Great stay
The doorman was so kind and very sweet to our children. Our first room had just had a new tv installed but it didn’t work. The maintenance guy was very nice and ended up getting us a new room so he could work on the issue.
It would have been nice to have a microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator, but otherwise great place to stay convenient to many locations!

Great Hotel
The staff is super friendly and helpful, My husband and I stayed 2 nights for our anniversary in a junior spa suite, the hot tub and cleanliness was wonderful! The comfort was wonderful slept so good! We used the gym and pool as well , very nice, I will definitely stay here everytime we stay downtown!

The hotel overall is lovely and was our second time staying, mostly for the in room jacuzzi suite. However, the internet was not working the entire two nights we stayed this time, the in room phone was not working, so we had to call the main hotel number to reach the front desk when we needed something. There is no room service, so we had to order delivery service, which is dropped off at the hotel lobby, or order from the hotel restaurant. Unfortunately the restaurant does not take orders by phone so you have to walk down to the bar to order food and wait to take it to your room. Overall, the jacuzzi tub was the highlight of the stay.

Room was nice and clean. Bed was comfortable. View was very nice. Check in soured my stay at very beginning, as no one checking realized the $30 destination fee was going be added to the bill to, as the clerk explained, "cover the cost of the pool, fitness center, and water in the lobby" to say the least i wasnt the only irritated one. Definitely not staying there again and paying the 30 dollar ice water charge.

Staff was wonderful! The hotel itself is clean and very quiet. Right in the middle of the action in River North. Our only complaint would be that it would be very nice to have a coffee maker in the room and for some reason they removed the in-room refrigerator, at least there was no refrigerator in our room.

I stayed at the Royal Sonesta Chicago River North from 12/6-9th, 2023. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays. My room was very spacious, clean & really nice. The bed was amazingly comfortable. The door was a bit heavy… I’m thinking it’s because the room is soundproofed which is a huge plus if you’re staying in downtown Chicago as I barely heard any noise at night and slept so good. I love that they have a restaurant connected to the hotel - CBR. This was convenient as I arrived at night and did not want to go far for a bite to eat. CBR’s service, food & vibes were great. Would definitely stay at this hotel next time I visit Chicago again.

Good balance of stylish/artsy and practical comfort. Had brunch at the hotel’s restaurant - absolutely recommend the chicken and waffles. The pool was nice. The bathrobes in the room were comfy. Bed was comfortable. Wish there was a mini fridge in our room but that was our only note.

Hotel staff, including the restaurant were great. The, Hotel, however, is in dire need of a makeover. I was very disappointed at some of the conditions. I don’t appreciate chipped furnishings, drapes coming apart at the seams, drapes that don’t close. I’ve stated this hotel for years but doubt I’ll be returning until it receives a facelift.

My room was much larger than expected. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The 24 hour security and front desk service made me feel extra safe while traveling alone. Antwonne, was always cheerful when greeting me out front and letting me back into the building.

The property is very clean our room was a good size we had the one bedroom suit. I'm not a big fan of the decor as everything is so dark colored, furniture etc. But overall walking distant to everything, the valet parking is ridiculously expensive $76 dollar plus a $30 destination fee. I must say the stuff is very friendly and helpful.

It was OK, checking in the front desk girl was not the most friendly, but we let that go and had a nice day. However, upon leaving realized I had left my laptop in the room and have not been able to get a hold of anybody regarding it and that happened almost 24 hours ago. I cannot work without my laptop and I also cannot get anybody to respond to me regarding if they have it, which They must have it, since we left the room right at checkout, and I know exactly what table it was on, housekeeping, obviously saw it, but I cannot get the hotel to respond to me.

This property is so convenient to everything. We went for a Bears game but wanted to stay north of the river. We walked to the game and it took about 45 min. We walked everywhere from this hotel! You can walk all over this area and find every thing you need. Grocery store, restaurants, Starbucks, Michigan Ave all within a quick walk. Every single staff member was incredibly friendly! From the minute we arrived and used valet parking to the front desk and the door man every time we left or returned to the hotel. We stayed in a king suite with the spa tub. This room was perfect for lounging when we were not out and about in Chicago. Will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Everyone at the property was very friendly and welcoming. The facilities in side including the pool were kept clean and orderly, with lots of room!
The location is excellent, easy parking across the street with the subway also across the street for easy access to public transportation. Great walking distance to Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, the River Walk, and so much more. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The property was modern, well maintained and conveniently located just a few blocks from the River and from Michigan Ave.

Stayed for 4 nights — overall a good stay. People were quite nice. Bed was comfortable and the gym equipment was all up to date (a few screens on the treadmills were not working). My toilet was running and it was fixed immediately. My only real complaint was that I missed the coffee in the lobby by 10 minutes and there is no room coffee option, so I was forced to pay $6 for a small cup of coffee.

I cannot say enough about the courteous and thoughtful staff. They made us feel cared for and valued from the moment we approached the hotel, and they were eager to do whatever they could to make our stay more comfortable. They allowed us to check in early, called our room that evening to make sure everything was to our liking and ask if we needed anything, and immediately worked to correct any issues they heard about. For some reason our initial key card wouldn’t work on the pool and fitness center doors, but the hotel dispatched someone immediately to deliver new keys to us when they were aware. The television was having issues accessing several channels during a rain shower, but there wasn’t much they could do about that. When we were staying in Chicago past check-out, they kindly held our bags for us, and when we came by the hotel to pick up our bags, the valet team was extremely courteous to us when our car was parked in the drive for a few minutes, blocking the forward exit. When a taxi pulled in behind our car and started honking and yelling at our driver, the valet team approached his car and helped direct him as he backed out of the drive. Although he was put out, the hotel staff was patient and courteous and made us feel safe in an uncomfortable situation. I look forward to the next opportunity to stay at the Royal Sonesta. Thank you for taking care of us!

The room was spacious and very quiet. No street noise. We were on the 16 floor, so that helped. The bed was very comfortable. The AC worked quite well. This is often an issue for me. The staff was very helpful. My only minor complaint is that I would have loved to had a microwave in my room.

Overall a good place to stay
We were in Chicago for the Chicago marathon to cheer on a family member. The hotel was very well placed for that. it's a very nice hotel, good rooms and beds, but maybe a little over-priced. We had a room for 3 and they only gave us 2 glasses, 2 coffee mugs, so we had to continually ask for another, but then housekeeping did bring them. We found it a little strange that we had to ask for a mini fridge to be brought to our room, as well as the coffee maker, but they did bring those when we requested. The housekeeping staff were super friendly and helpful ( a shout-out to Shaunda), as were the doormen and bell-hops.

The room would always revert to 72 no matter what. No luggage rack in the room. At the room door m was a safety pin and 2 PCs of garbage. Very weird.
I went to order room service and was told I would have to go to the restaurant. When I asked for this phone number front desk said they didn’t have a phone. I did Uber eats instead.

We loved that even though we booked through Expedia we weren't treated differently. We received a room upgrade and a bottle of wine upon check in. Very nice!! Staff was great! Convenient location to shopping, restaurants, etc. Staying again in November!

Check in was quick but maybe too quick. When I got off the elevator to my room I realized I was never given a room number and had to call down. The room was very very dusty and I couldn’t get good rest from coughing all night. There’s also want room service but the restaurant downstairs has very tasty food and we there twice during our stay. The pool odd not heated but the room is very warm and humid. The water also only goes to 3 1/2feet. The view however is very nice. The last thing was the ELEVATORS. One was down during our stay so during checkout it was a nightmare waiting for the elevator. We ended up having to walk down with our luggage seven floors.

I don’t understand all the good reviews.
Only one elevator working lead to long waits to travel up and down and absolute chaos when everyone was heading down around 11AM to check out.
Room was not cleaned well or properly (left over gummy bears from previous guest on the floor, one seemed melted/smeared into the carpet making to sticky when you would step on it.)
Housekeeping comes at 10AM which when you’re dealing with jet lag is far too early. If you ask them to come back later they don’t. They also didn’t leave fresh water, you have to go ask at the front desk.
The area itself is SO LOUD at night. Cars honking until up to 3AM when the bars close. Lots of cars with insanely loud bass and music playing pass by all night long.

Per usual our stay was absolutely wonderful. They upgraded our room for free. The room was clean, spacious, quiet and the staff were amazing as always. This place never disappoints.
