark and rainy. Upon checking in (the front door was locked and we had to wait for someone to come open it and let us in), we saw a sign that breakfast is not being served due to Covid spikes in the area.
The place is very rundown, and we could spell cigarette smoke from another room when we used the bathroom fan.
Upon checkout, no one answered the door (locked again) so that we could return the key cards.

Couldn't understand staff due to language barrier. Also my 1st room was canceled without notice. I had to have my friend jump thru hoops because my room was canceled. Even me showing the confirmation email saying that my card was still charged.

The room was modern and clean, and had everything we needed for a 2 night stay. It's located in proximity to many stores and fast food restaurants.
The exterior is not maintained and the grounds are weedy and deteriorated. There is no EconoLodge sign on the road to indicate where to turn, so be sure to use navigation to find it. We could hear evidence of the people in the next room talking, so the walls are pretty thin. We wouldn't go out of our way to stay here again, but their prices do beat other chains in the area by quite a bit.

I’m not sure how this place is even able to stay open.
Too many negatives to get into in this space. Suffice it to stay, I didn’t feel comfortable staying there with my son and since we already paid in advance we just left and stayed at a different motel.

Avoid at all cost
The room was really gross. Stayed in Econo Lodge the night before and that was good.
This location, the room smelled like alcohol was spilled all over the carpet three weeks ago. The room has not been vacuumed in weeks. Found old receipt from two weeks ago from previous renter, right next to the chair for the desk. Along with other obvious debris left from the past.
The TV did not work and had to go to front desk at 6:00 pm to get someone to come and fix. No one there, called service number on front door, no answer. Walk all around 5he property and found the person that check me in and she came to room to fix TV. I thought I needed a battery for remote but the tv cable needed to be replaced. She called someone else to come and fix. The room was so dirty that I was afraid to sleep under the covers for fear of bed bugs.
Also sign on front door from town stating that they tried to do some renovations but did not get the proper permits.

Checking in, the woman was rude and told me that we had ordered a smoking room, which was untrue. My confirmation from Expedia clearly said we had reserved a non smoking room. She said we had to take the smoking room because she had no nonsmoking rooms available. Whether or not that was true, she could have been nice about it, offered to air out the room, give us some Febreeze, anything. Instead, she was just nasty. The room was horriid. Smelly, burnholes in the bedspread, a carpenter ant in the bathroom. Worst place we've ever stayed.

Nobody was at the property when I needed to check in and the door was locked. The main light kept flashing on and off. There was a bell and a phone number to call no one answered either.
There was a notice on the door stating they did not get a permit to do construction as well...

I, a single woman, showed up around 9pm after a long day of stress and driving (looking forward to my hot take out I had just picked up) to find a dark, empty parking lot, a man on a motorcycle out front, and not another soul to be found to give me my room key. The man stated he had been trying to check in for half an hour already, and was kind enough to stand far away as even he could sense how unsafe the situation seemed. A sign posted on the door read "for a room call" but despite an hour of waiting and calling, no one came. Whoever was supposed to be working that night should be ashamed.

Everything was nasty from the outside to the rooms. The employee had her child standing on the table where people are supposed to eat their breakfast with his bare feet when I checked in. Everything in the room had stains all over it. The shower curtain was brown it was so stained. The iron had soot plastered to it that ended up tearing a hole in my husbands very expensive shirt. People clearly are living there with their belongings scattered all over the sidewalk in front of the room doors. I could go on and on. Do not recommended!!

A truly disgusting hotel. Worst I’ve ever seen. Stains on all sheets and furniture, room covered in dust. There is no breakfest provided (as advertised), there is no fitness center (as advertised). It’s pretty evident the owner is living in the lobby with his wife and kids. The Econo franchise should really look into this location.

When I requested a room downstairs, the desk clerk took the opportunity to extort $20 more dollars, He insisted it had to be in cash and I have no doubt it was going directly into his pocket. When I asked for a receipt, he refused. It wasn't like the place was fully booked. By car count early the next morning, only about a quarter of the rooms were rented.
The property has been marginalized by poor accessibility from the highway. It appears poorly maintained, surrounded by closed businesses. That said, the actual room was comfortable.

The front desk person was absolutely rude, let us waiting for about 5’ in the cold until he decide to wake up and attend us. He gave us the wrong wifi password. And there isn’t any breakfast even though in the web pag says so.

With only three other occupied rooms I expect that I was given the best which included, broken entry door trim & security latch, broken bathroom mirror, hole in bathroom door, missing electrical outlet cover, incomplete repainting of wall mold on the bathroom ceiling, food on the floor and a sign saying no breakfast due to COVID. Will never book through Expedia again.

Checked in staff was short with us and not very friendly. Went to the room and it was filthy. Bathroom shower had black mold and the floor on was dirty. The pillows were filthy and dingy white covered with pillow cases. Blankets need updating. The room had a musty odor on top of everything else. First and last stay at this hotel.

This hotel needs a lot of work. Everything is outdated, Condition of the property Has Fallen into disrepair. Looks like the outside has not been painted in years. The room looked fairly neat when you opened the door, When you look closely you'll see the room is not completely cleaned and vacuumed. Multiple Stains throughout the carpet and bedspreads as well. Spider webbs in most Of the corners And behind the curtains. Water stains On the ceilings with chipping paint in areas.

Few things I wasn’t thrilled about the stay…first off the office chair has a missing wheel so it was annoying to try & move the chair. Secondly, there was a personal towel hanging from last visitors that stayed. The floors under the computer desk were also pretty filthy.

I liked nothing really, the property was unkempt, people ( manager I think) were living in what I had supposed was the restaurant area, what now looked like a day care..., tried to call front desk because of a faulty toilet (would not flush) @ 7, 7:30, 8 am ...no answer, finally went to front door, which is locked seemingly all the time due to sketchy characters milling around, and the "clerk" comes out from behind an area that I could not see, in pajamas, and received my message through a cracked open door, 3 hours later we came back after "housekeeping" had been in our room, toilet still not working, had to find a maintenance man and get a plunger, he finally fixed it, when he left there was toilet water all over the bathroom floor.
The absolute worst bedding ever to be sure, years past its life expectancy.
I could not tell ever if the room was even once vacuumed and we were there for 6 nights, same bottle cap on the floor, same piece of receipt paper on the floor for the duration...
The place is super sketchy to say the least, in sad disrepair I will never use another Econo Lodge again, of that be sure..
Not what I expected for what amounted to $100 per night....
Probably wont even look at Expedia again either!

If you're not expecting much then you'll be OK otherwise I'd recommend staying away from this one. I will not be staying here again if I need a room in Pittsfield. Look at all of the other reviews and I think you'll see that most people agree.

The whole experience was bad. Had to get buzzed into lobby at check in at 4 pm, person at desk was not welcoming. No breakfast as advertised. Bathtub had mold around it as did shower curtain. Fridge was noisy and ac/heat did not work.

Stay away, not safe
Didn’t feel safe; it was dirty; located next to a falling-down empty building. Very cheap feeling and yet it was $200/night. Literally a crack motel.

Two things about this property: although the sign says breakfast and so does their website there is nothing offered for breakfast. Also there is no hair dryer in the room even though there's a hanger for it which is something I normally don't bring with me and need.

Staff who was at the front desk was nice. He helped change my room. We were not able to get a first floor for my elderly mother in-law but he got us close to the stairs. The room looked better inside than from what you see on the outside.

Needs to be refreshed.
This place needs to be updated! Old carpets, old air unit, fear of using it due to the garbage in it, noisey fridge was turned off so we can sleep. Stained chair, stained rugs, broken mirror, garbage found stashed behind the chair. Bathroom walls should be wiped clean especially near the light switch, a longer shower curtain needed or lower the curtain rod. New windows that open for fresh air would be refreshing.

We were not sure if it was still in business. Had to be buzzed in the front door in the middle of the day. Unfriendly desk person. Carpets had stains, the bathroom sink was clogged when we arrived, Mold in the shower/tub and the outdoor carpet was haphazardly cut leaving overlapped extra remnants one could trip on.

Nightmare motel
The worst motel I have ever stayed at in my 64 years. Filthy, blood stained sheets, thick dust on every surface. A blaring tv from one side of the room and a makeshift refrigerator clanging all night on the other. I didn’t sleep in the rock hard bed for fear of bed bugs.There was a spotlight right outside the room and the door didn’t fully close, neither did the curtains, so light streamed through the gaps. Every furnishing in the room was battered and broken. The bathtub had skin and soap residue in it, the only thing I used was the toilet, which hadn’t been cleaned. There was no Wi-Fi service either so I used all of my cellular data to try to escape the nightmare. There was no cab service in the town and even though I had paid for 2 nights, I finally found an Uber to pick me up at 5:30 am, even though there is hardly any Uber service either. I had the driver drop me at the bus station and waited 3 hours to take a bus as far away as I could. There is no reason on earth that Hotels.com should be representing this property. I literally gave up all of my money to get out of a property that should be torn down or burned. Shameful for Hotels.com to represent such a property. Disgusting nightmare.

Wont be using them again
The lobby was disorderly and full of private property and the rooms were not well cleaned. The pillows were covered in hair and the office was never open to obtain new pillows. The pillows themselves were flat and poor for sleeping. The facility is falling apart and inconvenient to most Berkshire ports of call.

Don't even think about staying here.
When i opened the door to the first room I was given, I was overwhelmed with the stench of mildew and mothballs.
There was an open plywood door that was open to a small room that included electrical equipment and a large water heater.
Turning on the ac made the smell worse.
When I went to the office to ask for another room, I was angrily grilled for several minutes about whether or not i touched anything in the room.
Eventually I convinced the manager to give me another room, which was even worse.
The hallway to the other room reeked of mildew and cigarettes.
When I opened the door and turned on the light, i watched the bugs scatter.
In less than a minute of standing in the room to call Hotels.com i already had several bug bites on my ankles.
I left and stayed somewhere else.

First negative Hotels.com experience
Rooms have been updated. But the exterior of the building is in poor condition. The owner/ host did change our room when the toilet in the first room leaked. There is NO BREAKFAST even though it is stated in the room info and confirmation. It was blamed on a COVID surge but there were no COVID restrictions anywhere else in the area. The second room had the smell of sewage in the bathroom but no obvious leaks. The carpet has a large stain near the door. The bed is comfortable and the room is quiet.

Third world motel
I went to the office to check in. The office was closed. There was a note on the door giving a phone number to call, which I did. After a while the office personnel came to the door and registered me. I was told there was no breakfast which was counter to the listing. I was told the bed was only a double. I had paid for a king. When I questioned this I was told the king bed would be $100 extra. I drove around through the littered parking lot to the stairway and when I unlocked the door to the room I was greeted with a putrid stench. We could not stay there. I was told the payment was not refundable. We had to find and pay for a room in some other motel.

Went to check out, couldn’t go inside since the manager/owner has to buzz you in. nobody was at the lobby/main entrance. Rang the bell and even called multiple times. Waited 20 minutes outside and ended up sticking the room key into the door and left. Towels were dirty and there’s def bed bugs in the room!!

I would like a refund
Did not check into this hotel. Went to the front desk through the dirty front entrance, got the room key from the man who work there, the entire place smelled like curry, the man’s child was rolling around the chairs in the entranceway. Everything was dirty, old smelled musty, in an unsafe area. Went to see the room, had to walk past a man’s wife sitting in an old folding chair outside of another room playing with another child. It was obvious this couple lives here with their children, the whole place was messy, dirty, unkempt, paint peeling everywhere, musty. Our room was dark, dingy, dated. It smelled like a previous smoking room, and it was musty. I did not feel safe in this area with my family. We felt in that room we may either get bedbugs or wind up with a head cold. It was that gross. I returned the key to the front desk and said I’m sorry I can’t stay here and feel safe and clean. The man said I can’t help you you have to call hotels.com.

Carpets a little worn down but otherwise very clean, especially the bathroom. Staff were hard to find even at checkout time and had to argue for an extra towel. Room phone was disconnected, and microfridge was not running and musty when opened. If you just need a clean place to stay with no other frills, this may be a good fit. There is no elevator so be sure to specify a first floor room if you have trouble with stairs.

I didn't want a smoking room but the owner wouldn't change it except for a $179...when it was no where near full. The "bargain rate" was not worth the smell and the lack of cooperation from the owner. It is advertised as having complimentary breakfast but nothing was offered,'
We will never stay there again. Also it is out oftown.

This family owned business was inspirational, room were dated but clean and contained signs throughout noted ways to be eco-friendly. There was no full breakfast; we only saw continental items but even that was not communicated to us perhaps because of a language barrier. Younger English speaking family members might be at front desk. For a two star hotel prices were too high; Pittsfield needs to update hotel infrastructure and lower prices. Facility was near shopping plaza, popular Kelly’s Diner, McD’s, Etc (Onondaga Lakedrive Beach on other side of town, beautiful free property with alsphault boardwalk. We went to Colonial theater for a show Smokey and Me, a small and ornate theater which was lovely. Great soul food in area, and fine, Italian dining (specials and portions way too high). Overall, Pittsfield was great!

The property is rundown and maid service is spotty at best, but that is not the main issue. The desk staff are the sourest and rudest people I have ever encountered in the hospitality sector, or any business sector for that matter. The woman was extremely rude to anyone who dared to enter the lobby (which was kept locked at all times and seemed to be treated as part of their living space. The man basically accused me of lying and refused to be helpful. Based on this experience I will think twice or three times before booking with Econo Lodge again. If corporate ever rescinds franchises, this one would be the prime candidate.

The front yes lady was extremely rude and argued with me, And stated that he did not select the non-smoking room, and she wanted to charge me more. I did select the non-smoking room through Expedia, but she continue to argue with me. The shower curtain had stains and mold on it the tub was not clean. I’ve been linens were wrinkled as if the beds were just made and not changed.

I would never recommend this place to anyone. The staff was incompetent. I spoke to the woman manager 4 times and each time she began raising her voice and verbally assulting me when I was asking simple questions. On top of it all. The handicap accessible room was not accessible for my wheelchair bound father. The main door thredhold was 2-3 inches off the ground which prevented my father from entering the room without me having to pick him and his wheel chair up. Once he was in the room the narrow gap between the bed and the dresser to the bathroom was not large enough for my father to roll himself through to the bathroom. Again resulting in me having to lift my father. I explained this to management and she raised her voice at me and told me to check out if I don't like it. WHICH I DID. I have never cared enough to write a review but my experience was so horrible I needed to write this to warn any potental guests. PLEASE NEVER STAY HERE unless you like to be yelled at and lied to.

We were apprehensive after seeing the negative reviews, but found the rooms to be clean and quiet. The bathrooms were in good shape reasonably modern. This is a budget motel in a strip mall area, so don’t expect a resort, but we found it perfectly adequate as a jumping off point for day trips and much cheaper than anything nearby. We would return.

Not a great choice
This could be a nice property but the owners and employees don't care. The bath had black mold, the desk chair was broken and the outside was dirty with cobwebs everywhere. The check-in process was bizarre with the employee on a loud telephone call and unresponsive for long periods of time to the customer. My wife did not feel safe.

Dated facility needing rehab, but you know this. If rehab is not possible, Lysol and elbow grease go a long way. Unit needed ceiling to floor cleaning!

Place was locked when I showed up at check-in time. Had to walk around outside of building to find staff. Was given room on 2nd floor. No elevator. Needed accessible room on first floor. They tried to charge more for the accessible room. When I finally got an accessible room, the supposedly non-smoking room smelled like smoke. Rug was filthy. Cob-webs on wall. Water in sink stopped working. Room key stopped working on two days. Big crack in bathroom mirror. Had to ring bell and wait to get any help from staff. If I had not pre-paid thru Expedia, I would have left.

Front service checked us in and already felt unwelcome. When we arrived at our room, it had a strong cigarette smell. Bed was nice, pillows looked clean but it was the stench of cigarette odor that clung to our clothes even after we got home. You get what you pay for but will never recommend this place.

Property was filthy outside and inside. The shower/bath was dirty. Building was not taken care of. The smell in the room was awful. The dining area was closed and filled with junk. The parking lot was cluttered. The staff barely spoke at checkin. Very unwelcoming. We left after seeing the room and did not end up staying. I would not recommend.

Nooooooooooo! This was the dookie hotel.
The motel looked decrepit. Exterior fence around hotel and parking was falling down. The hotel appeared abandoned from the outside due to lack landscaping and exterior upkeep. The non-smoking room smelled of cigarettes and was in terrible condition. The room’s appearance was dated. The queen size beds were full size. There were not enough towels, the showers curtain was disgusting, the bathroom door did not close and the air condition was inconsistent. The hostel in a nutshell appeared to be on its last legs, super shady and an outright disappointment. We would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

OMG!! BEWARE!!! Should have known because of the low price!! My daughter was soooo mad at me for not reading reviews!! Beware!! Front door locked at all the time. I was called the morning that I had booked a room and was told that the room with 2 double beds was smoking!! Was I aware of this?? They did offer a King Size bed, non-Smoking at the same price, however, my daughter was not happy. I checked my Expedia receipt, and two months prior to my stay, I had booked a non-smoking room with two double beds!!!! Because I was notified the morning of my stay, I could not cancel with full refund!!! OMG!! Please read reviews and believe reviews!! This place is SCARY!!!! I will tell you that the linens appeared to be clean, and, because we had no other options, we did stay the night. USED EVERY LOCK AVAILABLE!!! Free breakfast was advertised - even on the sign at the lodge, but in the office was a sign that said breakfast not available due to COVID// Not that we would have actually eaten it after assessing the overall condition of this facility!!! Please read and believe the reviews!!! I learned the hard way!!! Sometimes a bargain is not a true BARGAIN!!!! I have learned a very important lesson!!!

Room was dirty, all surfaces covered in dust, mildew and hair in the bathtub, room stunk very strong of mothballs. Carpet had crumbs all over it, not sure how long that has been there.

Very dirty, smelled like moth balls and mold in the bathroom and shower curtain. Worst of all the “manager” with no identification or knocking or announcement unlocked my door and tried busting in after 9:30 at night scaring my child awake and freaking me out. Thankfully I had the latch closed so the door would not open all the way. He demanded to know my name, yelling at me several times to provide it and then walked away without any explanation or apology when he apparently realized tried entering the wrong room. Terrible service and I have told all of my friends and family about my experience and will never return. I was not offered any apology or compensation even after my husband called to yell at them…mind you my husband was 2 hours away very upset, alarmed, confused and scared. We came very close to calling the police.

When we pulled in there was a couple in the parking lot that wanted their money back because they weren’t staying and the door was locked at the front desk, the place look like it was closed down. The Entire place was very dirty. They serve no coffee or breakfast in the morning. This place needs to be completely updated or just close down. Everywhere you look is dirty there was a dirty hairnet in our room, you can tell the owners don’t care.

Very disappointing
No free breakfast (suppose to be included) , lobby doors locked 24/7, checkout took almost 2 hours to check even though there was a kid in the lobby, toenail clippings next to bed, 4 guests but supplied for 2 (towels), found hairs on fresh towels, writing on the wall near toilet (not appropriate material for my kids). Very disappointing
Our friends were in a another room and management walked into their room unannounced at night. It was a terrifying for the 2 ladies. No knocking on the door, just acting like they were in the wrong. No respect for the ladies and didn't apologize to them. It was not until the husband called that he said he was sorry to him but not tothe ladies. How can a female feel safe staying in the hotel. I cannot explain how disappointed I was to hear this from them.

Price was fair for this property. Rooms looked old but clean. Walls were thin and it looked as if several people were living in the motel. I have mold allergies which were triggered by my stay. This is the only reason I would not stay here again.

Stated that breakfast (coffee and rolls?) was available but when we went to lobby they said due to "covid" they were not doing. This is not an excuse. We have stayed at other places recently where they had coffee and food available. This is a poor excuse and just lazy on their part!

We walked into a smoking room that was reserved by accident, walked out and didn't return. The room was so stale and smoke infested that the light shades were yellowed from the smoke. The windows didn't open so no smoke had ever left the room. I would not even think of putting my head on those pillows or bedding. The carpet had stains and burn marks all over it and looked as though its was 20 years old. It was the most disgusting room I have ever stepped into. Buyer beware you're better off sleeping in your car! We were lucky to find another room in the area.
