Have not received security deposit back yet and did not leave room in disorder. Also area and other patrons were sketchy. The person who checked us in was very helpful and nice but the check out lady was very grumpy and socially weird. Place is cheap so you get what you pay for. I would recommend going to a better hotel so you don't get your security deposit taken advantage of.

Ok for a night.
Fine for a stopover for one night, but this place needs a serious makeover. The beds were the worst we’ve ever experience and we travel a lot. We knew not to expect the Four Season but dang! This was pretty rough. Our room had opened used soap sitting on the sink, the “clean” towels were dirty, the floors were dirty, the room phones were plugged into the wall, but didn’t work, rooms did not have hair dryers, vending machines did not work…. This motel is in a good location, there is a small pool but it is poorly lit. For one night it’s fine, but we would not stay here again for more than that.

The staff was nice!
In regards to the place. It was DIRTY! Floors hadn't been mopped in a long time, the bathtub hardly drained, the bathroom fan didn't work in either room our party was in so the room stayed wet. The mattresses didn't have the full protectors so make sure to check for bed bugs!
Overall, if you need a cheap place to stay in a convenient location, this place is decent enough to have a safe stay.

The front desk attendants were friendly and helpful and the room was very clean for what they had to work with. The mattress was very old, you could feel and hear the springs when sitting in it. We also had our own valleys to sleep in.

It was a great place for a good price just make sure you bring a blanket and some pillows. I say this because their blankets are pretty thin and you only get 2 pillows. Other than it’s a great place!

Even though billed as "non-smoking" both the lobby and my room reeked of cigarette smoke. Also: walking barefoot in the room revealed the floor had not been cleaned; and, the deadbolt on the door would not enter its slot (light coming in around the door suggested the framing was poor).

A low cost hotel, that offers a place to sleep and shower. There is a pool when the weather warms up, but that’s all. Coffee in the morning. But what is offered for the price is fair.

The front desk service was super friendly kind and helpful. We had a few issues with the room key for #122 not working and a very large hole on the bottom of the door to our room. The bathroom was very outdated and not very clean. It was nice how close to the marina and beach it was. The beds are comfortable, the fridge and microwave were very useful, the AC worked good. We just highly recommend a new door and bathtub.

Overall, it was so-so, and I wouldn't stay again.
First, the guy who worked at the front desk (I think his name was Michael, but I could be wrong), did make serious attempts to ensure that our stay was comfortable; he DOES seem like he cares about the property, so that was nice. But it was annoying that when we arrived, we were only able to talk to him through a glass window; and he required every adult in the room to show their ID so he could go make copies... I've never seen that before. It did make me worry about the area around the hotel (although we didn't have any problems in that respect). In terms of the room, the window a/c unit was very noisy and blew cold air directly on us; and we couldn't shut it off because it was too hot/humid outside. That alone was very disappointing and made sleep difficult. The "blankets" on the beds were also more like tablecloths -- no warmth or comfort at all, really. So we had to ask for more blankets (which he DID bring up). Being a motel-style lodging, people were hanging around outside talking loudly even walking right by our front door... That was annoying, too. The location was convenient, and it was very close to the water. It was the least expensive place to stay, which is why we chose it; but honestly, next time I will happily pay just a little more for better accommodations.

Bad hotel and sorry poor rating for Hotels.com
Not worthy of the stay for the price I had to pay. It was dirty and I was charged $100 for if I mess the room up when it was already messed up before I got in. So I had to clean up mess so I get my $100 back! No hangers, no blow dryer, 4 small pillows, very thin bedspread that did not cover you or do it’s job to keep you comfortable while you slept, towels were small that it was hardly enough material to dry your body off. Yep….. oh the kicker!!! I was charged $215.00 thru Hotels.com and the hotel receipt said I was only charged $158.00…. Ummmm something is wrong here!!! I was ripped off, lied to how ever you want to see it. I don’t understand it at all. I paid $215 but my receipt thru hotel says I was charged only $158. Not right at all. Would I suggest this hotel no! I’m questioning my reason to ever use hotels.com again. Both hotel and Hotels.com get a very poor rating from me!

Great place to stay
I had low expectations based on other reviews. But was truly blown away with how nice the space was! My room was clean and comfortable. I felt safe, which is huge as a solo traveler. Location was great. Would definitely stay here again.

Room was dated but for the price what can you expect.. we were not allowed to check in untill 4pm. The front desk attendent has a strong character but was helpful in explaining about the area around the hotel. We did see two roaches which was disappointing because I would've given this hotel a better rating. There was a large gap underneath the front door.

The man at the front desk, Mr. Grinch, can appear offensive to guest. Although I believe that’s just his personality, he can come across abrasive. He’s definitely slow and could be more accommodating to guest. But the worst part is that it’s the administrators fault because they should clean this up for the benefit of their business.

Welcome to Fort Walton Beach
I was surprised by required $100 “damage deposit.” First time I ever encountered it in Florida but seems standard practice here. Makes no sense because nobody checks for damage before they return it. Also surprised by sign in room with price of all towels and furnishings and warning you will be charged for theft. All this considering there was not even a coffee-maker in the room. So sparsely furnished it would have made a Spartan whimper. AC was blasting and I could not adjust it. I had to turn it off. On the positive side, there was coffee in the lobby from 6:00 am on. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They gave me a complimentary toothbrush when I asked. The room had a new fake wood floor and the curtains closed without leaving gaps. The refrigerator didn’t work, but when I asked, they went out and bought a brand new one to replace it. Still didn’t have a freezer though.

Not enough blankets on the bed. Remote for tv did not work. (Even bought my own batteries for remote) front desk woman when i checked in was very rude. I only slept at my room i was never there during the day. Pool was occupied by lots of small children with no adults. Upon arrival i had to have a 100$ deposit on top of already paying a month plus in advance. Not sure i would ever stay here again and i come down tonft walton with my family 2x a year.

Thr property is poorly maintained. Cracks in the bathtub. No coffe in room. They charge an upfront damage deposit on your credit card of $100.00. They claim you get it back in 2 to 3 days after you check out. I hope so. Noisy with residents hanging outsided their rooms and in parking lot. Vehiclles constantly driving in and out, making short stops at different rooms. Would not stay there again.

Okay budget friendly short-term stay
Family of 14, 4 rooms, one night stay. Overall stay was okay. Decent price, had to change 2 rooms. They had a no smoke rule but clearly everyone that stayed there was smoking and that was a big no for my kids and my family. You pay for what you get. Someone open the door at night in my parents room and that was creepy! Bad strom in the night and everyone made it kind of a big deal.

It was good. Fabulous employees but shower situation wasn't good. They did try to accommodate but bathroom problems with showers in both rooms. Just needed maintenance and they did put in the order to fix overall very happy.

Its true. The guy at the front desk is creepy but also rude. He was rude the way he told us that he only had the second floor available although the lot was practically empty. (We rolled in at 11pm) and he made sure to emphasize no late check out. When i asked if there was a gas station around that was open he said in also very rudely. New staff Needed. Also walked in bathroom and right away saw a roach. For the price we stayed a night. We made sure to move elsewhere next day. We left at 10am next day and he was still there which we thought was understaff issues.

Definite dump.
Very sketchy clientele. Rooms must have been photoshopped. But what can you expect for $300 a night when compared to $500 next door.
IF I ever go back to Destin I certainly won’t be staying there again. Shower backed up in one room the other has inch thick caulking around the base of the toilet indicating it has/had a leak, rather than fix it, patch it.

The hospitality of the office members was phenomenal. I had trouble getting in my door to begin with they were very kind and making sure that my keys were set right and letting me know that I had to turn the handle other direction from normal!

Staff were rude when first checked in and took to long to check us in. Told us we could check in at 1 but we had to wait 4 hours so we checked in at 5. Staff were arguing in front of all of us. No breakfast like they said there would be. They claimed they didn’t have a website but I’m not stupid. How did you get our payment if you don’t have a website. Over all horrible motel. Didn’t even have a microwave or fridge in room. Took multiple different requests to clean room. You shouldn’t have to request for someone to clean a room they own. Never go to holiday lodge and suites. They suck and they need to be shut down. Bed bugs in the beds too .

Checked in, did a walk thru the room, and immediately checked out, was there maybe 10 mins and we had already noticed men standing around outside staring us down. It didn't feel like a safe environment at all, the room smelt of the mold, bedsheets were dirty and stunk. The only good thing is that they fully reimbursed us for our 2 night stay, plus the $100 deposit.

Worse experience ever. Don’t choose this place.
It was the worse experience of our life, at the the time of the check out - close to 11 - not even 11 - the lodge employees starting to knock the door every 5 minutes. The second time the owner (we found our later) walked in the room without proper NOTICE. He just knocked twice and straight didn’t listen to the answer (to wAit) and walked in. He walked in on me half naked. The third time - there was this very rude lady shouting at us to leave their property and that she would call the cops.
We got to the front desk - the owner apologize for walking on me but still had that smirk on his face that it was time to go so it was ok for him to do so.
At the time of our check out it was raining really bad. The whole front desk area was leaking really bad - again the rude lady kept kicking us out even from the lobby. The whole front area of the front desk was leaking paint (as if they would just painted the area to cover cracks and so forth)
There were 3 customer with the same issue.
I would never stay here again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.

It was a nice place to stay with my kids. We stayed in room 219. Only my problem is we can't use our hair blower because the electrical wall outlet in a wash area close to the bathroom is not working. What i love is the restaurant ocean buffet is only 2mins to drive from the hotel.

This property is horrible there were cockroaches in our room the blanket was as thin as a sheet there was no service the towels were like sandpaper the room was filthy. it was unsafe people were begging for money in the parking lot the door lock was broken and if at all possible I would like a partial refund on this stay

The Police Are Nearby If Something Happens?!?!?!?
We stayed here 4 or so years ago and was satisfied. Our room was toward the office and was acceptable. This trip, our room was at the very back and it was just me (female) and my daughter. Apparently, this is an extended stay hotel, also. The entire time we were taking our things to our room, there were several men hanging out on a back bench and backs of pickup trucks watching us. It made me terribly uncomfortable. The deadbolt lock also did not work. I called the office - from my cell bc the room phone did not work - and asked if there was a room closer to the front that might be available and explained why and told them the deadbolt didn't work. They said they would send someone to check the deadbolt, they did not have any other rooms available, and they would talk to the men...
The guy comes to our room after dark and knocks but doesn't identify himself. With the flip latch secured, I opened the door a crack and he then identified himself. I showed him the lock and expressed my concern of being watched. He said the guys are there working construction and that the police drive through the parking lot frequently and are always nearby and if something were to happen, they wouldn't get far. W-T-H???? I was like 'are you SERIOUS?!?!?!?'
I did not have the extra money to stay elsewhere, we didn't receive a different room, and the men continued to watch us every time we came and went from the property. Don't chance it. Nothing happened to us but we will NOT be back!!

Surprised.
The room still had remnants of the previous guests. The furnishings were in desperate need of replacement, the bed didn't have dips it had craters and this was the handicapped room. From my experience I couldn't with good conscience refer anyone to this hotel.
