Overall we had a very pleasant stay. One minor complaint is that we paid slightly more for the “ocean view” room, but it was only partial view (could barely see the rock, we could only see the bay south of the rock). The staff informed us the full ocean view rooms ran out already, we were a bit bummed out. Probably wasn’t worth paying extra for the ocean view for our case.

Walking distance to the beach
Room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and big enough to sleep myself, my husband and toddler. Bathroom and shower had soap dispensers and a lotion dispenser which I thought was convenient in case you forgot yours or need extra soap. The hotel is walking distance to the beach and near a variety of restaurants and bars. There’s also a park nearby and several walking trails. Overall it was an excellent place to stay.

Nice and Clean
It is an older hotel. Staff were friendly. The upper level deck was an amazing lookout on the bay. My only suggestion would be to have the owner check into the water heating system. The water temp in the shower would be great for summer but not so much for late fall and winter. We found that the shower water was tepid even though the shower handle was turned to the highest setting for hot water. The room was clean and neat. The bed was very comfortable.

Large, spacious rooms, bed was super comfortable. Plenty of floor space so when doing my morning yoga I never felt cramped. Great balcony view of Morro Rock.

Nice big room. Comfortable bed. Great view of Morro Rock from our second floor room. Small shower. AC unit worked well. Room was very quiet. Easy walk to the waterfront restaurants. No continental breakfast. Parking is ok but some spots are tight.

Overall 5 star experience except for the condition of the bed mattress. The mattress needed to be replaced because you could see indentations where people had slept in it and there was not support when you were on the bed. We both woke up with back problems the next morning because of an overly soft mattress that the gave no support. The staff was wonderful, attentive & provided excellent service with a great attitude. The room was clean & neat although the furniture was oddly arranged (bed was in front of the door). If not for the worn out mattress that gave us both backaches the next day, I would have given this place a 5 star review.

Watch a video to work your AC remote.
I had a room with a king bed and it was spacious. I thought the AC was not working the first night and seriously had to watch a youtube video to set the remote, the bottom panel does slide down. Once i figured it out the second night was more comfortable.

The room we had (Ocean View King) was great. When we opened the shutters, we had a view of the Embarcadero, the water and Morro Rock. There is an outside area intended for smoking, but we found it excellent just for sitting and viewing the boats on the water, the BVI is within walking distance (400 feet) of Dorn's (excellent food and service) and the Embarcadero. The bed was very comfortable, and the walk in shower was very nice (hot water almost instantly). The room is located on the second floor, so something to consider if walking upstairs is challenging for you (as is the street leading down to the Embarcadero). There is a construction site across the street, and ultimately will be another small hotel, blocking the ocean view, but the manager told me it took 6 years for construction to get underway, and when we arrived on Friday, there was no activity taking place, meaning apparently there is no hurry to finish the structure. There is an Albertson's supermarket less than a mile from the BVI, a straight shot. If the weather is nice (as it was for us this August weekend), leave the windows open at at night (shutters closed, of course) and enjoy the fresh air and the sounds of the sea lions! We enjoyed our stay, and will likely return here in the near future.

Our second stay at this hotel. Very friendly and accommodating staff. The building is older but well maintained. Our room had been updated but the floors and layout shows its age.
Off the noisy streets but still easy walking distance to everything we wanted to see.

Excellent customer service at front desk. The room was clean and updated. A little disappointed about having to park on the street after returning from dinner. Both lamps on night stands not in working condition. The AC on the wall made really loud awful noises after a few hours so we slept with it shut off.

The property could use a good upgrade, considering what I paid for it. We had an accessible room but the wall shampoo etc was placed too far away from the bench to use it. We couldn’t open the bathroom window, the fridge was closer to warm than cold, and the list goes on. The manager of the place was extremely pleasant. Oh well, you can’t beat the area!

They switched our bed request with our cousins who were traveling ahead of us. I had phoned in to request a King and they wanted 2 Queen. We got 2 Queen bed’s and they got a King. They had already moved in when we arrived.

My favorite place to stay!

Standard motel furniture and decor, etc, but it was all in good shape, and everything was really clean. Morro Bay is already a pretty small, walkable town, but the location of the Bay View Inn (essentially the next best thing to a place right on the Embarcadero) was especially nice as I currently have a bum foot, making walking a bit hard for me. Check in/out were quick and easy, beds were comfortable. Hard to ask for much more for the price!

The property is right down in Morro Bay’s embaradero which is where you’d want to visit but the hotel takes advantage of tourist. Very overpriced for a run down hotel room. Broken lamp, hand me down armchair from the 1970’s and you could see where there once was a couch but no more. An upgrade on furniture and carpet and you could continue conning tourist but until upgrades it’s not even a con it’s just rude.

Upon checking in I informed the front desk that we would not need housekeeping services for the week we was there. DAILY they entered the room while we were out. We were accused of smoking in the room. We did not. We only smoked with family in another city. Regardless the hotel staff was so rude. They made me pick up trash from outside that wasn’t even mine. Then had audacity to call myself and my husband raccoons. Unreal.. not to mention not enough parking. I would never recommend this awful place.
