What’s up with people Peeping and Creeping
A weird experience where the hotel moved me from one room to another. They seemed very upset if you refused maid service.At times you felt like someone was peeping and creeping.. A very Norman Bates feel. I left because for the type of motel it is they were way too up for n your business. Creepy.

This property is very difficult to access if it is on the left side of the road as you approach it. With all of the crazy one-way streets surrounding it, it was challenging to find a way to get to it from the other direction. By the time we finally got there by holding up a line of honking cars while we made a U-turn, we were not in the best of moods, so our impressions were probably a bit jaded.
It is a clean property that appears to have been freshly painted, but it is an old property. The furnishings are functional but dated--probably from the late '60's/early 70's. The room was very basic with no hair dryer or refrigerator, and the towels were small and thin. Internet was slow, but available. The beds were comfortable as was the temperature, and we got the impression that the owner takes care of the motel. Price was reasonable, considering its location. We had planned to stay four nights but checked out after the first night because it was farther away than we thought it would be from our son's place. That was our mistake, not the motel's.
If you just need a clean place to stay, this fills the bill. Just remember that it is a budget motel, not the typical type of inn you will find along an expressway.

We went to a show at The Edge Theatre on Broadway. Most convenient with lots of dining options nearby, especially the Cozy Corner for breakfast. (No breakfast at motel since COVID).

We were in need of a safe, clean spot to rest for night in Chicago that didn't break the bank. Looking around at other options, we saw rooms going for $300 and up, which was crazy for a bed and shower. Then we saw The Heart O' Chicago for a much more reasonable amount and took a chance. It exceeded all expectations. I would stay here again without question.

This motel is truly a vintage place. Like a 50s diner that still has pieces from the original era. Considering the age of the property, the housekeeping crew does a phenomenal job! And they clean rooms daily, which is so rare to find nowadays. Staff is incredibly helpful and accommodative (and funny!).
My only gripe is that the property is on a very busy corner. I think the windows and insulation are a bit dated, since you can hear so much traffic noise. I was worried about this at first. But I turned on the air and TV for background noise and slept just fine.
Location is great. Would stay again! Thank you!

Great location for Edgewater/Andersonville
No frills hotel in Edgewater. Great location for me, and inexpensive. Noisy at all hours, but that is city living! Convenient to CTA Damen bus and Clark bus.

Accommodations are good for the price. Easy access to the bus line. Close proximity to the train. Lobby still not open for free coffee. Starbucks down the block was closed Saturday and Sunday, so it made getting out to get coffee a bit more of an effort. Housekeeping personnel are great. Desk clerk a little standoffish. Rooms need new carpeting. Some rooms were being fitted with new carpet the day I left. I have stayed here before and will again. The free parking is great if traveling by car.

This is definitely a "no-frills" hotel and the rooms are a bit dated. No coffee maker, microwave or fridge, and no "continental breakfast as they have listed in their description. However, the people we dealt with were very nice, the room very clean and since we simply needed a place to sleep during our stay it for the bill perfectly. This was our second time staying here and we would happily stay here again.

I've stayed here many times, and I'd still stay again. This more recent stay was fine, but not as amazing as previous ones. The gentleman in the office who's been there for many years is always pleasant and kind, but I found two other staff members quite a bit colder in their presentation. Also, the parking lot at night seemed to sometimes have some suspicious characters hanging around (sitting in cars), so it didn't feel quite as safe as before. For the record, I also miss the continental breakfast that they used to put on before the pandemic, but with inflation, I expect bringing that back would increase the room rates. I'll definitely try them again.

First time staying here, I had some concerns being a low budget motel, but was pleasantly surprised how decent it was. My least favorite part was the crazy amount of lint that came off the bath towels after drying off (more than I've ever seen in my life!) Next time I'll just bring my own.

Heart O Chicago Stay
My brother and I had a great stay at this motel. It was cost effective and easy to get around town. The only critique would be the cigarette odour in our room. I would suggest to buy an air freshener ahead of time before your stay to offset the smell.

This was a last minute booking. Yes it is old but clean and the room attendant's were amazing. If you want something that's not breaking the bank for a Cubs game this is your spot. Barrelmans Pub across the street is amazing as well and great bang for you buck.

Old, loud, and cheap, but mostly clean
Paper thin walls next to a busy street. Outdated, decor. Bedspreads made of sandpaper, cardboard sheets, lumpy ancient mattress, flat foam pillows. Spiders in the bathroom, though otherwise clean. Musty smells everywhere. This place had great reviews and it seems like it must have been a scam. Way overpriced for what it is.

If you want glamour, this isn't the place. However, it serves it's purpose for a clean place to sleep. The price point is excellent, and includes free parking, which is hard to find in Chicago. The L-train is about a 15 min walk. Bear in mind, there is no breakfast.

Classic retro hotel/motel. We got a room with dual double beds--wish a king had been available, because the mattress was tight. They should also delete all references to "continental breakfast," because they're not serving anything at all in the morning. Could hear other guests' voices faintly through ventworks. Otherwise, a quaint stay at a decent price that's super conveniently located.

Great location. Love the free parking. We actually used Uber to get about as it a convenient location. Just a blick from great shopping in Andersonville.Bed mattresses were a bit springy. The motel needs updating, but I was willing to overlook it given price and location.

The stay was nice. I needed a night away. The room was clean. The television was an old CRT television. The door didn’t have a peephole viewer, but you can look out the window. It need to have a door viewer installed. The Heart of Chicago Motel gave me what I needed, a night away from home.

For the most part, I enjoyed my stay there. I was able to check in earlier than expected which was appreciated. The only bad thing was the airconditioner did not work because, I was told by a nice guy at the front desk, the unit running all the airconditioners, wasn't turned on.

A cheap motel, but convenient for when we need to stay in this area. Nothing bad, but nothing fancy. Tiny towels in the bathroom, no refrigerator or microwave. Nothing updated or upgraded (except a flatscreen tv) since the 1950s it would seem.

This is a perfectly adequate, good-value motel to stay in if you're planning a weekend of activities in or near the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago. The facilities are quite basic, but that is what you'd expect at the price. Most staff members were very friendly. The property is on a busy road, so traffic noises were a constant reminder that you are in a big city. A good place to stay if you're on a budget.

The location is absolutely fabulous. The price is fantastic. The hotel itself is outdated but it is a great deal. Sheets were perfectly crisp and white, pillows just fine. Although it is right on a busy street, not much noise. Free parking! It's a great deal just don't expect fancy.

Sad accommodations!
The accommodation was on a main strip where traffic and sirens went on through the night. There were no extras of anything such as pillows or towels. Three of us had two towels to share. The shower was just a stream of water like from a hose. Even though the site advertised “continental breakfast” and was even included on the sign outside, there was nothing at all, not even coffee or tea.
At the time of writing this there was road construction in front of the motel, sometimes even blocking the entrance. It is not located in a good, or easily accessible, area. It was however, close to our venue, otherwise we would have sought out different accommodations. Will not stay there again.

I knew I was booking a motel but when I went to check in, there was an obvious dr*g deal happening and it was clear people were having extended stays. Someone had christimas lights in their room. It was trashy and felt very unsafe. I was being watched by two men on the balcony the entire time. I told the man I couldn't stay there. Didn't even bother trying to get my money back from Expedia. It was the middle of the day, I can't imagine what it's like at night. DO NOT STAY HERE.

It was cheaper than other options, that's about all I can say. It was noisy, but my son and I slept well. It was shabby but clean. The heater/airconditioner just pushed out cold air. Towels were threadbare.

They hit us with an unexpected charge when we checked in. Frustrating way to end a long day. Extra $23 for my sons (11/10 year olds) to stay in the room.
That $23 bought us two extra towels for use during our 10 hour stay.
