Disappointed
We were on the 2nd floor. The room above us partied from around 8pm until after 1am. After numerous calls to the front desk with no resolution we called IHG and they were able to make the front desk staff handle the situation.
The breakfast is horrible as usual. This will most likely be our last stay at this hotel.

To me the front desk lady that night was so dry and unwelcoming. I’m half Asian and come from a respectable family and I was treating her nice and couldn’t get anything nice from her. My wife though she had no problem with her but I just saw her as u welcoming from the beginning I didn’t want her help with anything.

The property is in a great location for accessing Mayport Navy Base. In addition, Atlantic Beach is only 2 miles away making this a good option from a value perspective.

GOT JACKED IN JAX
I GAVE IT A POOR RATING BECAUSE THE DAY I WAS TO ARRIVE I RECIEVED A CALL FROM HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS STATING THERE WAS A GLITCH IN MY RESERVATIONS AND THEY DID NOT HAVE AVAILABILITY AT THEIR HOTEL AND WOULD TRANSFER MY LOCATION TO THEIR SISTER PROPERTY ACROSS THE STREET, CANDLEWOOD SUITES. IT SEEMS FUNNY THAT IT TOOK THEM UNTIL THE DAY OF CHECKIN TO DISCOVER THIS. I MADE MY RESERVATIONS ALMOST A MONTH IN ADVANCE.
CANDLEWOOD SUITES WAS OKAY. IT WAS CLEAN AND THE STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL, BUT I PAID FOR A FULL SERVICE HOTEL.

This hotel was fantastic!! Supremely clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed swimming in the pool and the breakfast in the morning. The elevator got stuck but the staff was on it and quickly resolved the issue. We would definitely stay here again!

Great property. Breakfast included healthy choices such as egg white omelets and turkey sausage as well as the usual ones. Fruit, juices, cereals, oatmeal, pancakes and cinnamon buns. Our room was serviced ever day including changing our towels, making bed and emptying trash - didn’t need to ask or schedule ahead of time. Was quite impressed and would return to the hotel again.

Surprisingly nice and clean hotel. Updated decor. Good breakfast options. Only complaint was we were next to the elevator and it was somewhat loud. But overall very nice and well worth the money. Near the beaches too!

I absolutely LOVED this hotel...what a gem! The facilities (dining area, hotel room, lobby) were clean. The beds were so comfortable and housekeeping did a great job tidying every day. The front desk receptionist, June, and the chef, Pablo, were so friendly! They were the cherry on top of a wonderful experience. The hotel was so close to A1A and the beach (about 9 minutes). Even though there were several families and some military service people were there, the hotel was never noisy. We will definitely be coming here again!

We booked our room over a week in advance, after traveling over 7 hours with 3 teenage children in a small car we got to the hotel ready to get into our room, get settled, and get some rest, as we were just there to stay the night and get up early the next morning to leave out for a 5 day cruise. I go to check in and the lady at the desk takes quite a while to even help me. When she finally does she sends us up to a room with one king bed. My reservation clearly states that I was supposed to have two queen beds in a suite with a pull out couch. We were trying to accommodate sleeping arrangements for 2adults, and 3 teens. I open the door and immediately see this will not work for the 5 of us. I go back down and she proceeds to tell me that they have no other rooms available! She says she just gave the last queen suite to the man in front of me. He was a single man alone! Why did he need a suite that slept 6 people? She takes over an hour trying to come up with all kinds of excuses, random solutions none of which will help or work, only for us to end up having to sleep with our 3 teens piled in one king bed, and my husband and I sharing one twin roll out bed they gave us for the original room she put us in, and only giving us $75 off the price of my original suite room! Not even the cost of the room I am in! Not to mention that we ended up not even being able to get into our room now till almost 11:45pm and being so exhausted we couldn’t even shower! Terrible experience!

It’s near a large navy base so we didn’t know what to expect. We were surprised by a ‘cat lady’ in the parking lot with a bucket of cat food feeding 20 or 30 cats! Otherwise it was very nice.

Great hotel but... when we went to check in they told us we were already checked in, but we weren't. They checked in someone else with a similar name to our room and then had to give us their room. The credit cards for each room were then also messed up. Never had that happen before and it was worrisome as the hotel was sold out. Luckily we got settled but it was unsettling.

One night stay
Just a one night stay on our way home from vacation. The front desk clerk was very nice and let us check in about 30 minutes early. This was after a rude staff member said, “check in us at 3:00” when I very nicely asked if it was possible to check in a little early. The other staff member came out from the back and asked my last name and checked me in. That was great customer service!! The rest of the stay was nice. Conveniently located right on A1A, it was an affordable option for us. Would stay again.

I enjoyed my stay at Holiday Inn Express. The room was very clean. The clerk who checked me in was very friendly. The clerk who checked me out was friendly as well. When I come back to visit, I will reserving a room at Holiday Inn Express.

Room was not ready upon arrival
My family and I were extremely disappointed with this stay. Check in was at 3pm, we arrived at 4pm and were told our room wasn’t ready. “There was a golf tournament and everyone checked out so housekeeping was behind”. Totally understand but we arrived for a funeral so this was very inconvenient considering we ended up being late because we were unable to check in. Later in the evening when we went back, we were able to check in but the wifi was not working. When I tried to call the front desk, our room phone did not work. Completely dead. The room itself overall was decent and the beds were comfortable but our overall experience was terrible and I don’t feel as though they did anything to compensate for their lack of hospitality. Disappointed.

Reservation was messed up. Agent didn't know queen from king bed! Tried to send us to other hotel, they did not have what we were told they had. Came back and manager got us an acceptable room.

Very nice hotel. Clean and comfortable.

This is a very good hotel for the price range. The staff was friendly and engaging, Jennifer at the front desk was courteous and quick with check-in. Our room was clean and ready. The breakfast was well supplied and everything looked clean. The only negative is that the floors are hard surface (for ease of cleaning by housekeeping, I'm sure) so the folks in the room above us sounded like tap-dancing hippos. The room was very quiet most of the night, but about 6AM the upstairs neighbors started walking around "heavy-footed". It didn't really bother us for long. but it is the price you pay acoustically for not having carpeted floors. Overall, it was a very good stay, and we would stay again.

Outside area was well maintained. I liked that there were bags supplied in the pet area. I did not like that doors were locked 11:00pm - 6:00am and I would be dependent on the desk attendant. I avoided taking my dog out in the night because I didn’t feel confident that I’d be let back in right away.

Overall stay was good. Nice hotel for the price. However, did have slight issue with a pending charge showing up on bank account. Called hotel after talking to my bank and got Lisa. Well if anyone else gets Lisa...good luck. If she decides she is tired of talking to you she just starts yelling and hangs up on you. Not once but 3 times, the 4th time was the old "please hold". So Lisa i hope you have the day you deserve!

Looks like a nicely refurbished older hotel. Carpets,tile, furniture all appeared to have been smartly replaced. Lobby was pleasant and modern also. Good breakfast, great cinnamon rolls. Staff was friendly at check in and check out.

No Tele Response From Front Desk - Your Safety?
I spent an extremely uncomfortable night in my room in spite of the a/c and fan on high, the overall smell of marijuana continued to linger in the air from the previous guest. In spite of several attempts to call the front desk to ask if it was possible to change rooms - NO ONE ever answered the lobby phone. The no response from the front desk was more alarming in regard to my overall safety than the lingering odor in the room. What if there would have been an actual fire, water break, or if someone tried to break into my room, etc.? When I inquired during check in about this lack of service, I was told that no one sits at the front desk all night, there were other things that need to be done but the lobby was monitored on camera. Then why didn't someone hear and answer the phone?? Would not stay here again - based on my experience, and very disappointed after reading all the previous "great" reviews.

Highly recommend!
I was in town to visit my mom in a nearby assisted living facility. I found this Holiday Inn to be very quiet, clean, and convenient. The hot/cold breakfast was lovely and the staff was friendly. I will be staying here every time I’m in town.

Arrived at 3:10 (check in time was 3:00) Had to wait an hour for the room to get ready.
Room could sleep 6 people but only enough towels for 3 (there were 4 of us)
Dining tables never cleaned the whole time we were in the dining room.

It was super clean and the room was well appointed however there was no ice machine on the first floor and the pool area wasn't available to sit in, in the evenings, so if you wanted to sit outside there was no option to, other than a wet bench in the front entrance area. Also, there wasn't an agent sitting at the front desk, rather watching you from a camera in the back room shouting out to you asking what you need. The staff was nice, I just felt like I was inconveniencing them as they left the desk vacant a lot.

It was ok. The beds were not very comfortable. The breakfast was good. The towels for the pool were so tiny, small. The Hotel kept charging my prices and kept charging me double/ triple for the costs. There wasn’t enough pillowcases or blanket for the couch to be put out for my kids I had to call constantly to get blankets. The pets were not comfortable at all and I first they put me in a daycare room two queen suite bedroom. They were very friendly.
