Second time staying here. Last time we stayed in a garden room this time we stayed in the tower overlooking the bay. Great views, comfy beds. Our room was large-some furniture was a little worn, but didn't bother us at all. Great hot tub (whoever is in charge of music in that area A ) nice location and we happened to be checking out the day of crazy rain and some flooding in the city-staff was very nice and helpful.

The catamaran was absolutely amazing in so many ways, but there was some room issues that I didn't love. We did a couples massage at the spa - it was so relaxing and efficient - my deep tissue massage was so great! The spa bathroom and steam room was my favorite. However, Our room shower was so poor, it was loose at the faucet hookeup and would shake and make a loud noise every 30 seconds or so. The TV had a supposed casting ability but it wasn't connected to the WiFi and we couldn't figure it out so ended up watching boring cable. The beds, balcony and cleanliness of our lil kitchenette and double queen bed room was so awesome, I just wish I didn't have the shower and tv issues. The property was gorgeous, exclusive bay access and a nice restaurant with room service! The room service was so amazing that it was dangerous lol we wanted to order it a ton. I absolutely loved the open lobby with the beautiful wildlife and little ponds. I was so happy with so many things at this resort, but I don't want to have to travel with a laptop just to watch TV. I wanted to use the spa instead of use our bad shower and felt like it could have been way better in our room.

Really enjoyed the stay at the Catamaran Hotel. We stayed next to the pool and was easy to walk to around the beautiful grounds. Great location and less than a 3 min walk to the beach. Only issue was that some of hot water ran at out times and the shower head had about half the nozzles plugged but this didn’t impact the overall stay which was great!

We Love the Catamaran Resort
This is our 2nd trip to San Diego and our 2nd time staying at the Catamaran. We love it here. This time, we brought our 6 year old grandson and he loved stopped to visit the birds on the property and killing time in the free arcade.
The service was quick and friendly when we requested additional towels, soap and bottled water. The staff was accommodating when our return flight was cancelled and we couldn’t get another for 12 hours. They gave us a pass card to hang out in the pool area or arcade as well as holding our luggage secure, while we waited out our flight time. We will always recommend the Catamaran.

Up-graded but not an upgrade wanted
I booked at Catamaran a room in the tower because it had a kitchenette and ocean view and bay view. So they put me in a room with no kitchenette and told me this was an upgrade. It was not—I brought food to cook had to order roomservice—they said tower was under construction but there were people staying in clearly in those units… so I won’t be staying here again—because I felt they were dishonest and when I immediately called on waking into the room…(to which they should have moved me to what I had booked for) I was told this is a way nicer room. No it was not— No ocean view—brought a small microwave but since had no dishes no anything not much good. I do not complain—I felt told to like this and when customers book specific rooms they want that room…..bedroom was no view and bay view was ok but second floor and very loud. Because outdoor groups meet on the lawn… in the tower it is less noticeable. It was disappointing to be told rooms were unavailable only to clearly see tower units with people staying in them in the very room I paid for and booked…I did not and would not have booked the room they chose. I chose the room we needed when I booked and it should have been what booked! Nice place we are locals and usually we love it. This was not great—so Humphreys will get out business.

Property and location is great!
Service was excellent.
Rooms could use a renovation.
My only issue was that I was in the hallway behind the front desk. Anytime a door closed, most often the front office door, it SLAMMED shut. So loud and it echoed down the hall. I laid in bed for about an hour and heard a door slam shut over 25 times. They could really use new doors that don’t slam shut. Also, one of the employees whistles at night. It’s pretty loud as the rooms are not so insulated.

Resort Facilities are great especially when you are with family such as pool, free arcade, easy access to beach
Builds and rooms are quite out dated and old. So felt it was expensive for overall quality. They had extra resort and parking per day which was approx $90 per day

Front desk supervisor was very rigid, not at all suited for her job. Could have been accommodating & chose not to be. A young woman who is embarrassingly condescending. I own a design travel company & assuming she, Cynthia, still works there I will not recommend this place for my business study groups. Otherwise the property is beautiful & all other staff very nice. But this person made it impossible for us to stay there

Set the bar low
Room amenities were disappointing and was surprised to see the low quality brand of tissue and over all cleanliness of the room.
In room Coffee service had already opened sugar/creamer packets.
Was there we large holiday party on a Friday night and all the outdoor seating and fire pits were turned off at 11. Left to sit in the dark on chaise lounges without cushions.

Rooms are very dated, feels very late 90's. The bathtub drained slowly and burped up sandy water as it did drain, so standing in the remnants of past showers was gross.
There is no central control to the AC/room temperature. The TV was a 45 degree angle to the bed. The refrigerator is in the closet. There were light bulbs that needed changing. There is zero class to these rooms.
Dated, dingy- had more a Travel Lodge vibe than a "4 Star Resort"
We're local to the area, so the touristy amenities just weren't enough to overcome such a wanton disregard for the modern hotel experience.
Do yourself a favor, get a nicer room in which to be comfortable, and uber to your attractions.

I was disappointed that you had to pay for parking. Of course when you make a reservation at a hotel in California there are very few places you can get local transportation, so they automatically know you'll be needing to get there by car. You shouldn't have to pay extra to park your car.

A motel disguised as s resort!! While the grounds and the location are beautiful, sadly, the room was subpar! I was given a Tower room on 7 th floor. The room was very dated and the bathroom was deplorable! Bathtub was stained black inside from previous anti skid material; chipped tiles and stained/peeling wallpaper. Floor was dirty. Bathtub kept backing up during showers to above my ankles. I finally noticed the drain was extremely clogged with gunk and hair! Safe in room did not lock. Dried blood stain on my sheet. I reported this to front desk staff, who told me rooms were in process of being Renovated from the ground up. Excuses!
On my last night, the power went out from 9:15 pm til 6 am. Guests were not notified of the problem. An alarm also sounded at 4 am and I was unsure if it was a safety issue, like a fire alarm. Again, no notification as to what was happening. Should I evacuate?? A little unsettling being on the 7th floor in the dark!
When I questioned the front desk as to the issue, they basically brushed me off with, sorry, we weren’t here when it happened.
I requested my “resort” fees be waived as I did not use the facilities, but was told everyone pays them regardless. Really? It’s November. Not everyone is there for the “resort!” If so, where were the beach loungers?
I stayed here during the pandemic, and also had an issue with the cleanliness of the room, but attributed it to lack of staff. I can see not much has changed!!Also, there was no

I love the catamaran. In a little nuke on the beach that blocks the winds, you get to chat with some of the coolest birds in the world, and the staff as always welcomes you with a warm smile:)

Anniversary trip
Such a beautiful property. The perfect spot to go to the beach with the bay on one side and cross the street and you are at the ocean. The GM Jim Chester was AWESOME! We happened to meet him
while checking out the exotic birds that reside on the property. We got to chatting about lots of things and he took it upon himself to upgrade our room to the bayside right on the water !! And then sent us a bottle of champagne and a fruit/cheese basket for our anniversary ! So lovely !!! What a delight !!! The room was beautiful. Very comfy bed. Lovely sitting area with a slider out to a small patio. We sat out and watched the people walking by on the walkway near the water. The restaurants on site were great. Food delicious! Staff friendly, helpful and very professional!!! Super clean and the hot tub and pool was awesome !! Loved it all. Highly recommend and definitely will be back !!

Very beautiful landscaping you feel in Hawaii. Oceana food and drinks delicious. Only but a very big deal to me was the room wasn’t very clean, hair on floor when walked in and didn’t smell nice. Need big remodeling for the rooms and much much better cleaning service.

The Catamaran is a fine value. Its greatest asset is the staff who were always cheerful’ accessible and helpful. We stayed in the tower which was old and very noisy. Needs double glazing - could hear traffic and even someone playing the drums at 2 am. Not a cheap date!!!! spoke to the concierge and he did take off the $49 resort fee. What the hell is that anyway........

Not worth the great location
Despite the great location, this place is not worth it. Very uncomfortable beds, noisy rooms, and a "garden view" is of the parking lot. The hotel staff were not accommodating. Carpet in the room was soaking wet and the shower was leaking. The spa on premises was fantastic but nothing else is worth it.

Not a pleasant visit
The resort is in a great location, my only complaint is about the tower rooms. The elevator was actively leaking water into the cab. The bathrooms had grubby tile and moldy grout finishes, the patio door was very difficult to open. They are not maintaining their facility. For what we paid I feel like we stayed in a cheap motel. Will not recommend or return

Great location and a tropical paradise. But, with challenges. very expensive. Parking is $36 daily and a hefty resort fee. Food....$24 for a pool side cheeseburger. We also had issues with housekeeping. Our beds weren't changed for 3 days. The morning manager did step up, and waived the resort fee.

This property was interesting. It has so much potential to be good. The pros of the resort were the nice pool and surroundings. The area nearby with the bay was very pretty. There was a nice path to walk along and you could also cross the street to go over to Pacific Beach. The landscaping was nice with lots of green and waterfalls and ducks in the pond.
The cons were the horrible, outdated, dingy, awful room. This room is falling apart! The kitchen is so old and terrible. I have never seen a stove that old. There was no proper housekeeping. Just a knock on the door to offer fresh towels. The bathroom was nothing short of nasty and old. These rooms in the “tower” are most certainly not worth the money. For the price paid, this resort was a big disappointment.

It was like being in a tropical paradise, the grounds were gorgeous. my room however smelled like someone had smoked in it. Also all the food options there were outrageously expensive! And the food servers fo the most part was slow. The spa was dreamy and staff took great care!

This property is beautiful. My granddaughter and I enjoyed the waterfall, fish, ducks and parrots. The pool and hot tub were nice and open at night when we wanted to relax. We did the VIP luau and really enjoyed it. The food was amazing, the real flower leis were gorgeous, and the show was entertaining. We were also treated to a mai tai drink in a souvenir cup and a non alcohol drink in a pineapple cup for my granddaughter. We made some special memories together.

No microwave in the room we stayed in, not sure if this is room specific or resort. Would have liked to warm up left overs. There was someone’s eyeliner on the floor near the balcony door so I’m hoping the carpets were vacuumed. The balcony door did not slide well at all, it jammed when trying to open or close it. There was quiet a bit of dirt and debris in The tract preventing it from sliding. Little more attention to cleaning needed.

Cute little getaway for families
I really liked the property; especially the outside. Proximity to the bay and Pacific beach was awesome. I liked the bar and the restaurant.
The beach chairs on the grass at the bay were lovely.
The bathrooms need some updating, the mattresses killed my back.
The front desk staff was friendly, I liked the birds and the coffee.
This place is definitely for families and pets; not people looking for quiet

I loved the resort but I didn’t LOVE our room.
But that’s okay, the staff was so kind and helpful and the property was amazing the room was really just to sleep.
They were so accommodating and answered all my questions.
The Luau was amazing to watch. You don’t necessarily have to purchase tickets, it’s pretty open and everyone can see.
The bay was so beautiful to lounge at with easy room and hotel access as well as dining.
Umbrellas, chairs and towels were set up on the bay side and not crowded at all.
The pool was so much fun as well as their live entertainment.
It’s across the street from the boardwalk so we fully enjoyed SD!

The place was very nice, however a few areas that could be adjusted during our stay. Our room had and awful smell and was very out dated as well as the screen door was broken. They did try to send maintenance but it was not a fixable thing till they will have to fix this when they do the renovations to these rooms. The other disappointment was the the jacuzzi and pool where cold of slightly warm.
The morning yoga was great and the Luau was wonderful. I would love to come back once all the rooms are renovated to avoid the smell we had in our room. The staff tried to help and was kind.

We had a nice time while staying at The Catamarran.
The grounds were pretty with lots of trees and animals.
Lots of beautiful fish, ducks and turtles.
We did not dine on property, so I cannot say anything about the restaurants.
House keeping came in the afternoon while we were out for the day. They gave us new towels, but did not make the beds and did not clean coffee mugs.
Those both seemed a bit odd to not tend such things.
Overall, we are happy with the place, just not housekeeping.

Tower of terror
The check in process was pretty quick. The lady who checked me in was not friendly at all and didn’t give any information about anything. She just asked if I wanted valet parking or self and that’s pretty much all she asked and handed me the key after I paid. The room at the tower was upsetting. The room smelled really bad the carpet was dirty stains everywhere the kitchenette Area was dirty see all the buildup where they don’t sweep or mop in the corners of the couch and there was dirty didn’t feel comfortable sleeping on the bed I had to check the sheets make sure it was clean. I called the front desk and said they couldn’t do anything about it I had taken my kids and I didn’t have them walk around without shoes that’s how dirty the carpet was. The location was perfect. The restaurant was good. If I were to stay there again I would recommend not staying in the tower.

Not worth the price
The view was great but we definitely paid for it. It seemed like that's all we paid for. The place is really, really dated. What has been fixed was done half-a#$ed. Exposed carpet tacks between the entrance and the "kitchen." Had a microwave, refrigerator, and stove but no way to wash dishes (not even any paper towels). Very few dishes or silverware. The value for the price just wasn't there.

The staff were kind and helpful, the location is great, a minute's walk away from the beach. The dining is limited (restaurant has little variety), and the second floor rooms are inconvenient as there are only stairs, no elevator.The rooms surrounding the pool seemed initally great, but the music and people are too close and loud for any privacy or relaxation. There was little lighting in the room, so we had no choice but to open the curtains (no privacy). However, there was plenty of parking and we had a disabled family member so we recieved free parking, which is rare, so very grateful for that! Thank you!!

Property and facilities were very nice , but we paid substantially above current pricing. A good all in price is about $450 a night for a two queen garden room. They charge both a resort fee and a parking fee adding about. $80 per day to price. Ed
