The Dolphin Key in Cape Coral is a classic and comfortable retro motel. Check in was easy, room was clean and comfortable, pool and tiki hut looked very inviting.

Time Warp to simpler times
We had a great time:) This was our second time back here; before and after both the pandemic and hurricane. We were delighted both times. The hotel staff were friendly and most-helpful. Meghan at the Front Desk had great welcoming hospitality (at check-in) and accomodated our room location request perfectly, ty! The Tiki Hut bar and wait staff (Julie, Craig/Greg (sp?) & Mark) were attentive and responsive. The live music bands every night were great and danceable to all types of music. The place is like a throwback to the simpler times of the late 60's in architecture and accomodations.
Very clean inside the rooms and outside by the pool and Tiki Hut interior. The local area is pedestrian-friendly with several live music bars and restaurants close by.

Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Room was clean, linens fresh, water hot. It had a refrigerator . I was disappointed it did not have a microwave, so you can not reheat your leftovers. They close office at 8pm. So, I suggest you make sure you have enough towels and whatever your needs are before 8 pm. Not in walking distance to stores or gas station.

Clean but LOUD!
The facility was spotless, but a rock band plays at the pool bar on Saturday nights. It's a fun vibe if you want to drink and dance at the bar, but not so great if you want to retire early. You won't get to sleep before their curfew at 11:00.

The communication was very good. Room was clean. Rates were reasonable.I liked that there is a restaurant on the property. The pool area is cozy and peaceful. I would definitely stay here again.

Amazing staff/excellent location!
The motel itself could use some updating. The rooms were pretty clean but outdated. The shower didn’t drain, and the fan in the bathroom didn’t work so after showering the humidity in the room was extreme, causing the floors to be slippery. All of the staff at both the motel and the bar were amazing. Very friendly and accommodating. Location is great, and the tiki bar is awesome. The tiki bar has music most evenings. Motel is within walking distance to shopping/restaurants/bars. Even though the building/rooms need some love, because of the location and wonderful staff, we would definitely go back!

Considering they are open after the hurricane they went thru last year, im very happy with the cleanliness of this place. I guess they are still under construction so there is some noise at random times but nothing that bothered us. Defiantly recommend staying here clean, friendly staff. And the tiki hut has some very good food!

Was great with a pool and Tiki Bar!! Other than that very basic. There still rebuilding so give them time. Probably would not stay there again. But if you want inexpensive and basic then that's the place.

Nice 3 day stay. Everyone on the staff was great. We had a wifi problem the first day which was resolved quickly. Nice pool. Prices were very fair. Loved the Swedish shower valve in the bathroom.

Comfortable stay. Great live music, tiki bar had a pleasant vibe. Music didn’t play too late so it was ok to sleep. Pool not crowded, we’ll kept. Overall good service from reception to tiki bar servers. Would have like a microwave in the room.

The property was great, they have done a very good job rebuilding. The staff was very nice and helpful. Having the registration close at 6:00 is a bit inconvenient, but they were very communicative about the closing time and there is a process for late check in. My only real complaint was the tv. The stations were very limited, unless you like weather, cooking, 1950's western shows, or Hallmark movies.

For an old school reasonable resort we were very happy with the accommodations. We checked in late and out early. Meaghan texted and emailed all we needed to know. Also cool tiki bar and restaurant with music on the property.

Arrived after the office closed (5pm). Late check in package available and was accessed without difficulty. The property was run down and the rooms were not well lit. No top sheet on the bed, just a fitted sheet and comforter. Was advised the next day that top sheet is available on request but this was not disclosed prior to our late check in. At 3am the smoke alarm low battery alarm started to beep. No one at front desk or available to asssist with this issue. Room next door having the same issue as we could hear that alarm also! Then the walls were so thin we could hear the person in the next room urinating and then flushing the toilet! Office opened at 8am. We checked out immediately and shared our grievances at which time I was told that I should have to pay for the additional 2 nights stay that I had reserved, but she said she wouldn’t make me pay for more that the night we had stayed! No apologies or offer to reduce charges for our terrible experience! My advice: Acoid this place like the plague!!!

Door locks need attention. Ours was not working correctly as it was falling off and needed to be replaced. Cleaning staff, wash the floor at least once!! Nice front desk people, bar was fun, pool was nice.

Great Stay
Still doing a lot of work on first floor rooms, but never a problem with noise. Having the Tiki Bar attached was very convenient, with good food and music. There was a small issue at check-in, but Meghan was great. She was there all week and helped make our stay special.

Great place to stay and enjoy your time. The Tiki Bar is worth any little bit of extra money this Motel may cost in comparison to another place. The only drawback was the lack of TV channels if you do want to relax in your room.

Don't let the outside of this property confuse you. All the rooms are fully remodeled and beautiful inside. Quite neighborhood. Right in the middle of everything. Tiki bar and girl downstairs is cheap, fun and no driving required. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Easy late check-in and early check-out. Will stay again.

Horrible Night
We booked this hotel because we had friends in Cape Coral visiting. We loved the look of the tiki bar and thought it would be fun to hang out there. We love bands by the pool but not hard rock bands that play until 11pm. No matter where your room was in that hotel, you could hear the band. Terribly loud. The lobby closed at 6:00pm. No security after that. There was a fight outside our room late at night. And they only had 4 tv channels to chose from. You had to subscribe to even the local channels. Horrible. Our window had a crack in it and was held together with duct tape. We will not be returning to this place ever again!

Old and rundown.

Due to the Hurricane this property is not completely open there was nothing on the ground floor and I needed help to climb the stairs which the office manager took my luggage up and when I checked out she took my luggage down.

The Dolphin Key Resort is still recovering from hurricane Ian. All rooms on the first floor are closed due to water damage. The lobby is only open from 2-6 weekdays. There is a horrible mold smell in the lobby that I was afraid would be in the room. Luckily enough there wasn't. I can not believe the staff isn't suffering from a mold allergy due to the issue. Most doors into the rooms are damage in some way. We couldn't put the dead bolt on in our room. My husband used one of the chairs in the room to add extra security to the door. There was a heavy rain storm and water was poring through the bottom of our door. I had to put a towel down to soak it up and to prevent more rain from coming in. The pool area was clean and open and the Tiki Hut Bar and Grill was rocking all the time.
Overall I think more work needs to be done to have this resort up and running.

We had a great time at the Tiki Bar and enjoyed the pool. The bands both nights were very entertaining. The room was clean and comfortable. This hotel is trying hard to please as they come back from effects of the hurricane. Only 2nd floor rooms are open and so a flight of stairs to carry up luggage but that was ok for us. Meghan at the desk was lovely and very helpful. We are happy to patronize this family owned hotel vs. the big chains during their time of renovations.

It was a place to sleep...
TV was very small and the channel guide supplied waa wrong. There were only 4vor 5 channels abd they repeated across seceral channels that we're supposed to be different. Ended up watching tv on my phones which was annoying.
No wall outlets close to the bed so I could've charge my phone next to me while sleeping.
Shower controls are horrendous. Over complicated and under whelming.

Property was overall clean, however, disclosure on its state of rebuilding after Hurricane Ian was not disclosed until after reservation was made and paid. There is a pool bar & restaurant on-site and live music is played until late evening. Rooms facing pool will have the music coming through into the rooms. Front door to room was literally peeling off in layers and a gap underneath could allow for roaches and other pests to come into the room. The whole are is rebuilding after Hurricane so sounds of construction are heard throughout the day. I was not advised of an elevator, so I had a heavy piece of luggage which I had to carry upstairs, a bit challenging. There is no TV service, only streaming TV. Overall stay was average. From property description when booking, I was expecting a different style of property. It's located in a residential/commercial neighborhood, safe area.

I did rent this hotel to my children and their dad to spend time together. Everything was ok until on the 2nd night and pass 10pm, the AC stopped working, the father of my children called the emergency line because there is no front desk after normal business hours and they stated they will send someone. We called multiple times throughout the night and they did not answer again. I can understand the fact that the hotel was affected by the hurricane, I accepted to rent like that but I can't understand that they leave a 71 years old person with multiple health conditions without AC all night and never answer again. I did pick up my children but their father had a very bad experience. He has not received a call from management and he mentioned the issue to the front desk, much less a partial refund at least for the inconvenience, this got nothing to do with the Hurricane. What a bad moment, I wish them the best truly, but me and my family are very disappointed.

Our third year there for at least ten days or more. Love the place, close to other bars and food. My wife and I don’t require a lot. We stay in the pool and let the great staff take care of us. But in the same breath we take care of them. We treat each other like family.

Disappointing resort stay
This 'resort' was very disappointing.
First, we appreciated the upfront notice that they were still recovering from and repairing some of the rooms, but that rooms rented out were all complete. Our room was not in need of any repairs from the Sept hurricane.
2 - We visited at a very hot time - the cool air unit in the room could not keep up with the heat and humidity BUT it also blew the cold air that there was, directly onto us. A positive thing was that, when we spoke to the front desk person about it, they sent someone to check it (and cleaned the filter) right away.
3 - VERY noisy at night. When we spoke to the front desk person, she assured us that it must have been some noisy individual room. We checked it out at night -- the VERY loud music was coming from the bar. In fact, we had taken a walk one night and heard the music from 3-4 nights away! Must be some unhappy neighbors.
4 - Rooms were clean - sparse, but clean.
5 - But outside in the stairwell and the near hallway area, the floors were very grimy and dirty. I hated even walking on those filthy floors. Needs a good powerwashing. Seriously!
6 - Every time we walked up or down the stairs, someone was smoking right at the top - right next to the 'no smoking' sign.
Would not stay here again.

Property was under renovation and our door was warped from rain damage. The door was hard to get open, there was no smoke detector, tv was very small, coffee pot was broke. Just expected more from it being a resort and pictures shown online.

The staff is amazing as always. Pretty clean and put back together after last year’s hurricane. We love staying here the tiki bar and pool are amazing. In total we had 4 rooms with a wedding party for our son! Great job helping use with irons and extra towels! You guys rock! See you next time !

This was my 3rd time here!! 4th of July in the pool was a great party! Good people!! Absolutely LOVE this place and will be back again!! Meghan was so nice and very helpful! And Jen is the best waitress ever, so friendly and she actually remembered me 🤗 My only complaint was TV selection, we only got 3 channels and they weren’t good ones! Couldn’t even get Netflix or anything 😢

We were pleasantly surprised during our stay. Right after our reservation was confirmed, we received an email from Dolphin Key Resort stating that the property was still recovering from hurricane Ian and let us know that they would do everything they could to make our stay pleasant in spite of the hurricane recovery status. The property was clean and the staff was excellent. They were true to their word that they would do everything they could to make our stay a pleasant one. The pool area was beautifully cared for and all staff we encountered were courteous and friendly. We would stay there again.

Dirty and unsecure
Spoiler alert - we stayed in the room for about 5 minutes then booked at a different hotel. The room was filthy (dust bunnies all over the floor, layer of dust on AC cover, stains on curtains, sheets questionable) and unsecure/unsafe. We could have pulled the door handle/key card out of the door and the panel to the left of the door was unattached and would not close (see photos). There was also a 1 inch gap at the bottom of the door (see photo). Cheap ikea furniture, chairs felt like they would fall apart if you sat on them. Mattress and pillows were smaller than normal. Def not a resort - old rundown hotel with small pool. Tiki bar might be alright but as I mentioned, we left the property.

Not what I am use too. Limited desk hours. A lot of restrictions. Limited television channels, 3 channels only. No closet in room, no iron, or ironing board. Beds where ok but the bed case was dirty. Pool area was wonderful along with the food and drinks at the Tiki Bar.
