Romantic and Relaxing
This hotel is perfectly located in Honolulu. It’s a beach front property and as soon as you walk out the front, you’re in line with all the luxury shops. The rooms have Toto Washlets. You can walk almost anywhere.

Loved it!
The staff is excellent. Everyone at all positions was helpful and friendly. That was the best part. Breakfast and drinks by the banyan tree were unforgettable. Access to the beach was perfect. If you go to Waikiki, the Moana Surfrider is perfect.

Moana Surfrider is a beautiful hotel. They upgraded me to a premier suite and the customer service here is top notch. The view of Diamond Head from our room was gorgeous. Live music and cocktails were great, too. Will definitely be back.

I am not impressed with the bell service, basically if you dont tip them or they sense that you are not planning to tip them . Then you are on your own, no appreciate or fair treatment as a human being but rather as an ATM machine

Had to reserve pool chair with umbrella at 7 am. Even though $50 resort fee daily, had to pay for beach chair and umbrella. Concierge gave me wrong info- you would think she’d be better informed. Room average no comfortable chair to sit on only desk chair. No upgrades if you book through Expedia even though gold status with bonvoy. Wouldn’t go back!

The one good thing about Moana is its location. It’s at the center of Waikiki and has the beach in its backyard. Otherwise the rooms are old and small, and I’ve stayed at better Best Westerns than this. Our room constantly smelled of wet rag probably because there’s no proper ventilation in there. It was clean and the housekeepers were nice. There was a single small elevator for our tower. It would be inconvenient for people with strollers or wheelchairs. And a few times I had to wait twice for the elevator to come back with enough space to fit my small stroller. Many of the valets at the front of the hotel were rude to me. Especially one that informed me my rental car safety tag was outdated and they refused to park my car. She seemed to be blaming me for it and was very rude. I honestly would never stay here sgain

The hotel was wonderful!! Loved everything! The only thing that I don't give it 5 stars is the pool. Wish it was a bigger pool to accommodate more people and not so shaded.

Was very disappointed with the pool, staff are not managing the pool lounge rules but yet I had to pay resort fees but could never utilise the pool lounges due to other guests reserving them & not even using them meaning other guests miss out.
When brought to staff attention nothing was done about it.

This hotel is in a great location. However it is a very old hotel and needed a lot of work. The bathrooms are awful and I paid a lot of money for two rooms. They are NOT luxury rooms by any means. Restaurant was ok. Beach Bar bartenders were kind of rude. Pool is awful. I will not return because the hotel is so expensive and doesn’t include anything.

The room was dirty. The bathroom floor had blood on the floor. There were three bandaids on the shower wall. The sheets had blood on them. I took wet wipes leaned my floor and shower.
The price of the rooms is high. It is a very nice place, there is no excuse for a dirty room.
I have also been charged double for two rooms and a 7 dollar charge for I don’t know what.

Without exception, the staff were most helpful and accommodating. The hotel is very conveniently on the beach, as are some of the dining options. The breakfast buffet is unique on Wailiki Beach and is excellent.

The location is directly across from the International Market. Very convenient for strolling and some good food. Staff was very friendly. We were on the 20th floor and had an excellent view of the ocean/beach. The Pool area was very nice and well staffed. The beach gets crowded, but not to the point you can’t find a place to sit. A hot tub would have been a welcomed amenity. That would be my only “wish”. The rooms are clean and modern. The street out front gets pretty noisy at night. Music, sirens, etc… The balcony door did a decent job of making it quiet enough to sleep.

The staff were always helpful and pleasant, especially Sean and all his concierge folk who took partular care of me...seeing that I was all right and even bringing me a dessert cuz tha Moana no longer has room service. I am 80 years old and my arthritis was particularly painful.

During my check-in I asked staff for assistance with a medical concern and was ignored. It took several attempts to esculate my issue to the general manager, who days later expressed his embarrassment but by then this had ruined several days of my stay. Otherwise my room was very nice and comfortable. The staff seemed overall unenthusiastic and tired.

Great Hawaii get away
We stayed a Moana Surfrider for 17 nights. We chose Moana Surfrider because we had stayed there before and was extremely happy with our room and the hotel staff.
This time the stay was no different, than before
Staff were so helpful, I missed up the booking they fix it up and we ended up with excellent room at no extra charge, we needed an extra luggage rack it arrived almost instantly, the room was always made for us before we would return even we just went away for breakfast and we order a lot of on-line shopping and delivery of parcels to our room were prompt.
Also just being able to walk out of the hotel onto the beach or to the surrounding shops makes the location perfect.
We will be certainly returning to Moana Surfrider for our 45th Wedding Anniversary in a couple of years time.

Great central location! They also have some great activities, especially for kids included with your stay—hula lessons, lei making and yoga! It is on the busiest street in Waikiki so if possible ask for a room on the beachside and not on the street.

Pros - beachfront , easy access to shops. Appreciated the veranda. Housekeeper for our room was very friendly. Music by the beach bar daily was nice.
Cons - air-conditioning was kind on the little noisy, bathroom floor/tiles also noted to be stained. Not a fan of the breakfast food (loco-moco). Found swimming pool small for how big the property is.

Historic hotel was conveniently located and many walkable locations for food and shopping along Waikiki beach area. Very clean and safe area (police station next door which gave an extra level of safety &piece of mind) Beach bar has great sunsets if you can get a table (open seating no reservations). Food was ok at beach bar but not great for the prices, go somewhere else to eat there are so many choices available and most places use OpenTable app.

I always stay at Moana Surfrider but this time was different. The rooms were really dirty, especially the bathrooms. Hair everywhere and the tubs were not cleaned. The king sized bed was horribly aged and uncomfortable. I was switched to a different room that was better, but still not the standard I have experienced with Moana Surfrider. I put my friend in another room and she had the full ocean view which is fabulous but also found hair in the shower (a large clump) so unfortunately not the best stay I’ve had at Moana Surfrider.

We had amazing time! My family loved the location and all the hotel had to offer. I loved the history and charm of the main building. My husband and I loved sipping our coffee in the rocking chairs, and my girls loved going back and forth from the pool to the ocean. Location wise it was amazing being able to walk to the beach, walk to shopping and restaurants, and jog down paths overlooking the ocean.

The resort is beautiful with an amazing location and largely exceptional staff barring a couple experiences with a less than “guest first” approach.
Easy check-in and very accommodating as we arrived quite early but they found us an available room that reflected what we had booked. Noting, desk team, pool attendants and servers as well as the concierge and bell staff were all exceptional!
The rooms and all community areas are well maintained and exceptionally clean.
The live music at the outdoor cafe/bar area was also appropriate for the environment and very enjoyable without being invasive.
A couple things to be aware of -
1) if you are on the Diamond side with ocean views, they often having weddings and receptions on the grass which can be quite noisy with the music and dancing.
2) if you want to take advantage of the early morning “yoga” I would recommend finding a nearby studio unless you’re looking for more of a breathwork/seated/closed eye class. I would define the “yoga” as more of a breath-work with gentle seated “flowing” (you never get beyond a seated cross legged position). For some this might be amazing but if you’re looking to move and flow through asana and breath find a private yoga instructor or a great studio in Waikiki.

Just like many other Westin properties, this one is not well maintained with cracks on the walls, dirty carpets, leaky showers, rusted hardware, and very small rooms. Staff and service is really hit or miss. Sometimes we got very nice people but other times we had some poor experiences. This is definitely not a 4.5 star property.

Valet service and maid service were excellent. Front desk and concierge were lacking respect and unable to fix small problems. Their recommendation for the air quitting working was for us to be downgraded to a lower quality room without a balcony instead of just fixing the air or giving us an equal or upgraded room. The property was beautiful but I would go elsewhere in the future. Anothe thing to note about this property is that when I left my 9 day vacation I had an additional 900$ charge for resort fees and other things that I’ll be dealing with when I get home.

Exceeded our expectations! Rooms were perfectly clean, very comfortable, and customer service was outstanding. You can’t beat the beach access or view from the tower rooms— we enjoyed sitting and listening to music, watching sea turtles surface in the waves. A relaxing and luxurious stay — will absolutely be back again!

We enjoyed our 8 night stay, the staff were very helpful with our booking which included accomodating our stay extension. The resort fee included a MiFi device which we found great to use, there was the option of a GoPro. The property is right in the heart of Waikiki, which makes it super convenient, but do note you're in waikiki there's a lot going on especially on weekends, so be prepared for a bit of background noise. The moana surrider's beach front access was also a massive plus with a complimentary beach towel service.

I love this hotel. It’s the most beautiful and centrally located hotel. Right next door to the Dukes restaurant, food courts, outdoor market and in the middle of Waikiki beach, this hotel is actually underrated. I’ve stayed here 5 times already and will definitely stay here again when I go back to Waikiki

This place is not worth the price. The rooms were small and older. The pool didn’t have enough chairs. Would have to wake up at 5-6am to get a chair. And then the pool employees would save the chairs and give to other patrons. The beach was very crowded. Save yourself a couple hundred and go somewhere else on that strip.

Good but value for money questionable. Room was noisy, lots of light in room at night. Doors needed to be closed specifically. Cleaner left room door ajar one day. could have lost everything. Resort hotel itself excellent but very expensive, extra cost for every service even though a resort fee is already charged daily.

Very beautiful vintage property right on the beach and in the middle of the tourist district. Plenty of dining options at a walking distance. Great service. No parking available on site but there are options nearby.

Being able to walk right onto the beach from the hotel is amazing. The Beach Bar was perfect to be able to eat lunch or dinner, or have some drinks right next to the beautiful beach. The servers and bar tenders were all awesome, even when it was busy they did a great job. The live music is a nice touch too. The Veranda for breakfast right next to it was great as well. There's also a great coffee shop attached to the front of the hotel. It was easy to walk to local to shops, and restaurants to try a little bit of every thing. I also appreciate the rest of the staff as well for being very helpful and kind, especially the trips concierge desk that help set up a couple excursions. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends and family.

Hotel location is excellent but this property needs to be remodeled soon. The wallpaper is pealing and the halllway carpets have seen better days. Time to renovate these tired looking room specially with the daily rate of over $350
