Don't expect much.
Breakfast is cold cereal and a gallon of milk on a counter, nothing else, and coffee that was barely fresh.
Room was clean, bathroom had peeling paint, and the sofa was broken so badly that it was unusable.

Nice stay
We were very pleased with our room and the comfort of the bed. If you stay here and can’t do stairs, make sure you choose first floor. There is NO elevator in this facility but they do have several rooms on the first floor.

Staff were friendly, room furnishings worn and very basic, but clean and comfortable bed. Good inexpensive place to stay the night. My only complaint was the continental "breakfast" which was minimal at best. The choices consisted of bananas, 2 very similar and almost empty cereal choices, a few 2 packs of wafer cookies, and few of what looked like very dried out small, frosted buns.

Homeless couple was outside my room in their car and I was on the second floor playing loud rap music with no cares to keep folks awake. He came in the have coffee in the mornings and was dirty and scarry looking. They may have let them in to a room to sleep. My room was not cleaned two of the three days. I left a day early and he would not credit my card. He said I booked through Expidia a third party so he could not give credit.

The staff at this Super 8 is beyond exceptional! They were so kind and helpful, especially when I messed up my own reservation. Check in was a breeze and so friendly! Our stay was pleasant, quiet and again always so welcoming! We have stayed there numerous times but this was our favorite time because we got to meet and joke with many of the staff in passing. Highly recommend! Great people!

Old property that has not been as well maintained as expected. Threshold into my room, carpet was duct taped down. Beds were absolutely horrid!!! Old worn out springs mattress with a board base. Every plug in the room was used for lighting, etc and the plugs in the lights either didn’t work or chargers, etc felt like they were going to fall out. First floor windows are at knee height to the parking lot and have a broomstick in the frame to try to keep people from pushing them open. This is obviously a hotel used for work crews to stay in while in town to work on a job site. “Grab& Go” breakfast consisted of two types of cereal, a couple apples, and Lil Debbie honey buns/nutty bars. They at least had cleaning staff, no bugs, and except for slamming doors was quiete. Would not visit again.

The king size suite room came with 3 very small pillows, there were stains all over the bedding, couch and curtains. The toilet also wouldn’t work between the hours of midnight and 6am. The hotel was very loud when someone was walking above in another room..

Property needs upgrades/renovations
Recent trip to Carbondale for Homecoming weekend. And this location need renovations, property is showing it's age.Everything worked in our room, so no complaints there. Staff was friendly when I interacted with them.
Bed/mattress was terrible in one bed, the middle was soft and sunk in.
Room had a stale/musty smell when we got there, it seemed to go away after a few hours of running the AC.
"Breakfast" consisted of Juice, coffee, and cereal. No hot food, so I don't feel they should advertise as having breakfast.
This is an older property (40 years or so) that could use some paint, carpeting, mattress ect.

Rooms are simple and clean, no smells.. Staff was kind and quick. Location was great. Prices were fair. The only thing i did not like were the pillows, they were terrible, rocks!

The property and surrounding areas were pleasant. Plenty of shopping and food to choose from. Management and staff, were some of the worst I've ever dealt with
They will rip you off blind. There is no way to sugar coat it. With that being said, I WOULD NOT recommend you stay here if you can help it

The tv in the room was actually kind of small and impossible to get working. But the room was very clean and we slept great!!! I can't say much about the breakfast, but the coffee was awful. And the staff was rude. We've stayed there dozens of times and never had a problem, but this time they refused to give back the deposit saying they could smell traces of smoke and ashes. First off, we barely left the room long enough to smoke unless it was to let our dogs out. Second, there were no ashtrays outside and my husband doesn't like littering so he puts his cigarettes out and then puts them in his pocket. The people both when we checked in and checked out looked at my husband like he is getting ready to rob them or something. Little do they know that he has had 2 brain surgeries. So that long hair they were judging is actually covering up his scars from the surgeries.

I have daughter going to SIU and we had stayed at the Holiday Inn on previous visits. This time the quote for a room was $175/night. I was so grateful to find Super 8 has a room for $71! I found the room nice and roomy, and what the Holiday Inn offers that Super 8 doesn't are fluff and superfluous stuff! Thank you Super 8! I live for simplicity.

Way overpriced for condition of property, comforters were stained, shower pressure sucked, room had a funky odor to it and was extremely outdated, has to be over 10 years since anything on property has had an update, parking was limited, the breakfast provided consisted of a few apples, some bananas that were over ripe, too different cereals with a gallon of milk that was sitting at the front desk for everyone to use, no lids for the coffee cups and they ran out of coffee cups, went to get breakfast through drive thru next to hotel and there was a homeless person sleeping in front of one of the r establishments, was needing a room for one night stay with arrival being late, this hotel served the purpose for the six hours I was there, but if I had to stay longer would definitely have found a different hotel to accommodate

Decent but not the best
We stayed here for a night as a stop on our way to Chicago and for the price it's okay as a place to lay your head. The staff is great and it has most of the necesarry amenities but the rooms have a smell, sheets are stained/damaged, beds are hard, and tv's suck. Oh and breakfast is just a lil cereal nook. Overall we were happy (if not a little sore from the bed) with the stay but dont expect much lol.

The only positive is that the property is close to shopping and dining. First, there is no elevator. Know in advance that this is NOT the place to stay if you have any physical disability. We were on the third floor. When we entered the room is was sweltering and smelled like extreme disuse. No bed bugs though and no mold so we carried on. At 2 am the smoke detector starts beeping. My husband goes to the lobby and waits and no one is around. So we deal with it until 6 am. Not much sleep here. My husband goes back down to the front desk to just get a battery. They don't have a battery and say they will send someone. We go to our event come back and it is still beeping. Go to a related dinner, come back and it is still beeping. My husband goes and asks for a battery again. They don't have a battery but say they sent someone for one. We go to another event and come back and they have completely removed the smoke detector from the room. My husband is an electrician with more than 20 years doing work in the apartment and hospitality industry. It is a code violation to not have a smoke detector in the room but at this point we were just happy it was no longer beeping. Oh and they broke the luggage rack standing on it to get to the smoke detector. If they charge me for that I will completely lose my cool. We will never stay here again. This was an awful experience.

Stay here.
We’ve stayed here before and it was good then. The owners appear to continually update and improve the property. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was, and the staff was awesome.

Cheap with room for improvement.
The staff was very friendly and quick. Our room was fine - clean, modest, super soft squishy pillows. All of the lamps were very very bright, the tub was patched in several places, and there were a few spots/holes on the walls that needed patching. The AC unit was difficult to keep consistent, so the room kept getting hot and stuffy. It wasn't possible to scroll through the channels on the tv. Only able to enter specific channels every single time. Outside of our room the hallway was horribly stinky. Like an old used ash tray that never got cleaned. There was also pot smoke coming from what seemed like every other room, so there is that. The continental breakfast in the morning was a couple of bananas, an apple, nutty bars, bear claws, and two dispensers of cereal. (I didn't take note of what kind.)

They said there was free breakfast. Well breakfast consisted of 2 kinds of dry cereal and a gallon of milk. No toaster or anything. Being gluten free most cereal isn't an option. So we really didn't save money by booking a cheaper hotel as we had to go somewhere to eat breakfast. The hotel has not been updated since the 70s. Just not very impressed. Though the bed was comfortable.

Bring your own toiletries… I had a piece of soap about the size of a nickel . The lighting was extremely poor .. I was unable to see if the room was really clean. The staff was polite . I paid 160.00 bucks for an overnight stay for a graduation. Check in time was 3 pm and I left at 7:00 am . It reminds me of a truck stop hotel. I would have thought it would be better .. I stayed at many Wyndham hotels … never experienced anything like this. Cost should have been much cheaper … dingy towels, I just was not satisfied with the atmosphere!

Was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. Our sheets and pillow cases were dirty. Our room darkening sheets had holes in them so that light came into the room first thing in the morning. The room had looked like it had barely been cleaned because there were stains all over the counters, especially in the bathroom. We were provided one bar of soap, no shampoo and no conditioner. The bathroom sink didn’t drain at all so water would just sit in it.. The front desk staff was extremely rude when I came down and brought this to their attention to which they replied we could get out and get a refund otherwise sorry (mind you they charged us $140/night for this kind of experience). This was a weekend where most other hotels were booked, otherwise we would have left. Only benefit was it was close to things in the area. Would not reccomend staying here at all unless it is a last resort.

Wonderful staff! Ruchi and Nick at the front desk were always friendly and helpful as were all the other staff members.
That room was comfortable and so was the bed. I appreciated the accessible features grab bars in the bathroom.
I spent a almost week there and I could have comfortably stayed longer.

The hotel was clean but in need of updating he employees friendly the bed was old but comfortable The mini fridge was clean and there is a single serve coffee maker in the room and two regular and two decaf packets to make coffee, but only two condiment packs with only one packet of creamer, one sugar, and one sugar substitute in each
They were skimpy on the amenities only 1 bottle of shampoo and 2 slivers of soap plenty of hot water. The continental breakfast left a lot to be desired and not what I’ve come to expect from previous stays from this chain, Nothing hot, not even oatmeal or toast they only offered raisin bran or frosted flakes, and you had to ask for the milk at the counter and return it to them when you’re done pouring, they set out two bananas, and six apples to choose from and Aldi’s generic version of nutty buddies and honey buns if you’re diabetic, you’re really out of luck they did have coffee and the apple/orange juice dispenser

There was no lotion in the room's bathroom. When asked at the front desk, a less than half full tube was given. Neither the lotion tube or the shampoo bottle was sealed. Breakfast was small in supply.

The staff is wonderful. Everyone of them seem to be happy to help with any questions. I especially appreciate Ruchi and Nick at the front desk.
The cost of their rooms fit into my budget. The bed was comfortable and the accessibility features were appreciated. Unlike some places I have stayed, the toilet was at a good height. The tub/shower was a little tricky to use as far as figuring out the faucet. The grab bars in the tub were placed well and very sturdy.
This motel is located on Highway 13. There are many restaurants to choose from in the area. Also a large Walmart and an Aldi. In fact, Subway restaurant is just across the parking lot from the back door to the motel.
I would recommend Super8 Motel in Carbondale for anyone in search of a reasonably priced place to stay. It is definitely not upscale, but it is comfortable.

So this was an interesting experience and I'm trying to figure out how this place has any thing above a couple of stars for a review. I travel for a living and stay in hotels roughly 200 nights a year and this was the worst one I have stayed at in the last few. Upon arrival I was able to find parking at the rear of the building but there are no outside receptacles for charging, ok no big deal. But when I walked inside there was a definite feel of uncertainty in the air. 2 guys "discussing" something in the hallway; one appeared to be homeless and the other of a nefarious background. While waiting to be seen at the front desk I witnessed the "breakfast" area...aka, a sagging countertop, leading me to believe the nutritional value of the provided breakfast would not be up to par. We decided to venture away from the hotel the following morning in pursuit of more viable sustenance, with great success I might add. I got my room keys and headed up the stairs, careful not to step in the fresh blood that was on the floor from the poor puppy being carried by his owner to the room. I feel sorry for the maid service...if there were any. When my daughter arrived she knocked on the door and it just happened to open all on it's own. I ended up deadbolting and engaging the security latch as well. In the room I found the bathroom to be...a not so comforting place to take a shower or a dump. The shower curtain was tattered and had a healthy growth of mildew at the base.

Don't have expectations
It was okay. I have stayed at time shares by Wyndham and I expected more. Thought the cleanliness was lacking. After checking in, we went to our room to find that the trash had not been emptied after the last resident and the the receptacle for the tissues was open and empty. So-so! Maybe we got what we paid for - it was the cheapest price of name brand motels.

The property was clean and relatively quiet. I don't know why people allow their room doors to slam at any hour of the night, but this happens in most hotels and is annoying. The staff were sweet and very attentive to their patrons' needs.

Much improved from our last stay!
Honestly I was seriously not looking forward to staying there. Two years ago we stayed and the place was gross! I was pleasantly surprised! Much better kept this time although the upholstery on the chair in our room was dirty and stained and there were some icky looking stains on the mattress cover under my sheet that I only noticed in the morning. Otherwise exceeded my very low expectations! Must have new management and better help than 2 years ago.

The computer kept crashing so it made it harder to check in. The beds are a bit too firm. However, for the 8 hours we were here, it was a good buy for sleep. They offer a free breakfast, but it is not worth your time. They just offered raisin bran and frosted flakes and really bad coffee.

Avoid if possible
When I arrived I was told there is no smoking and if caught I would get fined yet the whole place smelled like cigarettes. I don't smoke and always get a non smoking room anyways. There was also no free breakfast as advertised. I went down during their breakfast times and there was only a coffee & juice machine and a cereal dispenser but no milk or any other items to grab. I do say that for being an older facility it is kept pretty clean. I also didn't appreciate them starting to knock on the doors at 10am telling guest it was time to check out even though check out is at 11am. I was in a middle of a meeting online when they knocked on my door. I was about to get it when the person knocking freely opened my room door on his own! I told him I knew I had to be out and would at 11am. I guess I got want I paid for though. This will be my first and last time staying here. I would rather pay more and stay at the other surrounding hotels when I am there again.

In a word, the property is "tired". The hotel seems a few years late to be remodeled. Carpeting, linens, all feel very dated and worn. The rooms need to be aired-out The bathroom was generally clean, but water pressure was poor. The location is convenient, however, I would not recommend this hotel.

We booked a king suite with a pull out bed for my wife and me and my daughter. We arrived at at 11:30 pm and found out that the pull out bed was broken. The management team was very rude and said they didn't know we were going have two adults and one child even though it was on my Hotels.com reservation. My daughter had to sleep on a broken bed. The management team told use they would not credit us because we broked through Hotels.com. bottem line, we didn't get what we booked and the management was extremely ungracious. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

No elevator, Air Smells Like Hot Vomit
The first floor where you check in was fine. The front desk man was kind, but there were very loud, very high, very rough looking guests outside smoking and yelling as we walked in. They were sitting right by the front doors so the couldn’t be avoided. There is no elevator and as you walk up flights of stairs, the smell in the air begins to change. Each flight you go up the temperature becomes hotter and hotter and the air smells hot and musty. We walked into the room on the third floor and we’re hit with a wall of stifling HOT air that just smelled WEIRD. It LOOKED clean but it SMELLED GROSS…like hot vomit. I DO NOT recommend this place.

It is a Super 8. They can either be placed you never want to visit or nice. This is one of the nice ones.
Carpet is new and the rooms appear to be remodeled/painted. There was some spots that needed painted where something had been removed, but didn't effect the quality of the room.
The walls and did are thin so you will hear people taking as they walk by and in their rooms in the morning. I didn't have anyone wake me up or disturb my stay even though i went to bed by 9pm, and I'm a fairly light sleeper.
The staff was very nice too. Simple, basic. Overall, it's worth the price you're paying.

to start there were no carts to shuttle our luggage to the room. Secondly I asked for a ground floor but got booked in the second floor and there was no elevator. Being a recent hip replacement candidate it was rough getting our belongings up the stairs. there were some sort of stains on on of the pillow cases and I noted beetle like bugs in the bathroom.. Breakfast was justa cold continental .
